PCCS Books The Art of Bohart: Person-centred therapy and the
Book SynopsisArt Bohart is one of today’s foremost theorists and practitioners of person-centred therapy. His work has influenced generations of person-centred students and practitioners, both here in the UK and in the USA, his home country. This book brings together his personal pick from the many papers he has delivered at conferences in Europe and the USA, previously unpublished. They are, as he says in his introduction, packed with ideas that have only now found their way into print. Here, he shares his thoughts on topics including wisdom in psychotherapy, the role of empathic listening, therapy as a meeting of persons, why interventionism isn’t therapeutic, how to practise integratively from a person-centred point of view, therapist mindsets and assimilative integration, subjectivity in psychotherapy and psychology, client courage, hope, what isn’t wrong with avoidance, and the nature of the self and change. These are all issues with which person-centred therapists grapple daily, distilled by a master of his art and presented here as powerful lessons for us all.Trade Review'Art represents contemporary person-centred therapy at its best: provocative and passionate yet also open-minded, down-to-earth and full of compassion and common sense. PCCS Books The Pluralistic Therapy Primer: A concise
Book SynopsisPluralistic therapy offers an open, inquiring, flexible framework for client-centred practice. It was introduced in response to the schoolism that emerged from the growing numbers of competing schools and models of therapy in the early years of the 21st century. Built on the principles of pluralism, it promotes partnership and equality between client and practitioner, client-defined goals, and a willingness and flexibility in the therapist to adapt their ways of working and draw on a range of models and approaches to best suit the client's needs and preferences. It values difference and promotes inclusivity and dialogue within the field. In this long-awaited book, Kate Smith and Ani de la Prida summarise the principles, underpinning philosophy and key features of the approach. They also consider the emerging research into pluralistic therapy and what it can look like in practice.Trade Review'This book celebrates the creativity and resourcefulness of clients and therapists and explains how they can draw on their combined knowledge and life experience to address problems in living. The authors combine and philosophical and research-based sources, along with practical guidelines and a wealth of case examples, in a consistently readable and engaging manner. It is a book that is clear, profound and highly recommended.'–John McLeod, Emeritus Professor of Counselling, Abertay University, and Visiting Professor, Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, Dublin. 'Kate Smith and Ani de la Prida have provided us with an essential tool for those interested in learning about how to apply a pluralistic perspective to their counselling and helping practice. They provide a rich narrative and a range of accessible chapters, offering ways of weaving pluralistic thinking and practice skills into day-to-day counselling work. Their concept of a task taxonomy is a great way to convey central elements of working pluralistically, providing a novel tool for reviewing practice in training, supervision, and research. In a nutshell, their primer prepares practitioners for pluralistic practice. It will be essential reading for the rapidly growing international group of practitioners interested in developing a pluralistic perspective on practice.'– Lynne Gabriel, Professor of Counselling and Mental Health, York St John University.Table of ContentsIntroduction to the series, Preface - Mick Cooper, 1. Free Association Books Holding Time: Human Need and Relationships in
Book SynopsisInformed by the author's work in dementia care and palliative care as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, Holding Time contributes to an increasing recognition of the importance and value of relationship-centred care in this field. Most of the book is written ethnographically and unfolds as a narrative. It also includes the real words of staff and residents from the care homes in which she conducted observations. Holding Time explores how the relational investment in care is vital alongside a technical one. The book does this by detailing the micro-interactions of everyday care and concern and play before moving out on to a wider, organisational and macro stage. It addresses our fears about dependency on a societal level, and attempts to challenge the foregrounding of the independent, rational individual over all other experiences. The author's contribution is particular to the UK dementia care home setting, and offers a predominantly psychoanalytic take. It is a contemporary exploration of the dementia care field, and contributes to the general movement to improve care of those living (and working) with dementia.

Free Association Books The Dreamer's Odyssey: A Guide to the Creative
Book SynopsisDreams have always been important to humanity, but in modern times we have lost the ability to understand what our dreams are telling us. In The Dreamer’s Odyssey, the author provides a step-by-step guide to help the individual interpret and work through their own dreams. It can also be used by counsellors and other professionals to give them an understanding of the basis of Jung’s dream analysis. The 10 week guide has been adapted from the courses that the author, Jacquie Flecknoe-Brown, has run successfully for many years. Closely linked to the theory of C. G. Jung, each chapter includes an interpreted dream relevant to the weekly content. It also includes analysis of dream-theory, and interpretation of mythical material to illustrate theoretical points. Working with dreams and their images helps us to be more conscious of ourselves, our shadows, our opposites, and our purpose. Dreams can ease our burdens, help us problem-solve, improve our memories, and enlighten us. The dream is a natural, and living phenomenon – working to understand our dreams will have an effect on many aspects of our lives.

