Pegasus Books Eat Like a Pig, Run Like a Horse: How Food Fights
Book SynopsisThere is no magic pill. There is no perfect diet. Could it be that our underlying assumption—that what we’re eating is making us fat and sick—is just plain wrong? To address the rapid rise of “lifestyle diseases” like diabetes and heart disease, scientists have conducted a whopping 500,000 studies of diet and another 300,000 of obesity. Journalists have written close to 250 million news articles combined about these topics. Yet nothing seems to halt the epidemic. Anastacia Marx de Salcedo’s Eat Like a Pig, Run Like a Horse looks not just to data-driven science, but to animals and the natural world around us for a new approach. What she finds will transform the national debate about the root causes of our most pervasive diseases and offer hope of dramatically reducing the number who suffer—no matter what they eat. It all began with her own medical miracle—she has multiple sclerosis but has discovered that daily exercise was key to keeping it from progressing. And now, new research backs up her own experience. This revelation prompted Marx de Salcedo to ask what would happen if people with lifestyle illnesses put physical activity front and center in their daily lives? Eat Like a Pig, Run Like a Horse takes us on a fascinating journey that weaves together true confessions, mad(ish) scientists, and beguiling animal stories. Marx de Salcedo shows that we need to move beyond our current diet-focused model to a new, dynamic concept of metabolism as regulated by exercise. Suddenly the answer to good health is almost embarrassingly simple. Don’t worry about what you eat. Worry about how much you move. In a few years’ time, adhering to a finicky Keto, Paleo, low-carb, or any other special diet to stay healthy will be as antiquated as using Daffy’s Elixir or Dr. Bonker’s Celebrated Egyptian Oil—popular “medicines” from the 1800s—to cure disease. And just as the 19th-century health revolution was based on a new understanding that the true cause of malaria, tuberculosis, and cholera was microorganisms, so the coming 21st-century one will be based on our new understanding that exercise is the only way to metabolic health. Fascinating and brilliant, Eat Like a Pig, Run Like a Horse is primed to usher in that new era.Trade ReviewAdvance praise for Eat Like a Pig, Run like a Horse:"The thesis of this book is sound: regular physical activity is more important for good health and longevity than your weight and diet. Marx de Salcedo denounces 'the false prophets of diet-focused health.' She constructs her case for exercise's crucial role in interviews with researchers and experts and briefly reviews relevant information on nutrition, metabolism, and aerobic fitness...As a population, we generally move much too little and eat too copiously, an unfortunate formula for developing chronic diseases and shortened lives. Regular exercise enhances physical and mental health. The benefits of simply moving your body are potentially life-changing." * Booklist *“We wouldn’t eat the way we do, Anastacia Marx de Salcedo argues, if it weren’t for the Army. She has a fascinating tale to tell—of technology and ingenuity—before arriving at her doubts. The reader of Ms. Salcedo’s chronicle is likely to look at our daily fare with a fresh sense of appreciation.” * The Wall Street Journal *“A rollicking, yet encyclopedic, look at the Army's role in everything from industrialized meats to energy bars." * VOX *“A well-researched effort that will undoubtedly add to general readers' knowledge about the food they consume on a daily basis.” * Kirkus Reviews *“Ever wonder why you can buy frozen pizza that stays “fresh” for five-plus months? Thank the U.S. military, which has outsize influence on the contents of our modern-day grocery carts, writes Anastacia Marx de Salcedo.” * TIME *“An engaging, wide-ranging investigation” * Discover Magazine *“Meticulous, exhaustive, and fair-minded.” * PRI The World *“Insightful.” * Mother Jones *

I had a teacher once who told me that learning through pleasure was the highest form of learning. As Julia shares in her own poetic and soul-deep style, she didn’t begin there. She arrived there after a long journey. In The Healing Power of Pleasure, she shares the fruit of her work. As anyone who has taken the journey knows, fruit is the result of years of digging and composting. The more real the journey, the sweeter the medicine. Go on, take a sweet apple from this Tree of Knowledge.” * Ya’Acov Darling Khan, shaman, cofounder of Movement Medicine, and author of Jaguar in the Body *“In this thoughtful exploration of our emotional, logical, creative, and sensual selves, Julia Paulette Hollenbery’s innate gentle wisdom, knowledge, and understanding shines through on every page. This is without doubt a must-read book that could change your life and powerfully enhance your capacity to experience pleasure and embodiment in the world.” * Lynne Sedgmore, CBE, author of Crone Times and Healing Through the Goddess *“I found Julia’s exploration of pleasure and deliciousness so powerful. She looks at our society’s present and past tendency to overlook the realities of life, to get lost in ego and need. As Julia writes, ‘The modern perspective on life is often divisive, emphasizing analysis, cause or effect, compare and contrast.’ She orients the reader to the ‘messiness’ of our life and explores how we can shift our orientation from conditioning and fear to spontaneity and pleasure, to appreciate the ‘mess’ we are in and live life to the fullest. I so appreciated her writing and can highly recommend it!” * Franklyn Sills, cofounder of the Karuna Institute and author of The Polarity Process, Being and Beco *“This book is a doorway to an inner world, allowing us to enter a new adventure while still very much being fully in the body and in the creative magical mystery of life.” * Steve Nobel, spiritual coach, founder of Soul Matrix Healing, and author of The Enlightenment of Wor *“A helpful handbook toward a new birthing in our hearts, encouraging us to savour the delights to be found within a lifetime in the material world. It focuses on the God within that is interconnected with our human relationship and our relationship with animate and inanimate objects. It is a scream to put an end to demonizing physical and emotional pleasure. The text celebrates the masculine and feminine principles of life as well as the intersection of the sacred and the profane while tapping into some of life’s scientific and intuitive principles for good health." * Reedsy Discovery *"After diagnosing various features of what the author calls messy modernity and our resulting quality-of-life, she asserts that magic is still possible and that we can rediscover the innate joy of being. In this way the reader takes a journey into more intentional, aware, mindful and joyful living while listening to and reconnecting with the body. Relationships play a very important role, while pleasure is reframed in a positive fashion that goes beyond our conditioning. Inner Traditions Bear and Company The Lone Ranger and Tonto Meet Buddha: Masks,
Book SynopsisReveals how to use masks, meditation, and improvisation to free yourself from overthinking, self-doubt, and fixed ideas of who you think you are Sharing a series of mindfulness techniques and acting exercises that show how malleable the self can be, award-winning actor, narrator, and Zen Buddhist priest Peter Coyote reveals how to use masks, meditation, and improvisation to free yourself from fixed ideas of who you think you are and help you release your ego from constant defensive strategizing, calm the mind’s overactivity, and allow spontaneous playfulness to arise out of your deepest nature. Developed through 40 years of research and personal study, Coyote’s synthesis of mask-based improv games and Zen practices is specifically designed to create an ego-suppressed state akin to the mystical experiences of meditation or the spiritual awakenings of psychedelics. After preparatory exercises, seeing yourself in a mask will temporarily displace your familiar self and the spirit of the mask will take over. Likening the liberated state induced by mask work to “Enlightenment-lite,” Coyote draws on Buddhist philosophy to describe how and why the exercises work as well as how to make your newly awakened and confident self part of daily life. In true Zen form, woven throughout the narrative is a lighthearted parable of an out-of-work Lone Ranger and Tonto, who meet Buddha and experience spiritual awakening. Illuminating the lessons of mask work, the transformation of the Lone Ranger mirrors that of the individual pursuing this practice, revealing how you will come to realize that the world is more magical and vaster than you thought possible.Trade Review“Remembering that a neutral mask class in college was one of the few acting exercises I found really useful, I was curious to see how an accomplished actor like Peter Coyote would tie mask work to the tenets of Buddhist philosophy. Through the lens of the Lone Ranger and Tonto, Coyote cleverly conveys the message of finding oneself by losing oneself. I highly recommend this book to every actor--veteran or fledgling--indeed to every human who has ever felt constrained by the voices of self-criticism in their head.” * Jean Smart, Emmy Award-winning actor *“This pithy book is flat-out brilliant. It weaves together deep Buddhist teaching, the magic of improv and mask work, and a compelling dialogue between three iconic characters, each of whom represent an aspect of the spiritual path. Only Peter Coyote in all his facets and talents could have written this book. I’m glad he did.” * Lewis Richmond, author of Aging as a Spiritual Practice *“In a world full of ideas about getting the advantage, gaining the edge or greater power, and improving your position or standing, it is so utterly refreshing to have a master speak of liberation from our long-standing