Als Privatunternehmen wären diese eigentlich dem Zivilrecht unterworfen und müssten für Schäden an Leib und Leben von Dritten oder eigenen Mitarbeitern haften. Gilt dieser Grundsatz vor US-amerikanischen Zivilgerichten auch für private Militärunternehmen oder sind diese tatsächlich in einem (zivil-)rechtsfreien Raum tätig? Hierzu hat Sebastian Sobotta die über 100 Gerichtsentscheidungen der Jahre 2004 bis 2020 zu solchen Schadensereignissen im Irak und in Afghanistan erstmals vollständig erfasst, systematisiert und ausgewertet.
