Book SynopsisThe beauty and magic of nature seen through the eye of a needle. Colours of flowers and shapes of plants; bleached grass and golden cornfields at harvest time; spiders webs on the structures of decayed seedheads; a metallic green chafer beetle landing on a deep crimson rose; a shooting star. Beguiling discoveries that are part of the world full of secrets, minute details and the sumptuous colours and textures of nature that lend themselves to their translation into rich embroidery. This embroidered path of the seasons uses hand embroidery in its traditional role of storytelling to share nature's gifts. Each stitch holds the emotion of the moment and keeps a record. The book tells the story of the companionship and healing offered by the seasons during the enforced isolation of the pandemic, and how it enabled the artist to find beauty in solitude.

Book SynopsisFollow Jenni Smith as she's granted rare access to the Liberty design studio and historic archives, and celebrate the iconic designs that have made Liberty London one of the world's most iconic fabric manufacturers. Liberty London opened in 1875 and has been producing exquisite fabrics and designs for over 140 years. In this book there are 15 projects with a complete fabric design history of Liberty as well as a full colour reference index for every fabric used. Featuring beautiful details of the classic fabric designs produced over the years, each quilt will inspire readers to finally cut into those precious bits of fabric and begin enjoying them in pieced projects of their very own. The hardback book comes in a gorgeous hardcover textured linen slipcase in beautiful Liberty fabric. It's an ideal gift for anyone who is a fan of Liberty or British design. This is the first quilting book to be an official partnership with Liberty.Trade ReviewThis book is a ‘celebration of my passion for Liberty Fabrics,’ with their ‘iconic prints’ and ‘soft texture’ writes the author Jenni Smith, they are ‘cherished friends’. Indeed, Liberty fabrics have been inspiring sewers to create everything from high fashion to household textiles for the last 140 years. I myself have a nostalgia for the scraps of past Liberty prints that I keep in my fabric stash, far too precious to cut into. Included in the book is a chapter detailing the history of liberty fabrics and what makes their design unique. The Liberty company has an archive of 50,000 prints, and it is these that its team of designers use as their source of inspiration when they begin their initial drawings and paintings for a new collection of fabric. Liberty are specialists in printing onto fabric, beginning as they did, when the company was founded, with block printing and later moving on to screen printing and digital printing, as technology evolved. They are world renowned for their print quality and attention to detail, especially given the size, intricacy and delicacy of some of their floral patterns. The small section in the book explaining about the base cloth, details the difference between the famous Tana Lawn fabric with its soft texture and Lasenby fabric, a more substantial 100% cotton, which is perfect for patchwork and quilting. It also explains the name origins of these two fabrics and gives an insight into why stroking Tana Lawn, is a favourite pastime amongst fans of this material. Subsequent chapters are devoted to the 15 patchwork and quilting projects that readers can make. The designs utilize a variety of sewing techniques including appliqué, English Paper Piecing, Foundation Paper Piecing and sewing curves. Each project is accompanied by easy-to-follow instructions and diagrams which include material yardages, how to sew the individual quilt blocks, and how to assemble the blocks into the finished piece. The projects are mostly designed to be machine sewn but hand piecing is an option, and 2 projects are designed to be hand sewn and portable. However, what makes this book unique is its adherence to the exclusive use of Liberty Fabrics, for the design and execution of each of the 15 projects. For me, the inclusion of an index of swatches of the Liberty Fabrics used, including a close-up photograph of the design, and details of its unique name and code, was a complete delight. From the very beginning, my own patchwork and quilting story was nurtured by my love for these wonderful fabrics and with this book I have been inspired to revisit them. -- Lis Tate * The Quilter's Guild *Celebrating 145 years of gorgeous floral prints, author Jenni Smith delves into the history behind the iconic designs that have made Liberty London such a household name. You'll be walked through one decade at a time, with 15 luxurious quilt projects showcasing differe3nt trends and styles from across the years. There is also a full colour reference for all the fabrics used, so you can recreate the projects that inspire you most. * Sew magazine - December 2020 *Liberty, the iconic department store located behind London's Regent Street, has an extensive archive of about 50,000 patterns and its in-house design studio, founded in 1952, continues to create iconic textile designs today, all printed on the finest cloth. Smith was granted rare access to both the studio and archives, and the result is 15 projects with a complete fabric design history of Liberty, as well as a full colour reference index for every fabric used. Reflecting the brand's pedigree, the book is a special object in its own right too, arriving in its own linen slipcase and illustrated throughout with beautiful photography. * Embroidery Magazine *

Book SynopsisLatinx artist Tamara Kostianovsky began using her discarded clothes as artistic material shortly after immigrating to the United States, addressing cultural and physical displacement, assimilation and identity, and the brutal history of Latin America. Today, these emotionally charged materials coalesce in a post-colonial vision for an ecological future. Tamara Kostianovsky creates sculptures from textiles that address the relationship between landscapes, the body, and violence. This volume highlights distinct bodies of her work including sculptures of butchered carcasses, slayed birds, and severed trees. Built with layers of texture, colour, and emotion, these works dive head-first into the tension between beauty and horror, confronting histories of systemic violence and transforming them into utopian environments.