ego conundrums to acknowledge and invite energy from the beyond to flow through, shape, and inform our thoughts, action, and speech. Story, masks, meditation--by all means--you are you before you have a thought, and you have the freedom to manifest the person, to wear the mask, of your choosing. Go ahead! Drop the striving and have some fun with this play of language brought forth by the wily Coyote.” * Edward Espe Brown, Zen priest and author of The Tassajara Bread Book *“In The Lone Ranger and Tonto Meet Buddha, I spent time not just with masks but with the craft of masking as a method of becoming more awake. I entered mask classes and met not only the teacher and the teaching but the students and what they were getting out of it. In this book are solid Buddhist commentary, intriguing story, and from that mix, I sense an emerging American discipline that unites theater and dharma--the Way of the Mask.” * David Chadwick, author of Crooked Cucumber: The Life and Zen Teaching of Shunryu Suzuki *“In this wild and wonderful book, Coyote weaves together his practices of Zen Buddhism and meditation with his experiences in theater and film, and as a well-known narrator of documentary drama. In the process, he teaches us how to put on and take off all our masks. The outcome is a bunch of fresh new techniques of exploring and gaining freedom from the suffering of a separate self. I encourage you to go on this spiritual journey with Coyote. It is a path true to the great tradition of ‘crazy wisdom.’ And this is the last self-help book you’ll ever need.” * Wes Scoop Nisker, author of The Essential Crazy Wisdom and Buddha’s Nature *Table of ContentsAUTHOR’S PREFACE A True Holiday from Self-Consciousness PART ONE Finding the Secrets 1 Losing Myself2 The Wheel’s Spinning, but the Gerbil’s Gone 3 Working with Masks 4 Just Who Do You Think You Are? 5 Tricking and Trapping the Self 6 Inviting the Shock of Recognition7 You Think It’s a Game? At the root of this multi- orgasmic pleasure is the prostate gland (the male G-spot) as well as cannabinoids, a group of chemical compounds found in cannabis that relax the mind and body, sensitize the genitals, and arouse the prostate gland. In this step-by-step guide, Cliff Dunning details how to awaken the prostate, or P-spot, using internal massage, intention, and microdosing with cannabis in order to experience powerful multiple orgasms. He examines the importance of the prostate as a sex organ, why maintaining its good health is vital for overall wellness and longevity, and the role the prostate plays in sexual satisfaction as well as why men need regular orgasms. Examining how cannabis can act as an aphrodisiac, the author explores its ability to increase sexual pleasure, lower inhibitions, enhance blood flow, open neural pathways, sensitize the genitals, and trigger potent orgasms through the endocannabinoid system of the human body. He investigates the cannabis strains developed to induce high states of arousal and explains how to use this plant medicine as a sexual sacrament to activate pleasure centers and open the door to multiple orgasms. He details techniques for successfully stimulating the prostate to nonejaculatory orgasm with internal massage, including specific recommendations for prostate massagers. Witch Wisdom for Magical Aging is sheer wisdom cloaked in love, humor, and glorious sensuality. Cait Johnson has written a book so desperately needed in this world, not only to dispel the myths of growing older but to celebrate its delicious secrets. Think you know what happens as we age? Think again. Read this beauty.” * Alise Marie, author of The Beauty Witch’s Secrets *“How comforting to be taken in hand--and heart--by these four wise witches with their ancient knowledge of the seasons and of our lives. If you have ever felt daunted by the challenges of aging, here you will find courage and inspiration, kindness and good counsel. Practical and lyrical, Cait Johnson’s beautiful book is an invitation both to new adventure and timeless homecoming.” * Elizabeth Cunningham, author of The Maeve Chronicles series *“In Witch Wisdom for Magical Aging, Cait Johnson covers an often-neglected topic, helping women to age in a healthy and magical way. And, since women are all different, she presents many different aspects of aging, using the four elements and their seasons as a backdrop. From practical advice, inspirational wisdom, and rituals and activities, there is something here for everyone, no matter what kind of witch you are. Most of all, Johnson encourages us all to find peace, acceptance, and joy in our older selves.” * Alice Karlsdóttir, author of Norse Goddess Magic *“Old age is lots more than crepey, creepy skin and wrinkles. As Cait Johnson tells us, the usually pejorative words ‘crone’ and ‘hag’ really mean ‘crown’ and ‘holy.’ When we follow the advice of the four witches of the seasons in this book, we can attain our own holy (and practical) wisdom. We can put on our own crowns. The guys say that ‘getting old ain’t for sissies.’ Well, guys, witches are not sissies! We read this book, we grow, we get wiser and more beautiful, we live our holy lives.” * Barbara Ardinger, Ph.D., author of Secret Lives and Finding New Goddesses *“When we women reach a ‘certain age’ there is often no one there to show us the next steps. Older women need an even older woman to illuminate the path ahead--and that is what Cait Johnson has done. Too often we are greeted by images and accounts of goddesses who are described as young, nubile, and objects of desire. It is refreshing to be reminded of the divinity within the hag (from the Greek hagios, ‘holy’). This book would make a perfect gift at a croning rite or for any woman over the age of fifty or so, no matter the occasion. It would also make a delicious gift to yourself, whatever age you might be, with its many hints and advice for self-nurturance.” * Ellen Evert Hopman, author of The Sacred Herbs of Samhain *“I learned so much from this wise, witty book of unexpected delights. Cait Johnson extends a generous invitation to journey from earthy practicalness to sublime mysteries. With loving guidance from the supernatural voices of the four witches who turn the Wheel of the Year, this book inspires us to imagine the dream of our elder selves.” * Starr Goode, author of Sheela na gig *“This sorceress’s brew contains the soulful warmth of a therapist, the thoughtful pedagogy of a beloved teacher, a poet’s sensitivity to language’s intricacies, and a feminist’s clear-eyed truth and rebel yell. Visit and revisit these pages, not just for the wonderful recipes, rituals, and meditations but to spend more quality time in the company of Johnson’s witches who, by book’s end, feel like soul friends. Women of a certain age: feast on this book to feast on your life.” * Lissa Kiernan, author of Two Faint Lines in the Violet *“Cait Johnson’s words are like a broomstick ride into the enchantment of aging and its rich underground cave of Feminine Mysteries. This world needs the full power and presence of the crone with her medicine cabinet of earned wisdom, compassion, and paradoxes. Witch Wisdom for Magical Aging returns the aging woman to her noble throne. I look forward even more to becoming a crone after drinking in the power and insight in this book.” * Maya Luna, creator of Deep Feminine Mystery School *“Witch Wisdom for Magical Aging offers an irreplaceable compendium of lifetested wisdom, straight from the hands of one of today’s most powerful Wise Women. Blessed be you, Cait Johnson, for stirring up such a rare cauldron of delicious, inspiring, and practical delights!” * Annie Finch, author of The Poetry Witch Little Book of Spells *“Witch Wisdom for Magical Aging is a fabulous book that teaches real wisdom through fictional storytellers, adding a bit of whimsy to the mix. It is a perfect guide for those who want to embrace the magic of aging and the power of the Crone. This book is perfect for those new to the craft, as well as the seasoned witch stepping into the next incarnation of their magical self!” * Salicrow, author of The Path of Elemental Witchcraft *Table of ContentsFOREWORD Apprentice Ancestors by Caitlín Matthews INTRODUCTION A Magical Invitation WINTER Root Witch Wisdom from the CaveACCEPTANCE AND AFFECTION FOR YOUR SACRED BODY • DREAMING INTO YOUR WISDOM YEARS • POWER ANIMAL ALLIES FOR CRONES • CONNECTING WITH EARTH IN WINTER • FINAL WORDS FROM THE ROOT WITCH: MAKING PEACE WITH YOURSELF SPRINGWinged Witch Wisdom from the Tree House MAGICAL FEATHERS: DRESSING FOR YOUR SPIRIT • FEATHERING YOUR SOUL NEST • THE ENERGY OF HOME • YOUR SPIRIT FLOCK • CONNECTING WITH AIR IN SPRING FINAL WORDS FROM THE WINGED WITCH: SPRING ALWAYS RETURNS SUMMER Merwitch Wisdom from the Seaside BonfireCRONES CREATE • SENSUAL LOVING AND LIVING • SILVER FOXES: THE LIBERATION OF SEX AFTER FIFTY • THE FIRE OF ANGER AS YOUR ALLY • FREEDOM • THE POWER OF GRANDMOTHERS • CONNECTING WITH FIRE IN SUMMER • FINAL WORD FROM THE MERWITCH: LOVE AUTUMN Kitchen Witch Wisdom from the River CottageARCHETYPES OF THE WILD, WISE OLD WOMAN • HARVEST OF INSPIRATION • LESSONS FROM THE LEAVES: LETTING GO • MAKING PEACE WITH MOTHER DEATH • FOOD AND FEASTS FOR THE SOUL • CONNECTING WITH WATER IN AUTUMN • FINAL WORD FROM THE KITCHEN WITCH: THE FEAST OF LIFE APPENDIX Magical Helpers GratitudeIndex

Inner Traditions Bear and Company Being Nature: A Down-to-Earth Guide to the Four
