Book SynopsisDrink and Drug Drive Case Notes comprises over six hundred summaries of the many cases on drink driving, and the fewercases on drug driving. This third edition includes notes of some seventy-five cases decided since the second edition was published.Trade Review'This book…is very good. …The first thing which is striking about the text is the ability to locate the salient points from each case…one is presented with a clear layout and structure of the circumstances of the case, the question for the court and the decision made, with a brief summary at the start of each case…extremely useful when researching a specific area of law…Of particular merit …is the almost exclusive use of judgments when relaying the decision that was made by the court. The judgments are relayed in part, but only the part essential to the dictum of the judge – useful when drafting a legal argument. In summary this book is extremely useful when defending or prosecuting cases involving drink or drug driving.' From a review in The Law Society Gazette.Table of ContentsChapter 1 The Requirement to Provide Specimens; Chapter 2 Replacement Specimens: Lower Breath Reading No More than 50; Chapter 3 Specimens for Laboratory Testing; Chapter 4 Failing Without Reasonable Excuse to Co-operate or to Provide Specimens; Chapter 5 Reasonable Excuse; Chapter 6 Challenging the Breath Testing and Breath Analysis Devices; Chapter 7 The Assumption that the Proportion of Alcohol or a Drug at the Time of the Offence was not Less than in the Specimen; Chapter 8 Evidence; Chapter 9 Definitions; Chapter 10 Defences; Chapter 11 Special Reasons; Chapter 12 Other Issues; Appendix Road Traffic Act 1988, Sections 3A to 11 Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988, ss 15, 16, 34

  • Congestion Pricing in Traffic Control

Nova Science Publishers Inc Congestion Pricing in Traffic Control

    Out of stock

Book SynopsisCongestion costs highway users billions of dollars every year. Although policymakers have adopted a variety of strategies for reducing or mitigating congestion, relatively little attention has been paid to policies to promote more efficient use of the highway system. One such policy is congestion pricing, under which drivers are charged a higher price for use of a highway at times or places with heavy traffic and a lower price in the opposite circumstances. This book explains how congestion pricing works, reviews the best available evidence on projects that make use of such pricing in order to assess the benefits and challenges of the approach, and discusses federal policy options for encouraging congestion pricing. Congestion pricing also can be linked to strategies to improve mobility by making alternatives to the private automobile, such as subways, buses or commuter rail service, more attractive during peak periods. The revenues generated by such pricing have sometimes been used to pay for improvements in public transportation systems. This book consists of public documents which have been located, gathered, combined, reformatted, and enhanced with a subject index, selectively edited and bound to provide easy access.

  • Paratransit: Shaping the Flexible Transport

Emerald Publishing Limited Paratransit: Shaping the Flexible Transport

Book SynopsisThe 1970's and 1980's witnessed both substantial conceptual and practical interest in paratransit across Europe and North America, as well as widespread implementation of paratransit services and strategies. Subsequently, the trajectory of paratransit (also often referred to as flexible transport systems) has waned, to the point where it is frequently relegated to a very narrow niche (often related to special needs) in the spectrum of collective transport services. More recently, technological advances have made feasible new and / or improved approaches for organizing and delivering local passenger transportation. With practice, policy and research in paratransit now being impacted by these developments, a new set of possibilities is emerging. Some practitioners have forged ahead over the past decade and implemented services and organizational models that show the way forward for what is possible, sometimes without the benefit of the most advanced available technologies. This book draws on a selection of papers presented at the International Paratransit Conference in Monterey in October 2014 to capture these exciting developments.Trade ReviewDrawn from the International Paratransit Conference, “Shaping the New Future of Paratransit,” held in Monterey, California, in October 2014, along with commissioned contributions, the 19 papers in this volume examine issues and trends related to flexible transport systems for people with disabilities and others. Transportation, engineering, and other specialists from around the world discuss changing contexts, including the role of regulatory and institutional structures, nonemergency medical transport, and the development of large-scale demand responsive transport; operational aspects like the role of volunteers, rural transport planning, cost reporting, decision making, delivering accessible transportation, and the concept of the Shared Mobility Services Agency for planning and managing collective transport services; case studies of sub-Saharan African cities, the UK, Australia, and rural Norway; and the future of new and evolving forms of paratransit and on-demand transport, including transportation network companies and carsharing. -- Annotation ©2016 * (protoview.com) *Table of Contents1. Out of stock
