The themes covered range from slavery, immigration, sweatshops, street gangs, wildlife in Central Park and the terrorist attacks of 9/11, to name a few. The reader is introduced to many characters, some famous and others unsung heroes who quietly trusted God and tried to make a difference in the lives of others. The challenge is made to the reader to reach others with the good news of Jesus too. The best praise for this book comes from my eight-year-old, who said: 'I think it's a very good book and it's always pointing to Jesus'." -- Evangelicals Now

Book SynopsisWatch out - these stories are H...H...Hot!Each one is about fire - but there's not a matchstick or a marshmallow in sight! But fire also appears in the New Testament... soldiers with torches arrest Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. Peter warms himself by some flames while at the same time he denies the Lord Jesus. • Thank You God

Christian Focus Publications Ltd Thank You God

Book SynopsisA Colouring BookTrade ReviewThese little colouring books are great. Sarah Womersley is known for her comical, cutesy drawings of typical family life, of skinny children with bemused smiles, button noses, knock knees and baggy ankle socks. Each page contains a different scene to illustrate a different Bible verse... The illustrations are surrounded with bold lines and plenty of space so would be suitable for young or even older children. The pictures are interesting and busy, so there is much to capture the imagination and discuss, sometimes bordering more on the cartoon...these books would be ideal for Sunday School, birthday presents, or wet weekend fillers. There are 14 pictures in each book. -- Helen Moores, Christian Bookstore Journal

  • Talking With God

Christian Focus Publications Ltd Talking With God

    7 in stock

Book SynopsisThank you that you are my Father in heaven that I never have to say 'Goodbye'. Thank you that you are always with me." In an age of absentee fathers, or worse, this book makes praying the 'Our Father' accessible to all children. Good foundations are laid for a child's understanding of the character of God. It's fun too - hunt the prayer replaces hunt the thimble as just the thing for the family to do instead of watching Neighbours. There are good ideas of making a banner which even dads might join in with.Though the artwork is good, the pages leave me wondering who is supposed to read the book - parent, leader, or child? The teaching itself is sometimes uneasily mingled with instructions about using it. And if only we had a version of the Lord's Prayer everyone used. However, the book will prove a treasure trove of ideas either for family prayers or for Sunday groups. I am looking forward to playing Get it right, the board game inside the back cover. This game helps us think through the choices we make in our behaviour each day and especially what 'Your will be done' might mean in the school playground.Trade Review"This is a must have book for parents with growing children. Through studying the Lord's Prayer, and with discussion topics and things to do together, you can help your child understand what prayer is all about. Lessons are reinforced with craft activities and a fun, foldout game." -- Indepth

  • Peeters Publishers The Manifestation of God's Merciful Justice: A

    2 in stock

Book SynopsisRom 3:21-26 is crucial to the Letter to the Romans. Yet the construction and syntax of the pericope is perplexing, its meaning ambiguous or even obscure, its rhetoric complex and its interpretation and theology therefore controversial. Although clearly rich, its meaning is not easy to grasp in detail. For many interpreters, it concerns the justification of the human before God. For others it is about how Christ’s faithful death justifies and redeems humanity. We can describe the former interpretation as anthropocentric, focused on a perceived human need; and the latter as christocentric, focused on the action of Christ. This book argues that a theocentric reading does more justice to the text. Other readings overlook the overwhelming centrality and activity of God in Paul’s text. But a theocentric perspective provides a key which unlocks many of the puzzles in this passage and enables us to understand Romans 1-3.

  • Peeters Publishers Comment? Les Lamentations de Jérémie

    3 in stock