Book SynopsisHow to tune in to our own biology in pursuit of spiritual awakening• Provides a practical program, complete with enjoyable, even playful meditations, for realizing greater self-awareness, increased wisdom, and happiness• Shows how recent discoveries in physics, evolutionary biology, and psychology express in scientific terms the same insights the Buddha discovered more than 2,500 years ago• Reveals the origins of attachments, desires, emotions, and thoughts in our own bodiesTaking us on an evolutionary journey to find the origins of emotions, desires, and thoughts in our own bodies, Wes “Scoop” Nisker shows not only how cutting-edge science is proving the tenets of the Buddha but also how we can interpret the traditional practices of Buddhism through this scientific lens for more personal freedom and peace of mind. Using the traditional Buddhist meditation series of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness as a framework, Nisker offers a witty narrative along with practical meditations and exercises to train the mind to overcome painful conditioning and gain greater self-awareness, increased wisdom, and happiness. He shows how recent discoveries in physics, evolutionary biology, and psychology express in scientific terms the same insights the Buddha discovered more than 2,500 years ago, such as the impermanence of the body, where thoughts come from, and how the body communicates within itself. Presenting a variety of new ways to harness the power of mindfulness to transform our understanding of both ourselves and the world, Nisker teaches us how to put our understanding of evolution in the service of spiritual awakening.Trade Review“Wes Nisker is one of my all-time favorite teachers. With tremendous warmth and wit, he shows us a path to profound inner peace that is grounded in both science and the liberating insights of the Buddha. Each page of this timeless classic shines with humor, beautiful and clear writing, fascinating research--and the heartfelt invitation to find lasting love and happiness right in the middle of life itself.” * Rick Hanson, Ph.D., author of Buddha’s Brain *“A brilliant and inspirational weave of Buddhist teachings and current science. Not only that, it’s a delightful read--fascinating, humorous, and profoundly engaging. Highly recommended!” * Tara Brach, Ph.D., author of Radical Acceptance *“This book brings to life an ancient meditative wisdom that has the deepest of relevance to our lives as individuals and as a species. It is a masterful look at who we are and how great our potential is to realize our true nature here and now, before this fleeting moment we call ‘our’ life dissolves back into all life and the opportunity of a lifetime is missed.” * Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of mindfulness-based stress reduction *“A milestone in contemporary Buddhism. Nisker grounds the Buddha’s teachings in discoveries made by the neural and evolutionary sciences. I dare you to find a book on science that is so personal or a book on meditation that is so funny and forgiving.” * Joanna Macy, Ph.D., environmental activist, Buddhist scholar, and author of A Wild Love for the Worl *“One of the best efforts yet to bring together meditators and scientists. It is an instrument for our greater joy and achievements.” * Thich Nhat Hanh (1926-2022), Zen master and author of Peace Is Every Step *“With careful and heartfelt reflections, Wes Nisker, drawing upon Buddhist practices, lays out a path whereby humanity can ride the truths of science into a sublime and joyful freedom. This book is truly a healing and historic achievement.” * Brian Swimme, Ph.D., professor of evolutionary cosmology at the California Institute of Integral Stu *“A joy to read--an illuminating and often humorous synthesis of ancient Buddhist understanding and present-day discoveries in biology and cognitive science. Wes Nisker grounds the theory in his own deep experience of meditation, offering a wealth of practical mind-exploring exercises that transform knowledge into wisdom. It is a wonderful book.” * Joseph Goldstein, cofounder of the Insight Meditation Society and author of One Dharma: The Emerging *“What delight and illumination are contained in these pages! Science (particularly evolutionary biology) and religion have lacked a common language in which to converse--Wes Nisker’s book manages to articulate a new dialect that not only syncretizes a host of important principles but also is music to the ear.” * Ajahn Amaro, abbot of Amaravati Buddhist Monastery and author of An Introduction to the Life and Tea *“Nisker’s prose has always been engaging, but here he writes with greater maturity, without sacrificing the impishness that has characterized his earlier work. In time, people will consider Being Nature as groundbreaking a work as an earlier classic of interdisciplinary synthesis, The Tao of Physics.” * Yoga Journal *“…in Being Nature: A Down-to-Earth Guide to the Four Foundations of Mindfulness (Inner Traditions) Wes 'Scoop' Nisker has created a playfully genuine, thoroughgoing program of meditations, drawing from fields of physics, evolutionary biology, and psychology. With tender wit, Nisker provides exercises and scientific extracts to help the reader step outside of conditioned patterns. For the spiritual skeptic, he explains with curiosity and awe how recent research in science-based disciplines is increasingly offering us the same insights the Buddha experienced and taught more than 2,500 years ago. Nisker’s book is a friendly but nevertheless unflinching set of reflections and body-awareness exercises that may help the reader reframe scientific thinking and spiritual awakening as threads of the same fabric.” * Lion's Roar *“…in Being Nature: A Down-to-Earth Guide to the Four Foundations of Mindfulness (Inner Traditions) Wes “Scoop” Nisker has created a playfully genuine, thoroughgoing program of meditations, drawing from fields of physics, evolutionary biology, and psychology. Inner Traditions Bear and Company The Secret of Resilience: Healing Personal and
Book SynopsisRestore resilience at its developmental source through energy medicine When neuroscientist Stephanie Mines started practising the hands-on healing art of Jin Shin, she began to unravel the mystery of trauma and the secret to resilience. As a survivor of early childhood abuse, police brutality as a social justice activist, and a series of dysfunctional and abusive relationships, Mines was profoundly curious about how the human nervous system finds resilience despite the cumulative burden of chronic stress and traumatic life events. While earning her doctorate in neuropsychology, she met Mary Iino Burmeister, master of the art of Jin Shin, through one of Mary’s first American students, Pamela Markarian Smith, founder of the Jin Shin Institute. Jin Shin consists of non-invasive touch, using the fingertips, on sites of the body that are similar to acupuncture points. After Jin Shin helped Mines resolve her own trauma and awaken her innate resilience, she began to incorporate it into her clinical research. She discovered that the Jin Shin sites correlate with the Chinese Extraordinary Meridians or Rivers of Splendor, which develop prenatally. She then began investigating our earliest neurodevelopmental processes and was able to correlate the Jin Shin sites with specific embryological events. She found that subtle touch on these sites in combination with trauma resolution amplifies neuroresilience, enhances creativity, restores motivation, and heals the fragmentation and disconnection associated with trauma and shock. Sharing her personal journey as a wounded healer, Mines reveals not only how to unlock the secrets of resilience for individual healing but also how embodied resilience will help us heal our wounded planet.Trade Review“A precious gift of the heart. Mines understands both the tragedy of trauma and the opportunity it creates for us to regain agency and remember who we are. She offers a blueprint that we can use to access primal energies at the source of our authenticity. When we access this flow of energy, we become more aware of the habituated patterns of survival that are no longer serving us. If we can see or feel these patterns, then we have choice. When we have choice, we are empowered. When we are empowered, we can be more fully who we are. If we can do this, we are no longer just surviving, we are thriving. This is how the world is saved.” * —Yvonne R. Farrell, DAOM, L.Ac., author of Psycho-Emotional Pain and the Eight Extraordinary V *“It is time to remember your sacred wholeness as a human being— drawing on your innate wisdom for resilience and well-being. Through intimate stories and sacred principles, you will understand that you are a vital part of the Hoop of Life. If you wish to be more resilient and to be the ambassador of your well-being then read The Secret of Resilience.” * Anita Sanchez, Ph.D., author of The Four Sacred Gifts *“This is a book for the times in which we live. The Secret of Resilience will surprise you with its simplicity, accessibility, humanity, and beauty. Stephanie presents us with a path forward that feels both possible and necessary. This is a must-read for those who are awake to what is ahead for us.” * Clare Dubois, founder of TreeSisters *“Stephanie Mines’s numinous and lyrical memoir gorgeously embodies healing in Interbeing. Its profound truths shift our understanding of what it means to be human, especially as we relate to birth, Gaia, and cosmos. It will unwind the fields of trauma, bodywork, acupuncture, embryology, and all of medicine.” * Stella Osorojos Eisenstein, DAOM, IMT *“It is hard work weaving poetry into the gritty work of healing trauma, but Mines has managed to produce a book that is both medicinal and mystical.” * Sophie Strand, author of The Flowering Wand and The Madonna Secret *“The Secret of Resilience brings decades of academic and personal insight into focus from an embryological and neurodevelopmental standpoint. As Mines states, we have a birthright of resilience. This book is sure to be of enormous help to many people wading out of the muck of trauma into this inheritance.” * Trista Hendren, publisher of Girl God Books *“This book is an ‘allegiance to the earth’ and an invitation to reunite with our birthright.” * Cheryl Pallant, Ph.D., author of Ecosomatics *“This book appears at the precise time that it is needed for planetary evolution. Inner Traditions Bear and Company The Wisdom of Wildness: Healing the Trauma of
