Trivent Publishing Book Power in Communication, Sociology and
Book SynopsisIn 2012, The Library of Congress (Washington, D.C., U.S.A.) had the initiative of organizing an annual meeting which would disseminate the vision of library leaders on the importance of the book. The meeting would gather all the categories involved in the book industry: writers, publishers, editors, professors, librarians. The goal was to create a platform for discussions on how to promote the book as a crucial element for culture and education enhancement. The power of information and its dissemination was discussed within the first edition, while keeping the book as a central element in all debates. After this first edition, the Summit of the book was organized yearly in different locations throughout the world: Singapore (2013), France (2014), Egypt (2015) and Ireland (2016). The event had a powerful international impact and in 2017 the 6th summit was hosted in Brasov (Romania) at the "Transilvania" University. This volume is the collection of the most valuable contributions to the 6th Summit of the Book where experts presented their best practices and expertise in the history and technology of the book, knowledge support, and book dissemination.Table of Contents Introduction, by Angela Repanovici, Manolis Koukourakis, Tereza Khechoyan PART I. Peeters Publishers Satricum in the Post-archaic Period: A Case Study
Book SynopsisHow can material culture be related to written history? The archaeological record of ancient Satricum (Borgo, Le Ferriere, Latium) pents an interesting case study. During the fifth and fourth centuries BC, the area was reportedly invaded by the Volscians. This Central-Italian people had long been archaeologically invisible, but recent investigations at Satricum have brought to light a rich record of material remains from precisely this period. The question is: does it reflect a Volscian presence or prove the continued occupation of the original, Latin inhabitants? This study argues that the material culture does indeed reflect a Volscian presence, but that it in no way confirms the barbarian image presented by ancient sources such as Livy. Marijke Gnade has lectured on Italian Archaeology at the University of Amsterdam since 1987. After participating in the Satricum Research Project for ten years, she became its executive director in 1991. Her first book on the subject, The Southwest Necropolis of Satricum, was published in 1992.

Peeters Publishers Studies in Ancient Hebrew Semantics
Book SynopsisThis publication is a collection of studies devoted to various aspects of the semantics and lexicography of Ancient Hebrew. All contributions except the last two were originally delivered as papers to a symposium held in July 1994 at Leiden University. The symposium rounded off a three-year-long international network funded by the European Science Foundation under the leadership of Prof. Dr. J. Hoftijzer, from whose contribution to the present volume one may gain an insight into the conception and philosophy of the research project and its history so far. This volume will, in addition to some earlier publications which have appeared in the Zeitschrift fur Althebraistik, give the reader some idea of the general thinking which has assisted the authors in the formulation of their approach to the task lying before them. It ought to be emphasised, however, that all the studies appearing in this volume ought to be of interest to any Hebraist and Old Testament scholar, for they are hardly "in-house" publications, but address some important aspects of the Ancient Hebrew semantics and lexicography.

NUS Press Unequal Thailand: Aspects Of Income, Wealth And
Book SynopsisExtreme inequalities in income, wealth and power lie behind Thailand’s political turmoil. What are the sources of this inequality? Why does it persist, or even increase when the economy grows? How can it be addressed? The contributors to this important study—Thai scholars, reformers and civil servants—shed light on the many dimensions of inequality in Thailand, looking beyond simple income measures to consider land ownership, education, finance, business structures and politics. Thecontributors propose a series of reforms in taxation, spending and institutional reform that can address growing inequality.Inequality is among the biggest threats to social stability in Southeast Asia, and this close study of a key Southeast Asian country will be relevant to regional policy-makers, economists and business decision-makers,as well as students of oligarchy and inequality more generally.Trade Review"Overall, this is an engaging and well-crafted volume that delivers much-needed new empirical research on the challenges of inequality and oligarchy in Thailand. This book represents some of the best minds from Thailand on the state of the country’s current political economy."New Mandala Review
