  • Building Blocks in Paediatrics

Elsevier - Health Sciences Division Building Blocks in Paediatrics

Book SynopsisTrade Review"Everything the medical student and trainee doctor needs is here, from the basics of taking a history and examination of children and teenagers through to core specialist knowledge (such as congenital heart disease) through to ethics and prevention. Each condition is described by an expert yet in an uncomplicated and pragmatic way, providing a brief summary of the key conditions, common findings and diagnostic dilemmas, and practical management. This is as true of the most specialised chapters as for general chapters on toddlers and adolescents. Possibly the most useful I suspect will be the excellent chapters based around problems or symptoms. The series of 'The Child with' chapters on Cough/Diarrhoea/Fever/Frequent Infections and so on, will be particularly useful for GPs I imagine, and will also provide paediatricians with sensible approaches to these common clinical presentations. I was particularly gratified to see obesity, mental health and adolescent medicine given so much space, recognising the importance of each of these in modern clinical child health. I loved the many practical examples, showing the humanity and years of experience of the writers. The chapter entitled 'Frequent Flyers in the toddler years' is full of this wisdom and I can imagine many general practitioners (which I was once extremely briefly) and paediatric trainees keeping this section particularly to hand for ready reference. My favourite section was 'A toddler who just will not sleep'. I thoroughly recommend this book and believe it will give readers continuing value through their undergraduate and post-graduate years." -Professor Russell Viner CBE Former RCPCH President (2018-2021) Professor of Adolescent Health, UCL Institute of Child Health "It is a very approachable book and immensely practical. It is well laid out and well illustrated, easy to read and comprehensive enough for the GP or the general paediatrician. The book is full of experience and wisdom and will resonate hugely with GPs. It is absolute gold dust for doctors in the training grades, both in general practice and paediatrics." -David Misselbrook https://bjgplife.com/book-review-building-blocks-in-paediatrics/Table of ContentsSection 1 The core elements of paediatrics 1 The well child 2 Taking a paediatric history 3 Physical and developmental examination 4 The newborn and six week check 5 Feeding issues and failure to thrive 6 Growth and puberty 7 The obesity epidemic Section 2 Symptom-based (all chapters with editing by subspecialists in Ireland and the UK) 8 Food allergies 9 The pale child 10 Congenital heart disease 11 The child with a cough 12 Diabetes mellitus 13 Diarrhoea 14 Fever and its differentials and approach 15 Joint pains 16 Headaches 17 Frequent infections 18 Inborn errors of metabolism 19 Skin rashes 20 Seizures 21 Common surgical issues 22 Safeguarding 23 Neurodisability 24 Problems with the kidneys 25 Acute severe illness 26 Genetics and evaluation for dysmorphic features Section 3 Common conditions by age 27 Common problems in infancy 28 Frequent flyers in toddlers 29 Issues in school going children 30 Adolescence and adolescent mental health issues Section 4 Advanced 31 Laboratory interpretation 32 Illness without disease 33 Learning from clinical events 34 ECG interpretation 35 Ethics, professionalism and advocacy 36 Common neonatal problems and neonatal procedures