Book SynopsisAfter more than twenty years as a professional horsewoman, and applying what she had learned to a half-wild husky dog, Ren Hurst decided to take a deep look into the nature of domestication and humanity’s relationship to other animals. She found that our own domestication--and our resultant disconnection from nature--is the root trauma for much of the human experience, perpetuated by our domestication of others. She then reverse-engineered the conditioning process that leads to domestication and discovered a practical roadmap for deprogramming and undomesticating yourself in order to heal trauma, restore connection, and reclaim the innate wisdom of wildness within. Sharing enlightening moments from her journey of taking in and connecting with her husky, Denali, the author explains how their growing relationship was testing her to her limits. Yet when she embraced the principles of unconditional love, she found the instinct and intuition necessary so she and the dog could understand one another and find their rightful places within the power dynamics of guardian and dependent. The author shows how, when there is emotional awareness and authentic leadership that links in with your own wild parts, an authentic relationship between human and animal--or between one’s self and another person--is possible. Looking at the domestication of humanity, the author explains the nature of trauma and disconnection from the perspective of emotional development. She unveils 13 principles of unconditional love for deprogramming yourself, healing the trauma of domestication, and restoring deep connection to inner guidance, your wild soul, and, ultimately, freedom. She also offers experiential practices to help you cultivate authentic, undomesticated relationships free of exploitation and codependency, whether with human or animal companions. Helping you reclaim the innate wildness within, Ren Hurst explores how to rewild your heart, receive guidance from your wild soul, and approach your life path with authenticity and emotional maturity.Trade Review“Transformation has a sound, and it’s the voice of Ren Hurst weaving words of wisdom back into the wild flute of our collective spine. Through gorgeous storytelling, Ren explores the devastation of domestication through rewilding experiences with animals. This book is an invitation to feel it all AND cultivate lives of sanctuary!” * Amy Tuttle, wilderness and threshold guide, council facilitator, and arts and healing practitioner *“A brave and inspiring story that urges us to reclaim the innate wildness within. Ren’s 13 principles reflect her dedication to unconditional love and are a foundation for a new, wild, and true relationship not just with the animals we care for but with our authentic animal human selves.” * Fay Johnstone, shamanic herbalist, Reiki teacher, and author of Plant Spirit Reiki and Plants That S *“The Wisdom of Wildness is a brilliant journey of self-discovery. The magic in applying Sanctuary13 principles takes one deeper than imagined to be the conduit of light for oneself while interacting with all of creation, particularly being a conscious human walking the earth. The magical words within this book will invite you to that place of what true self-love is.” * Franny Harcey, HTCP, Healing Touch certified practitioner and intuitive *“Who do we really want to be in this precious lifetime? Wanting is the first step; getting there amid the many pressures of modern life also takes know-how. Through her many years of experience and experiment to reveal what gets in the way of her own relationships with humans and animals, Ren is now able to offer us a pathway of 13 principles of intention and attention as an essential guide for transformation--what has been for her can now be available for each person willing to commit to such a journey of connection--a connection with oneself and with one another. The Wisdom of Wildness is an invitation to embark on a journey inward. Inner Traditions Bear and Company Ozone Therapy for the Treatment of Viruses: The
Book SynopsisOne of our immune system’s key defences is ozone, an oxygen molecule (O3) naturally produced by our antibodies to fight germs, viruses, and other invaders. For more than a century, doctors have used ozone therapy to effectively and safely treat a wide variety of diseases, including Ebola, SARS, and, most recently, Covid-19. Revealing ozone therapy’s enormous potential to bring health to millions, Marc Seifer, Ph.D., explores its science and history as well as its success in the treatment of viruses such as Covid-19, pneumonia, tuberculosis, Lyme disease, and the flu. He examines research performed by scientists and medical doctors going back more than 200 years that conclusively shows that ozone is a powerful disinfectant with antibacterial and antiviral properties. He shares articles from leading ozone therapy doctors and researchers, including Robert Rowen, M.D., and Howard Robins, D.P.M., who travelled to West Africa in 2014 to combat the Ebola outbreak with ozone therapy, and Gerard Sunnen, M.D., who has been researching the beneficial effects of ozone therapy on coronaviruses. Explaining how ozone therapy works, the author examines its therapeutic benefits, including how it inhibits inflammation, activates antioxidant defences, and optimises the ability of the body’s tissue to use oxygen. He also shares numerous case studies from more than a dozen doctors in six different countries to show how Covid-19 patients have been treated successfully with ozone therapy. Unmasking the suppression of this revolutionary therapy by the FDA, Seifer shows not only how ozone therapy is effective against current viruses such as Covid-19 and Ebola but also how it can help the immune system learn to protect itself against emerging future viruses.Trade Review“Written in conjunction with four medical doctors, Ozone Therapy for the Treatment of Viruses provides a fascinating and thoughtful history of the field and a sober look at a present-day mindset that has ignored what I have known through my own scientific research and practice. Ozone therapy is a medically safe germicidal that can kill viruses. Highly informative, here is a book that can provide a rational approach to disabling not only COVID-19 but also highly dangerous bacterial infections and emerging viruses as well.” * Mark Hyman, M.D., New York Times bestselling author and senior advisor at the Cleveland Clinic Cente *“According to Seifer, the widespread use of ozone therapy as a treatment for COVID-19 could have saved millions of lives and the world trillions of dollars. While he advocates for vaccinations, he contends that ozone therapy is a safe and effective treatment for both the vaccinated and unvaccinated that boasts a robust track record of success. Seifer presents his case meticulously, citing not only the clinical evidence in support of ozone therapy but also its documented use for COVID-19 in places like Spain and Italy as well as for burn victims, those with various viral diseases, and against the superbugs that plague hospital systems. The author provides an accessible history of the treatment and a concise overview of the inner workings of the immune system, along with the testimony of doctors who have used it with success and patients who have received it. At the heart of the issue is the vigorous opposition mounted against the treatment by the Food and Drug Administration and the American Medical Association as well as the pharmaceutical industry. Seifer presents his criticisms of those organizations with impressive composure and evenhandedness. Will readers be convinced? This is such a complex issue that a conversion is unlikely to occur. But the author’s work will probably stimulate further research and even provocatively raise suspicions about the opposition of certain quarters of the medical establishment. A well-researched introduction to a muchmaligned therapeutic tool.” * Kirkus Reviews *“If ever a book was needed, Ozone Therapy for the Treatment of Viruses is right on time. SARS-CoV-2 has infected the world. A safe and effective treatment was available from the beginning of this illness. Ozone, which costs pennies, is a very effective antiviral agent. It has a long history of success in treating viral infections. For nearly 30 years I have successfully used ozone along with other nutritional and oxidative therapies in my practice to treat viral infections, including patients suffering from COVID- 19. Ozone as a medicinal therapy is unparalleled. This book can give you the knowledge on how to successfully fight viral infections such as SARS-CoV-2.” * David Brownstein, M.D., author of A Holistic Approach to Viruses *“A valuable resource about applications of medical ozone to treat COVID and other viral infections. A must-read for both health care consumers and medical professionals.” * Nathaniel Altman, author of The New Oxygen Prescription and The Honey Prescription *“A well-founded presentation of the effectiveness of ozone therapy, which opens a new therapeutic field to fight viruses.” * Christopher Vasey, N.D., author of Lymph Health and Natural Antibiotics and Antivirals *Table of ContentsINTRODUCTION The Pathway Out of Epidemics and Pandemics PART I Innovation and Suppression 1 Pandemics and the Promise of Ozone: How Two Intrepid Doctors Went to West Africa to Destroy Ebola 2 The History of Ozone 3 Ozone Therapy Timeline 4 The FDA and Ozone Therapy: An Uncomfortable Retrospective 5 How the AMA Got Rich Dana Ullman, MPH, CCHPART II The Research6 The Immune System7 Physiological Effects of Ozone Therapy on the BodyLouise Pyper8 MERS, SARS, Coronaviruses:Theoretical Considerations for Critical Care Oxygen/Ozone Therapy Gerard Sunnen, M.D.9 Did Nikola Tesla Discover a Treatment for COVID-19 over 100 Years Ago? Inner Traditions Bear and Company The Persistence of the Soul: Mediums, Spirit