Karnac Books Unlocked: Online Therapy Stories
Book SynopsisAll therapeutic work described in this book happens online. The pandemic forced therapists to move to remote work but Anastasia Piatakhina Giré had already been working with her clients in this way for a decade. Her stories show how a curious and skilled online therapist can make the most of the unexpected gifts that screen' therapy offers be it the intrusion of a pet, a parent breaking into the session, or a client taking her therapist for a trip outside. Rather than being somehow less', taking therapeutic conversations out of a physical therapy room breathes a new energy and new possibilities into the therapeutic process. These conversations happening through the screen have a surprising close-up quality and foster a different kind of intimacy and intensity. Giré's years of experience reveal the positives of digital practice, including how it enables multilingual, cross-cultural therapy, and will inspire others who work in this way or are considering a move to online therapy. Her accessible storytelling has a broad appeal to those working in psychotherapy and to the general reader curious about human psychology, diversity, and contemporary psychotherapy.

Springer Nature Switzerland AG Stepped Care 2.0: A Paradigm Shift in Mental
Book SynopsisThis book is a primer on Stepped Care 2.0. It is the first book in a series of three. This primer addresses the increased demand for mental health care by supporting stakeholders (help-seekers, providers, and policy-makers) to collaborate in enhancing care outcomes through work that is both more meaningful and sustainable. Our current mental health system is organized to offer highly intensive psychiatric and psychological care. While undoubtedly effective, demand far exceeds the supply for such specialized programming. Many people seeking to improve their mental health do not need psychiatric medication or sophisticated psychotherapy. A typical help seeker needs basic support. For knee pain, a nurse or physician might first recommend icing and resting the knee, working to achieve a healthy weight, and introducing low impact exercise before considering specialist care. Unfortunately, there is no parallel continuum of care for mental health and wellness. As a result, a person seeking the most basic support must line up and wait for the specialist along with those who may have very severe and/or complex needs. Why are there no lower intensity options? One reason is fear and stigma. A thorough assessment by a specialist is considered best practice. After all, what if we miss signs of suicide or potential harm to others? A reasonable question on the surface; however, the premise is flawed. First, the risk of suicide, or threat to others, for those already seeking care, is low. Second, our technical capacity to predict on these threats is virtually nil. Finally, assessment in our current culture of fear tends to focus more on the identification of deficits (as opposed to functional capacities), leading to over-prescription of expensive remedies and lost opportunities for autonomy and self-management. Despite little evidence linking assessment to treatment outcomes, and no evidence supporting our capacity to detect risk for harm, we persist with lengthy intake assessments and automatic specialist referrals that delay care. Before providers and policy makers can feel comfortable letting go of risk assessment, however, they need to understand the forces underlying the risk paradigm that dominates our society and restricts creative solutions for supporting those in need.Table of Contents1. Introduction: We Need a Better System (Identifies the problem: the risk paradigm; and outlines the solution: SC2.0) 2. Wellness Now (Strategies for developing walk-in consults for all, regardless of level of distress) 3. Values and Principles of a Vibrant Wellness System (i.e., ethics and recovery principles needed to make care more client centric and sustainable) 4. Expanding the Options (description of the 9-steps) 5. Co-Design and Continuous Quality Improvement (client and provider-facing tracking of outcomes including functioning, growth, symptoms, engagement, readiness) 6. Navigating the System (principle of failing forward through trial and error approaches and continuous wellness monitoring)7. Developing Partnerships (collaboration - three levels: i) with clients; ii) other wellness providers; iii) inter-cultural)8. Adapting for Unique Settings (introduction to variations on the model from and for different contexts) 9. Conclusion: Towards a Paradigm Shift (sets the stage for the two more comprehensive edited volumes which illustrate through multiple perspectives how the model is being, conceptualized, applied and implemented).

