  • Triumph TR2, & TR3 - All models (including 3A &

    David & Charles Triumph TR2, & TR3 - All models (including 3A &

Book SynopsisThe Triumph TR2 and TR3 were the heralds of a long-running line of Triumph Sports Cars, culminating in the futuristic TR7 of the 1970s. They were truly sporting cars, suitable for competition and enjoyable fast road motoring. The quintessential British Sports Car of the 1950s, more than 83,000 side-screen TRs were produced, which contributed greatly to British manufacturing prestige - and the postwar economy - with approximately 90% being exported, principally to the USA and Canada. This book is written with the sole aim of giving prospective buyers key knowledge to choose the best example available according to budget. It covers models TR2, TR3, TR3A, and the rare TR3B, produced between 1953 and 1962. All aspects of the car are examined in detail and with many illustrations to back up the text. There is also advice on such matters as non-period modifications. Since the 1980s, the TR models have become finite in number, much cherished by owners, and increased in value, making it very important to know and understand the points to look for, as well as the potential pitfalls of choosing a rogue example. Having bought an imported TR3a, restoring it and preparing it for racing, the author is also a TR2/TR3 consultant for Club Triumph, and a regular contributor to its magazine, making him well-placed to guide you through finding and choosing the best model for you.Trade ReviewMost of us will be familiar with Veloce's 'Essential Buying Guide' series. This latest edition to the range completes the TR line-up by examining all TR2 and TR3 models from 1953-1962. It follows the regular format that includes a 15-minute evaluation, the key points of where to look for problems and a more detailed 60-minute examination of potential purchases. it also includes values, restoration advice and details of what the cars are like to live with. It is a pocket-sized book that aims big - as it says on the cover, it is the complete guide to choosing, assessing and buying the TR2 or TR3 of your dreams. - Triumph World. It's surprising how much detailed information and photos can be squeezed into just 64 sides but this is the ideal companion for someone considering a purchase. It discusses if it is the right car for you and how much is it likely to cost before delving into the practicalities of viewing and what to look for in a prospective TR purchase. If I were looking for one of the Side-screen TR's I would have no hesitation in taking this pocket-sized Essential Guide along with me. - Standard Motor Club. This book is aimed at anyone considering buying one of these early models, and guides you quickly and effectively through the pitfalls, known issues and problem areas to look out for; all in an accessible and readable style. If you are considering buying an early TR then as the title suggests, this book is an essential purchase. If you are not, it is a great insight into the origins of the TR species. - SIXappeal. If I had the room and the money, there'd be one sitting in my garage and thanks to this little book, I now know how to get a good one. TR Driver it is perfectly designed to be a handy “field guide” that buyers may easily carry with them when inspecting potential purchases. • Mercedes-Benz 190: all 190 models (W201 series)

    David & Charles Mercedes-Benz 190: all 190 models (W201 series)

    5 in stock

Book SynopsisThe 190 (W 201) was a landmark car for Mercedes-Benz: the predecessor to today's C-Class models, it was the company's first compact saloon (sedan) and combined advanced engineering with a new direction in body styling, later followed by the W124 and R129 series. Engines available included robust petrol and diesel `fours', as well as a silky `straight-six'. The sporting 190 E 2.3-16 and 2.5-16 models, initially developed with Cosworth, took Mercedes to new levels of performance. Altogether, nearly 1.9 million cars were produced, and today the 190 is an increasingly sought-after modern classic. This guide will help you learn about the differences between models, and what to look for when buying. What are the true running costs, and what issues - with the mechanicals, body or interior - should you be wary of? Is a restoration worth considering? This handy guide will take you step-by-step through the process of finding and evaluating a good 190 and making a successful purchase. Essential data and information about clubs and specialists will help you look after and enjoy your 190.Trade ReviewThe vast disparity in prices between a mint 190 and a rough one reveals how important it is to buy well, so this latest addition to the Essential Buyer's Guide series is welcome. It covers all aspects of buying and owning the baby Benz, from paint to paperwork, and includes every model, from base diesel to the twin-cam Cosworths. It is a must to pop in the packet when you view a potential purchase. - Classic & Sports Car. This book provides helpful tools in evaluating this car if you are not familiar with them. - Chris Bass Freelance. Great addition to this growing range is this buying guide for Mercedes-Benz 190. Don't buy this car without a copy. - Practical Classics. Another excellent guide from Julian Parish, covering every 190 model up to and including the 16v cars. Covering everything from ideal specifications for resale through to things to check when buying and options to avoid, the book is vital for anyone looking to buy a 190 of they’re looking for the best. An excellent read ... there’s really no excuse not to buy it. Like the W123 book, there’s a comprehensive evaluation and grading system included for those keen to buy. – Mercedes Driver.Table of ContentsIntroduction 1. Is it the right car for you? 2. 5 in stock

Book SynopsisThis book follows the history and development of Brian Harris Transport Limited, the original red, green, and yellow liveried lorries that made the trek between Devon and Scotland at regular intervals for over fifty years. In 1946, Brian's father, Jerry, and Sam Miners formed Harris & Miners; with their fleet of two Ford trucks and one Commertipper, these two men took on the ultimate haulage challenge of the time: road vs. train. The outcome was that Harris & Miners were offered a contract to haul 'Devon Grate' Candy fire surrounds to Glasgow in 1947. Young Brian Harris began driving for his father in an Albion Chieftain in 1960. When Jerry Harris passed, Brian bought out the Miners family and the company became Brian Harris Transport Limited. With his fleet of ERF lorries fitted with Gardner engines, Brian set about running the company in a way only understood by him. Over the course of its existence, the company utilized a vast quantity of magnificent machines, including the first ERF 'A' series in that area, the Leyland Roadtrain and one Leyland DAF. Brian Harris died in April 2012 and his funeral was attended by over 600 people from all over the UK. This new edition gives an update to the events that have taken place since the second edition was published in 2007, including the eulogy given by the author at the funeral, as well as 82 previously unpublished photographs.
