Reel Art Press David Hurn On Instagram
Book SynopsisMagnum''s David Hurn is one of Britain''s most influential documentary photographers. His work is characterised by a quiet observation and singular insight, his natural inclination towards ordinary people in their everyday lives. In 2016, Hurn casually started an Instagram account to allow him to share constructive photography advice: tips, books and recommendations. His stream developed to include reflections on photographs from his 60-year career; his ennui during the endless days of lockdown; the work of fellow photographers; and a grappling with questions of AI and artifice in photography. There are photographs here from the Hungarian revolution in 1956, on the set of The Beatles'' A Hard Day''s Night in 1964, trips to Arizona between 1979 and 2001, Halloween celebrations in his local Welsh village during the pandemic, and many more. A love of the land is also evident in much of his work. Printed in exquisite quality, the large book format does justice to Hurn''s photographs, while

Unicorn Publishing Group Dock Life Renewed: How London's Docks are
Book SynopsisForty years ago, London’s Docklands had become 6,000 acres of forgotten wasteland after over a century as the busiest port in the world. Now these once-derelict docks are again filled with ships and boats, forming homes and businesses for an extraordinary range of people. Whether millionaires visiting on their superyachts, country house executives needing a London base, young tech workers wanting a cheaper place to live, jobbing craftsmen keeping ancient marine trades alive or homeless people finding refuge, these are varied and dynamic communities. Highly acclaimed London photographer Niki Gorick focuses on St Katharine Docks, the Surrey Docks and the Isle of Dogs to illustrate the rich mix of personalities and activities in these converted commercial docks. They enjoy central London locations but as floating communities with their own nautical customs and rules, they are a world apart from their land-based neighbours. These images reveal the amazingly diverse modern-day life within these urban marinas.Trade Review"so beautiful that words will not do justice to the work ... Niki Gorick has a good eye for detail and can touch the soul of an area and its community through her photographs and text." London Society "Gorick has snapped some wonderful images" Londonist "Niki Gorick has a keen eye for fascinating subjects. The book is clearly a love affair with the people and waterborne activities around the area where she lives." London Historians

Unicorn Publishing Group Wild Neighbours: Portraits of London’s
Book SynopsisAS FEATURED ON BBC LONDON NEWS. Take four seasons, one photographer, eighty species, hundreds of miles on foot in a city of ten million people and through intimate and captivating portraits meet London's wild neighbours. London is not just a city of ten million people, it is also home to an extraordinary diversity of beautiful wildlife. With world population exploding and more and more countryside being lost to urban sprawl or commercial agriculture, the sharing of urban space with nature is more important than ever. To achieve this, we have to preserve and increase the green and blue spaces in our cities and see and love the wildlife that we already have. Since London is my city, I set out to observe and create photographic portraits of all the creatures I could find. Whilst this has taken many hundreds of hours, it has been the happiest time imaginable as I immersed myself in the sweetness and delight of my wild neighbours.Trade Review"This magnificent book offers a surprising new angle on London." * Daily Mail (UK) *"Stunning images of animals. . . . An incredible array of natural beauty in our country." * The Lady (UK) *"These pictures are glorious. I cannot recommend this book more highly." * The Carrie and David Grant Show, BBC Radio London *"I read this book with envy at the author's ability to share peace and tranquility with the wilderness around her, allowing the wild creatures to feel safe enough to come as close to her as you can see in her amazing images." * Outdoor Photography Magazine *"There is ever increasing evidence that proximity to nature is highly effective in combating a wide range of mental and physical health issues. Wild Neighbours should be a compulsory prescription for all Londoners in these challenging times—not just a visual tonic, but a constant reminder of the extraordinary wealth of flora and fauna at our doorstep." -- Mark Adlington, author of Painting the Ice Bear"From the mighty stags of Richmond Park to the smallest beetle in a back garden, Cheesbrough’s evocative photographs will make your heart soar with the magic and wonder of nature and hope for the future." -- Sophy Fearnley-Whittingstall, founder, SFW Communications"Cheesbrough’s stunning portraits of London wildlife are a joy to behold. They’re also a timely reminder of how much we have to gain from being more generous with our urban spaces, how allowing nature into our own backyards not only addresses the desperate questions of biodiversity loss but is balm for the soul." -- Isabella Tree, author of Wilding