Taylor & Francis Ltd DanceMovement Therapy for Infants and Young

    1 in stock

Book SynopsisThis book presents dance/movement therapy as a window into the emotional and internal experience of a baby with a medical illness, within the context of treating the whole family system and using the DC 0-5 as the basis for formulating the clinical situation. This book fills a gap in the literature, bringing a variety of fields together including infant mental health, infant and child psychiatry, nonverbal-movement analysis, and the creative arts therapies. Grounded in a biopsychosocial perspective, dance/movement therapy is introduced as the main treatment modality, using nonverbal expression as a means of communication, and dance and music activities as intervention tools, to support the child and family. Vignettes from both during and years after the medical experience are presented throughout the book, taking into consideration the subtle and more obvious effects of illness on the child's later emotional, social, and behavioral development. They illustrate the expeTrade Review"Integrating their shared experiences, the authors, Miri Kiren as an infant psychiatrist and Suzi Tortora as a dance/movement therapist, have put together an extraordinarily valuable text focused on the impact of serious medical illnesses on the development of very young children. Particularly important is the emphasis throughout the book on how very young children’s development, both healthy and/or dysfunctional, is fundamentally shaped by non-verbally based physiological, sensory-motor, and affective interchanges between infants and their caregivers, interchanges that are internalized and become deeply "embodied" in the child’s psyche. Building on this fundamental aspect of early development, the authors provide detailed descriptions of the mechanisms underlying young children’s vulnerability to medical procedures and the potential immediate and long-term effects, the ways in which parents and medical personnel can help to reduce these potential traumatic effects, and rich descriptions of clinically effective non-verbal dance-movement techniques involving both child and caregiver. This richness of material will apply not only in work with seriously ill young children but with any young child who has experienced trauma. A special treat for every reader, not just those who work with the medically ill but any caregiver of very young children, will be the tables and appendices that describe the huge range of nonverbally based observations that caregivers can utilize to read young children’s physical, mental, and emotional states."Theodore Gaensbauer, MD tgaensbauer@comcast.netClinical Professor, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Aurora, Colorado."Drs. Tortora and Keren offer a very accessible volume here, contributing to the maturation of medical dance/movement therapy (DMT) with specialized applications for this population. The authors’ vivid descriptions of clinical sessions are a fabulous introduction to DMT for the reader unfamiliar with this mind-body integrated creative arts therapy discipline. Professional clinicians and graduate students will get close-up insights to how seasoned, intuitive, and expert therapists go about this sensitive, essential work on a moment-to-moment basis. Educators will appreciate how each well-referenced chapter can stand on its own. Theoretically rooted in development, trauma, embodiment, intersubjectivity, and regulation theories and research, integrated with practical models for pediatrics and DMT, the book exemplifies the interdisciplinarity that potentiates all medical DMT and indeed, all good health care delivery." Sherry Goodill, Ph.D., BC-DMT, NCC, LPC sg35@drexel.eduClinical Professor, Department of Creative Arts Therapies, College of Nursing and Health Professions, Drexel University"To begin to understand how significant illness affects infants and children is quite daunting – this work by Dr. Tortora and Dr. Keren is excellent in exploring the intersection of experience and development with the added important insight of how dance/movement therapy can be used to intervene in these situations. I’m glad to know this work now exists, strengthening our understanding of the power of dance and movement."Nirupa Raghunathan, MD raghunan@mskcc.orgDirector, Pediatric Integrative Medicine, Integrative Medicine Service Department of Medicine Memorial Sloan Kettering Center NY, NYTable of Contents1. Taylor & Francis Ltd (Sales) Transforming Residential Interventions

