American Registry of Pathology Tumors of the Serosal Membranes
Book SynopsisSince the 4th Series of this Fascicle was published, there have been considerable advances in our understanding of tumors within the serosal membranes, in particular the classification of mesothelial tumors and their genetics. This 5th Series Fascicle aligns with the terminology recommended by the WHO in its most recent edition for pleural and pericardial tumors, with expansion to reflect serosal membranes at other sites and including recognition of mesothelioma in situ.

American Registry of Pathology Tumors of the Ovary and Fallopian Tube
Book SynopsisThe complexity of ovary and fallopian tube pathology is striking, with dozens of tumor types. There is a greater appreciation now of the importance of hereditary cancer syndromes in ovarian and tubal malignancies, as two common autosomal dominant hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes include carcinomas of ovary or fallopian tube. This book is organized following the structure and terminology of the World Health Organization (WHO) classification of Female Genital Tumors, 5th edition. It includes some new entities that have been described since that book's publication in 2020 and provides detailed discussion of differential diagnosis, relevant ancillary tests, and strategies to approach diagnosis. In addition, discussions of the underlying biology of these tumors, as it relates to their diagnosis, are also presented. This fascicle provides an opportunity for deeper reading and quiet reflection about the progress that has been made in our understanding of tumors of the ovary since the previous landmark edition was published in 1998, as well as a respect for the numerous challenges that remain. Free digital access available with every print purchase. See inside the book for more details.

American Registry of Pathology Tumors of the Cervix, Vagina, and Vulva
Book SynopsisFree digital access available with every print purchase. See inside the book for more details. The classification and characteristics of tumors and tumor-like lesions of the female lower genital tract have remained relatively constant over the years, though shifts in nomenclature have occurred, and a comprehensive review of the diverse histomorphology and differential diagnosis of lesions at these sites is of paramount importance. Although female lower genital tract pathology is largely dominated by epithelial tumors, the pathologist will also encounter mesenchymal, melanocytic, and hematopoietic neoplasms. This fascicle provides a comprehensive discussion of these categories with emphasis on their wid¬ening clinical and pathologic spectrum as well as their evolving molecular landscape. The book conveys the authors’ extensive experience as pathologists devoted to women’s health and to ad¬vancing understanding of gynecologic disease.

American Registry of Pathology Non-Neoplastic Disorders of the Endocrine System
Book SynopsisFree digital access available with every print purchase. See inside the book for more details. In endocrine pathology, surgical pathologists often concentrate on neoplasms at the expense of nonneoplastic disease processes. This is unfortunate as nonneoplastic endocrine disorders are many times more common in the population. As in all fields of medicine, nonneo¬plastic endocrine diseases can closely mimic the neoplastic; an awareness of all aspects of pathology underpins routine clinical practice. This Fifth Series Fascicle offers pathologists and clinicians an opportunity to develop an increased understanding of nontumor endocrine pathology in order to inform patient care.

American Registry of Pathology Atlas of Placental Pathology
Book SynopsisThe placenta is an organ often neglected by surgical pathologists and clinicians alike. Placental diagnoses provide risk assessment for infant prognosis, recurrent risk for future pregnancies, and explanatory findings. There is widespread interest in placental diagnosis for the antenatal determinants of adult disease, inborn errors of metabolism, specific infections, malignancies, and assessing placental function in real time with the ultimate goal of affecting treatment. Due to the difficulties inherent in studying human gestation and gestational pathologies, much of what is known about the relevance of placental pathology is biased toward personal experience and retrospective studies. However, this book presents evidence-based information to the reader. The authors emphasize the need for an educated and directed sampling of the placenta through gross examination which will result in a better and more useful final diagnosis.

Springer International Publishing AG Imaging and Pathology of Pancreatic Neoplasms: A
Book SynopsisThe second edition of this atlas focuses on imaging methods and techniques, new diagnostic concepts and therapeutic approaches in management of pancreatic neoplasms. Although interest in pancreatic pathology is very high in the radiological and gastroenterological communities, less is known about it than about, for example, liver pathology. Diagnosis depends on the structure of the pancreatic lesion, which can be directly visualized in US, CT or MR images. The book’s focus is very much on the imaging and pathological appearances, with most of the text concentrated at the beginning of the book followed by images gallery. A comprehensive overview is provided of typical and atypical presentations and diverse aspects of common and rare pancreatic tumors, including ductal adenocarcinomas with dedicated chapter to ductal adenocarcinoma downstaging, neuroendocrine neoplasms, cystic pancreatic neoplasms and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms. The Verona “Pancreas Centre,” the first institute of its kind in Italy and one of very few in the world, pursues an interdisciplinary approach to treating the problems of this organ, focusing on the patient, on research, and on teaching. A dedicated center that can look back on 40 years of tradition, many of its respected specialists have made essential contributions in surgery, gastroenterology, oncology, pathology, and radiology. Nova Science Publishers Inc An Outline of Office-Based Bladder and Prostate
Book SynopsisThis book is intended for urologists and pathologists who practice in an office setting. In this setting, bladder and prostate diseases are most commonly encountered. Therefore, bladder and prostate biopsy and urine cytology specimens are frequently obtained by urologists, which require pathologists assistance to interpret. In the office setting, communication between urologists and pathologists becomes feasible, which is paramount for accurate diagnosis and better patient management. For this purpose, this book includes clinically relevant information for pathologists, concise pathology terminology, and diagnostic tests for urologists. This book describes the common clinical and pathological entities, and is written in a bullet format for easy and quick reference. For visual review, over 150 diagrams, histologic images, and other images are included. The first and second chapters describe bladder and prostate diseases, focusing on clinical-pathological correlation. Therefore, this book is also useful for pathology and urology residents in training, in preparation for board examination(s), or as a refresher reference for recertification. The third chapter is dedicated to office-based pathology laboratory services, which outlines laboratory instrumentation, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This information is useful for urologists and pathologists who are involved in the management of an office-based pathology laboratory. Finally, I greatly appreciate Josephine Wu DDS, Esq. and Miao Cui MD, MS, who contributed to this excellent third chapter.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Free Radicals in Medicine
Book SynopsisThe role of reactive oxygen species and other free radicals in normal and disease processes has become a major area of interest in the medical scientific community. In the past 30 years, this area of study has advanced from outright rejection, to general acceptance, to intense study. While there is still some dispute as to the exact role of these highly reactive molecules in pathology, it is clear that they are present in and influence many biological processes. This book provides an overview of the possible biological effects of reactive oxygen species and other free radicals with an emphasis on pathology. The various types of free radicals that may affect the body are discussed along with the potential sources of free radicals, both internal and external to the body. The extensive defenses the body raises against the effects of these molecules in the form of enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants is reviewed. A variety of conditions in which free radicals have been proposed to play a role are discussed. These include the physiological effects of oxygen stress in aging, exercise, and pregnancy. Pathologic conditions discussed include cancer, liver cirrhosis, respiratory problems, and others.
