Nova Science Publishers Inc India & Malaysia: Service Sector Growth
Book SynopsisThis book examines the service sector growth of both India and Malaysia. India''s service sector has grown rapidly since the 1990s. Domestic demand for services has increased as incomes have risen, triggering the expansion of industries such as banking, education and telecommunications. Exports have also increased rapidly, led by information technology and business process outsourcing (IT-BPO). India''s ability to offer low-cost, high quality IT-BPO services has made it a world leader in this industry. The growing global competitiveness of Malaysia''s service sector is reflected in steady growth in trade volumes. Malaysia''s cross-border trade in services increased at an average annual rate of 15 percent to $60.6 billion from 2004 through 2008, accounting for 13 percent of total Malaysian cross-border trade and about 1 percent of global services trade in 2008.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Tunisia & Egypt: Unrest & Revolution
Book SynopsisThis book explores the political transitions and revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt. In January 2011, Tunisia''s President Ben Ali fled the country for Saudi Arabia following weeks of mounting anti-government protests. Tunisia''s mass popular uprising, appears to have added momentum to anti-government and pro-reform sentiment in other countries across the region, and some policy makers view Tunisia as an important "test-case" for democratic transitions elsewhere in the Middle East. President Hosni Mubarak resigned from the presidency after 29 years in power. For 18 days, a popular peaceful uprising spread across Egypt and ultimately forced Mubarak to cede power to the military. How Egypt transitions to a more democratic system in the months ahead will have major implications for U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and for other countries in the region ruled by monarchs and dictators.

Progressive Press Derision Points -- Clown Prince Bush the W: The
Book SynopsisDubya still likes to call himself "The Decider." But a lot was decided for him. This imaginative memoir reveals the real Bush from his youth. He was a hard-drinking, good-natured lout -- and the last person who''d run for high office. Bush was a spoiled rich brat. From adolescent drunk he graduated to prankster frat boy at an Ivy League. His famous father got him out of the draft. He got elected to the highest office in the world. Impressive resumé. Stranger than fiction! By the Maine reporter who "busted" W for drunk driving. The biography covers the juvenile career of Geo. W. Bush, his rowdy teenage behavior and drinking habits. His hijinks at Yale and Harvard. Dodging the draft with a little help from Congressman "Poppy" Bush. Inside the Bush Family; mano a mano over an affair his father is having. W''s DUI arrest. Eligible bachelor W gets engaged to a nice girl -- so as to be more eligible for a run for Congress. He loses the race but marries Laura Welch anyway. W will be assisted again to rise to high office. Bush comes across as a devil-may-care, insolent youth, with a rude nickname for everyone, always ready to get into mischief, or into a case of liquor, to relieve his boredom. This amusing portrait of a oaf''s progress is hardly flattering, but is not as unsympathetic as much of his press. An ordinary kid born into a strange family, "Dubya" never was interested in politics. He had to play his part to pay his family dues. This may well explain why Bush as President just did not seem to care to keep up the pretences that the world expects from its leaders. Indeed, we see G W Bush here as an anti-hero rather than a leader. Yet the author does not dwell on such theories. This is a hilarious book rather than a serious one, in keeping with the lightweight personality of its subject. Author Ted Cohen is the Kennebunkport reporter who uncovered the story of Dubya''s DUI conviction during the 2000 presidential campaign. That the press did not deem to pick up on it may have swung that close election.

