Collective Ink Golden Phoenix, The: Russia, Ukraine and a Coming
Book SynopsisIn The Fall of the West Nicholas Hagger examined the evidence for the origin of Covid and whether it has been used as a bio-weapon between West and East. He saw the US, worried by China’s Belt-and-Road Initiative in 140 countries, as collaborating with the Western Syndicate’s New World Order based on the Great Reset advocated by Schwab’s World Economic Forum and the UN’s Agenda 2030. He saw an authoritarian New World Order that could accommodate Russia and China as being established before a democratic World State. In The Golden Phoenix (which completes a quartet that includes The Syndicate, The Secret History of the West and The Fall of the West and is also a sequel to Peace for our Time), Hagger carries the story forward from Ukraine’s being a corridor between the Black Sea and Europe for Russian natural gas to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In 2019 Hagger was invited to Russia to give a lecture in Moscow on a supranational World State to an audience which included men in military uniform, and he received several awards, including the Russian Ecological Foundation’s Golden Phoenix lapel badge. He was asked to write two letters to Putin and was in contact with Putin’s advisers. The phoenix rises from ashes, and Hagger considers whether the West is rising from the ashes of its withdrawal from Afghanistan to advance its technocratic New World Order by supplying arms to Ukraine and blocking Russian gas; or whether a Russian authoritarian New World Order is rising from the ashes of the defunct Soviet Union to dominate southern Ukraine, and eventually some former Soviet territories, in alliance with China’s Belt-and-Road New World Order in 140 countries; or whether the supranational democratic global New World Order he outlined in World State and World Constitution is rising from the ashes of the Second World War like a golden phoenix. The Russian Foreign Minister has said that NATO is in effect in a war with Russia, and that there is a real danger of a Third World War, and Hagger assesses the likely outcome of the current conflict.

Diet-related disease is now the biggest cause of preventable illness and death in the developed world - far worse than smoking. The environmental damage done by the food system is also changing climate patterns and degrading the earth, risking our food security. Crecy Publishing abc Military Aircraft of the 1950s Combined
Book SynopsisFor many people, the 1950s was the golden era of military aircraft development, and a time when theworld''s air forces boasted probably the most varied and eclectic fleet of aircraft ever seen inpeacetime. Aircraft in active military service ranged from a few left-over World War Two designs, through first generation jets and 1940''s re-purposed aircraft, to new machines at the cutting edge ofaerospace technology, some of which would continue in service for decades to come. The UK armed forces alone were operating more than 100 types of aircraft, many of them producedby domestic aviation manufacturers. The US and Canada were also fielding a wide variety of militaryaircraft and starting to push the boundaries of speed and altitude capabilities. In continental Europe itseemed that almost every country had its own indigenous military aircraft; whilst rumours andspeculation were rife about the latest aerospace advances by the USSR.The 1950s also saw the rise of the ''abc'' range of books by Ian Allan. Originally started as a series of''spotters guides'' for railway enthusiasts wanting to record the identities of steam locomotives, theseries grew to encompass hundreds of titles on subjects as diverse as ships, military vehicles, motorcycles, space travel and, of course, aircraft. Each abc book contained the known data andspecifications for each aircraft type, together with a short description, three view drawing andphotograph. In an era when public information on military aircraft types was often in short supply, the abc guides were the acknowledged reference source for enthusiasts, aviation professionals andeven the military themselves! The original abc books have become highly-prized collectors items, but to bring their contents to a wideraudience Crécy Publishing has delved into its extensive Ian Allan archives and produced this compilationof several abc titles from the mid-1950s. Covering military aircraft from Britain, the USA, Canada,Continental Europe and even the USSR, the types covered range from the famous and legendary, toexperimental one-offs and rare designs which were destined for obscurity or even notoriety. For many, this book will be pure nostalgia for a lost era of classic military aviation; but it is also animportant historical record of its time, highlighting the contrast between the break-neck pace ofmilitary aircraft development for the front-line, alongside the classic wartime aircraft still to be foundoperating in many parts of the world.