Springer Nature Switzerland AG Relational Processes in Counselling and
Book SynopsisThis book is focused on relational processes in supervision for counselling and psychotherapy. The aim is first to introduce a relational theoretical stance, then to apply that stance to the process of supervision, and finally to offer practitioners immediately accessible resources for relational supervision. Within a relational perspective, supervisor and supervisees are viewed as partners who co-construct the supervisory process. Unlike other approaches to supervision where the emphasis is on specific techniques and strategies for supervision, the relational orientation of this book invites supervisor and supervisee into different understandings of the supervisory interaction. This orientation directs our attention to the importance of co-creating the therapeutic relation/alliance with special attention to the wellbeing of the the supervisee and the supervisor. Supervision, from this perspective, is focused on what participants are making together rather than on the individual abilities, strengths, and weaknesses of either the supervisor or the supervisee.Table of Contents1. Springer Nature Switzerland AG Storytelling and Collective Psychology: Ancient
Book SynopsisThis book examines the work of psychological illusionist Derren Brown to understand the significance of storytelling and ancient philosophy in our society. Reflecting on the social disconnection and political polarisation of recent times, Darren Kelsey considers how we can rebuild a sense of collective cohesion and common good, weaving together contemporary psychology with ancient Stoicism to cut through the noise of modern life. Kelsey shows that Brown is more than a stage performer: he’s an enlightened magician who offers us guidance for navigating the challenges life throws at us, using his skills and wisdom to help us better understand ourselves and enable human flourishing. In this rigorous examination of Brown’s work, Kelsey makes a compelling case for paying closer attention to our personal, cultural and political stories and beliefs to help create a better future – for ourselves, our communities, and the planet.Table of Contents1. Accordingly, the book presents a balanced mix of chapters summarizing the state of the art in the field from different viewpoints and covering innovative topics and perspectives, reflecting some of the most established traditions and, at the same time, emerging approaches in the field in several countries. The contributors, who were invited from among the experts in our national and international professional networks, also represent a healthy mix of leading figures and young researchers. The first part of the book addresses a number of fundamental issues in psychotherapy research at a historical, philosophical, and theoretical level. The second part of the book is concerned with research on psychotherapy processes; in this regard, both quantitative and qualitative approaches are given equal consideration in order to reflect the growing relevance of the latter. The book’s third and last part examines research on psychotherapy outcomes, primarily focusing on quantitative approaches. Offering a balanced mix of perspectives, approaches and topics, the book represents a valuable tool for anyone interested in psychotherapy research.Trade Review“This book focuses on psychotherapy research, in terms of both process and outcome. … The intended audience is researchers, clinicians, and undergraduate and graduate students. … This excellent book extensively covers the psychotherapy process and outcomes, supplying hundreds of references for follow-up.” (Gary B. New to This Edition *Incorporates a decade's worth of developments in MBCT clinical practice and training. *Trade Review"MBCT is a major achievement. Based on a coherent body of experimental work, the treatment has proven its worth in reducing the recurrence of depression and, as a consequence, changing the future prospects of numerous people whose lives are blighted by repeated episodes of this disabling condition. This second edition will be widely welcomed by practitioners; every chapter has been updated and numerous new practical aids have been added, including downloadable practice exercises and handouts. Thoroughly recommended."--David M. Clark, DPhil, Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford, United Kingdom "Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression is the gold standard for anyone who wants to learn this powerful approach. The second edition brings this classic up to date, making it the state-of-the-art guide for therapists and students alike."--Daniel Goleman, PhD, author of Emotional Intelligence "I love this book. More than a book, actually, it is a trusted friend. If you are dedicated to helping vulnerable people stay well and protect themselves from future episodes of depression, you will find what you need here. The program is grounded in rigorous clinical research, sound theory, and an unwavering conviction about the possibility of learning to live each moment fully and wisely. The core building blocks from the first edition remain--step-by-step descriptions of each session, including transcripts, handouts, and rich case illustrations--but there are countless new treasures as well. The themes of many of the sessions have been refined in ways that bring the curriculum even closer to the lived experience of people struggling with recurrent depression. This book stands as an exemplar of how to integrate clinical innovation, science, and practice."