  • Anavasi Sikinos: 2009

    1 in stock

Book SynopsisSikinos resembles a minimalist canvas composed of few but authentic elements. With the exception of the old cobblestone path from the harbour to Chora, of which only less than jalf remains, the rest of the network of footpaths is intact - although somewhat neglected. Anavasi has been at the forefront of developments in Greek cartography since the publication of its first map in 1997. It remains the only Greek cartographic company to use scientific methods for the collection of field data and map composition, using GPS and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for the organization and processing of data in over 100 thematic levels and creating databases on a national scale.

A network of footpaths, many of them between dry-stone walls and several laid with large slate stones, criss-cross the island's hinterland. Several paths are maintained and way-marked. • Psiloritis (Mount Ida): 2018

    Anavasi Psiloritis (Mount Ida): 2018

    2 in stock

Book SynopsisMt Psiloritis dominates the center of the island and the hearts of the Cretan people. It is an imposing, steep and rugged mountain, the place of upbringing of Zeus, of the Cretan wild goats and the unconquered Cretan soul. Trails climb from all sides to the highest peak where there is a stone chapel of the Holy Cross. Some new hiking trails are recorded on the map, such as the new long distance trail the Cretan Way - and the new mountain shelter in Lakka Mygerou which has become the starting point for the most popular route to the summit. There are very interesting ancient sites on Psiloritis such as the two famous caves, Idaion and Kamares, and the archaeological site of Zominthos - a Minoan palace that has not yet revealed all its secrets. On the reverse side of the map, there are suggested walking routes, with small texts and photos.

  • Anavasi Tinos: 2016

    1 in stock

Book SynopsisTinos island landscape is like a hand made embroidery. Rural huts, dovecotes, churches, terraces and villages are woven into a net of trails. In the first edition of the map, along with my partner Charles Merlin we have recorded several dozens of kilometers of footpaths. From then until the present second edition, Charles made a bet and target to enrich the map in paths, - and put in the game and his friend George Kennedy. Actually the recorded paths, doubled, and plenty of churches, bridges, huts, dovecotes were added beside the paths. Along with the improvements in topographic background and color palette, the map of Tinos has reached very high standards - because we don't like the easy path. On the back side there are several proposed hiking trails with short descriptions and updated information for marking of the paths.
