Many of the items are very quick and simple to make but others require a few more tools and a bit of previous knowledge, for example the woodworking ones. Make your own foldaway cat gym that doubles as storage for toys, a cozy bed or raised container for food and drink bowls. Each project has a handsome full page photo of the finished item being enjoyed by two of the author’s beautiful cats as well as clear steps illustrated with drawn colored diagrams. These are easy to follow and make even the woodwork sound pretty simple and a mere step up from assembling flat pack furniture. As well as items for the cat there are cat-themed projects such as how to turn a notebook into a scrapbook, transform a plain T-Shirt with photos of your cat and iron-on transfer paper or create a placemat, tissue box cover or stationery with a moggy theme. All the work in here has a bright, 60s vibe about it but all the methods would work equally well whatever style you are into. If you don’t want to adorn your walls with hoops there is a chapter dedicated to applying the methods to making bags, jewellery, embellishing garments and more and if you live in the US you can find a list of stockists at the back. There is also a section of appliqué patterns (these mostly need to be enlarged) and a list of useful websites if you want more information about embroidery stitches, broderie perse and crazy quilting. The Weekend Getaways and the Summer Vacation projects take a little longer to complete and are larger... Bags, zipper pouches and even a quilt are included. What is great about this book, is the enormous wealth of sewing information given. Advice on fabric choices and cutting, colour scheme help and a handy tool kit guide are invaluable to every stitcher. I adored the Share the Journey section. It gives ideas on different ways to gift your projects and other ways that they can be used. There are a couple of recipes and a music playlist to help make your sewing 'vacation' a pleasant and fun experience. I will be using this book to enjoy a fun afternoon sewing with my God-Daughter.
