The book reveals the impact of stress on arthritis, while it troubleshoots topics like digestive health, arthritis in childhood, and co-existing conditions.Above all, this book will help you to shift your mindset and develop a more positive approach to your illness - you are not beyond help, but with some simple steps can regain better mobility, less pain and a happier future. Margaret Hills, and the Margaret Hills ClinicAt the age of 21, while training to be a nurse, Margaret Hills developed rheumatoid arthritis literally overnight, resulting in months of complete bed rest to aid her recovery. Years later, after completing her training, she developed osteoarthritis, leading to another attack of rheumatoid arthritis, leaving her crippled and in severe pain. Realising that the medical profession could do nothing for her, as the only available treatment was aspirin, she began to look into natural treatments.Margaret researched many different natural approaches to healing, including traditional remedies such as Epsom Salts baths and Cider Vinegar. She combined these detoxification remedies with a particular combination of nutritional supplements to develop her own treatment. After a year of following this regimen, she rid herself of all signs of arthritis, and continued to lead a pain-free life. The word spread gradually of Margaret Hills' efforts to rid herself of all arthritic symptoms, and many people contacted her to find out more details as so many were in a similar situation of extreme pain due to arthritis of some type. Due to huge public interest, she opened a clinic to help others who were suffering, and to guide others through their recovery. The clinic, now run by her daughter, Christine Horner, continues to attract patients from far and wide and, following on from its success, Margaret wrote this book to impart her knowledge and help people with arthritis everywhere.Trade Review"I took up two of her main remedies... That was ten years ago, and I have been free of arthritic pain ever since. If you already have bad arthritis, I advise contacting the Margaret Hills Clinic." * Sir Ranulph Fiennes, 'Fit for Life' *

Book SynopsisAllie and Sam are two moms. Mommy and Other Mommy. One carried the couple's twin boys, who are genetically related to the othera cute little story of teamwork with a happy ending. But it was so much more than that. When they decided to grow their family, they naively went into things thinking they'd have a baby nine months later. Easy. Their conception journey began with nothing but hope. Planning pregnancy announcements. Picking names. (Picking sperm!) Soon, that turned into the harsh realization that it would take several years, thousands of dollars, and so much heartbreak to even get close to a baby. As a same-sex couple, Allie and Sam faced barriers from day one. If it wasn't constant heteronormativity, it was a couple of thousand dollars in the trash, next to another negative pregnancy testjust to rub it in a little more. It was jealousy of friends who were on baby one, then baby two, before they could even get in for another try at the fertility clinic. Who had sperm readily available at home. Who had babies for free. It took three years, three IUIs, one home insemination, one round of IVF, two losses, four embryo transfers, $50,000, and ultimately, a whole lot of teamwork. And now they get to watch their twins grow and learn, as Mommy and Other Mommy. With two moms, their family looks a little different to a lot of people. That's why it's important to share Sam and Allie's journey: to help normalize all types of families, and to hopefully make people think twice before they ask Who's the mom?

Tim Everson A History of the Christmas Crib
Book SynopsisThe Christmas Crib or Nativity Scene appears in churches every Christmas, but can also been seen in many shops and private houses. This book examines the history of the crib from gospel times to today and is the first full history written on the subject in the UK for nearly 100 years. The book begins with the Gospel narratives and the trail of the original crib or manger of Jesus. It also covers the history of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and the creation of the feast day of Christmas. It then deals with artistic depictions and church liturgy up to the time of St Francis of Assisi showing how the Christmas scene was imagined. The story of St Francis is fully covered along with the greater importance attached to Christmas following his service at Greccio. The first large nativity groups were set up in churches, and we see how these early cribs developed through to the Reformation. After the Counter Reformation people were encouraged, especially by the Franciscans and Jesuits, to have cribs in their houses. Cribs then developed into many different styles throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In the twentieth century, crib societies were set up, and home crafting encouraged ‘build your own’ cribs in many forms and using many different materials.

Granta Books How the World Eats
Book SynopsisHow we live is shaped by how we eat. You can see this in the vastly different approaches to growing, preparing and eating food around the world, such as the hunter-gatherer Hadza in Tanzania whose sustainable lifestyle is under threat in a crowded planet, or Western societies whose food is farmed or bred in vast intensive enterprises. And most of us now rely on a complex global food web of production, distribution, consumption and disposal, which is now contending with unprecedented challenges. The need for a better understanding of how we feed ourselves has never been more urgent. In this wide-ranging and definitive book, philosopher Julian Baggini expertly delves into the best and worst food practises in a huge array of different societies, past and present. His exploration takes him from cutting-edge technologies, such as new farming methods, cultured meat, GM and astronaut food, to the ethics and health of ultra processed food and aquaculture, as he takes a forensic look at the effectiveness of our food governance, the difficulties of food wastage and the effects of commodification. Extracting essential principles to guide how we eat in the future, How the World Eats advocates for a pluralistic, humane, resourceful and equitable global food philosophy, so we can build a food system fit for the twenty-first century and beyond.

Biteback Publishing 20 Things That Would Make the News Better
Book SynopsisWe are at a defining point in the history of news. Following a surge of fake news, clickbait and conspiracy theories, the 2020s have ushered in a welter of existential threats for public service broadcasting. So, where do we go from here? Former Today editor and head of BBC television news Roger Mosey thinks public service broadcasters must buck the trends and in this incisive book he offers twenty core ways in which the news can save itself by getting smarter, sharper, more diverse, more nuanced and less exposed to pummelling by politicians. Mosey sees two possible futures: one in which the incitements of populist demagogues and the passions of social media are ever dominant - or one where we fight hard to retain media that has an interest in the public good and preserves truth, fairness and evidence-based judgements. From one of British broadcasting's most experienced voices comes the definitive exploration of Britain's news output and what must change if we are to avoid a future of uninspiring news, uninformed decision-making and accountability-dodging politicians.

In the decades since the twilight of empire, Britain has struggled to find its place, and identity, in the world. This has come to the point of crisis since the 2008 financial crash. Meek meets the farmers and fishermen who wish Britain to turn its back on the world and restore its former glory, and are willing to lose the very support that their industry depends on. He reports on a Cadbury's factory that is to be shut down and moved to Poland in the name of free market economics, exploring the impact on the local community left behind. He charts how the NHS is coping with the twin burdens of austerity and an ageing population. Through his journey he asks what we can recover from the debris of an old nation as we head towards new horizons, and what we must leave behind. There are no easy answers, and what he creates instead is a masterly portrait of an anxious, troubled nation. Instead, he demands that we reconsider the power of the stories that we tell ourselves about who we are, a nation's alienated from itself.Trade ReviewMeek listens hard .