Progressive Press Just Too Weird: Bishop Romney & the Mormon
Book SynopsisPresidential candidate Mitt Romney''s Mormon tradition is revealed as no real religion but a cult invented by a charlatan, a disguise for a subversive ideology opposing all that is best in the American tradition. The British recruited Mormon leaders into their 19th century plot to break up the US, leading to the cult''s strategic occupation of Utah territory. Mormonism has never abandoned its secrecy and its enmity to America. Mitt Romney is the hoped-for figure who will fulfil Mormon prophecy and take over the United States. This book provides warning insights into a possible Romney presidency by exploring over 182 years of Latter-day Saints tradition. As Romney is a notorious liar and flip-flopper, it is useless to examine his political positions at any given moment. He attempts to pose as an ultra-patriot, but his family considered the barbaric Mormon practice of polygamy more important than loyalty to the United States. Romney spent years attempting to recruit for the cult, in which black Americans were regarded as inferior. Although Romney demands an aggressive foreign policy, nobody in his family every served this country in uniform -- although at least one ancestor fought against the Union in the attempted 1857 Mormon secession of Utah. As president, Romney would rely on and build up the Mormon Mafia in the intelligence community. He might try to carry out Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith''s apocalyptic White Horse Prophecy, which calls for a Mormon take-over of the United States, followed by a campaign to conquer the world for their theocracy. Every voter needs to read this book.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Population Migration & Asia: Theories & Practice
Book SynopsisMigration has become a heterogeneous phenomenon today, with the emergence of migration lying in the quest of human beings to obtain a better life. However, this is not the sole factor for migration because some migrate for sheer survival while others migrate to improve their quality of life or search for fortune. The dominant explanatory model used in the study of migration has been Ravenstein''s fundamental model. This book presents and discusses a number of such models which present information on the history of human mobility.

Nova Science Publishers Inc War: An Introduction to Theories & Research on
Book SynopsisMany students have come to the study of war and peace from a background heavily influenced by media exposure and political commitment. Some tend to see rebellion against autocratic rule mainly in terms of political ideals and the struggle for justice. The academic study of civil war, on the other hand, in recent years has focused more on the opportunity factors, even claiming that the greed of rebel leaders can play an important role in driving an insurrection. Discovering this, some students have become disillusioned, but many have taken up the challenge to show that wars in general and civil wars in particular are also fought for more than material gain. This book offers a balanced assessment of grievance and opportunity theories, and will serve as food for thought as the readers attempt to hammer out their own projects and move the field forward.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Small Farms in the United States
Book SynopsisSmall farms account for 91 percent of all farms and 23 percent of agricultural production. There are large differences among small farms, however, because USDA statistics are based on a very broad farm definition. Most small-farm production occurs on small commercial farms with a gross cash farm income (GCFI) of at least $10,000. Most places counted as small farms, however, are much smaller than that; 60% of small farms have GCFI of less than $10,000, and 22 percent have less than $1,000. This book examines the differences between small and large farms and distinguishes between non-commercial farms and small commercial farms and their viability for the future in the United States.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Merida Initiative: U.S. Counterdrug & Anticrime
Book SynopsisIncreasing violence perpetrated by drug trafficking organisations (DTOs) and other criminal groups is threatening citizen security in Mexico. Mexican DTOs dominate the illicit drug market in the U.S. and are expanding their operations by forming partnerships with U.S. gangs. As a result, some of the drug-related violence in Mexico has spilled over into the United States. On October 22, 2007, the U.S. and Mexico announced the Merida Initiative, a proposed package of U.S. counter-drug and anticrime assistance for Mexico and Central America that would begin in 2008 and last through 2010. This book provides an overview of the funding provided for the Merida Initiative, the status of Merida implementation, and a discussion of some policy issues that Congress may consider as it oversees the Initiative.

Nova Science Publishers Inc U.S.-Mexico & Southwest Border Violence:
Book SynopsisThere has been a recent increase in the level of drug trafficking-related violence within and between the drug trafficking organisations in Mexico. This violence has generated concern among U.S. policy makers that the violence in Mexico might spill over into the United States. The most recent threat assessment indicates that the Mexican drug trafficking organisations pose the greatest drug trafficking threat to the United States, and this threat is driven partly by U.S. demand for drugs. This book is an overview of the potential spill-over violence and related issues between the U.S. and Mexico in the ongoing drug-trafficking operations on the Southwest borders.

Nova Science Publishers Inc China & Russia: Competition & Partnership
Book SynopsisSince the end of the Cold War, the improved political and economic relationship between Beijing and Moscow has affected a range of international security issues. China and Russia have expanded their bilateral economic and security co-operation. In addition, Beijing and Moscow have pursued distinct, yet parallel, policies regarding many global and regional issues. Yet, Chinese and Russian approaches to a range of significant subjects are still largely uncoordinated and at times conflict. Economic exchanges between China and Russia remain minimal compared to those found between most friendly countries, let alone allies. This book explores the prospects for a great power competition and co-operation between Russia, China and the United States in Central Asia.