Book SynopsisCompelling evidence for afterlife messages backed by scientific research. After the unexpected passing of his youngest son, Mark Ireland began a search for messages from the afterlife and discovered remarkable proof of life after death. Interweaving profound personal experience and compelling scientific evidence, Ireland presents a deep dive into psychic-medium phenomena, spirit visitations, after-life communication, reincarnation, synchronicity, and near-death experiences, pointing to the survival of consciousness after bodily death. He details how he confronted his resistance to engaging in the spiritual and parapsychological practices of his deceased father, prominent 20th-century psychic Dr. Richard Ireland, who counseled celebrities such as Mae West and the Eisenhower family. On his journey, he meets with respected mediums who deliver unexpected messages from his son, father, and others who have passed and explores the healing impact that such messages can have on people who are grieving. He shares his interviews with mediums to understand how they see, hear, and feel the information they receive from the spirits of the deceased, and he explains how to recognise fraudulent mediums. Ireland presents detailed accounts of scientific experiments conducted to obtain evidence for the continuity of consciousness, including the author’s own test involving a secret message left behind by his deceased sister, Robin. The contents of this message were unknown to any living person and remained sealed in an envelope until the author received messages from a group of mediums. He exposes deceptive arguments made by skeptics and examines mediumship through the lens of multiple religious traditions—including some factions who seek to demonise the practice. Showing how spirit communication can be undeniably accurate and frustratingly ambiguous, Ireland reveals the profound healing and transformative possibilities available to those who come to believe in the persistence of the soul.Trade Review“The Persistence of the Soul could not be more timely. Mark Ireland provides guidelines for those who want to attempt communicating with deceased loved ones and his comments are housed in anecdotes from his own experiences, some of them poignant and some humorous. He also provides historical context that illustrates the ubiquity of mediumship through the ages and does so with just enough skepticism to make his account authentic.” * Stanley Krippner, Ph.D., coauthor of Extraordinary Dreams and How to Work with Them *“Mark Ireland raises fundamental questions about the nature and fate of human consciousness. This touching, heartfelt account takes its place in the enlarging body of evidence suggesting that death is not final.” * Larry Dossey, M.D., author of One Mind *“Mark is a soulful, intelligent man who brings higher thinking to mediumship and shares with us his own thought-provoking stories in his book. As a father who has suffered the loss of his own son, he truly understands the importance of reconnection between the living and those who live again.” * Allison Dubois, inspiration for the NBC TV series Medium and author of Talk to Me *“Not all books deliver what their titles promise. This one certainly does that and much more. The messages are there and very impressive as is the author’s balance between spiritual seeking and a strictly scientific approach. Fascinating reading.” * Guy Lyon Playfair, journalist and author of If This Be Magic and Twin Telepathy *“What a gift this book is for those who need to trust what they know in their hearts—death is not the end. Inner Traditions Bear and Company Shilajit: The Ayurvedic Adaptogen for Anti-aging
Book SynopsisKnown as the “black gold of the Himalayas,” Shilajit, or mumijo, is a brownish-black substance found in the mountains of central Asia with a peculiar, smoky-aromatic smell, reminiscent of the oils of various juniper plants. Taken internally in the form of capsules, tablets, or powder, Shilajit is a traditional Ayurvedic remedy with remarkable healing benefits that are only just beginning to be studied by Western doctors and scientists. In this full-colour practical guide, Wolfgang Windmann, Ph.D., explores Shilajit’s many physical and mental benefits, from stimulating the immune system and combating inflammation to protection from toxic stress and improving cognitive performance. He looks at Shilajit’s anti-aging benefits and the protection it can offer for a sensitive stomach and gut. He explores its history as a therapeutic treatment in different healing traditions throughout Asia, including its use in Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, and Russian folk medicine, and how it is now readily available around the world. Offering a scientific analysis of the compounds found in Shilajit, the author explains how it is formed and extracted and how it is composed of many cell-protecting, antioxidant, and vitalising substances, including many minerals and amino acids. He explores how Shilajit can be used for prevention and specific treatment, including for bone fractures, osteoporosis, stomach and gut diseases, mineral deficiencies, impotence, allergies, and dementia, as well as to improve mental focus and performance. Detailing how to use Shilajit for self-care and self-healing, this guide also looks at its different forms and dosages and how to combine it with other health supplements to enhance its extraordinary benefits for the immune system and for counteracting the harmful effects of modern lifestyles.Trade ReviewOffering a complete and throughly 'reader friendly' guide to Shilajit medicine, Shilajit: The Ayurvedic Adaptogen for Anti-aging and Immune Power is an impressively written, organized and presented reference that is especially and unreservedly recommended for personal, professional, community, college, and university library Alternative Medicine, Chinese Medicine, and Herbal Remedies collections and supplemental curriculum studies lists. Inner Traditions Bear and Company The Emotional Roots of Chronic Illness:
Book SynopsisHow to change the subconscious patterns underlying chronic conditions. In addition to working well for purely physical ailments, homeopathy offers remedies for engaging directly with the subconscious mind and ameliorating embedded, existential causes of chronic illness—called “miasms” in classical homeopathy. Presenting diagnostic insight, specific homeopathic remedies, and successful case study examples about the profound connections between emotions and their physical manifestations in illness, Jerry M. Kantor correlates the five classical miasms and their core existential quandaries with the Five Elements and Phase Theory of Chinese Medicine. He likens inborn foundational emotions to tools, each one designed to solve a stress-related problem. Self-sabotaging imbalances—energetic and physical—can occur when an emotional tool is excessively used, such as when a once-familiar stress is no longer present, or underused, as when a stressful input is inadequately managed. He explains how identifying a default emotional response—such as anxiety or anger—along with its accompanying physical symptoms can determine the core existential stress or heredity pattern underlying a chronic condition. For each of the five classical miasms and their associated physical and emotional conditions, the author presents homeopathic remedies that mollify the impact of specific existential quandaries and explains their indications through detailed examples from his practice. Revealing that the subconscious mind is amenable to change, Kantor shows how to accurately select remedies to defuse the energetic charge of unresolved existential stress and thus quell the root causes of chronic illness.Trade Review“Eye-opening and mind-expanding for homeopaths, practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and practitioners of existential psychology. For homeopaths, Kantor provides a new psychologically based typology system that relates to aspects of both TCM and existential psychology; it will no doubt expand their patient analysis capabilities. For practitioners of TCM and existential psychology, Kantor reveals the all-embracing and deeply symbolic nature of homeopathy, which is able to address not only emotional and mental problems but physical ones as well. This is truly a wide-ranging book that weaves many threads together.” * Amy L. Lansky, Ph.D., author of Impossible Cure: The Promise of Homeopathy *“Enlightening, erudite, engaging, and expressive. I like the local links between the five senses, the five Chinese phases, and the five main miasms. The remedy portraits are picturesque, with delicately descriptive themes, sublime application of astute language, all in a context of world literature, philology, and religion. Kantor’s use of language is masterful and highly engaging. I truly enjoyed reading it.” * Frans Vermeulen, author, lecturer, and authority on materia medica *“This remarkable synthesis of cutting-edge knowledge is rooted in ancient practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as in homeopathy’s futuristic, Western medical tradition. Five revelatory existential questions are introduced. Convincingly, each provides the subtext for health, epigenetics, and emergent chronic illness. Offering case histories, clinical pearls, Greek myth analysis, and much more, Kantor’s book is a stunning yet enjoyable read. Highly recommended.” * Dana Ullman, MPH, CCH, author of The Homeopathic Revolution *“This book by Jerry Kantor gives good insights in the reactions between medicine and psychology. It points to the source of disease as psychological. Added to that is its relationship with philosophy, which gives his work even further depth. It is a great book.” * Jan Scholten, M.D., author of Homeopathy and the Elements *“Jerry Kantor is a gifted and experienced homeopath who thinks deeply about homeopathy and its applications to living beings. He has written this wellthought- out, highly philosophical book that gets the reader to think