Book SynopsisDesigning a research project is possibly the most difficult task a dissertation writer faces. It is fraught with uncertainty: what is the best subject? What is the best method? For every answer found, there are often multiple subsequent questions, so it's easy to get lost in theoretical debates and buried under a mountain of literature. This book looks at literature review in the process of research design, and how to develop a research practice that will build skills in reading and writing about research literatureskills that remain valuable in both academic and professional careers. Literature review is approached as a process of engaging with the discourse of scholarly communities that will help graduate researchers refine, define, and express their own scholarly vision and voice. This orientation on research as an exploratory practice, rather than merely a series of predetermined steps in a systematic method, allows the researcher to deal with the uncertainties andTrade ReviewUnlike other books on research, this book does not prescribe methods or recipes. Rather, it feels like one is sitting with an experienced dissertation coach, having a series of short conversations about the tacit knowledge that underlies the various aspects of research practice. After reading this book, novice researchers will have a better understanding of how the literature supports and brings out a researcher’s own voiceArnold Wentzel, author of Creative Research in Economics (Routledge, 2016) and A Guide to Argumentative Research Writing and Thinking (Routledge, 2017)Table of ContentsIntroductionAcknowledgementsPart One: On ResearchChapter 1. Book SynopsisSmall Area Estimation and Microsimulation Modeling is the first practical handbook that comprehensively presents modern statistical SAE methods in the framework of ultramodern spatial microsimulation modeling while providing the novel approach of creating synthetic spatial microdata. Along with describing the necessary theories and their advantages and limitations, the authors illustrate the practical application of the techniques to a large number of substantive problems, including how to build up models, organize and link data, create synthetic microdata, conduct analyses, yield informative tables and graphs, and evaluate how the findings effectively support the decision making processes in government and non-government organizations.FeaturesCovers both theoretical and applied aspects for real-world comparative research and regional statistics productionThoroughly explains how microsimulation modeling tTrade Review"The book aims at introducing modern statistical small area estimation methodologies into the framework of spatial microsimulation modelling for a comprehensive presentation, providing a novel approach with much potential in comparative social research and regional statistics production. In my opinion, the strongest methodological developments are in the techniques of generating synthetic spatial microdata at small area levels. This book will be attractive for students, in economics, social sciences and statistics in particular. The aim of this book is to show and explain different approaches of small area estimation that are used in different research fields. The book gives an extensive theoretical and empirical overview of different microsimulation techniques and can be of relevance to researchers who want to expand their knowledges on ways to estimate small area characteristics."~International Journal of Microsimulation "The authors begin with a detailed classification tree of small area estimation techniques. The text then proceeds to review and describe these techniques. A familiarity with regression techniques and survey methods is assumed throughout. Taylor & Francis Ltd Life Events and Emotional Disorder Revisited

    1 in stock

Book SynopsisLife Events and Emotional Disorder Revisited explores the variety of events that can occur, their inherent characteristics and how they affect our lives and emotions, and in turn their impact on our mental health and wellbeing. The book focuses on current social problems nationally and internationally, showing the reach of life events research including those linked to Covid-19. It also discusses trauma experiences and how they fit in the life events scheme. To underpin the various life event dimensions identified (such as loss, danger and humiliation), the authors have developed an underlying model of human needs, jeopardised by the most damaging life events. This includes attachment, security, identity and achievement. The book brings together classic research findings with new advances in the field of life events research, culminating in a new theoretical framework of life events, including new discussions on trauma, on positive events and an online methodology forTrade ReviewGiven the great progress in genetic research it is important to consider advances in the methodologies relating to the "environment". This book describes the gold standard approach to the study of life events as precipitating factors for episodes of ill health. The Bedford Square team (of whom Antonia Bifulco, one of the authors of this book was a member) applied meticulous attention to detail and an empathetic interviewing style to obtain deep psychological understanding. The resultant model fostered the development of new approaches to treatment such as befriending, peer and "grandmother" support to provide the protective power of a confidante. CLEAR (Computerised Life Events Assessment Record) is a digital update