Book SynopsisTransforming Residential Interventions: Practical Strategies and Future Directions captures the emerging changes, exciting innovations, and creative policies and practices informing ground-breaking residential programs. Building on the successful 2014 publication Residential Interventions for Children, Adolescents, and Families, this follow-up volume provides a contemporary framework to address the needs of young people and their families, alongside practical strategies that can be implemented at the program, community, system, and policy levels. Using the Building Bridges Initiative as a foundation, the book serves as a how-to manual for making bold changes to residential interventions. The reader will learn from a range of inspired leaders who, rather than riding the wave of change, jumped in and created the wave by truly listening to and partnering with their youth, families, advocates, and staff. Chapters provide real-time practice examples and specific strategies that are transformational and consider critical areas, such as family and youth voice, choice and roles, partnerships, permanency and equity, diversity, and inclusion. These methods benefit youth with behavioral and/or emotional challenges and their families and will improve an organizationâs long-term outcomes and fiscal bottom line. This book is for oversight agencies, managed care companies, providers of service, advocates, and youth/family leaders looking for an exemplar guide to the new frontier of residential intervention. In this era of accountability and measurement, it will become a trusted companion in leading residential interventions to improved practices and outcomes.Trade Review"This new book is a must read for anyone involved with residential interventions! The focus on youth and family engagement is particularly exciting, as is the attention to current research and best practice. And, what sets this book apart, are the concrete strategies that can be implemented to take this service approach to the next level. I highly recommend this book!" – Johanna Bergan, Executive Director, Youth MOVE National, USA"Having effective strategies for maximizing relationships between residential providers and families is key to moving from principle to practice, achieving meaningful engagement and improving long-term outcomes. This publication provides real strategies and solutions and will inspire your journey to success." – Pat Hunt, Executive Director, FREDLA, USA"The authors are true champions for the well-being of children and families, never ceasing on their quest for best practices and clinical excellence. Their vision for partnership cannot be denied, with the ultimate partners being the children and families served through residential interventions. The voice of lived experience shines through like a beacon for authentic engagement, the only path forward." – Kari Sisson, Executive Director, Association of Children’s Residential Centers, USA"Our nation is waking up to the importance of our nation’s mental health system and that too many of our children and youth are facing significant behavioral and/or emotional challenges. Quality residential interventions are as important to a child or youth with behavioral and/or emotional challenges, and his/her family, as a quality cancer hospital is to a child being treated for cancer. This book is a must read for all professionals in the mental health, child welfare, juvenile justice and education fields who provide, fund and/or oversee residential interventions. The book shares practices and strategies about what it takes to ensure that all children and youth, and their families, receive the critical residential treatments and supports they need, within the context of their individual strengths and challenges, so that they can once again live together successfully in their homes and communities. This is our time!" – Susan N. Dreyfus, CEO Alliance for Strong Families and Communities and former Secretary of the Washington State Dept of Social and Health Services, USA"The work of the Building Bridges Initiative and its two publications on residential interventions for children, youth and families has revolutionized our thinking and our understanding of best practice around supporting youth with serious emotional challenges and their families. This latest volume should be mandatory reading for anyone working with, overseeing and/or funding residential programs. This book crystalizes our understanding of how to support children, youth and families, translating the latest developmental research into practical methods that can be used with residential interventions, and defines the bar by which purchasers of residential interventions and families who are considering residential should judge residential programs. We can accept nothing less than the very best developmental opportunities for the emotional health of our children and youth, and their families. Bravo for this important contribution to the field!" – Tracey Feild, former director of the Child Welfare Strategy Group of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, USA"Over the past decade, the field of child welfare has made remarkable gains in the development of creative approaches to supporting children, families, and communities. This transformation has taken the form of greater integration of mental health services, enhanced community-based interventions, the expansion and diversification of wraparound approaches, and a greater focus on prevention and early intervention across all systems. As this paradigm shift has taken place, we have also begun to use residential interventions as a short-term tool for supporting successful reunification for youth and families, and helping youth achieve permanency. This book provides invaluable insights into the monumental transformation happening in the field today and is a must-read for practitioners who are working to create comprehensive systems of care that can flexibly and responsively serve children and families." – Ken Berrick, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Seneca Family of Agencies, USA"Calling for the 2020s to be the 'Decade of Residential Practice,' this book sets a high bar for what is required to effectively integrate residential interventions into the network of community-based care and support for youth and families. With this second volume that includes practice innovations, policy approaches, planning and evaluation strategies, and first-person accounts, readers can gain practical information on how to infuse the Building Bridges framework of principles and practices into the way residential interventions are being implemented in their community. What is most apparent in this second volume, is the collective voice and purpose of the authors – families, youth, providers, policy makers, and researchers. They speak as one in their unified message of what it takes to implement quality residential interventions in a way that is affirming to all. The work of ensuring high standards and the principles and practices of the Building Bridges framework that are so eloquently laid out in this book is far from done. But this book provides tangible evidence that it can, and is, being done increasingly in communities across America. The 'Decade of Residential Practice' will require a strong commitment to continued dialogue, honest reflection, and strategic thinking. This second volume provides a roadmap for how to do just that." – Scott Bryant-Comstock, President and CEO, Children’s Mental Health Network, USA"The use of Residential Interventions in the United States is undergoing transformational change and just in time to impact how to think about the ‘best use’ of residential interventions is this new book by leaders in Systems of Care and Therapeutic Residential Interventions for youth and their families. Continuing on the ground-breaking work started by the Building Bridges Initiative, these thought leaders are challenging the field to focus on measurable outcomes for youth and families using residential interventions as a platform for recovery embedded in mature, community-based systems of care. A must read for anyone working with youth with significant behavioral health conditions and their families that may choose a period of out-of-home care." – Christopher Bellonci, M.D., DFAACAP Vice President of Policy and Practice Chief Medical Officer Judge Baker Children’s Center; Medical Director of the National Technical Assistance Center for Children’s Behavioral Health. Adjunct Associate Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine Member of the Faculty of the Harvard Medical School, USA"This book offers the most up-to-date, productive and constructive practice guidance for improving residential practices. It encourages readers to embrace change as an ongoing and evolutionary imperative given the significant impact of the service and support community on the lives of youth and families. The authors and editors all support the inevitable reality that everyone has a part to play in transforming residential interventions and advance clear direction on the roles we all must accept to ensure positive outcomes are achieved." – Jody Levison-Johnson, President & CEO, Council on Accreditation and President, Building Bridges, Inc. Book SynopsisThe fourth volume in Stahl's Case Studies series describing the approach, diagnosis, and treatment of children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders. Demonstrating core principles that allow clinicians to individualize treatment and engage families, creating the best outcomes. Essential reading for mental health professionals and students.Trade Review'This collection of case studies is the most comprehensive and clinically relevant that I have ever read. As a practicing Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, I have come face to face with many of the same clinical presentations and found Dr Strawn's review of the management thoughtful and integrative. It provides a unique framework for approaching these difficult interactions and offers a glimpse into how to combine science with the art of psychopharmacology when the evidence base is lacking. The emphasis on unique child and adolescent disorders, family dynamics and developmental pharmacology, outlines not just what the patient may need but also why. This is a must have for any Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist's library. I will certainly use it when teaching my residents and fellows and in my own practice as well.' Nicole M. Ballinger, DO, MPH, FAPA, Medical Staff President/Director, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Aurora Psychiatric Hospital, Wauwatosa, WI'Drs. Strawn and Stahl have really done it! The case-based teaching format and dozens of easy-to-read graphs and illustrations, walks clinicians of all levels through the complex world of pediatric psychopharmacology. Using easy-to-follow color-coded backgrounds and icons, the cases illustrate the evolution of each patient's treatment, the interplay of science and clinical wisdom, and the common pitfalls in the practice of pediatric psychopharmacology. In this era of rapidly advancing knowledge, this book provides a foundation rooted in the latest clinical pharmacology literature; it is a must-read for anyone practicing pediatric psychopharmacology.' • The Management of ProcedureInduced Anxiety in

