Jolly Learning Ltd Jolly Phonics Read and See, Pack 1: In Print
Book SynopsisRead and See books are fully decodable books for new readers. They have a very carefully controlled vocabulary and are specifically designed for children who are learning to read and write with Jolly Phonics. There is one word on each page. The children read the word, and then turn the page to see if they are correct by looking at the picture. The word is shown again in sound dots underneath the picture so that the children can learn to sound out the word after reading it. In Pack 1, the first two books use only regular words made up from the first group of letter sounds; the second two books use only regular words made up from the first and second letter- sound groups and so on, so that the number of letter sounds used in the text builds up cumulatively. Tips for teachers and parents are included within each book.

National Association for the Education of Young Children Spotlight on Young Children and Nature
Book SynopsisNature exploration is fundamental to young children’s curiosity, discovery, and sense of wonder—it supports their growth in all developmental domains. In this collection of engaging articles from NAEYC’s journal Young Children, teachers of children from infancy through age 8 will learn about using nature education to address early learning standards, to involve families and the community, and to encourage children’s appreciation of the natural world. The book offers a comprehensive resource list and a professional development guide with questions and activities to help readers reflect on current practices and incorporate new ones.Trade Review"This is one of the best early childhood books that I have ever read, and I have read a lot of them. It takes on a difficult topic about which little direct research exists and does an outstanding job of framing the discussion in ways that not only will push the practice of current teachers but will also provide a new theoretical framework for pushing a new generation of research in the field." —Sue Bredekamp, Council for Professional Recognition, Washington, DCTable of ContentsAcknowledgments Preface—Why “The Intentional Teacher”? 1.
