Nova Science Publishers Inc Retirement: Issues, Benefits and Developments
Book SynopsisStrengthening the U.S. retirement system to be more accessible and financially sound is important to ensuring that all Americans can retire with dignity and security, and to managing the fiscal exposures to the federal government from various retirement-related programs. Currently, the U.S. retirement system, and many of the workers and retirees it was designed to help, face major challenges. Chapter 1 discusses (1) the fiscal risks and other challenges facing the U.S. retirement system, and (2) the need to re-evaluate our nation's approach to financing retirement. Chapters 2 and 3 discuss the Social Security full retirement age. Chapter 4 provides information on the benefits and disadvantages of alternate price indexes for measuring the cost of living for older Americans. Chapter 5 examines (1) how much in retirement savings is transferred to states as unclaimed property and what happens to those savings once transferred and (2) the steps IRS and DOL have taken to oversee these transfers and what improvements are needed. Chapter 6 discusses the availability of enhanced retirement benefits for federal law enforcement officers (LEOs). Chapters 7 and 8 focus on the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB), an independent federal agency, which administers retirement, survivor, disability, unemployment, and sickness insurance for railroad workers and their families. Linden Publishing Co Inc Start Your Own Home Business After 50: How to
Book SynopsisWritten for people who are old enough to know who they are, what they want, and what skills they are best at, this guide shows exactly how to build a successful and profitable business. Older people are among the world''s most successful entrepreneurs with a wealth of in-depth experience, education, and mature judgment that younger people can''t match; they also care more about creating financial security and doing what they want. Business consultant and serial entrepreneur Robert Bly teaches how to find the right home business opportunity; determine the target market for that business; sell the right product to the market at a profit; manage the business without wasting time; effectively market the business; comply with all laws, regulations, and taxes for the business; and generate enough income for retirement. Covering every aspect of building a successful business, not just the broad outlines, this book also provides senior-oriented information on computer equipment, the internet, and social media marketing.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Women's Retirement Security: Challenges & Trends
Book SynopsisElderly women, who comprise a growing portion of the U.S. population, have historically been at greater risk of living in poverty than elderly men. Several factors contribute to the higher rate of poverty among elderly women including their tendency to have lower lifetime earnings, their taking time out of the workforce to care for family members, and outliving their spouses. Other factors affecting older women''s financial insecurity include the economic downturn and changing trends in pension plan offerings. This book examines how women''s access to and participation in employer-sponsored retirement plans compare to men''s and how they have changed over time; how women''s retirement income compares to men''s and how the composition of their income the proportion of income coming from different sources - has changed with the economic conditions and trends in pension design; and what policy options are available to help increase women''s retirement income security.

Canterbury Press Norwich The Contented Life: Spirituality and the Gift of Years
Book SynopsisAs a new bishop, Robert Atwell responded to a direct challenge from older church members, who usually make up the biggest majority in any congregation. Why, they asked, was there always so much for the young; what was there for them? This book grew out of his response. A series of talks he gave on the spirituality of growing older and the gifts that wait to be discovered generated an unprecedented response, not only throughout the diocese, but on blogs and websites around the world. 60 really is the new 40 for increasing numbers of people. The retired are a huge consumer category, increasingly recognised by marketing gurus. They may have disposable income, time on their hands, and the leisure of choice - but wisdom, humour and honesty are essential for these transitional decades too and this short book offers all three in plenty. The author's background in Benedictine life, with its profound understanding of what makes for a balanced and rich life, flavours a book of timeless value