--Sona Dimidjian, PhD, Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, University of Colorado Boulder "What began as a thoughtful new approach to treating depression over a decade ago has since changed the face of cognitive therapy. In this truly outstanding second edition, the authors offer crystal-clear instructions for teaching the MBCT program. Important new chapters have been added on embodying compassion and practicing inquiry in the teaching process. The authors review the impressive research on MBCT and offer reflections on how it actually works. Clinicians of all theoretical orientations and levels of experience will discover insights and practical skills that can have a vital impact on how they practice psychotherapy."--Christopher Germer, PhD, private practice, Arlington, Massachusetts "Superb! The authors describe their evidence-based maintenance therapy for depression in great detail, while telling an engrossing (and well-referenced) story of how they developed their approach. Fascinating reading."--Ricardo F. Muñoz, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Clinical Psychology, Palo Alto University "A defining resource in the burgeoning arena of mindfulness-based therapies. The second edition incorporates new evidence from both clinical trials and neuroscientific studies of the mind, continuing the story of discovery of the mindfulness path out of chronic depression. Presented is up-to-date conceptual and clinical material that reflects the experience and wisdom of the authors, their colleagues, and the many individuals who have benefited from MBCT. As a graduate textbook for a course on either major depression or psychotherapeutic uses of meditation, this volume illustrates the theory and application of mindfulness-based approaches in an elegant and always readable manner."--Jean L. Kristeller, PhD, Department of Psychology, Indiana State University "Warmly written, accessible, and deeply insightful. This landmark book has played a key role in making mindfulness a central concern in clinical practice. The up-to-date second edition not only summarizes the extraordinary expansion of research evidence, but also is immensely practical and filled with clinical wisdom. Important, too, is its emphasis on compassion. A 'must' for all therapists interested in mindfulness."--Paul Gilbert, PhD, Centre for Compassion Research and Training, University of Derby, United Kingdom-Table of ContentsIntroductionI. Guilford Publications Emotional Schema Therapy
Book SynopsisThis book presents innovative tools for helping patients to understand their emotional schemas--such as the conviction that painful feelings are unbearable, shameful, or will last indefinitely--and develop new ways of accepting and coping with affective experience. Therapists can integrate emotional schema therapy into the treatment approaches they already use to add a vital new dimension to their work. Rich case material illustrates applications for a wide range of clinical problems; assessment guidelines and sample worksheets and forms further enhance the book's utility.Trade Review"This important book illuminates how an individual's theory of emotion, emotion-regulation strategies, and meta-emotions influence well-being and experience. The contribution Leahy makes could be quite profound, as his ideas and clinical experience bridge the areas of emotional intelligence, cognition, self-regulation, and the practice of psychological therapies. Clinicians working in all orientations will find this volume a source of invaluable ideas."--Adrian Wells, PhD, School of Psychological Sciences, University of Manchester, United Kingdom "Highly accessible and filled with illustrative clinical case examples, this book is a valuable resource for any modern psychotherapist. The volume provides practical guidance to target emotional schemas in therapy. It is a masterful contribution by one of the leading experts in CBT. Every clinician should be familiar with the techniques outlined in this excellent work."--Stefan G. Hofmann, PhD, Department of Psychology, Boston University "Leahy offers a version of cognitive therapy that richly embraces emotion and addresses it with nuance and respect. This is not your grandmother’s cognitive therapy. I learned much from this book and am confident that other readers from outside the cognitive therapy world will as well."--Paul L. Wachtel, PhD, Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership, The City College of New York, and Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology, The Graduate Center, The City University of New York "Although primarily focusing on thoughts and behaviors--as we are trained to do in CBT--is appropriate and effective for many clients, others present for treatment with problematic responses to their own and others' emotions. This wonderful book clearly outlines the role that emotion plays in psychological disorders and shows how to work with emotions throughout the course of therapy to help patients improve their relationships, learn how to make important decisions, and cope with life’s inevitable challenges. Helpful case examples, scripts, and assessment guidelines make the book even more user friendly. I am already using what I learned from this book in my daily work. That rarely happens!"--Deborah Roth Ledley, PhD, private practice, Plymouth Meeting and Narberth, Pennsylvania "This book extends the practice of cognitive therapy to include a most important and clinically relevant focus on the role of emotion in the change process. Drawing on empirical evidence and clinical experience, Leahy has captured a truly evidence-based approach to treatment. The book is unlike many others in presenting clinical guidelines that not only draw on different theoretical orientations, but also integrate research and practice. Vividly illustrated with clinical vignettes and transcripts, this volume offers insights for any and all therapists looking to increase their clinical effectiveness."