Cambridge University Press The Management of ProcedureInduced Anxiety in

    1 in stock

Book SynopsisProcedure induced anxiety affects the majority of children undergoing medical intervention and has been directly linked to behaviour disturbances, psychological trauma, phobias and symptoms of PTSD. Despite this, there is currently no formal training relating to the management of procedure induced anxiety for medical personnel caring for children. A distillation of more than eighty years of research, this textbook examines the nature, prevalence and consequences of anxiety in children, alongside evidence-based strategies for its effective management. Designed as a training manual, it includes a comprehensive account of positive and negative aspects of behaviour that contribute to the successful management of anxious children. Chapters cover topics such as non-verbal and verbal communication, enhanced communication management strategies, support of children with autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning difficulties, the use of premedication and the role that families play. Essential rTrade Review'Educational and enlightening, this book is like turning a light on with regards to how children feel and behave when they get anxious and stressed. All healthcare professionals will find it incredibly useful for understanding how the children actually feel and their response to fear caused by medical intervention and how this can develop into a major phobia. This book teaches us about behaviour and shows us how we can modify what we do and how we do it to positively influence the children we care for. The techniques and strategies described made me reconsider and change how I behave around both children in a healthcare setting and my own children. This is rare in a 'textbook' and I would urge anyone working with children throughout healthcare to read and treasure it.' Andrew Klein, Consultant, Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge; Editor-in-Chief, Anaesthesia; Macintosh Professor, Royal College of Anaesthetists, London'This is one of the most interesting factual books I have read for a very long time. Richard Martin shows that the recognition by the operative team makes an enormous difference to the child's experience before, during, immediately after surgery and also in the weeks following surgery. This book is summed up beautifully by a subheading that is labelled 'we all communicate'. It demonstrates that communication is the key to both understanding and improving a child's procedure induced anxiety. This book should be part of the core curriculum for doctors or other providers in anesthesia, surgery and nursing. In years to come it will be considered a game-changer with respect to how healthcare providers view and understand procedure induced anxiety in children' Ken K. Nischal, M.D, FAAP, FRCOphth; Division Chief, Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus; Medical Director, Digital Medicine, UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh; Professor, University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine'This book offers invaluable guidance to all healthcare workers involved in the care of children who might be undergoing anxiety inducing procedures. The author draws on his extensive experience to provide readers with strategies to help reduce anxiety in children and young people, and also help them to develop coping strategies to manage their anxiety. This knowledge should form part of the core skills that everyone should have who is involved in the care of children.' The Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland'This book is unique because it presents expert clinical information, yet it does not limit the readers background to physicians or advanced practitioners, making it applicable to a broader audience.' Luis Salcedo, Doody's Notes'… The book is well organized, with sections numbered for easy reference. The information throughout is detailed and technical. While these aspects are helpful, they contribute to the book reading like an encyclopedia. Dr Martin describes interactions in a mechanistic way, and there are no cases described to pull the reader into the importance of the topic at a more personal level, … this book serves as a good reference volume.' Ten flexible modules give clinicians tools for engaging kids and their parents and implementing successful exposure and response prevention activities, as well as other cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) strategies. Each module includes vivid clinical vignettes, sample scripts, âœtips and tricksâ drawn from the authorsâ extensive experience, and numerous reproducible child and parent handouts and worksheets. Purchasers get access to a Web page where they can download and print additional copies of the reproducible materials, in color.Trade Review"McKenney, Simpson, and Stewart fill a critical gap in the field with this robust, well-crafted practitioner guide. This book distinguishes itself by its reliance on core principles of pediatric OCD treatment and its focus on how to most effectively include family members in treatment. The authors convey complex concepts with clarity and include extremely helpful downloadable materials. This book should be on the desk of every clinician who works with children with OCD."--Eric A. Storch, PhD, McIngvale Presidential Endowed Chair and Professor, Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Baylor College of Medicine "The availability of effective treatments for OCD continues to lag behind the number of people who need them. That is why this book is so important. McKenney, Simpson, and Stewart provide the information a therapist needs to competently diagnose, assess, and treat young OCD sufferers. The authors appropriately emphasize the core element of treatment--exposure and response prevention--but also offer guidance for how to promote treatment engagement, include parents effectively, overcome treatment obstacles, and much more. I highly recommend this practical and comprehensive book to any mental health professional interested in the rewarding work of treating children and adolescents with OCD."