Book SynopsisThis fantastic book showcases the prestigious Embroiderers’ Guild’s huge collection of embroidered birds through the ages. Featuring photographs taken especially for the book, items are shown in full along with detailed images that show off the stunning birds at their best.Trade ReviewThis fabulous book highlights some of the exquisite works done using birds as their inspiration. This aesthetic book provides an eye opener into the surprisingly wide-ranging, attractive and interesting embroideries which can be created showcasing birds. Embroidered Treasures: Birds provides a real learning experience allied to the sheer pleasure of viewing the superbly photographed examples Dr Collinge has selected from the Collection. The embroideries range from small mats, sachets and panels through bags, tea cosies and cushion covers to wall hangings, sleeve bands and samplers. * SEW Region Magazine (December 2019) *You'll be amazed by the stunning array of colours inside this book! Sewing enthusiasts will be blown away by the history of the embroiderer's guild and its collection - learn all about the use of metal thread, birds in art and every stitch variation you could possibly think of! * Sew Magazine (December 2018) *Following on from Embroidered Treasures Flowers, which examined floral embroidery, Annette Collinge turns her attention to our feathered friends, selecting examples that intrigue as well as inspire. She highlights pieces from cultures around the world, dating from the 17th century to the modern era - from realist renderings to fanciful interpretations, from practical items to contemporary artworks - and which take in a whole wealth of techniques from Berlin wool work to modern machine embroidery. The Guild was founded in 1906 and since then its collection, now housed at Bucks Co Museum, has grown substantially. This book offers amazing insight into its many riches. * Embroidery, The Textile Art Magazine (Nov/Dec 2018) *Subtitled 'Exquisite Needlework of the Embroiderers' Guild Collection', this book showcases the best embroidered birds from the extensive collection. The embroideries cover a period dating from the 17th century to the present day. From abstract to naturalistic, the variety is wonderful and the book covers many forms of embroidery from crewelwork to contemporary. The imagination, skill and detail in portraying birds will provide much inspiration to everyone interested in this subject. There is a brief history of the Embroiderers' Guild followed by twelve chapters: Monochrome Embroidery; Metal Thread; Applied Materials; Machine Embroidery; Silk Embroidery; Evenweave Backgrounds; Bags; Art; Samplers; Fanciful; Birds From Many Lands and finally Stitches. A short paragraph of text opens each section, with each photographed piece of work having a title such as 'Crewelwork Panel' and descriptive text plus technique, date, place and size highlighted in a box. On some pieces, it also gives the maker's name and who gifted the piece to the collection. All pieces have a EG number. I found the techniques of most interest, but this is not a book of techniques - it merely informs us of the technique used. Work as varied as rug hooking, felt applique and numerous embroidery techniques are included from all over the world. There is some overlap of the chapters, for in Chapter One on Monochrome, you will find Metal Thread and Silk Embroidery even though these have chapters of their own. Almost every manner of bird is to be found. This is a wonderful resource on how birds have been used to inspire embroidery over the centuries. Recommended. -- Karen Platt * www.karenplatt.co.uk *Way back in January, I reviewed the book, Embroidered Treasures: Flowers, a wonderful compilation of embroidery pieces held by the Embroiderers’ Guild of the UK. Like the Flowers book, Embroidered Treasures: Birds promises to be an exciting and inspiring look at a wide array of embroidery projects from different eras that feature our feathered friends. If you love birds and you love embroidery, and if you’re fascinated by the history of embroidery, you will love having this book in your library! Better yet, it is such a pretty book that it doesn’t need to be consigned to a bookshelf. It’s a perfect “coffee table” book, one that you can pick up and browse through at leisure, gleaning striking bursts of beauty and helpful bits of information every time you meander through it. I’ve had the pleasure of perusing an advanced copy of the book, thanks to Search Press, and it is