--Marvin R. Goldfried, PhD, Distinguished Professor of Psychology, Stony Brook University "This straightforward book is highly informative and compelling. Leahy has a unique ability to convey the phenomena of the human condition. He suggests practical and useful techniques to help clients identify, validate, and respond effectively to their emotions. A particular strength is the focus on specific emotional contexts and experiences that clients typically bring to therapy. An essential text for teaching diverse groups of trainees about the importance of working with emotions in therapy and how best to do so."--Douglas S. Mennin, PhD, Department of Psychology, Hunter College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York -This book is quite novel and highly recommended for clinicians who are seeking to expand their clinical armamentarium to include greater facility with complex emotional experiences.--PsycCRITIQUES, 06/13/2016ƒƒEmotional Schema Therapy is an important book with implications for theory and practice that deserves a wide reading by cognitive-behavioral therapists as well as clinicians of other orientations….What is unique about Leahy's model is the detailed examination of patients' beliefs about their emotions and the use of a variety of techniques to modify those beliefs….One of the most important contributions of Leahy's model is the way he links patients' emotions with values and virtues….Leahy's work is integrative in the best sense of the word: wide ranging in its influences, explicit in acknowledging its commonalities and differences with other therapies, firmly grounded in cognitive-behavioral theory and empiricism, and yet ultimately original in its contributions….As I read this book I found myself repeatedly reflecting on some of my own challenging cases and thinking about how emotional schema therapy could sharpen my conceptualizations and provide new ways to intervene. I suspect this is a book that I will return to again and again. It is also my belief that therapists from all theoretical orientations, whether psychoanalytic, traditional cognitive-behavioral, third wave, or humanistic, will find much of value in this excellent book.--Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Book Reviews, 01/01/2016Table of ContentsI. Taylor & Francis Ltd Complex Trauma
Book SynopsisThe new diagnosis of Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder presents diagnostic and treatment challenges that need to be grappled with, since, in a troubled world, it is increasingly important to understand the impact and aftermath of traumatic experiences and, crucially, how to work with those affected by them.In Complex Trauma, Joanne Stubley and Linda Young have assembled a fascinating range of approaches in order to explore the questions of understanding and intervention. They detail the relevance of an applied psychoanalytic approach, both in the Tavistock Trauma Service and, more broadly, in illuminating understanding of traumatized individuals. The book includes chapters related to the impact of trauma on the body, as well as on the mind, incorporating neurobiological and attachment theory to develop ideas on the impact and aftermath of complex trauma. A number of specialist areas of trauma work are covered within this volume, including work with adolescents, with refugees and asylum seekers, with military veterans, and with survivors of child sexual abuse. The editors bring together chapters that will be of interest to those working with traumatized individuals in a variety of settings and using different modalities. The central importance of relationships, as understood within the psychoanalytic model, is depicted throughout as being at the heart of understanding and working with traumatic experience.Table of Contents1. Taylor & Francis EcoCentred Therapy
Book SynopsisOffering a much-needed update of Rogerian theory and practice, and based on insights from cultural studies and ecopsychology, this book breaks new ground by questioning the relevance of certain ways of thinking about counselling and psychotherapy not least in the current planetary emergency. In response to the growing need for therapists to address increasing anxieties about the climate crisis, Bernie Neville and Keith Tudor address the issue in terms that help therapists reflect on their practice. Based on the authorsâ previous publications and incorporating new material, this book presents and explores ideas that have been largely neglected in person-centred literature. It re-visions person-centred psychology (PCP) from what has become predominantly its application to individuals to a broader perspective on and about life and the living world. Further, it takes a philosophical and cultural perspective to re-present and re-vision PCP as a 'we' psychology, an eco-psychology, aTrade Review"The whakataukī/proverb "Ka titiro ki muri, ka haere ki mua – I walk backwards into the future with my eyes fixed on my past" instills in us the importance of remembering who we are. Carl Rogers’ original ideas have always been foundational to Keith’s discussion of person-centred psychology (PCP) throughout his career, and he has led the invitation to reimagine PCP with the hope of creating new pathways for practitioners. This book provides another disruption to our familiar and comfortable notions of PCP, and extends our considerations to include cosmological landscapes."Shirley Rivers (Ngāi Takoto, Ngāpuhi, Waikato), Head of Mission, Methodist Mission Northern, Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand."What a treat to have this book as a legacy to Bernie Neville's lived presence in this world: a fitting tribute to his life as an embodied being, sharing his unique contribution