about one’s existential reality and roots, to learn more about homeopathy, and see how both relate to Traditional Chinese Medicine. He makes some easy-tounderstand analogies using familiar movie and literary characters to make his points easier to understand. An incredibly intellectual and poignant read!” * Abby Beale, RSHom (NA), certified classical homeopath *“A tour de force of the philosophical and existential themes inherent in a homeopathic understanding of illness, Kantor provides a newly emerging synthesis of the relationship between miasmatic human conditions and the life-enhancing force of nature’s own substances encased within homeopathic remedies.” * Loretta Butehorn, Ph.D., certified classical homeopath and psychologist *“This well-researched synthesis of many classical healing systems with historical references focuses on homeopathy. The first section is an introduction to homeopathy and a very useful, in-depth description of the homeopathic healing process. The section of miasms and the Five Elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine is particularly interesting. Kantor delves into historical and medical insights that flesh out Hahnemann’s original theory of miasms.” * Jane Tara Cicchetti, author of Dreams, Symbols, and Homeopathy *“Kantor provides an insightful overview of five core existential dilemmas that life presents, positing that our responses to these quandaries become embodied in specific symptoms and syndromes of mind and body. His breathtaking perspective on the human condition will amply reward readers, from the lay public to professionals of any medical persuasion.” * David C. Kailin, MPH, Ph.D., author of Quality in Complementary & Alternative Medicine *“Kantor uses his exceptional mastery of wit, metaphor, and integrative healing resources to help us understand how unique emotional and physical symptoms emerge as guides to mend the manifestations of chronic illness.” * Kenneth Silvestri, Ed.D., certified homeopath and psychotherapist *“Are you familiar with the sufferings (or inner torments) of the mythical Greek god Sisyphus, Hamlet Prince of Denmark, Bartelby the Scrivener, and Phil Connors of the movie Groundhog Day? Jerry Kantor’s analysis of their existential plights and the remedy each needs is worth the price of admission.” * Anuradha Dayal-Gulati, Ph.D., author of Heal Your Ancestral Roots *“Insightful and thought-provoking. The first book to bring together existential philosophy, miasms, and homeopathic solutions! Gripping in content and lucid in style. We enjoyed reading the book and so will every reader!” * Dr. Bhawisha & Dr. Shachindra Joshi, M.D. (Hom), Mumbai, India *Table of ContentsForeword by Begabati Lennihan, RN, CCH Acknowledgments Preface Introduction PART ONEA Homeopathic FrameworkContextualizing the Law of Similars Psychic ExcavationOur Inborn Toolkit of Five Emotions PART TWO Five Existential Questions And Their Corresponding Miasms, Sense Dimensions, Phases, Emotions, and Organs 1 Am I alone in life or do I act in synchrony with nature and with others? Inner Traditions Bear and Company Sensory Processing Solutions: Drug-Free Therapies
Book SynopsisA guide to help you find the right therapy program for your child. Every person—whether baby, child, teenager, or adult—interacts with the world in their own unique way. Yet some have a harder time than others due to a variety of sensory processing issues, which can lead to motor delays, learning differences, frustration, anxiety, emotional, behavioural, and social challenges, as well as diagnoses like ADHD and “autism spectrum.” As sensory integration expert Sally Fryer Dietz reveals, these children are not “broken.” We are all unique, some just need more options and new ways to approach the world in order to make better sense of it. Speaking from both her decades of professional experience as well as her own journey to help her oldest son, Dietz shares in-depth guidance to help you find the right therapeutic support for your child. Detailing common red flags at each developmental stage from infancy to grade school, she explains how children with sensory processing “glitches” are often misunderstood and put on medication rather than in therapies that can help them succeed naturally. Sharing how difficult it was to hear from her son’s teachers that he was having more challenges in school than his peers, she presents success stories from her family and from her sensory integration therapy clinic. She outlines therapies and treatments for body and mind that can help improve your child’s sensory motor development and function, such as sensory integration-based occupational, physical, and CranioSacral therapy. No matter where your child is on the spectrum of sensory motor integration, this guide showcases effective solutions beyond medication and can help you figure out what options are available to help children grow into happy and productive adults.Trade Review“Addresses sensory processing disorders in an interesting and easy-to-read format and provides sage advice and alternative solutions for both parents and professionals alike. A ‘must-read’ for anyone who has a child or cares for a child who is struggling with complex symptoms that have been given many diagnoses but no effective treatments.” * Susan Istre, PH.D., LPC-S, director of the Center for Social Success *“The sensory solutions outlined throughout the work of Sally Fryer Dietz truly make a difference! My husband and I have seen firsthand the impact her therapies have had on our 6-year-old son and would recommend these treatment modalities with our highest esteem to ANY and ALL parents. Easy-to-understand practical solutions are what you can expect with Sally Fryer Dietz, along with seeing growth in every measurable way possible!” * Elizabeth Wade Craft, LPC-A, CSC, licensed professional counselor associate and certified school cou *“Sally Fryer Dietz is a proven, beloved, integral healer for these disruptive times, working for y(our) precious children developing in y(our) super-mechanized culture—on behalf of growing human well-being in our transforming commonwealth. Sally’s integrative approach in working with children—combining sensory integration, craniosacral, and other therapies—is the magic bullet parents are looking for to help their children go beyond the limitations imposed by sensory processing disorders and other developmental glitches. My family and I have all benefited tremendously from the gift of Sally Fryer Dietz being in our lives.” * Woody Buckner, global leadership artist, scientist, public policy leader, and CEO of Buckner & Compa *“As a pediatric nurse practitioner of 26 years, I often refer patients to hospitals and therapy facilities that offer alternatives for treatment of patient issues. It’s great to have a facility such as Sally Fryer Dietz’s Integrative Pediatric Therapy (IPT) that offers developmental, craniosacral, and occupational therapy. In particular I saw remarkable improvements in my grandson’s speech and physical development from visits to the IPT facility.” * Kim Erickson, MS, APRN, CPNP, pediatric nurse practitioner and president of Pediatrics After Hours *Table of ContentsPreface to the New EditionIntroduction: Alex 1 When Something’s Not Quite Right with Your Child 2 Making Sense of Your Child’s Senses 3 Your Child’s Sensory Motor Development 4 How to Be Your Child’s Advocate 5 Therapies to Help Build Better Bodies, Minds, and Lives 6 What Comes Next? 7 Alex Out in the World Afterword Questions Parents Often Ask Glossary Acknowledgments Index About the Author

Inner Traditions Bear and Company Body Mandala: Posture, Perception, and Presence
Book SynopsisAn experiential guide to using your body as the focus of contemplative practice. Our physical structure, often known simply as “posture,” is shaped by the balance of tension between our bones and soft tissues—fasciae, tendons, muscles, and ligaments—as well as by the mental, emotional, and physical stresses we experience. This tensional integrity, or “tensegrity,” along with our sensory experiences, movements, and physical expressions all offer access points for developing fully embodied presence—that is, for engaging the body’s capacity for perception, expanded awareness, and even spiritual presence. Exploring the profound connections between tensegrity and inner perceptions and awareness, Mary Bond teaches you to unlock your body’s inner guidance—its somatic wisdom—through a journey of embodiment that will improve your posture in the process. Integrating movement theory, philosophy, neuroscience, fascia research, polyvagal theory, and personal story, Bond reveals how the human body organizes and expresses movement through perception. She looks in depth at the role of the fascial system in transmitting bodily perception, showing how fascia functions as the preeminent organ of embodiment and mind-body connection. She explains the process of internal perception, or “interoception,” the body-mind’s ability to identify, access, understand, and respond appropriately to its internal signals. Offering an experiential understanding of the structural foundation of the human body in motion and in stillness, Bond presents more than 50 self-explorations that allow you to transform your sensory experience, expand your awareness, and make embodiment—your own complex body—the focus of contemplative practice. The author also includes streaming audio and video links for each practice. Inviting you to awaken to the grace and wisdom of your body as a personal mandala that is always available for meditative focus, the author shows how conscious embodiment can help us become more perceptive and more humane beings.Trade Review“This is an absolute delight to read and even more to practice. A true masterpiece from someone who teaches us how to play with our posture from an embodiment perspective. Every page is an invitation to increase our loving attention toward the way we move in everyday life. Looking around