--C. Alec Pollard, PhD, Director, Center for OCD and Anxiety-Related Disorders, Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute; Professor Emeritus of Family and Community Medicine, Saint Louis University School of Medicine "This practical and easy-to-follow manual will give more therapists--and hence more children with OCD--access to the powerful techniques of CBT. The book leads therapists through a sequence of modules with an abundance of examples and scripts, along with insightful guidance on navigating common clinical challenges. The importance of partnering with both children and parents is emphasized. The reproducible handouts and worksheets help therapists implement this systematic approach and enable clients to participate actively in treatment. A valuable resource in the effort to make treatment more widely accessible!"--Aureen Pinto Wagner, PhD, Director, The Anxiety Wellness Center, Cary, North Carolina "A clinician who is invited into a family to help a child with OCD has a great responsibility not only to address the child's symptoms, but to repair the strain on the family as a whole. This book offers a comprehensive roadmap for meeting this responsibility. While providing a clear, structured protocol for doing effective treatment, the authors never lose sight of the key ingredient in maximizing results--creativity. The manual both affirms what I have been doing right in treatment of pediatric OCD and inspires me to offer families more. I will make this book required reading for anyone I train in this area."--Jon Hershfield, MFT, Director, The OCD and Anxiety Center of Greater Baltimore-Table of ContentsI. Leading experts provide a neuropsychological perspective on medical, neurological, genetic, and developmental disorders that are frequently seen in clinical practice. New to This Edition *Reflects 12 years of significant research advances and the expanding role of pediatric neuropsychologists; increased attention to evidence-based intervention throughout. *Chapters on additional medical and neurodevelopmental conditions: pediatric stroke, congenital heart disease, type 1 diabetes, and mTrade Review"The first edition of this book quickly became a staple reference, serving as an invaluable resource for anyone interested in pediatric neuropsychology. Now in its third edition, the text has been extensively updated by an outstanding group of authors who have contributed cutting-edge, in-depth reviews of the most important neurodevelopmental and medical topics in the field. The third edition is simply superb--it is a 'must have' for researchers, graduate students and instructors, interns and fellows, early-career to seasoned clinicians, and all those preparing for board exams in neuropsychology."–Michael W. Kirkwood, PhD, ABPP-CN, Director, Rehabilitation Psychology and Neuropsychology, Children’s Hospital Colorado; Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Colorado School of Medicine "In this notable third edition, the expanded group of editors have updated the literature on previously discussed disorders and added chapters on a host of other conditions, ranging from congenital heart disease to various genetic syndromes. An exciting section covers emergent and controversial conditions. Throughout the third edition, there is increased appreciation of the fact that outcomes after pediatric brain insult involve not only cognition but also other important domains, such as social awareness and participation. Pediatric Neuropsychology continues to be the 'go-to' text for graduate and postgraduate training and desktop reference for scientist-practitioners in the field of developmental and neurobehavioral disorders."–Jacobus Donders, PhD, ABPP, Chief Psychologist, Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan "Prior editions of this essential work were groundbreaking, and the third edition is equally so. It uses a biopsychosocial framework to integrate the many child, family, and environmental factors that influence the expression of biological risk and shape cognitive and behavioral outcomes across a wide range of acquired and neurodevelopmental conditions. The third edition incorporates recent information on genetic variability, neuroimaging findings, provisional disorders, and other cutting-edge topics. The book's organization lends itself to teaching. Most chapters have a similar structure, allowing comparison of unique and shared phenotypic features/m-/such as executive dysfunction--across disorders. Additionally, each chapter uses a developmental lens to consider the trajectories of disorders across childhood and adolescence. This volume will undoubtedly become the primary authoritative reference for students in clinical settings, as well as for psychologists wishing to update their knowledge."–Linda Ewing-Cobbs, PhD, Harriet and Joe Foster Chair in Cognitive Neuroscience and Professor of Pediatrics, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston "The third edition of Pediatric Neuropsychology provides an excellent foundational knowledge base. This book will be a helpful core text for graduate courses and for clinical practica with pediatric patients with neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders. The chapters present nuanced portrayals of cognitive and behavioral phenotypes for specific disorders and consider biological vulnerabilities, age of onset, developmental issues, and risk and resilience factors that interact over time."–Tricia Z. King, PhD, Department of Psychology and Neuroscience Institute, Georgia State University- All of the chapters are written by notable experts in the field, and provide valuable information about each topic area and the current state of the research....Offers summaries and critiques of the state of the science for many of the common presenting areas seen in pediatric neuropsychology, written by the experts in our field, and is clearly a 'must-have' for students and seasoned practitioners alike. • Pediatric Ethics: Theory and Practice