Wymer Publishing Iron Maiden The Reading Performances
Book SynopsisIron Maiden first appeared at the Reading Rock Festival in 1980 when Paul Di'Anno was fronting the band and Dennis Stratton was on guitar. They appeared second on the bill to UFO on the second night. Undoubtedly for Maiden's Steve Harris there was nothing but respect for the headliners with UFO's Pete Way being one of Harris's biggest bass guitar influences. Also on the bill that day were two future Iron Maiden members - Bruce Dickinson, then the lead singer with Samson, and guitarist Janick Gers of White Spirit, who were brought in as a replacement band. By 1982 when Maiden returned to Reading it was naturally as the headlining act on the Saturday evening. The band had gone through significant changes to the line-up, most notably with Bruce Dickinson now fronting them, which coincided with their rise in popularity. Incredibly it would be another twenty-three years before Maiden returned to Reading, by which time they were in their third decade and had become the undisputed giants of metal. Their longevity also stood out as most of the other major acts that performed over the three days had only appeared on the scene over the previous few years and none could boast a back catalogue quite like Maiden's. With a large collection of photos by Alan Perry and memorabilia from the gigs plus narrative from Iron Maiden biographer Neil Daniels, this book is a wonderful celebration of Maiden's unforgettable appearances at this British institution.

Key Publishing Ltd Cornish Rail: St Austell to Penzance
Book SynopsisThis book follows the railway through the eye-catching scenery of the west of the county. Over 180 stunning full-colour photographs take the reader on a journey that starts in St Austell, against the backdrop of the clay workings, before moving on through the rich, arable farmland that surrounds the line on the way to the capital city, Truro. West of Truro, the landscape is littered with former mine workings and signs of its rich industrial heritage. The scenery then changes as the line continues on past the busy fruit farms west of Camborne and proceeds on to Hayle. Once across Hayle's unique viaduct, it runs through St Erth before passing St Michael's Mount, skirting Mounts Bay and finishing at the terminus of Penzance. Also explored are the existing branches that are still running, including the Burngullow to Parkandillack line, the only freight-only branch still running, and the passenger branch lines of Truro to Falmouth and St Erth to St Ives. Nostalgically, the Hayle Wharves branch has been included and is the only line in the volume that no longer exists. 180 illustrations

Key Publishing Ltd Scottish Railways: The Last 15 Years
Book SynopsisThe last 15 years have seen many changes in Scotland's rail network, including the replacement of old rolling stock, an explosion of colourful liveries, the opening of routes, the demise of coal trains and a boom in container freight traffic. Furthermore, electrification has changed a number of the lines beyond recognition. These changes have led to new electric units ousting the diesels and the introduction of HSTs on services between the Scottish cities. Illustrated with over 180 images, this book details the huge variety of trains, ranging from the everyday to the unusual, that have been seen on Scotland's rails in the last 15 years.

Dewi Lewis Publishing BURNTHOUSE LANE
Book SynopsisThe Burnthouse Lane estate was first dreamt up by Exeter Council in the idealistic 1920s to rehouse impoverished people from the West Quarter slum. Designed along Garden City lines and purposely self-contained it was a place for working-class families to live. In the 1980s, Margaret Thatcher''s Right to Buy scheme meant that some of the properties became privately owned, but Burnt House Lane is still referred to as a council estate. The deprivation it was supposed to overcome has continued to haunt it, but the isolated nature of the estate and its intricate labyrinth of lanes, have also made for positives, such as a close-knit community and a sense of solidarity among the residents. Michelle Sank has developed an international reputation for her powerful environmental portraits. She has published four previous books and has exhibited widely across the world. Born in South Africa, Michelle Sank settled in the UK in 1987. She cites this background as informing her interest in sub-culture