This book analyses Brazil and its neighbours: Bolivia, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela''s political, economic, and social conditions, and how those conditions affect the region and relationship with the United States.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Fruit in Japan: Policies & Issues
Book SynopsisJapan is a large market for fruits and its consumers spend $10 billion per year (wholesale value) on fresh and preserved fruits. The United States, the second-largest foreign supplier of fruits to Japan, sent about $450 million in fruit exports to Japan in 2009, 10 percent of total U.S. fruit exports. Japanese government policies regarding this large market affect U.S. fruit exports and offer a point of comparison for other developed countries. Consumption of traditionally important fruits, such as citrus fruits and apples, has been declining and expenditures on fruits for consumption at home have decreased. This book examines Japan''s policies that protect and regulate its agricultural markets. Japan''s policies affect existing trade patterns and are relevant to the current round of global trade negotiations conducted by the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Nova Science Publishers Inc Foreign & Guest Workers: Immigration & Admissions
Book SynopsisSome employers maintain that they continue to need the "best and the brightest" workers, regardless of their country of birth, to remain competitive in a world-wide market and to keep their firms in the United States. While support for increasing employment-based immigration may be dampened by the high levels of unemployment, proponents argue that the ability to hire foreign workers is an essential ingredient for economic growth. This book explores the immigration and admission issues concerning foreign and guest worker programs in the United States.

The degree to which unauthorised resident aliens should be accorded certain rights and privileges as a result of their residence in the United States, along with the duties owed by such aliens given their presence, remains the subject of intense debate in Congress. This book focuses on the policy and legislative debate surrounding unauthorised aliens'' access to federal benefits.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Taiwan: Relations with China & the U.S.
Book SynopsisU.S. policy toward Taiwan is unique. Since both the Chinese governments on Taiwan and on mainland China held that they alone were China''s legitimate ruling government, U.S. diplomatic relations with Taiwan had to be severed in 1979 when the United States recognised the People''s Republic of China (PRC) government as China''s sole legitimate governments. While maintaining diplomatic relations with the PRC, the United States maintains extensive but unofficial relations with Taiwan based on the framework of the 1979 Taiwan Relations Act. U.S. interests in Taiwan include significant commercial ties, objections to PRC military threats against Taiwan, arms sales and security assurances, and support for Taiwan''s democratic development. This book examines the historical background of Taiwan; its political status, relations with China; and the implications for U.S. policy.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Canada: Background & U.S. Relations
Book SynopsisRelations between the U.S. and Canada, though generally close, have undergone changes in tenor over the past three decades. During the 1980s, the two countries generally enjoyed very good relations. The early 1990s brought new governments to Ottawa and Washington, and although Canada''s Liberal Party emphasised its determination to act independently of the U.S. when necessary, relations continued to be cordial. In early 2006, a minority Conservative government assumed power in Ottawa. This book provides an overview of Canada''s political scene, its economic conditions, and its recent security and foreign policy, focusing particularly on issues that may be relevant to U.S. policymakers. Also discussed are several bilateral issues in the political, international security, trade and environmental areas.

Nova Science Publishers Inc Russia's Military Reforms, Defense Doctrines &
Book SynopsisRussia has undertaken several largely piecemeal and halting efforts to revamp the armed forces it inherited from the Soviet Union. In 2007, near the end of then-President Vladimir Putin''s second term in office, he appointed Anatoliy Serdyukov as defense minister as part of an effort to combat corruption in the military and carry out reforms. After the August 2008 Russia-Georgia conflict revealed large-scale Russian military operational failures, the leadership became more determined to boost military capabilities. U.S. government and congressional policymakers are following the progress and goals of these reforms as they consider issues related to U.S.-Russia relations and U.S. national security interests. This book provides information about Russia''s military leadership and structure, the arms industry and effort to modernise weaponry, power projection efforts, and the military budget.