of life events methodology. The acceptability reliability and utility of this new tool which should transform both research and treatment are described in this book. Professor Janet Treasure, OBE, Professor of Psychiatry, Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London.Beginning with a review of the LEDS, a labor-intensive interview with a unique focus on daily events and their relationship to mental disorder, Bifulco and colleague’s book updates the measure and describes a computerized version that avoids many of the pitfalls of checklists designed to replace it. A huge body of research relevant to the LEDS and related measures is reviewed, clearly written with helpful tables and diagrams. The emphasis on positive events and robustness contributing greatly to the field. While clearly useful to researchers, inclusion of cases, discussion of various therapeutic approaches and clinical implications makes the book a valuable resource for clinicians. Dr Helen Stein, Psychologist and Psychoanalyst. Retired member of the Menninger Foundation research team, Kansas, USALife Events and Emotional Disorder Revisited – revives life events research and makes it current. The book takes us on a historical journey in each section. First, back to the epidemiological roots of life events research and the well-established life events work of George Brown and Tirril Harris. It then travels on a whistle stop tour through the recent research on life adversity and role of positive life events including current reflections on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The book offers a new theoretical framework for understanding the impact of life adversity and a contemporary online measure of life stress (the CLEAR) that has widespread implications for research in this area. This book provides a sophisticated account of life events research over time and a great resource for academics and students alike. Book SynopsisThe Aesthetics of Self-Harm presents a new approach to understanding parasuicidal behaviour, based upon an examination of online communities that promote performances of self-harm in the pursuit of an idealised beauty. The book considers how online communities provide a significant level of support for self-harmers and focuses on relevant case studies to establish a new model for the comprehension of the online supportive community. To do so, Alderton explores discussions of self-harm and disordered eating on social networks. She examines aesthetic trends that contextualise harmful behavior and help people to perform feelings of sadness and vulnerability online. Alderton argues that the traditional understanding of self-violence through medical discourse is important, but that it misses vital elements of human group activity and the motivating forces of visual imagery. Covering psychiatry and psychology, rhetoric and sociology, this book provides essential reaTable of ContentsPreface 1. Book SynopsisAt a time when there is increasing need to offer psychotherapeutic approaches that accommodate clients' religious and spiritual beliefs, and acknowledge the potential for healing and growth offered by religious frameworks, this book explores psychology from an Islamic paradigm and demonstrates how Islamic understandings of human nature, the self, and the soul can inform an Islamic psychotherapy.Drawing on a qualitative, grounded theory analysis of interviews with Islamic scholars and clinicians, this unique volume distils complex religious concepts to reconcile Islamic theology with contemporary notions of psychology. Chapters offer nuanced explanations of relevant Islamic tradition and theological sources, consider how this relates to Western notions of psychotherapy and common misconceptions, and draw uniquely on first-hand data to develop a new theory of Islamic psychology. This, in turn, informs an innovative and empirically driven model of practice that translates ITrade Review"This book is both timely and meaningful as it captures the context, methodologies, and author’s reflections on the emerging field of Islamic Psychology. It is an impressive addition to the literature, and I recommend it highly for those in academia and clinical practice."-- Amber Haque, PhD, Professor of Psychology, Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, Qatar"This much anticipated book by one of the leading contemporary figures in Islamic psychology is one of the most important contributions to date on this topic. Rothman's goal of advancing an understanding of human psychology rooted in an authentic, indigenous Islamic perspective is both noble and of critical importance. His work is also a beautiful example of the continuation of the development of psychological theory and application from within the larger legacy of the Islamic intellectual tradition as well as modern psychology. To the benefit of readers, the text is imbued with insight gained from almost 20 years of clinical experience that Rothman brings to his discussion and is underpinned by his humility and sincerity, both of which come through in his writing, making this work not only scientifically rigorous, but incredibly heartfelt and accessible. This book has relevance to so many areas of inquiry and should be mandatory reading in courses on Islamic psychology and psychotherapy, courses that delve into the intersection of science, psychology and religion, or by anyone interested in this topic."