Trine Day Revelations: The True Story of Rev. Dr.Joseph Leo
Book SynopsisThe Rev. Dr. Leo Theriault is not only an Anglican priest, an erstwhile Roman Catholic priest, but a Doctor of Psychology—a recognized authority on psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, and group management. He knows the depth of sex scandals, why they occurred, and why the church is so ill-equipped to control the inequities. Leo may be considered a rogue priest, not in the typical interpretation of a malefactor against the creeds or liturgy of the Church, but as a foot soldier battling the evil manifestation of repugnant morals and mores within. With master’s in theology and doctorate in psychology, the Church hierarchy assumed they had a great defender in their midst against accusations. This was not to be. Leo fought child abuse from the podium, the pulpit, the couch, and the courts. The reader possibly will maintain or retain their peace of mind and assurance of their faith. Leo was a Ford Foundation Fellow.Table of ContentsChapter I Paradox Chapter II Genesis Chapter III My Youth Chapter IV School Days Chapter V The Seminary Chapter VI One Too Many Chapter VII Two Too Many Chapter VIII Three Too Many Chapter IX Four Too Many Chapter X Farmers Association Chapter XI Awakening Chapter XII Vatican II Chapter XIII Group Homes Chapter XIV Ford Foundation Fellow Chapter XV The Hypocrisy of it All Chapter XVI Correctional Services Chapter XVII Truth or Consequences Chapter XVIII Chain of Events Chapter XIX From Rome to London Chapter XX What Dreams are Made Of Chapter XXI On the Hit List Chapter XXII Pedophilia and the Church Chapter XXIII Slings and Arrows Epilogue

Christian Focus Publications Ltd A Christian's Pocket Guide to Suffering: How God
Book SynopsisWhen tragedy strikes-the death of a child, hurricanes, a school shooting-we begin looking for an escape from the pain, a way out, or we clamor for answers from a panel of religious "experts" to explain the ever-present question, "Why?" We want answers and we want to believe that our suffering isn't meaningless.A Christian's Pocket Guide to Suffering seeks to simply, but clearly, present a biblical view of suffering so that your feet might land on the solid foundation of God's Word and the God of that Word and, there, find understanding and hope. All other ground is sinking sand.Trade ReviewA concisely written, pastorally focused, gospel-infused account of the place of suffering in the Christian life. A perfect guide to aid troubled souls find peace and comfort when the storm breaks. -- Derek W. H. Thomas (Senior Minister of Preaching and Teaching, First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, South Carolina)If you find yourself wandering in the valley of the shadow of death and see no signs to show you the way through, pick up this little book and read it! It offers sound, Christ-centered, biblical, and yet eminently practical counsel on suffering. -- J. V. Fesko (Harriet Barbour Professor of Systematic and Historical Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, Mississippi)No matter who we are, suffering is something we'll encounter at some point in our lives, whether we're witness to someone else's pain and have no idea what to say or how to help, ordealing with our own sorrow and thinking no one else understands what we're going through. A Christian's Pocket Guide to Suffering by Brian H. Cosby is a relatively short read, but it's practical and Bible-centred, answering many of the questions we have about suffering, and pointing us to God's Word for hope in painful circumstances. -- Free MagazineHere is one small book addressing one monumental subject in the one essential way--filling our minds with and directing our hearts to the truths of Scripture. Brian Cosby serves the church and those suffering well with this helpful, pastoral, and wise volume on sufferring. In these pages you will find help with a reality we all must wrestle with and will eventually experience to some degree. -- Jason Helopoulos (Senior Pastor, University Reformed Church, East Lansing, Michigan)

Book SynopsisThis festschrift deals with a number of themes: dreams, systemic or specialised pastoral care, the psychology of religion and counseling. It picks up on the publications of Christoph Morgenthaler, one of the most important scholars in the field during his 25-year career. The various disciplines of theology are shaped by the ideas that dominate the respective era as well as by the personalities who propagate them. This festschrift is dedicated to the Swiss theologian and psychologist Christoph Morgenthaler and his achievements. Characteristic and typical for his works are the themes of dreams, systemic pastoral care, specialised pastoral care, the psychology of religion and counseling. The contributions are connected in one way or the other to the publications of Christoph Morgenthaler. They deal directly with his thoughts and use them as impulses for their own considerations.

Book SynopsisDie spezifische Seelsorge fordert zu grundsätzlichen Fragen heraus, deren Beantwortung folgenschwer ist. Was ist Bewusstsein? Was heiÃt Personsein?

Peeters Publishers After You! : Dialogical Ethics and the Pastoral
Book SynopsisThe subject of this book is pastoral counseling as a particular form of pastoral care in the Christian context. Central in the reflection stays the counseling process as dialogue and ethical event, inspirend by thinkers as Levinas, Buber, Honneth, Bakhtin, Vygotsky, Nagy, and others. The first part provides building blocks for an interdisciplinary reflection on different forms and fields of counseling as a qualitative event of conversation. The views on the event of dialogue are illustrated on the basis of different forms and fields of conversation that come from both the pastoral as well as the therapeutic and guidance setting. Contributors to the first part are: Sheila McNamee, Lisbeth Lipari, Marie-Cecile Bertau, Peter Rober, Vangie Bergum, Darcia Narvaez. The second part focuses on the pastoral counselling as 'event of conversation' whereby our 'dialogical human condition' takes shape in its own manner. Two seemingly contradictory characteristics are linked with each other, namely asymmetry and reciprocity, or better reciprocity in a context of ethical asymmetry, with special attention for the different aspects of responsibility, recognition, power, and visible or hidden forms of violence. The different contributors (Marina Riemslagh, Carrie Doehring, Annelies van Heijst, Axel Liegeois, Annemie Dillen, Roger Burggraeve) indicate stepstones for a pastoral relationship without tyranny. Kenneth and Mary Gergen offer a critical postscriptum on the 'missing voices' to make possible a 'fully relational ethic' in (pastoral) care-giving and counselling.
