Book SynopsisThe strange, illuminative true story of Tommy Nutter, the Savile Row tailor who changed the silhouette of men’s fashion—and his rock photographer brother, David, who captured it all on film.  From an early age, there was something different about Tommy and David Nutter. Growing up in an austere apartment above a café catering to truck drivers, both boys seemed destined to lead rather humble lives in post-war London—Tommy as a civil servant, David as a darkroom technician. Yet the strength of their imagination (plus a little help from their friends) transformed them instead into unlikely protagonists of a swinging cultural revolution.   In 1969, at the age of twenty-six, Tommy opened an unusual new boutique on the “golden mile” of bespoke tailoring, Savile Row. While shocking a haughty establishment resistant to change, “Nutters of Savile Row” became an immediate sensation among the young, rich, an

Book SynopsisThe work of one of the most successful and creative contemporary designers.Trade Review"Arad’s work is loosely described as 'design'... but encompasses everything from turntables built into paving stones to the Tel Aviv Opera House in Israel. Packed with a great mixture of new photography and archive shots of his older work…an illuminating read."—Arena "Collings... uses simple, guileless questions to bring out the most important issues in design and its relationship with art. This produces a likeable, unstuffy tone... that raises issues many of us would like to see addressed, but are too afraid of appearing ignorant to ask."—Blueprint "Very nicely put together."—Grafik "Beautifully designed... Sharp, clear and clean."—Sam Jacob, Modern Painters "INNOVATIVE OPTIMIST... However unexpected the choice of Collings might seem, it works. He enters the conversation as an outsider to Arad’s world, and thus places him in a wider context than that of design... Refreshingly unpretentious... What might have been an experiment on the part of the publisher has paid off... A great resource for anyone interested in design or architecture... The sheer range of Arad’s subject matter is what is most impressive... This publication echoes [Arad’s] ways of encountering the world: unpretentious, and whimsical in places, but always compelling."—Kathy Battista, Architect’s Journal "This beautifully designed work takes the form of a long interview between Arad and Collings, an art critic, and showcases new photography by Tom Vack."—Metropolitan Home

Book SynopsisIn this tale of grit and glamour, setbacks and comebacks, business and pop culture icon Tommy Hilfiger shares his extraordinary life story for the first time. Few designers have stayed on top of changing trends the way Tommy Hilfiger has. Fewer still have left such an indelible mark on global culture. Since designing his first collection of “classics with a twist” three decades ago, Tommy Hilfiger has been synonymous with all-American style—but his destiny wasn’t always so clear. Growing up one of nine children in a working-class family in Elmira, New York, Tommy suffered from dyslexia, flunked sophomore year of high school, and found himself constantly at odds with his father. Nevertheless, this self-described dreamer had a vision and the relentless will to make it a reality. At eighteen he opened his own clothing store, parlaying his uncanny instinct for style into a budding career as a fashion designer. Through decades of triumph and turmoil, T

Book SynopsisA brand-new monograph celebrating the work of nendo, one of the most sought-after design studios working todaynendo's extensive, idiosyncratic body of work flows seamlessly across disciplines, and is executed in every medium imaginable – from paper clips to watches, shoes, chocolates, glassware, and furniture, all the way up to interior design projects and freestanding architecture. Hot on the heels of nendo's 2019 Phaidon monograph, which traced the first 13 years of the studio's prolific output, nendo 2016-2020 shows us what founder Oki Sato and his team did next – an astonishing number of projects in five years. In addition to nendo's collaborations with some of the biggest brands in design, such as Cappellini, Kartell, Flos, and Coca-Cola, nendo was named Designer of the Year by Architektur & Wohnen in 2019, was winner of the Blueprint Awards designer category in 2018, named first on the Dezeen Hot List of designers in 2016, and winner of the Elle Decor Design Awards in 2015. • Designs and Sketches for elBulli

Grub Street Publishing Designs and Sketches for elBulli

Book SynopsiselBulli was undoubtedly the most controversial and experimental 3-star Michelin restaurant in the world and Ferran Adrià – the chef who earned elBulli it's worldwide fame – has been acclaimed as the best chef in the world. Ferran and his team at elBulli were the first to employ an industrial designer as part of their creative team. Luki Huber was that industrial designer and he spent from 2002 until 2005 at elBulli working exclusively hand-in-hand with Ferran charged with inventing new ‘artifacts’ used either to prepare, cook, serve or perform Adrià’s unique culinary techniques. Luki kept all his drawings, sketches and beautiful photographs from this collaboration and they are brought together for the first time in this amazing notebook, with all the explanations of the purpose and stories behind every object. The book has a Prologue and Introduction from Ferran Adrià, and is a must for all devotees of this extraordinary chef and his restaurant. Swiss-born Huber was trained at the Lucerne School of Art and Design and at the Escola Massana in Barcelona. He has been living in Spain since 1994, and has collaborated on a regular basis with a range of innovative clients working from the product design studio he created in 1999. The results of his work with elBulli combining the rigors of gourmet cuisine and the innovations of industrial design have been exhibited in the Pompidou Centre in Paris, in the D.Day, le design d’aujourd’hui.