-- Carrie York Al-Karam, PhD, President, Alkaram Institute, USA"This is a ground-breaking book that fills an important void in the current psychological literature and sets the ground for a much needed Islamic orientation to psychotherapy that is suited to address the psycho-spiritual issues of Muslim patients, globally. Thus far, Eurocentric models have been insufficient to meet this need, and even ‘Islamic’ adaptations of these models have served to undermine and underestimate the richness found in the Islamic intellectual tradition. This book is a demonstration of the richness of the Islamic heritage and its ability to be authentically translated into therapeutic application to address practical mental health needs of Muslim populations."-- Hooman Keshavarzi, PsyD, Executive Director, Khalil Center, USA & Canada "This book is both timely and meaningful as it captures the context, methodologies, and author’s reflections on the emerging field of Islamic Psychology. This book is a demonstration of the richness of the Islamic heritage and its ability to be authentically translated into therapeutic application to address practical mental health needs of Muslim populations."-- Hooman Keshavarzi, PsyD, Executive Director, Khalil Center, USA & Canada "Abdallah Rothman has accomplished the commendable task of providing a much-needed framework for the understanding of the theory and practice of Islamic psychology."-- Samuel Bendeck Sotillos, Spiritual Psychology And CounselingTable of ContentsAuthor’s NoteAcknowledgements Foreword by Abdal Hakim Murad1: Beyond Islamization: Re-envisioning Western Psychotherapy within an Indigenous Psychological Paradigm2: Islam and Psychology: The Development of a New FieldReflection 1: A Journey of the Soul, A Journey to Islam 3: Grounded Theory and Theology: A Methodological Approach to Constructing a Religiously Inspired Theoretical FrameworkReflection 2: A Believer and a Scholar4: An Islamic Model of the Soul: Theoretical Foundations for Islamic Psychology and PsychotherapyReflection 3: In the field: A Finite Pool of Clinicians and a Sea of Reluctant Scholars 5: The Nature and Structure of the Soul: Therapeutic Conceptualisations in Islamic PsychotherapyReflection 4: The Analytic Process: A Symphony of Voices with One Conductor 6: Stages and Development of the Soul: The Clinical Scope of Islamic Psychotherapy7: Reflections Upon a Framework for an Islamic Psychology and Psychotherapy: An Agenda for Research and PracticeReflection 5: An Unwitting Academic in a New World of Theoretical Possibility

Book SynopsisAll data are the result of human actions whether by experimentations, observations, or declarations. As such, the presumption of knowing what data are about is subject to imperfections that can affect the validity of research efforts. With calls for data-based research comes the need to assure the reliability of generated data. The reliability of converting texts into analyzable data has become a burning issue in several areas. However, this issue has been met by only a few limited, and sometimes misleading measures of the extent to which data can be trusted as surrogates of the phenomena of analytical interests. The statistic proposed by the author â Krippendorffâs Alpha â is widely used in the social sciences, not only where human judgements are involved but also where measurements are compared. The Reliability of Generating Data expands on the authorâs seminal work in content analysis and develops methods for assessing the reliability of the kind Table of ContentsHow I became interested in reliability issues. 1. Taylor & Francis Ltd Finding Hope in the Lived Experience of Psychosis

    15 in stock

Book SynopsisThis book offers first-person accounts of the experience of psychosis from the inside and the outside, through the eyes of two doctors, one of whom has experienced psychosis and both of whom have worked for decades in the field of psychiatry.Underpinned by rigorous academic analysis using an evocative duo-ethnographic approach, the book explores the cultural and subcultural influences from childhood onwards both traumatic and resilience-building that have shaped their lives. Both authors reflect on strategies they learned early in life for dealing with challenges, each managing to function at a high level while avoiding awareness of their vulnerability. They reflect on the potential dangers of using their expertise and position of power in psychiatry simply to diagnose mental illness and prescribe medication. The differences and similarities in the authors' stories provide a productive tension highlighting the complexities of this paradigm shift that is happening in psychiaTrade ReviewA big takeaway from this book is the inequitable clash of world views when a person with lived experience of mental distress enters the sanctum of mainstream psychiatry. As a psychiatric registrar Patte Randal used her lived experience to foster connection, meaning and hope while many of her colleagues were steeped in psychiatric pessimism, biological reductionism, risk management and the use of force. Patte paid a heavy price but persisted for decades and triumphed with recovery affirming approaches that, unlike much of mainstream psychiatry, honour the etymology of her profession as ‘healers of the soul’.Mary O’Hagan: Former Mental Health Commissioner; Author ‘Madness Made Me’This book is remarkable for its scope, its honesty and directness. Dr. Randal’s life covers so many different perspectives on psychosis and extreme experiences. She has built on Laing’s recognition of finding meaning and the value of human contact for people with psychosis. Through her personal adventures and academic research