    Out of stock

Book SynopsisIn this book, water-dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO)-cellulose and water-acetonitrile (AN)-cellulose systems are studied. The sorption isotherms of the components on cellulose from water-organic mixtures are obtained, immersion heats of cellulose in water-DMSO and water-AN mixtures and heats of phenol dissolution in the above-mentioned mixtures are measured. The thermodynamic characteristics of phenol dissolution as well as sorption character on cellulose change drastically at concentrations corresponding to change of character of cluster formation in water-DMSO and water-AN mixtures. It is shown that sorption of the components of binary water-organic mixtures and phenol sorption from these mixtures on cellulose depend on the intermolecular interactions in the water-DMSO and water-AN solutions.

  • Vapor Emission to Outdoor Air & Enclosed Spaces

Nova Science Publishers Inc Vapor Emission to Outdoor Air & Enclosed Spaces

Book SynopsisRemediation of subsurface contamination is an up-to-date subject, due to the high number of contaminated sites in all developed countries. Risk assessment for long term exposure to humans is the approach most applied world-wide to identify contaminated sites and the remediation target limits. Exposure pathways for humans at polluted sited often involve inhalation of vapours from soil or groundwater, both outdoor and within enclosed spaces. Many models are available for this purpose, based on concentration input data referred to different media (soil gas, soil, groundwater) located below the ground surface or buildings. This book discusses research in this field in order to improve both modelling tools and field measurements.

Book SynopsisSince the ancient days of research polyphenolic compounds have found a variety of use in medicinal chemistry and presently have found their applications in material research. There is a diverse interest in studying polyphenolic-based materials ranging from enzymes to plastic materials. However, there is no unified approach towards these studies to correlate structures with the different types of properties in order to implement such studies in applied engineering. This book presents a unified approach on synthetic and natural polyphenolic compounds in different forms and elaborate their properties with selective examples.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Group Theory Applied to Boundary Value Problems

    1 in stock

Book SynopsisIn order to fully apprehend the conceptual aspects of the world, we need to look at the practical applications of those concepts, as the book provides a popular application of the wondrously captivating mathematical concept of group theory. For most of us laymen, mathematics is conceived primarily as arithmetic, something to do with quantities. However, the real beauty of mathematics emerges when it is about qualities and relations. Maths helps us to understand bewildering complexities of life and the universe, from basic particles to infinite galaxies. It is this fundamental scientific understanding that transforms into the applications that eventually yield constructive change in the world. The wide overview of this book gives generously, both to those who seek the purity of understanding, and those who are attracted to hands-on applications.

  • Molybdenum: Its Biological & Coordination

Nova Science Publishers Inc Molybdenum: Its Biological & Coordination

    2 in stock

Book SynopsisMolybdenum is an essential trace element for virtually all life forms. It functions as a co-factor for a number of enzymes that catalyse important chemical transformations in the global carbon, nitrogen, and sulphur cycles. Thus, molybdenum-dependent enzymes are not only required for human health, but also for the health of our ecosystem. Molybdenum and its compounds are also very important in catalysis and in medicine, so it is not surprising that its biological and coordination chemistry remain very active areas of research. The enormous chemistry of molybdenum, much of which remains untapped, was investigated over many years by two icons: Edward I Stiefel and A Geoffrey Sykes. Ed and Geoff, as they were affectionately called by many of their friends and research students, are being honoured for their contributions to research on molybdenum with this textbook.