everything you’d want – beautiful, informative, and inspiring! Throughout the book, you’ll find embroidered birds from a wide spectrum of artistic eras, covering a wide variety of techniques. All sorts of birds populate the book, from stylized birds to realistic renditions of birds in needlework. With each featured embroidery, you’ll find dates, provenance, and all the details of techniques and materials used to create the embroidery. What I love about this new series of books from the Embroiderers’ Guild of the UK is that you can learn much from each book, just by studying the pieces in it. No, it’s not an instructional project book – you won’t learn how to recreate, step-by-step, the embroidery pieces you see. But you will learn a lot about the history and development of embroidery, and you’ll see, at a glance, what kinds of techniques can be used to produce a certain look or style of embroidery. This is very helpful, if you have ideas in mind for a project, but you’re not sure what techniques to use to get the look you want. Soooo…. bird lovers, historical needlework buffs, and general embroidery enthusiasts – this book’s for you! -- Mary Corbet * www.needlenthread.com *I was very keen to read this book being a member of the Embroiderers' Guild for about 25 years and a lover of bird embroideries in particular. The book does not disappoint. Stunning photography enhances every page with information about each piece, the technique, the date and place of origin, together with the actual size of the piece of work. It is pure joy discovering how each piece was formed in a plethora of techniques, including works gathered from across the world across the centuries up to the present-day including birds by the author Dr. Annette Collinge. Techniques are well explained but not in great depth so the book means you can dip into it for short or long spells of reading time. It is perfect to inspire you in making your own work or simply just to enjoy the skill and craftsmanship of the embroideries. As others have commented, it is not a book to tell you step by step how to do it yourself; it is a book to love for its amazing photography and know that it will give you hours of enjoyment by reading it. You cannot fail to be inspired by looking through this book, whether your love is for hand or machine embroidery, mixed media or traditional - this book has it all. Highly recommended. -- Jude Lovatt * Amazon *If you love birds and love embroidery, I highly recommend this book. It’s full of colourful eye candy in the form of quality images, along with interesting and useful text relating to the pieces. It covers a wide range of embroidery techniques and provides inspiration to anyone interested in the subject. It’s a wonderful resource book showing how birds have been used to inspire embroideries over the years. A definite favourite in my collection. -- Gwenda Culkin * Amazon *Beautiful coffee table book, full colour pictures and history of embroidery. Doesn’t have patterns or how to do any of the stitching but love it. -- Ellen Rose Perkins * Amazon *Lovely informative book, well written with excellent photography. -- Diana Connor * Customer review *'Embroidered Treasures - Birds' by Dr. Annette Collinge is truly a treasure to behold. The artwork and skill are absolutely stunning and something I imagine all artists strive to work towards with their own creative work. This book is made on behalf of the Embroiderers' Guild and displays some beautiful examples of the creativity of people through time. It has a large table of contents split into different sections, e.g. on bags, on silk, samplers, metal threads, etc. It also has an index. Each piece has an EG number, a date, size and a few paragraphs about the piece. The pieces range from intermediate to way, way, way advanced! It is a shame there are no mini tutorials in the book, but this is purely showing the historical pieces they have in their collection. I absolutely love the peacock piece on page 23, and the Berlin work Budgerigar on page 90. It gives you so much inspiration when you look at the pieces and how they have included birds in so many different ways. I love the Cockerel Sleeve Band with the two cockerels looking at each other, hand embroidered in bold silk threads. I would highly recommend this book if you enjoy looking at embroidery and are looking for some inspiration - there is a lot to be had from this book. 10/10 -- Kaiserin Maggs * Amazon *I loved the photography in this book and there are some exquisite pieces