she has inspired others, including her co-author and interviewer Dr. Stanton, and also built a teaching resource in this complex field. Dr.Stanton describes her own journey and helps link us to other positive developments in psychiatric therapy. If life is a "gigantic cosmic jig-saw puzzle" then this inspiring book may help you find solutions.Nick Argyle (MRCPsych; FRANZCP) Psychiatrist in Australasia working with refugees: Formerly Clinical Director Auckland District Health Board."This book contains the stories of two remarkable women doctors. Their courage and commitment to all they serve, and themselves, shines out of every page. I have been privileged to work alongside them both over many years and I have witnessed their dedication to challenging the traditional practice of psychiatry to be more humanistic and healing. I have learnt more from Patte than from any professional development I have ever attended. They have both walked the walk and have been punished for not submitting to the dominant discourse. Nevertheless, they have persisted and this book is a tribute to their determination and perseverance; as is 'The Gift Box', which I believe is a valuable resource for any service that is genuinely interested in promoting growth and self-development."Debbie Antcliff (FRANZCP) Retired Psychiatrist: Formerly Clinical Director Buchanan Rehabilitation Centre; Director of Area Mental Health Services Auckland District Health Board "Finding Hope in the Lived Experience of Psychosis" provides readers with a unique perspective on paths to recovery. The authors bring out the knowledge and insight that come both from personal experience with psychosis and from professional careers as doctors working in psychiatry. Their exploration of psychosis and extreme states makes for an evocative read."Robert Whitaker author of Anatomy of an Epidemic'The beautiful story-telling stands out in this honest, rich and moving dual account of psychosis viewed from the inside and the outside. Written by two women doctors, trained in psychiatry, this unique evocative book provides a window into a deeply personal experience, and enriches the literature in this complex field.Patrick McGorry Executive Director Orygen Youth Health Research Centre and Professor of Youth Mental Health at University of Melbourne'In this lucidly written dual autobiography, two women, each of gifts and understanding, explore their personal experience of the conceptual fault line that runs through the theory and practice of psychiatry - the fault line dividing lived experience and objective clinical science, mind and soma, faith and scepticism, the numinous and the mundane, compassion and dispassion. They trace their stumbles along this line, their agonies, their triumphant successes and attendant dangers. I played a minor part in the saga of Patte - evidently not on the side of the angels - and recall the hard problems posed for her senior colleagues in doing her justice. I recommend this book to trainees and teachers in psychiatry. Let them read, and consider how they straddle the fault line.JJ Wright. Honorary Professor, Department of Psychological Medicine, University of Auckland School of Medicine. This moving and thought-provoking book is built around the autobiographical accounts of two women doctors who trained as psychiatrists - Patte Randal and Josephine Stanton - and describes their journeys through the profession and as human beings navigating the vicissitudes, challenges, and traumas of life. Crucially, one of the women, Patte, has experienced psychosis herself and through that experience has come to see it as a spiritual emergency, a view that contrasts starkly with the medical reductionist approach of many of her colleagues in mainstream psychiatry. This perspective has enabled her to develop a more human and holistic way of approaching people who are experiencing a psychotic crisis. Readers will appreciate this book’s openness and honesty. It testifies to the importance of being with and learning from people who have lived experience of mental illness and offers an uplifting, positive vision of the way that psychiatry can be practiced in the future.’Richard P Bentall, Professor of Psychology; Author of ‘Madness Explained: Psychosis and Human Nature‘ and ‘Doctoring the Mind: Why Psychiatric Treatments Fail’Table of ContentsPart 1 Becoming Ourselves: Patte’s Story (1951-1980, birth to 29); 1: Trust and Betrayal: The Divided Self; 2: Medical School – Skeletons, Cadavers, Gray’s Anatomy and Desensitisation; 3: An Extreme State and a Sense of Pathway; 4: Research and Metaphor: Medical Nemesis; 5: Completing Medical School – Examining Reflexes; Josephine’s Story (1954 – 1983, birth to 29); 6: Autonomy, Invulnerability, and a Commitment to Service; 7: Losing Sight of Science and Walking Away From Love; 8: Completing Medical School. Book SynopsisCollaborative Ethnographic Working in Mental Health seeks to chart a new direction for research into mental healthcare, with the aim of creating the conditions for more productive interdisciplinary dialogue. People involved in mental health often fail to recognise how they are described by researchers from the humanities and social sciences, which inhibits productive collaboration. This book seeks to address this problem, by including clinicians and patients in the research process and by shifting attention away from power and knowledge and towards the organisational context. It explores how clinical thinking and behaviour, illness experience, and clinical relationships are all shaped by the