Liverpool University Press The First World Festival of Negro Arts, Dakar
Book SynopsisIn April 1966, thousands of artists, musicians, performers and writers from across Africa and its diaspora gathered in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, to take part in the First World Festival of Negro Arts (Premier Festival Mondial des arts nègres). The international forum provided by the Dakar Festival showcased a wide array of arts and was attended by such celebrated luminaries as Duke Ellington, Josephine Baker, Aimé Césaire, André Malraux and Wole Soyinka. Described by Senegalese President Léopold Sédar Senghor, as ‘the elaboration of a new humanism which this time will include all of humanity on the whole of our planet earth’, the festival constituted a highly symbolic moment in the era of decolonization and the push for civil rights for black people in the United States. In essence, the festival sought to perform an emerging Pan-African culture, that is, to give concrete cultural expression to the ties that would bind the newly liberated African ‘homeland’ to black people in the diaspora. This volume is the first sustained attempt to provide not only an overview of the festival itself but also of its multiple legacies, which will help us better to understand the ‘festivalization’ of Africa that has occurred in recent decades with most African countries now hosting a number of festivals as part of a national tourism and cultural development strategy.Trade Review'A terrific book that combines an impressive range of both new and emerging voices with leading international specialists located in transnational settings, and that will be of tremendous relevance to students and scholars in fields as diverse as cultural studies, performance studies, French and Francophone Studies, History and African Studies.'Dominic Thomas‘This book provides an in-depth analysis of an event that marked its era and resonates in ours and inspires others to take its ideas forward in new and unexpected directions.' Crecy Publishing British Railways Station Totems: The Complete
Book SynopsisThis is a second and completely revised edition of a book first published in 2002 which has been long out of print and is now much sought after. There has always been something special about those classic British Railways totem station signs that no other item of railway memorabilia possesses. They recall a railway system that, for better or worse, was far removed from that of today, when life was simpler and less formulaic, when stations were welcoming locations rather than barrier-laden fortresses, and signage was straightforward but still informative. Totems were deceptively simple in terms of their design and typography but clear, easy to recognise and colour coded for the various BR regions. They were found on stations across the network from Penzance to Wick and from Fishguard to Cromer. They told you what you needed to know and no more, they were standardised throughout the railway system, and have rightly earned their place in the ranks of collectible railwayana, with some examples reaching five-figure sums at auctions. This volume is as close as it is likely to get to a definitive book on all aspects of BR totems. Across its 350 pages are to be found 2,214 images - including 2,250 totems - 43 maps and a wealth of relevant statistics. For collectors of railwayana, students of design and for all those with an interest in railway history, this book will be both a visual delight and a reference source to be referred to again and again.

Sonicbond Publishing Mott The Hoople and Ian Hunter in the 1970s
Book SynopsisWhen Hereford group Silence teamed up with songwriter Ian Hunter in 1969 to form a group that aimed to be a cross between Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones and Procol Harum, they rapidly became one of Britain's most popular live acts, but a major hit single and album initially proved elusive. In 1972, disillusioned and exhausted, they split before being encouraged to reform by David Bowie and finding immediate chart success with a song he gave them, 'All the Young Dudes'. After two years of hits and internal conflicts Ian left and enjoyed a chequered solo career that has lasted to this day, initially in partnership with guitarist Mick Ronson until his death in 1993. The rest of the group subsequently shortened their name to Mott and then British Lions, the latter a collaboration with former Medicine Head front man John Fiddler, although they failed to re-establish themselves despite several solid months of touring on both sides of the Atlantic. As Ian wrote, 'Rock'n'roll's a loser's game'. They won, they lost, but during the 1970s released some inspired, highly individual music, that went on to inspire and be championed by several other acts, notably Queen, the Clash and Def Leppard.

The international intelligence collaboration between Britain, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, has shaped global events since its inception - and continues to do so to this day.Over eight decades, the alliance's agencies, including the CIA, FBI, MI5, MI6, GCHQ, and ASIO, have swapped secrets and tradecraft, and pooled resources. From Nazi hunters and World War II codebreakers, to spymasters and political leaders embroiled in the recent security crisis around Russia and Ukraine, they have shared a common purpose and common enemy, in spite of a mutual mistrust. In this revised and updated edition, Richard Kerbaj expertly weaves together stories of this extraordinary alliance and the unlikely cast of characters who have played a crucial role in its history. Bonnier Books Ltd Roger Daltrey: Thanks a lot Mr Kibblewhite, The
Book SynopsisRoger Daltrey is the voice of a generation. That generation was the first to rebel, to step out of the shadows of the Second World War... to invent the concept of the teenager. This is the story from his birth at the height of the Blitz, through tempestuous school days to his expulsion, age 15, for various crimes and misdemeanours within a strict school system. Thanks to Mr Kibblewhite, his authoritarian headmaster, it could all have ended there. The life of a factory worker beckoned. But then came rock and roll. He made his first guitar from factory off-cuts. He formed a band. The band became The Who - Maximum R&B - and, by luck and by sheer bloody-mindedness, Roger Daltrey became the frontman of one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. This is the story of My Generation, Tommy and Quadrophenia, of smashed guitars, exploding drums, cars in swimming pools, fights, arrests and redecorated hotel rooms. But it is also the story of how that post-war generation redefined the rules of youth. Out of that, the modern music industry was born - and it wasn't an easy birth. Money, drugs and youthful exuberance were a dangerous mix. This is as much a story of survival as it is of success.Four years in the making, this is the first time Roger Daltrey has told his story. It is not just his own hilarious and frank account of more than 50 wild years on the road. It is the definitive story of The Who and of the sweeping revolution that was British rock 'n' roll.

