Sternberg Press Some Rockin: Dan Graham Interviews
Book SynopsisA collection of Dan Graham's interviews and conversations with a wide array of individuals from various backgrounds and disciplines.Dan Graham: Some Rockin’ is a compilation of fifteen interviews (two of them previously unpublished) between Dan Graham and artist friends, architects, musicians, art critics, and curators from various parts of our world. In these interviews Graham’s intense interest in and observation of cultural phenomena such as rock music, urbanism, architecture, corporate culture, and art world politics and their historical development overlaps and interferes with the articulated interest of the interviewers in Graham’s art, sense of humor, attitude, and point of view in regard of a huge variety of topics. Two essays, besides the “Introduction,” are added to this compilation: the essay “The Museum in Evolution” by Dan Graham, and an essay by the editor, Gregor Stemmrich, on the development and far reaching implications of Graham’s art.

Sternberg Press Keren Cytter Does Not Like to Share: A One-Sided
Book SynopsisThe adventures of a French art student as she visits New York to work as an assistant for an established artist. While studying at the Fine Arts School in Paris in 2013 and having to complete an internship abroad, Mathilde Supe, a 24-year-old student, contacted Keren Cytter to be her assistant. The latter, who had just left Berlin for New York, accepted the offer. Supe embarked on a journey to New York City, where she had never set foot, barely speaking English, without a work permit, and without contacts. From this incredible adventure, she transcribed every detail of hardship and learning in a book that took the form of a logbook and followed the evolution of one young artist’s view of another established artist.Through experimental modes of storytelling and perception, Keren Cytter's work deals with social alienation, the representation of language, and the function of individuals in cultural systems. She is primarily a filmmaker, yet her work includes performances, plays, sculptures, drawings, novels, zines, children's books, and interdisciplinary festivals.Keren Cytter Does Not Like To Share is published on the occasion of Cytter's solo presentation Bad Words at the Ludwig Forum Aachen (June 25–September 25, 2022).Copublished with Ludwig Forum für International Kunst Aachen

Koc University Press Spolia Reincarnated: Afterlives of Objects,
Book SynopsisAt the cutting edge of spolia studies, the collected essays in this volume explore diverse forms and types of reuse in Anatolia over centuries through a cross-cultural lens. Gathered from the joining of disciplines archaeology, art history, and the history of architecture and landscapean exceptional array of examples is presented, including architectural elements and decoration, sculpture and statuary, space and buildings, and textiles and other objects. Most significantly, this ground-breaking work reveals how objects, materials, and spaces attained new meanings in their afterlives through various modes of reuse. The scholarly contributions published here stem from the Tenth International ANAMED Annual Symposium “Spolia Reincarnated: Second Life of Spaces, Materials, Objects in Anatolia from Antiquity to the Ottoman Period” held at Istanbul’s Koç University Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) in December 2015. This unique conference marked ANAMED’s tenth anniversary and brought together many prominent scholars and former research center fellows, including the volume’s editors.

Koc University Press The Georgian Kingdom and Georgian Art – Cultural
Book SynopsisA survey of the architecture and history of the Tao-Klarjeti region. This book, comprising the proceedings of a 2014 symposium at Koç University’s Vehbi Koç Ankara Studies Research Center, fills an important gap in the research surrounding the historical principality of Tao-Klarjeti. This political entity founded by the Georgian Bagrationis dynasty in the early ninth century covers the modern-day provinces of Artvin, Erzurum (partially), Ardahan in Turkey, and the provinces of Samtskhe-Javakheti and Ajara in Georgia. This volume explores the religious and secular buildings, decor programs, facade articulations, stone reliefs of monastic and Cathedral churches, mason builders, and donors of Tao-Klarjeti’s architecture. A particular focus is placed on recent archaeological discoveries in Şavşat Castle and the heritage of manuscripts produced in scriptoriums and literary centers of the region.Table of ContentsPreface, Filiz YenisehirliogluIntroduction, Irene Giviashvili PART 1“Tao-Klarjeti: Brief History And Surveys” by Fahriye Bayram“Two Outstanding Medieval Buildings in North-East Anatolia: Iskhani (Ishan) and Oshki (Ösk) Churches” by Prof. Dr. K. Silkworm Books / Trasvin Publications LP Buddhist Murals of Northeast Thailand:
Book SynopsisBooks on mural painting in Thailand have tended to focus on works commissioned by royalty or other elites from the centers of power. This volume is the first to examine a vibrant sub-school of painting from the rural heartland of the Northeastern Region, also known as Isan. It is a multifaceted and empathetic study of these lovely and lively paintings, and will appeal to anyone interested in the Mekong Region as well as to scholars of art history, Buddhism, and anthropology in Southeast Asia.