to our 'we-ness' and experiences of understanding and healing our relationships ecotherapeutically. Neville's co-author Keith Tudor has done a fabulous job of honouring their interweaving theories and ideas and bringing this book to fruition: a generous gift to our world. They provide a depth of understanding, an academic rigour and the radical hopefulness we need to understand our pain and anxiety and to find healing, active and growthful ways forward. Accompanied by the soundtrack of Archie Roach, poems, images and voices of colleagues and Neville's daughter, Alisoun, this book sets us free to imagine and re-vision what is possible. The book reflects my meetings with Bernie over the years at international gatherings: the embodied excitement of sharing life-changing ideas; the incredible depth of processing and reflection; the challenges of facing and accepting hopelessness and despair and the down to earth, every day practicalities of living as humans; and delighting in each other's company and the fact of being alive. This book has a lot to say about daring to live a meaningful life."Suzanne Keys, Person-centred practitioner and environmentalist, UK."This is a deeply moving book on multiple levels. Firstly, there is a profound sense of care and deep respect from Keith and associated secondary authors as they strive to articulate the final published words of Bernie. It is deeply moving in the way this is managed, knowing from the start that this book represents the culmination of Bernie’s lifetime of academic work, yet he was unable to see the project through to its end. Secondly, the book "moves deeply" through its subject matter. We are entering an age of growing awareness of the enormity of the challenge to our very existence from our "planetary emergency". This book offers not just a theoretical framework to grapple with our place in this, but also fosters a deep "hope", informed and grounded in Rogers’ person-centred approach. As such, this book will be of profound relevance to contemporary person-centred academics, students and practitioners, and indeed all of humanity, as like it or not we are all in this together."Dr Brian Rodgers, Senior Lecturer, Te Kura Tauwhiro Tangata | School of Counselling, Human Services & Social Work, Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand."This is an amazing book. It encompasses and connects us with somatic, psychological, anthropological, and interpersonal phenomena in the whole of nature. Specifically addressing the field of psychotherapy and therapists, the authors gently and firmly invite us to think about who and what we are, essentially. The book offers us a guide to discovering and confirming the universal relating principle(s) in universe, including ourselves, who are never the centre of this planet."Izumi Kadomoto, Professor, Department of Clinical Psychology, Taisho University, Japan."In this time of ecological crises, too much in our psychotherapeutic traditions appears feeble, unsuited to the problems of our age, or, worse, complicit in those very problems. In Eco-centred Therapy: Revisioning Person-Centred Psychology for a Living World, Bernie Neville and Keith Tudor dive deep into Carl Rogers’ thought and emerge with something novel and urgently needed: a vision of a psychotherapy for both person and planet. This book looks to the past, yet it is about our future."Dr Rhys Price-Robertson, gestalt therapist, researcher, and educator, Australia.Table of ContentsIntroduction Part 1: Ground 1. Sounds True Inc No Bad Parts: Healing Trauma and Restoring
Book SynopsisIs there some part of yourself that you wish would go away? Most of us would say yes, whether we call it addiction, the inner critic, “monkey mind,” neurosis, sinfulness, bad habits, or some other disparaging name. Yet what if there were a different way to approach these aspects of yourself that leads to true healing instead of constant inner struggle? With No Bad Parts, Dr. Richard Schwartz teaches a revolutionary paradigm of understanding and relating with ourselves - a method that brings us into inner harmony, enhances self-compassion, and opens the doors to spiritual awakening. Dr. Schwartz is the creator of Internal Family Systems (IFS), a paradigm-changing model of consciousness that has been transforming psychology for decades. Here, you’ll learn why IFS has been so effective in areas such as trauma recovery, addiction therapy, depression, and more. IFS overturns the idea that we have one “true” identity and recognizes that having multiple parts is not a pathology, but a normal and healthy function of the human mind. Shambhala Publications Inc Dancing in the Flames: The Dark Goddess in the
Book SynopsisDark, earthy, and immensely powerful, the Black Goddess has been a key force in world history, manifesting in images as diverse as the Indian goddess Kali and the Black Madonnas of medieval Europe. She embodies the energy of chaos and creativity, creation and destruction, death and rebirth. Images of Her, however, have been conspicuously missing in the Western world for centuries—until now, when awareness of the Goddess is re-arising in many spheres, from the women's movement to traditional religion, from the new discoveries of quantum physics to the dreams of ordinary men and women. Why now particularly? The answer provided by Marion Woodman and Elinor Dickson is bold and thrilling: the reemergence of the Divine Feminine in our time indicates our readiness to move to an entirely new level of consciousness. The reemerging Goddess calls for a shattering of rigid categories, a willingness to hold opposition. She calls us to marry reason and order to creativity, and to embrace the chaos that can ultimately lead to wisdom and transformation on personal and global levels.