bureaucratic context. In particular, it examines tensions between what we want from mental healthcare and how accountable bureaucracies actually work, and proposes that mental healthcare research should not just evaluate new interventions but should investigate new ways of organiTrade Review"Each chapter has a clear message and offers conceptual insight unmasked by anthropologists’ usual convoluted prose. The focus on bureaucracy in practice, and its internal effects, has wide implications for clinical research, opening the lid on that which is neglected in usual intervention-focused studies. In this sense, the book is a major cross-disciplinary bridge-building contribution. Indeed, I think the book makes clear in a way that few others have, why ethnographic research is important to getting to the heart of contemporary dilemmas in psychiatric care; especially by taking seriously the everyday experience and representational practices of patients and staff. The book avoids polarising debate around psychiatry, and taking a fresh viewpoint provides a common platform of shared concern about real challenges." -- David Mosse, Professor of Social Anthropology, SOAS, University of London, UK"Dr Armstrong’s incisive analysis of the mental health system challenges complacent and particularised explanations and presents a mature and systemic account of why mental health systems continue to struggle – harm – fail. Sharing his own lived experience of recovery and evolving agency, we see the demise of well-intentioned and highly trained clinicians to serve the structural and bureaucratic agency of the institution, be that the state, the hospital, the prison and criminal justice system. The roots of SEM are in the social sciences. In writing this textbook, the authors look to make SEM accessible to a wider audience of researchers across many disciplines, addressing issues unique to health and medicine. SEM is often used in practice to model and test hypothesized causal relationships among observed and latent (unobserved) variables, including in analysis across time and groups. It can be viewed as the merging of a conceptual model, path diagram, confirmatory factor analysis, and path analysis. In this textbook the authors also discuss techniques, such as mixture modeling, that expand the capacity of SEM using a combination of both continuous and categorical latent variables. What Works with Children, Adolescents, and Adults? offers a review of the evideTrade Review"In recent years there has been increasing demand to move towards a clinical practice that is informed by sound research evidence and inevitably this has meant that there has also been a huge increase in the number of publications telling us what the research evidence actually says. To have a useful impact in such a crowded field is not easy but I have little doubt that What Works with Children, Adolescents, and Adults will be one of the books that people will really value reading. As in his previous publications Alan Carr draws on his impressive knowledge of the field and his ability to provide a very accessible and readable text. It is a book that will be useful both for the novice to this area providing a good overview and explanation of basic concepts as well as for the more expert reader for whom it will provide an excellent resource of up-to-date research evidence. An excellent book which I highly recommend." - Ivan Eisler, Reader in Family Psychology and Family Therapy, Kings College, Institute of Psychiatry, London, UK"This book offers a unique and comprehensive up-to-date review of the research into the effectiveness of psychotherapy and psychological interventions with children, adolescents, adults, people in later life, and people with intellectual and pervasive developmental disabilities. Thanks to Alan Carr who has done an admirable job, the book presents a helpful guide to mental health professionals who aim to provide evidence based interventions. I highly recommend this book as a valuable source of information for students, clinicians, and researchers in clinical psychology and psychiatry." - Anegen Trillingsgaard, Department of Psychology University of Aarhus, Denmark "What Works is an outstanding achievement. Professor Carr has effectively translated psychotherapy research findings into principles for clinical practice and public policy. This wide-ranging review is the first to examine treatment outcomes in children, adolescents, adults, the aged, and populations with special needs, providing conclusions with wisdom and reason. Must reading for students and professionals." - Professor Michael Lambert, Department of Psychology, Brigham Young University, USA"This book will be useful for novices to this area, providing a good overview and explanation of basic concepts, and for more expert readers seeking an excellent resource of up-to-date research evidence. Book SynopsisThe goal of this book is to present and evaluate the concept of dynamic testing. Unlike 'static' tests such as the SAT or IQ tests, dynamic testing emphasizes learning potential rather than past learning accomplishments. The book opens with a theoretical framework of abilities as forms of developing expertise. It then continues with an introduction to dynamic testing and then a capsule history of dynamic testing. The book also reviews the approaches of Feuerstein and Budoff and other diverse approaches to dynamic testing. The Drs Sternberg and Grigorenko present their own three-prong approach to dynamic testing along with two case studies using dynamic testing in their own research. The authors conclude that dynamic testing has enormous potential which has not yet been tapped.Trade Review"...a valuable book for school psychologists interested in understanding more about dynamic testing of abilities and the progress in the area in the last two decades. 15 in stock