(…or three!) Scrooge’s heart is colder than snow, he’s richer than half the banks in England and meaner than, well, everyone. But when three seriously spooky ghosts turn up to take him on an adventure through time, he soon learns that being cold isn’t cool. Can he change his ways before it’s too late? About The Charles Dickens Children's Collection: Bah humbug! Who says the classics are just for adults? Join Ebenezer Scrooge on his ghostly Christmas adventure, or follow orphaned Oliver Twist from rags to riches in some of literature's most famous tales from the foggy streets of Victorian London. Trade ReviewI've always loved to read and reread multiple iterations of A Christmas Carol ever since I was a kid. This illustrated version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol makes it easy for children to read or to be read by parents for them. The illustrations beautifully capture the essence of the original story. This was a great, condensed version of the classic suitable for early readers. I really liked the black and white illustrations mixed with the text. -- Ankit Dhirasaria * NetGalley *This is a condensed version of the Dickens' classic with some fun and silly illustrations. It's suitable for the young reader and I think a lot of them would enjoy reading this edition.Kristin Jørgensen -- Kristin Jørgensen * NetGalley *Who's ready for a Christmas story? Are you expecting cheers, snow-fights, cakes, tarts, and Christmas trees? Well, none of those, Dickens is here to introduce you to an old man who is as cold and hard as your imagination could take you. And he, my friends, is not on holiday for Christmas! Is this man working on a Christmas Eve? Yes, this man is up for no celebration. Do you think that the ice around this man can be broken on Christmas? Think twice before answering, because this man is the most heartless fellow you might have come across. -- Nidhi Sinha * Biblio's Bookworm Blog *What a wonderful adaptation! The language is easy, whilst being faithful to the original story and it's famous phrases and the illustrations are in a fun style that children will enjoy - it reminded me of watching cartoons! -- Jessica Chapman * NetGalley *This was a great, condensed version of the classic suitable for early readers! I liked the black and white illustrations mixed with the text. -- Kristy Morales * NetGalley *An excellent adaptation of this Charles Dickens classic, not too scary but just scary enough! My granddaughter will thoroughly enjoy this and it will definitely be in her Christmas stocking. -- Terri Harwood * NetGalley *This is my husbands favourite Christmas story and he loved reading it to my daughter. The classic A Christmas Carol story special for kids. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is my favourite book of all times and I love every edition of this story. This book I think is well summarised for the kids with beautiful illustrations and it doesn’t let anything essential behind. -- Alexa Cataline * NetGalley *Philip Gooden has done a miraculous job making this classic story into a light and easy read with lots of great pictures. This felt so nostalgic and awesome, dipping back into my childhood of watching the film adaptation of this tale over and over. I felt the Christmas spirit and I felt holly and jolly reading about good ol' Scrooge all over again! What a tale! -- Briar Ramses * NetGalley *A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a classic for a reason. Not only a meaningful read for children, but a meaningful one for adults. This book tells the classic story of the grumpy Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by three ghosts in order to find happiness and find the joy of Christmas. This adaptation by Philip Gooden is a great edition to give children for the holiday season. Highly recommend this book for Christmastime! -- Jane Massman * NetGalley *This adapted story has modern illustrations and is a great way to introduce children to some of our greatest authors of all time. I found myself smiling throughout as I was reading this condensed book. Scrooge is colder than snow, he's richer than half the banks in England and meaner than, well everyone. But I wasn't sure how my just turned six year old little book worm would feel about so many spooky ghosts and all of them arriving on Christmas eve.. Like anything with children related and their learning - they are all unique. The answer is I think when she's 7/8 years old and has got through all her Roald Dahl books by herself and knows some people aren't always nice, then I would introduce it. I loved, loved, loved this book and the idea of it and of all the other titles about to be released. I will definitely buy it for her when it's published and maybe we will read it together. So I can be on hand to explain about ghostly things and questions. The book is a gem and I will be looking out for all of Philip Gooden and the other Easy Classic publications. I can't recommend it enough as a great way to introduce classics to children and I will be on the lookout to purchase some of the other books that will hit our books shops in October. Five big stars! -- Angela Groom * NetGalley *

I loved it'EDMUND DE WAAL'This book is the legacy Jim Ede might have wished for'OBSERVERThe lives of Jim Ede and the Kettle's Yard artists represent a thrilling tipping point in twentieth-century modernism: a new guard, a new way of making and seeing, and a new way of living with art. The artists Ben and Winifred Nicholson, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Alfred Wallis and Henri Gaudier-Brzeska were not a set like the Bloomsbury Set or Ravilious and his friends. But Jim Ede recognised in each of the artists he championed something common and kindred, some quality of light and life and line.Jim Ede is the figure who unites them. His vision continues to influence the way we understand art and modern living. He was a man of extraordinary energies: a collector, dealer, fixer, critic and, above all, friend to artists. For Ede, works of art were friends and art could be found wherever you looked - in a pebble, feather or seedhead. Art lived and a life without art, beauty, friendship and creativity was a life not worth living. Art was not for galleries alone and it certainly wasn't only for the rich. At Kettle's Yard in Cambridge, he opened his home and his collection to all comers. He showed generations of visitors that learning to look could be a whole new way of life.Trade ReviewThe beautiful, revelatory biography of Jim Ede and Kettle's Yard that we have been waiting for.
