Book SynopsisBand 2 des ersten Teils von Apostolo Zenos Drammi per musica ist der Beginn einer kritischen Ausgabe sämtlicher Werke des venezianischen Autors, erstellt auf der Basis der historischen Gesamtausgabe von Gasparo Gozzi, veröffentlicht bei Giambattista Pasquali 1744 in Venedig, unter Hinzufügung von zwei damals nicht berücksichtigten Texten. Der gewählte Titel Venezia e oltre beschreibt die frühe Phase in Zenos Schaffen, vorwiegend seine Libretti für die venezianischen Bühnen sowie einige Auftragsarbeiten für Hoftheater.Ohne Zweifel gehört Zeno zu den bedeutendsten Librettisten seiner Zeit. Er war mit seinen Werken in ganz Italien präsent und wurde schließlich für zehn Jahre als Poeta cesareo an den Wiener Hof berufen. Mit seinem bekannteren Nachfolger Pietro Metastasio spielte er eine wesentliche Rolle in der Geschichte der Oper und des Oratoriums im 18. Jahrhundert.Dieser zweite Band enthält neun Werke, von Il Venceslao (1703) bis Alessandro Severo (1717), mit den folgenden Abschnitten auf Italienisch: 1) den Aufbau der Ausgabe und die Editionskriterien; 2) die Texte der Libretti mit Varianten in den Fußnoten; 3) einen Apparat mit einer Beschreibung der literarischen Quellen und einem Katalog der zeitgenössischen Druckausgaben bis 1800.

Book SynopsisThe Göttingen Handel Contributions (GHB) are published as a yearbook and are published by Laurenz Lütteken and Wolfgang Sandberger on behalf of the Göttingen Handel Society. With Oskar Hagen's Rodelinde pioneering work, opera took center stage at the first Göttingen Handel Festival in 1920. The symposium marking the centenary was therefore dedicated to the topic of opera as a business, from the interaction between aesthetic judgment and commerce, to capitalist business structures and the content implemented in the libretti, to the most expensive aspect of the opera enterprise, the singers. Volume XXIII contains all the lectures at the symposium as well as the keynote lecture by Wolfgang Sandberger, which on the occasion of the anniversary traces the continuities and breaks in the history of the festival. As always, the volume is supplemented by the bibliography on Handel literature and the communications from the Göttingen Handel Society.
