Book SynopsisWhy did the Protestant culture of remembrance discover the clergyman Karl Friedrich Stellbrink, who was executed by the National Socialists, for itself only in the 1980s? Why are church leaders like the Bavarian regional bishop Hans Meiser, who have long been venerated as opponents of National Socialism, recently regarded as no longer worth remembering? And why has Elisabeth Schmitz's 1935 text, which described the "situation of German non-Aryans" with great clairvoyance and called on the Protestant Church to consistently stand up for the Jews, only recently enjoyed national and international attention in research and remembrance culture? The authors of this anthology address many other questions. The contributions show that the Protestant history of remembrance also has an active and functional relationship to its present and says far more about the power of current economic cycles in culture and politics than about the historical truth of what is remembered. Christian actors and groups actively pursued moral and political goals and formed their own identities through the memory of Christian resistance. It shows what committed promoters of remembrance can achieve when their goals are carried by cultural and political trends. Not least at the interface between personal commitment and zeitgeist it is decided why certain personalities, texts or places receive a place in the memory of Christian resistance, while others are forgotten or have to vacate their place in the culture of remembrance.

As part of this legacy we must also count Bengel's unsuccessful attempt to calculate the dates in redemption history.This edition of Bengel's correspondence, comprising several volumes, offers for the first time the entirety of the extant material (more than 3,100 letters to and from Bengel). Texts important for Bengel's biography, theology, educational theory or pastoral counseling are printed complete; others appear as detailed summaries of content. Passages and terms in foreign languages are translated into German. The textual apparatus provides an overview of the transmissional history of each letter; the expositional apparatus offers information on persons, events and book titles mentioned. Verschiedene Aspekte diesesProblems wurden an unterschiedlichen Orten des Reichs besonders intensiv debattiert, wobei die Begrifflichkeiten teils sehr schwankend waren. It goes without saying that it also applies to the 16th century and the early modern period as a whole. A well-known example of this is the improvement in printing techniques through the use of movable type. This led to the fact that new media emerged and established themselves permanently, such as the pamphlet and the "Neue Zeitung". Other already known genera such as songs and sermons acquired a new meaning in the controversies of the time due to the changed communication situation. This resulted in a variety of opportunities and challenges, because the use of this new media, such as the transformation of existing media formats and their widespread use, set in motion or promoted political, social, legal and religious change processes. Book SynopsisIn this systematic-theological study Florian Schmitz deals with -Discipleship" (1937), which, although one of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's major works, has been neglected in scholarship. Schmitz interprets "Discipleship" in the context of Bonhoeffer's life and work, allowing the consistency of Bonhoeffer's theology to come to light, contrary to how it has been received in research so far. Furthermore, the manner in which Bonhoeffer uses the given historical situation for concrete theology is highlighted, particularly Bonhoeffer's understanding of the world and the relationship between "Discipleship" and "Ethics".