of work in it. If you want a reference book containing stunning pieces of art, then this is it. It’s also very informative about the history of embroidery and the different techniques used throughout the ages and from around the world. I especially liked the collage owl kit. The page explains how embroidery kits were very popular in the 1970’s and 1980’s and reminded me of my first embroidery project that I completed in the 80’s as a child. If you are unable to attend an exhibition, then this is the next best thing. -- Joanne Gardener * Amazon *This is such an informative book with some stunning photography of many pieces from the Embroidery Guild's collection that feature birds. Each piece is accompanied by information on technique, date of make and the area that it comes from. This is not a technique book that will teach you how to create these wonderful pieces, but certainly such a lot of inspiration here that will encourage you to experiment and find your own project to work on. As a needlecrafter and general crafter this book is right up my street, however it's the type of book to leave readily available as non crafters will find it just as interesting. It was interesting to see my husband, definitely a non crafter, pick the book up for a token flick through and half an hour later he was still engrossed and commenting on the photographs. Love it and will be looking out for more. -- Louise Blackah * Amazon *I have received my embroidered birds’ books. I am so pleased with the look of the covers, which are bright, colourful and eye-catching. The instructions are so clear and helpful that anyone can understand. Also, some are for beginners and you can do more intricate ones as you feel able. Lovely templates too. The birds are done in such beautiful colours, some of which I would never have thought of putting together which is so helpful as I am not good at selecting colours to put together. Book SynopsisFrom rugged Japanese firemen's ceremonial robes and austere rural work-wear to colorful, delicately-patterned cotton kimonos, this lavishly illustrated volume explores Japan's rich tradition of textiles. Textiles are an eloquent form of cultural expression and of great importance in the daily life of a people, as well as in their rituals and ceremonies. The traditional clothing and fabrics featured in this book were made and used in the islands of the Japanese archipelago between the late 18th and the mid 20th century. The Thomas Murray collection featured in this book includes daily dress, work-wear, and festival garb and follows the Arts and Crafts philosophy of the Mingei Movement, which saw that modernization would leave behind traditional art forms such as the hand-made textiles used by country people, farmers, and fisherman. It presents subtly patterned cotton fabrics, often indigo dyed from the main islands of Honshu and Kyushu, along with garments of the more remote islands: the graphic bark cloth, nettle fiber, and fish skin robes of the aboriginal Ainu in Hokkaido and Sakhalin to the north, and the brilliantly colored cotton kimonos of Okinawa to the far south. Numerous examples of these fabrics, photographed in exquisite detail, offer insight into Japan's complex textile history as well as inspiration for today's designers and artists. This volume explores the range and artistry of the country's tradition of fiber arts and is an essential resource for anyone captivated by the Japanese aesthetic.

Book SynopsisIt is a fascinating story that the merchant companies of Europe, established with the aim of sourcing exotic eastern spices, stumbled upon Indian handmade textiles and found these a highly profitable product for their home markets. This process was to have far-reaching consequences for colonial history. In this book the author takes us on a tour of 30 masterpieces of Indian textiles from the TAPI Collection, commissioned by European patrons in the 17th and 18th centuries. Presented here are outstanding examples of large, intricately hand-drawn, dye-painted cotton chintzes made in the Coromandel Coast, and embroidered palampores and garment pieces made in Gujarat and the Deccan. Textiles made for Dutch and British patrons demonstrate the aesthetic high point achieved by Indian artisans in the 17th and 18th centuries. Indian patterned cottons such as these, with their infinite variety of floral motifs, left a profound and enduring impact on textile designers in the western hemisphere, unexpectedly setting the stage for the Industrial Revolution.