me, as well as inside, it is hard to see anybody who would not profit tremendously from that investment.” * Robert Schleip, Ph.D., director of the Fascia Research Group, Division of Neurophysiology, Ulm Unive *“Mary has the impressive ability to write clearly and succinctly while also drawing the reader to connect inside themselves using bodily sensing exercises, metaphor, and story. I was inspired to engage in each of the somatic exercises as I read through the chapters of Body Mandala; as I did so, I was reminded of how easy it is to ignore certain areas of the body and certain kinds of aches and imbalances. Mary’s somatic practices are simple yet take one to a deep place of inner attention. Engaging in the exercises, I was also reminded of the importance of taking the time to deeply perceive and lovingly care for this precious body. The practices in this book have profound implications for awareness and health.” * Cynthia Price, Ph.D., LMT, research professor in the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing at the Univ *“Mary Bond’s work is a light of clarity in the field of movement and embodiment. In Body Mandala she shares with the reader and practitioner an invitation to explore one’s knowing and being. Mary Bond is a living presence who has weaved her own experience, teaching, and knowledge into an exquisite work of art in embodiment. As such, her book is required curriculum in our Structural Integration program at the University of New Mexico–Taos. It is the foundational approach we use in our movement and embodiment training. Her book is an inspiration for the first-time layperson wanting to begin a practice in embodiment and teaches those with more experience in the field how to teach embodiment. She brings clear examples of fascial anatomy, creating ground and support through one’s system and open curiosity to explore oneself in living presence.” * Kirstie Segarra, Ph.D., somatic medicine practitioner and doctor of integrative medicine *“Depth. Clarity. Simplicity. These three words describe the magic of this book, which uncovers secrets of a life in which incarnation can become joyous. With a maturity that is rare in the study of gesture and in writing, Mary Bond makes it possible to take a path, which she maps out so well, to a movement practice that can beautify our lives.” * Hubert Godard, Ph.D., Rolf Movement practitioner and certified Rolfer *“When artisans distill their lived experience into form, an unmistakable resonance happens. Whether the medium is the written word, a practice, a painting, really any act of creation, their lived experience sounds a gong within us. It evokes a quickening of sorts, an impulse to be more deeply embodied. Mary Bond is that sort of artisan: she has spent more than seven decades in a love affair with the lived experience of being in a body. We can feel and taste this extraordinary love infused in every word, idea, and practice in her book.” * Bo Forbes, Psy.D., author of Yoga for Emotional Balance *“I view this book as a true investment in the journey to whole body health, an investment in body, mind, and future. The whole body concept introduces the new scientific foundation with related anatomy concepts and function in easy-to-digest language and order. Illustrations and video guide you into the related embodied movement skills. I gladly recommend Mary’s enlightening body of work for the movement professional and anyone in pursuit of a better body. A must-do book to always have by my side.” * Marie-José Blom-Lawrence, Pilates master teacher, movement educator, and international presente *“Mary Bond has, once again, succeeded in showing us new ways to understand and practice healthy movement, this time including additional connections to our thoughts and psyche. Body Mandala stimulates my curiosity and gets me excited to apply the practices to my own work as a choreographer and dance educator.” * Ruth Barnes, choreographer, dancer, and professor and dance program coordinator at Missouri State Un *“Body Mandala acts not only as a beautiful field guide to your body as a continuous whole, but also contains the kind of guided movement and awareness explorations that only a true master can articulate. In short, Mary Bond has written a book that is not only a cognitive game changer regarding how we understand our bodies but is also a somatic and experiential guide to coming deeply home to your own body.” * Brooke Thomas, somatic educator *Table of ContentsForeword by Thomas MyersPreface Introduction: What Is a Body Mandala? Booklocker.com Unraveling
Book SynopsisThe book Unraveling contains poems that show how women’s lives evolve and take shape over the years through lived experiences, be they pleasant or unpleasant. Some women may fall apart during a crisis and need to find the inner strength that will help them become whole and strong. It is a painful process that requires patience and persistence, however, in the end they will understand and accept that life is not perfect and is always changing.Basic to the ability of becoming a strong woman who faces life with determination is the establishment and affirmation of who we are. How do we describe ourselves? Some women tend to undervalue themselves because they don’t fit the stereotypical concept of women. We need to look inwards and value our character strengths and how these contribute to our own well-being and that of our loved ones.Another aspect of life as a woman that my poems address is that of love of a man. We decide to enter into a relationship and sometimes it will be right, but other times it turns out terrible. What will we do? Will we stay in a toxic relationship hoping it will get better, or will we decide to save ourselves? Again, we need to make a choice and be willing to face the consequences.Death is a topic I address in my poems. It is not a pleasant topic, but it is part of life. Perhaps your spiritual upbringing will help you face the departure of a loved one, nevertheless, it still is a difficult life passage that we need to walk and accept. The good thing about life as we approach the end is that we can reminisce and relish the many happy moments we lived and shared.Poetry is a magnificent tool that helps us dig deep within and bring forth life events that need to be looked at from where we are today, a different place, perhaps wiser and less painful. To be able to express those thoughts we have kept hidden is liberating, it is a cathartic experience. Many of my poems come from that deep place within; others are reflections of the lives around me.

So this book could not be better timed, and given Sally’s lifetime experience of organic gardening, it’s bound to inspire all those who want to ‘grow back better’."—Helen Browning, chief executive, Soil Association"If you want to grow your own food while helping nature to thrive, this fascinating book is for you. I learnt a lot."—Alex Mitchell, author of Crops in Tight Spots"An invaluable addition to the gardening literature, Sally Morgan’s new book does a superb job of presenting a holistic, ecological approach to soil health as well as pest and disease management. Whereas many books may simply say, ‘Use X product to fight X issue’, Morgan describes in thorough detail what the gardener can do – from building habitats to improving soil conditions – to ensure that issue never has a chance to take hold. You will turn to this book time and again as a smart, non-dogmatic guide to producing consistently healthy crops and, in effect, a healthier environment."—Jesse Frost, author of The Living Soil Handbook"There are so many reasons to grow a healthy food garden, and expert gardener Sally Morgan shows you how. In this comprehensive guide, you will dig deep into the world of soil, natural pest control and companion plants, along with a range of options for your natural landscape. This clearly written book sets up a strong foundation for new gardeners while also offering advice for those with more experience, who seek tools for building and maintaining a healthy food garden from start to finish."—Ellen Ecker Ogden, author of The New Heirloom Garden"In The Healthy Vegetable Garden, Sally Morgan shares a wealth of information about growing healthy soil as the foundation for exceptional gardens which produce nutritional food with minimal pests. Her simple informative style empowers the reader to put these concepts into grounded action. She has created a fantastic resource for the success of the next generation gardeners."—Katrina Blair, author of The Wild Wisdom of Weeds"One thing I found refreshing about Sally Morgan’s book is that she doesn’t trade in the myth of the ‘perfectly balanced organic soil’ which, of course, is not to be found in this imperfect, constantly evolving world. She doesn’t aspire to a weed-free or pest-free garden, but rather one where problems are kept manageable without resorting to extreme or disruptive remedies. She cites a slew of strategies one might use to correct course: biocontrols, barriers repellents, and so on. However, she keeps returning to the basic premise that by fostering a diverse and resilient habitat, the soil and garden ecosystem can do a great deal to regenerate and maintain itself, making external fixes unnecessary."—Will Bonsall, author of Will Bonsall’s Essential Guide to Radical, Self-Reliant Gardening"There are few gardeners (or farmers) I know who wouldn’t benefit from reading Sally Morgan’s new book, The Healthy Vegetable Garden. For the novice grower, the book is a great introduction to the principles and methods of ecological gardening. And for the veteran grower, there is sure to be plenty of new information, including incredibly detailed sections on pest and disease control. . . .[This is] a detailed and indispensable resource."—Hobby Farms

Chelsea Green Publishing Co The Virus and the Host: Protect Yourself from