Book SynopsisConducting Meta-Analysis Using SAS reviews the meta-analysis statistical procedure and shows the reader how to conduct one using SAS. It presents and illustrates the use of the PROC MEANS procedure in SAS to perform the data computations called for by the two most commonly used meta-analytic procedures, the Hunter & Schmidt and Glassian approaches. This book serves as both an operational guide and user's manual by describing and explaining the meta-analysis procedures and then presenting the appropriate SAS program code for computing the pertinent statistics. The practical, step-by-step instructions quickly prepare the reader to conduct a meta-analysis. Sample programs available on the Web further aid the reader in understanding the material.Intended for researchers, students, instructors, and practitioners interested in conducting a meta-analysis, the presentation of both formulas and their associated SAS program code keeps the reader and user in touch with technical aspects of the meta-analysis process. The book is also appropriate for advanced courses in meta-analysis psychology, education, management, and other applied social and health sciences departments.Trade Review"The authors have done a good job compiling a set of instructions that might encourage some researchers to successfully complete a reasonable empirical study in place of a more traditional qualitative literature review. The book presents a well-researched look at successful applications."—Journal of the American Statistical Association"...a 'must have' for a researcher or professional interested in writing his or her own program for conducting meta-analysis."—Dennis DoverspikeUniversity of AkronTable of ContentsContents: Preface. Book SynopsisThis volume focuses on and exemplifies how ethnography--a research tool devoted to looking at human interaction as a cultural process rather than individual psychology--can shed light on educational processes framed by the complex, internationalized societies in which we live today. Part I offers theoretical chapters about ethnography and examples of innovative ethnography from particular perspectives. In Part II, the emphasis is on the application of ethnographic approaches to educational settings. Each contribution not only takes the reader on a thoughtful and enlightening journey, but raises issues that are important to both educators and ethnographers, including the relationship of researcher to subject, the meaning of participant in participant observation, and ways to give voice to disenfranchised players, and on the complex ways in which all parties experience identities such as race in the modern world.Innovations in Educational Ethnography: Theory, MethodTrade Review"I heartily recommend this book and enjoyed having an opportunity to review it. I will be using it in my classes this fall."--Janice E. Jones, Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books, November 15, 2006, Vol. 51, No. 46"This book is set up and laid out very thoughtfully. Book SynopsisCategorical data are quantified as either nominal variables--distinguishing different groups, for example, based on socio-economic status, education, and political persuasion--or ordinal variables--distinguishing levels of interest, such as the preferred politician or the preferred type of punishment for committing burglary. This new book is a collection of up-to-date studies on modern categorical data analysis methods, emphasizing their application to relevant and interesting data sets. This volume concentrates on latent class analysis and item response theory. These methods use latent variables to explain the relationships among observed categorical variables. Latent class analysis yields the classification of a group of respondents according to their pattern of scores on the categorical variables. This provides insight into the mechanisms producing the data and allows the estimation of factor structures and regression models conditional on the latent class structure. Item resTrade Review"New Developments in Categorical Data Analysis for the Social and Behavioral Sciences is a collection of up-to-date studies on modern categorical data analysis methods, emphasizing their application to relevant and interesting data sets. Book SynopsisThere is a myth that people with mental disorders comply poorly with treatment. In fact, psychiatric patients are no more likely than patients in other medical specialities to go against the advice of their doctor. That said, it is easy to find instances where psychotropic medication is refused by the supposed beneficiary. The value of neuroleptic treatment in schizophrenia is now widely accepted. Failure to take such treatment is associated with relapse and relapse may endanger the patient and other people. Despite this, people with schizophrenia frequently fail to take their treatment. This study shows that one third can be expected to be non-compliant within two years of leaving a general adult psychiatry ward. It also looks at the reasons for this: the influence of drug side-effects is examined, as well as the impact of each patient''s attitude to treatment and whether or not they have stopped taking prescribed medication in the past.Table of ContentsLiterature Review.
