Springer A Guide to Protein Isolation
Book SynopsisIt is a truism of science that the more fundamental the subject, the more universally applicable it is. Nevertheless, it is important to strike a level of “fundamentalness” appropriate to the task in hand. For -depth study of the mechanics of motor cars would tell one example, an in nothing about the dynamics of traffic. Traffic exists on a different “level” - it is dependent upon the existence of motor vehicles but the physics and mathematics of traffic can be adequately addressed by considering motor vehicles as mobile “blobs”,with no consideration of how they become mobile. To start a discourse on traffic with a consideration of the mechanics of motor vehicles would thus be inappropropriate. In writing this volume, I have wrestled with the question of the appropriate level at which to address the physics underlying many of the techniques used in protein isolation. I have tried to strike a level as would be used by a mechanic (with perhaps a slight leaning towards an engineer) - i.e. a practical level, offering appropriate insight but with minimal mathematics. Some people involved in biochemical research have a minimal grounding in chemistry and physics and so I have tried to keep it as simple as possible.Table of ContentsAcknowledgements. Preface. 1. An overview of protein isolation. 2. Assay, extraction and sub-cellular fractionation. 3. Concentration of the extract. 4. Chromatography. 5. Electrophoresis. 6. Immunological methods. Index.

Springer Verlag, Singapore Drug Delivery to Tumors: Recent Strategies and Techniques
Book SynopsisThis book summarizes emerging drug delivery strategies and new technologies for cancer treatment from the perspective of cancer pathology, including immunotherapy strategies, biomimetic drug delivery strategies, live cell drug delivery strategies, nanocrystal technology and 3D Printing technology, etc. With the development of related fields such as pharmaceutical science, materials science and nanomedicine, drug delivery systems have made significant progress in the treatment of cancer. With the in-depth study of different types of drug delivery systems, clinical transformation will be necessary. Some clinical trials have proved the obvious advantages of drug delivery vehicles in anti-cancer treatment. However, the characterization of nanomaterials, safety issues and production issues limit the application. Importantly, accurate in vitro and in vivo models are needed to predict the therapeutic effect of drug delivery systems in the clinic. The drug delivery system has been continuously innovated and improved in cancer treatment, and has broad application prospects.Table of ContentsCancer pathology.- Development and advantages of drug delivery systems.- Drug delivery strategies targeting tumor.- Immunotherapy nanocarrier.- Combined therapy.- Prodrug Nanocarrier.- Smart drug delivery vehicle.- Cell-derived / bionic drug delivery vehicle.- Cellular drug delivery vehicle.- Nanocrystal technology.- Drug delivery technology 3D printing.- Microneedle-based transdermal drug delivery technology.