It has also reflected economic and political changes over time as well as social, religious and artistic contexts. From drafting your pattern to the fastenings, everything you need to know is included and helpful tips guarentee a professional finish. Well, you're in luck, as this must-have manual by author Jennifer Taylor, of The Great British Sewing Bee fame, shows you how to mix and match elements to create your ultimate garment. Whether you prefer a pleated mini or an A-line maxi, there's something for every style - plus a whole range of options for pockets, zips, buttons and yokes, too. * Sew magazine - December 2020 *Although I have sewn since I was a teenager, I’ve never drafted a pattern. I’m not a conventional shape so always have to tweak patterns and skirts never quite work for me, hence my interest on this book. Skirts are the easiest patterns to draft, ideal for a first go at drafting. At the start of the book there are sections on fabrics, sewing tools and drafting tools. The author then splits the book into three main sections: 1. Constructing the basic skirt block then altering for six variations on shape. 2. Techniques and some extra details. 3. Skirt ‘recipes’, where you can mix up the techniques and details. Taylor makes constructing the block (Americans call it a sloper) very understandable by breaking it down into bite sized steps. Correct body measurements are crucial and she explains how best to take them and where. (E.g. where do you measure for hips and waist? And how should you determine length?) Although I haven’t made a block yet, I’ve read through the instructions, which are very detailed and are easy to understand. Take them slowly and make sure you read through before starting to carry them out. She includes making a toile (practice garment, Americans call this a muslin) and then checking the fit and how to fine tune it. The main reason for making your own blocks is to ensure a nicely fitting garment. The next section shows how to alter the basic skirt shape to create a further five skirt shapes, such as a pencil skirt and a flared skirt. Taylor goes on to explain techniques such as a traditional waistband, facings and zips. Two zip insertions are shown, one is a centred zip. The other is a fly zip which is less common and ignored in many other sewing books. (I’m looking forward to trying it her way.) Invisible/concealed zips are mentioned but not shown. Techniques such as pockets, hems, a back vent and yokes were dealt with before the skirt recipes. There are ten suggested skirt styles, but many of the components can be swapped around, added, taken off etc. So you really have a multitude of variations to personalise your skirt for you. I like Taylor’s approach of using a scaled down/mini mannequin to show the various component shapes and how they make up a skirt. Genius! It’s much easier to understand than using full scale body sized mannequins. The skirts shown have a definite retro vibe, helped perhaps by some unusual fabric combinations. Fabric choice is all important, and most of the fabrics used are mid to heavy weight woven. For me, although my favourites are too short, instructions are there to lengthen them. Would I buy the book? Yes – for the pattern drafting, and components styles, rather than the sewing techniques. I’m excited to get my pattern paper and tackle the jeans style skirt, Bobbie (but longer!) -- M Jones * Amazon Customer Review *Clearly written and illustrated. I'm an experienced dressmaker but would usually only work from a pattern, this book has given me the confidence to make my own block and also inspired me experiment altering my existing patterns. -- Bernadette McGowan * Amazon Customer Review *The opening parts of the book give a comprehensive overview of the equipment needed and terms used in dressmaking. Although I have many years of experience in dressmaking, I have never tried to draft my own pattern and it was this part of the book I was most interested in. I found the instructions for making the basic skirt block easy to follow and then went on to make a toile as the author recommends. I carried on and then made up the toile into a proper garment as the fabric I'd picked was suitable and was very satisfied with it. Although I haven't yet made any of the other styles I have read the instructions and I'm confident I could make them successfully. I particularly liked the suggestions on customising touches such as the pockets and will definitely use these in the future, definitely a worthwhile buy. -- Hilary Guthrie * Amazon Customer Review *Table of ContentsIntroduction 6 How to use this book 8 Getting started 12 Basic sewing kit 12 Dressmaking essentials 15 Drafting tools 16 Fabricology 18 Your body, your block 22 What is a block? 24 What is a toile? 24 What details should I include? 25 Taking your own measurements 26 How to draw out your own block 28 Making a toile and checking the fit 32 Creating your skirt 37 Skirt shapes 38 Basic skirt 40 Pencil skirt 41 A-line skirt 42 Flared skirt 43 Box–pleated skirts 44 Gathered skirts 48 Fastenings & fixtures 52 Traditional waistband 54 Wrapped waistband 56 Facing 58 Zip fastenings 60 Button placket 64 Details & finishings 66 Patch pockets 68 Inseam pocket 70 Yoke 72 Yoke pocket 74 Back vent 78 Hems 80 Putting your skirt together 84 Skirt recipes 88 Monroe 88 Brodie 92 Pattie 96 Cecelia 100 Bobbie 104 Kate 108 Joni 112 Judy 116 Jasmine 120 Grace 124