Book SynopsisLearn how to take control of your health – and decrease susceptibility to infectious viral disease before it strikes. In The Virus and the Host, naturopathic doctor Chris Chlebowski, teaches readers how to take control of their health – and decrease susceptibility to infectious viral disease, such as COVID-19, before it strikes. The book demonstrates how robust health, good immunity, low inflammation, low toxic burden and freedom from stealth infection and chronic disease is our best defence against infectious viral disease. Dr. Chlebowski contends we need to take better care of our health before disaster strikes: improving our diets, losing weight, exercising and managing stress. The way our bodies interact with infectious disease is complicated – both a function of the “germ” (virus) and the “terrain” (host). In Part 1 of The Virus and the Host, Dr. Chlebowski describes emerging science on the virome as well as how toxic exposure, chronic inflammation, stealth infections and chronic diseases interact and predispose us to poor outcomes from acute viral infection. As we move forward from the tragedy that was COVID-19, it is essential that we come together to learn from our mistakes and work hard – and work together – to prevent a similar crisis, or worse, in the future. It is likely we will see more pandemics in the next decade. When we do, we need to be better prepared. Now is the time to do something and it is the best investment we can make so that when – not if – the next “big one” hits we can keep our loved ones and ourselves safe and healthy.Trade Review“The Virus and the Host is a practical and empowering guide to developing resilience against viral infections like COVID-19. By giving readers simple ways to improve nutrition, reduce inflammation, tackle toxicity, and even harness the power of botanical medicine, Dr. Chlebowski steps in to the do the job that our public health officials have not: educating the public that, while we can’t always avoid viral infection, we have immense power to improve our outcomes from it. Dr. Chlebowski is a sympathetic and supportive guide whose main goal is to help his patients—and his readers—live vibrant, healthy, and fulfilling lives. A must-read.” —Dr. Mark Hyman, MD, New York Times best-selling author of The Pegan Diet, Food Fix, and Eat Fat, Get Thin“The Virus and the Host shows us that we cannot understand how viruses affect the human body without also looking at the terrain they inhabit. Dr. Chris Chlebowski unlocks the key to survival in a world full of microorganisms—in a way that keeps our bodies, local ecosystems, and the larger world, in a healthy balance. I highly recommend The Virus and the Host. It is one of the most important books of our time.” —Dr. Henning Saupe, author of Holistic Cancer Medicine“Dr. Chlebowski has written a gem of a book at a timely moment in history. He coins the term ‘Biological Equilibrium Theory,’ blending the germ and terrain theories of disease into a unified whole. The book has a wealth of specific information on herbal remedies, detox programs, healthy food choices, and much more—a how-to manual on staying well in a toxic world.” —Dr. Stephanie Seneff, senior research scientist, MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory; author of Toxic Legacy“Dr. Chris Chlebowski’s perspective on mitigating body burden and supporting innate immunity is the most balanced and sensible I’ve seen. A compelling historical account as well as an unapologetic challenge to redesign our future via the science of epigenetics, The Virus and the Host is the obvious path forward, whether you’re looking to prepare for the next outbreak of disease or prevent autoimmunity.” —Jill McLaughlin Grunewald, Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, autoimmunity specialist, and best-selling author of The Essential Thyroid Cookbook“A valuable read, full of practical information about how to stay healthy in the age of pandemics.” —Jennifer Margulis, award-winning science journalist, and coauthor of The Vaccine-Friendly Plan“In The Virus and the Host, Dr. Chlebowski has distilled his in-depth research into a compelling read about how to treat a virus, where our healthcare system has gone wrong, and how it can be improved upon. This book left me feeling optimistic and empowered, and gave me greater knowledge about the history of viruses, as well as their future.” —Erin Elizabeth, author; public speaker; founder, Health Nut News“Dr. Chris breaks down complex topics into clear, usable, and helpful information. He not only discusses viruses but also how to avoid the other ‘big ones’—cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. This book is for anyone who wants to know how to truly get well and stay that way.” —Kelly Moeggenborg, a.k.a. Kelly the Kitchen Kop, author of Real Food for Rookies“In The Virus and the Host, Dr. Chris Chlebowski lays out how typical modern ways of living are making and keeping us sick. He pulls back the curtain to shed light on how so much is in our control to address and reverse both chronic and acute illness. With clarity and spirit, he guides readers with actionable steps for reaching our best and most vibrant health.” —Dr. Amy Rothenberg, author of You Finished Treatment, Now What?

Let the healing begin!” —Dr. Wafaa Abdel-Hadi, clinical oncologist; founder, AWARE clinic“The integrative oncology community is a small and diverse mix of practitioners from all over the globe. Though we may differ on philosophy and approach, we align at the core: that there is much more to be done to support the patient dealing with a cancerous process than the standard of care alone can offer. I have traveled the world to observe and study with many practitioners—from standard-of-care, state-of-the-art hospitals to shamans in remote villages—and I always learn something new! No one person has all the answers. Just as there are unique fingerprints, there are unique perspectives and approaches to tend to the terrain of the individual. Having had the honor of visiting Dr. Saupe’s beautiful clinic, spending time with his patients, and presenting together at some international conferences, it is clear we resonate deeply in how we think about and care for the patient. Dr. Saupe’s personal and professional experience offer insights to invoke the curiosity and commitment of the patient into taking a more comprehensive look and approach to their cancer care process.” —Dr. Nasha Winters, founder and CEO, drnasha.com; coauthor of The Metabolic Approach to Cancer and Mistletoe and the Emerging Future of Integrative Oncology“Holistic Cancer Medicine is a fascinating and important book written by a highly knowledgeable doctor. Shambhala Publications Inc By Your Side
Book SynopsisA fascinating exploration of the ?assisting force? archetype, with powerful psychological tools and spiritual insights on how to find and work with these forces in your life?from the bestselling author of How To Be An Adult in Relationships.Psychotherapist David Richo draws from history, Jungian psychology, Buddhism, nature, and other spiritual traditions to illuminate our connection to the ?helpers? we call upon to navigate life. Some of the assisting forces in our lives are visible, and some are invisible. Some are with us for life; some come and go. Spiritual assisting forces could be bodhisattvas and saints?or partners in a relationship who are allies to one another.Richo says that helpers are a necessary character on our human journey, and that in every heroic journey story the hero or heroine requires a trustworthy companion to fulfill his/her/their destiny. The assisting force can take many forms, but is often depicted as a sidekick, an aide, a wise advisor, or a spirit guide. In stories, an assisting force can also be an elixir, a magic form of help, an animal, or a wish-fulfilling gem. In this fascinating inquiry, Richo posits that the archetype of the ally is necessary if we are ever to be fully who we are. He shows us how assisting forces are in and around us, and how we can be one to others. Richo offers a compelling and accessible view?and time-tested practices including meditation, self-inquiry, journaling, and affirmations?that help us recognize and access the allies in our lives.

Shambhala Publications Inc From SelfCare to WeCare
Book SynopsisLearn to balance and blend self-care and care for others through we-care, a science-backed compassion training that enhances personal and social well-being, promotes healthy boundaries, and offers a path of healing and growth.Helping professionals and empaths commonly find themselves burning out, overextended in their care for others. Yet few people feel there?s too much compassion in our society, and an overly strong focus on self-care can lead to unskillfulness when faced with interpersonal challenges and a lack of responsiveness to systemic social issues. The emerging science and practice of we-care embraces and transcends the principles of self-care in order to emphasize the inherently social nature of care. From this perspective, care is not a zero-sum game that will inevitably lead to self-indulgence for some and burnout for others, but rather an inherently social force that drives mutually beneficial outcomes. Yet we-care is more than a concept?it is a practical framework and set of tools to offer a more expansive view of care. Compassion researcher and teacher Jordan Quaglia guides you through questions such as, ?Do you ever feel the urge to take away other people?s pain and discomfort, no matter the potential personal costs?? and ?Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the pain and suffering of the world or by specific challenging situations?? to discover your care tendencies, explore their strengths and weaknesses, and find a more balanced way to express your innate sense of compassion for yourself, others, and the world. As you''re exposed to cutting-edge scientific research, practical insights, and personal stories, you?ll discover your own unique balance of self-care and care for others across diverse situations.