Springer Nature Switzerland AG Pediatric Ethics: Theory and Practice

    1 in stock

Book SynopsisThis book assists health care providers to understand the specific interplay of the roles and relationships currently forming the debates in pediatric clinical ethics. It builds on the fact that, unlike adult medical ethics, pediatric ethics begins within an acutely and powerfully experienced dynamic of patient-family-state-physician relationship. The book provides a unique perspective as it interacts with established approaches as well as recent developments in pediatric ethics theory, and then explores these developments further through cases. The book first focuses on setting the stage by introducing a theoretical framework and elaborating how pediatric ethics differ from non-pediatric ethics. It approaches different theoretical frameworks in a critical manner drawing on their strengths and weaknesses. It helps the reader in developing an ability to engage in ethical reasoning and moral deliberation in order to focus on the wellbeing of the child as the main participant in the ethical deliberation, as well as to be able to identify the child’s moral claims. The second section of the book focuses on the practical application of these theoretical frameworks and discusses specific areas pertaining to decision-making. These are: the critically ill child, new and enduring ethical controversies, and social justice at large, the latter of which includes looking at the child’s place in society, access to healthcare, social determinants of health, and vaccinations. With the dynamic changes and challenges pediatric care faces across the globe, as well as the changing face of new technologies, no professional working in the field of pediatrics can afford not to take due note of this resource.Table of ContentsPart 1: Theory.- Chapter 1.