Book SynopsisOver the past 30 years, research on archaeological textiles has developed into an important field of scientific study. It has greatly benefitted from interdisciplinary approaches, which combine the application of advanced technological knowledge to ethnographic, textual and experimental investigations. In exploring textiles and textile processing (such as production and exchange) in ancient societies, archaeologists with different types and quality of data have shared their knowledge, thus contributing to well-established methodology. In this book, the papers highlight how researchers have been challenged to adapt or modify these traditional and more recently developed analytical methods to enable extraction of comparable data from often recalcitrant assemblages. Furthermore, they have applied new perspectives and approaches to extend the focus on less investigated aspects and artefacts. The chapters embrace a broad geographical and chronological area, ranging from South America and Europe to Africa, and from the 11th millennium BC to the 1st millennium AD. Methodological considerations are explored through the medium of three different themes focusing on tools, textiles and fibres, and culture and identity. This volume constitutes a reflection on the status of current methodology and its applicability within the wider textile field. Moreover, it drives forward the methodological debates around textile research to generate new and stimulating conversations about the future of textile archaeology.Table of ContentsList of Contributors and Editors Preface Ian Shaw Ancient tools and textiles: Thinking outside the box Gabriella Longhitano, Sarah Hitchens, Alistair Dickey and Margarita Gleba Part I: Application of Analytical Techniques on Tools 1. Book SynopsisA leading authority on the Bayeux Tapestry examines the work "frame by frame" in this profusely illustrated and annotated volume. The Bayeux Tapestry is one of the most extraordinary artefacts to survive from the eleventh century: a fragile web of woollen thread on linen, its brilliant colours undimmed after nearly a thousand years. The events of the years 1064 to 1066 surrounding the contested accession to the English throne of William, Duke of Normandy are so vividly portrayed that you can almost watch the artists' minds at work as they created it. This beautiful full-colour reproduction of the entire Tapestry includes a detailed commentary alongside each episode, so you can follow the story blow by blow.Trade Review[A] strikingly illustrated book, which reproduces in colour every centimetre of the surviving embroidery. Book SynopsisLinking histories of women, relationships to the natural environment, material culture and art, Andrea Pappas presents a new, multi-dimensional view of eighteenth-century American culture from a unique perspective. This book investigates how and why women pictured the landscape in their needlework. It explores the ways their embroidered landscapes address the tumultuous environmental history of the period; how their depictions of nature differ from those made by men; and what women’s choices of motifs can tell us about their lives and their relationships to nature. Embroidering the Landscape situates these pastoral and georgic needleworks (c. 1740-1775) at the intersection of environmental and social histories, interpreting them through ecocritical and social lenses. Pappas’ investigation draws out connections between women’s depicted landscapes and environmental and cultural history at a time when nature itself was a charged arena for changes in agriculture, husbandry, gardening, and the emerging discourses of botany and natural history. Her insights change our understanding of the relationship between culture and the environment in this period and raise new questions about the unrecognized extent of women’s engagement with nature and natural science.Table of ContentsIntroduction: Surveying the Field; 1 The Eye of the Needle; 2 Roots and Terroir; 3 Greener Pastures; 4 Flock, Fish and Fowl; 5 Women’s Estate; 6 Women and ‘Experiential Botany’; Conclusion: Women’s Harvest; Notes; Bibliography; Image credits; Index

Book SynopsisCan corporate history be art? This question can only be asked if one is not familiar with the fascinating long-term project by the Chinese artist Xiaowen Zhu. Anyone who has experienced Oriental Silk will answer this question with a clear “yes.” The project’s title is also the name of a company founded in Los Angeles in the early 1970s. Specialising in trading and distributing silks, it was headed for decades by Kenneth Wong and his family. Through her multi-sensory works Zhu opens up a multifaceted view of a firm that is distinguished, like its silk products, through its own haptics, style, colours, and values. The people, places, and stories that make up the phenomenon of Oriental Silk form a fascinating, vivid tapestry in which the past and present, art and life, are closely interwoven.

Book SynopsisGathered over the course of four decades, the Thomas Murray collection of Indonesian textiles is one of the most important in the world. The objects comprise ritual clothing and ceremonial cloths that tell us much about the traditions of pre-Islamic Indonesian cultures, as well as the influences of regional trade with China, India, the Arab world, and Europe. As with the earlier volume, Textiles of Japan (Prestel, 2018), the book focuses on some of the finest cloths to come out of the archipelago, presenting each object with impeccable photographs. Geographically arranged, this volume pays particular attention to textiles from the Batak and the Lampung region of Sumatra, the Dayak of Borneo, and the Toraja of Sulawesi, as well as rare textiles from Sumba, Timor and other islands. Readers will learn about the intricate traditions of dyeing, weaving, and beading techniques that have been practiced for centuries. Original texts by international experts offer historical context, unspool the mysteries behind ancient iconography, and provide new insights into dating and provenance. At once opulent and scholarly, this book arrives at a moment of growing interest in Southeast Asian culture and carries the imprimatur of one of the art world's leading collectors.
