Beautifully made in lovely, soft colours, the birds are filled with toy stuffing and embellished with folk-style surface embroidery in different-coloured threads. The stitches include chain, feather, fly running, blanket, French knots and satin stitch. There are also bead and sequin embellishments on some birds. The book includes pretty hand-drawn step-by-step illustrations and there are same-size templates at the back of the book for all the designs. The birds all have optional ribbon hangers for display.Trade ReviewWhether or not you make your own felt or just enjoy stitching, the twenty different birds featured in this book might appeal as characters with a folksy feel. In designing the projects the author, Corinne Lapierre, has combined her love of felt, folk embroidery and birds. The first part of the book lists the necessary materials, tools and equipment required before moving on to the basic techniques for making the birds. This is followed by instructions for the embroidery stitches used in each project. Throughout this section the author adds a series of tips to help the maker work through the different techniques smoothly. The second part of the book concentrates on the different bird projects. For each bird there is a list of the materials and equipment required followed by step-by-step instructions for making. Cutting templates are also provided at the end of the book. The author points out that the birds themselves are relatively easy to make, but their characters are defined by the colours and embroidery stitches used. The information provided throughout the book is clearly presented and well illustrated. Each fun project should be achievable for anyone with a basic knowledge of stitch and embroidery. * Journal of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers *This book is a delight from cover to cover. It starts by explaining what items are needed to complete the projects and then goes on, in simple terms, to talk about techniques from drawing templates to cutting out the felt, to embellishing with hand sewn embroidery. These stitches are clearly explained at the beginning of the book in easy to follow instructions and photos. There are even simple instructions for making birds feet. Once this has all be laid out for you, there follows 20 easy to make colourful birds which are so pleasing to the eye! I particularly like the use of sequins on the pigeon to add texture and shimmer. All of the templates needed to complete the projects are at the back of the book, these can easily be copied or traced as they are so simple. All in all, a lovely book! -- Shirley Marriott * Customer review *A great little book. Every process is clearly described, with beautiful photos and diagrams. Perfect for experienced and beginners alike. The patterns are clear and easy to follow. The birds are beautiful - I love the robin - that will be the one I will make first. All of the templates to make each bird, are at the back of the book, and they can be easily traced, or scanned so that you don't need to damage such a lovely book. -- Sue Rowland * Customer review *What a superb book, the techniques section is very informative and will certainly be a great help for me, a novice embroiderer. The illustrations are bright and clear, fantastic photography. At the back of the book you will find the templates for each of the projects. I can’t wait to make my first bird, which I think will be the peacock. -- Sandra Dennis * Customer review *Folk Embroidered Felt Birds is a beautiful book full of lovely birds to create. The techniques are clear with lots of pictures and step-by-step instructions to follow for the basic creating, then each bird has its own instructions that are easy to follow. I would recommend to anyone who wanted to have a go. Hooray - all patterns are full scale and easy to copy from the book, no upscaling, popping to the library, or giving up and leaving on the shelf. -- Helen Harries * Customer review *If you want a book to help you sew felt into beautiful birds... look no further!! The clear photographs and instructions are just so easy to follow. This book would be a lovely present and you could give the person a few felt squares, some thread and let them start creating right away!! Love it!! -- Moyra Blayney * Customer review *Received my book today the projects are lovely and more importantly achievable. I love the fact that the project is all hand stitched. My nieces and I have already picked which ones we are going to do and are off out to get our materials this afternoon. These projects are going to provide many happy sewing hours for us and some great little gifts which we plan to give away as random acts of kindness. Search Press have produced yet another fab book. -- Wendy Burt * Customer review *The square format of this beautiful book makes it feel different and inside it is filled with the enthusiasm of the author for her felt birds. There are twenty very attractive birds to make. Each of them a pleasing mix of well chosen felt colours and embroidery stitches. Techniques and stitches used are illustrated with excellent photographs and easy to follow instructions. The hand drawn illustrations add a personal touch to the book. Full size templates are included for each project. This is a book to make you smile. A clever use of simple embroidery stitches such as fly, seed, chain and French knots are used effectively to give each of the birds their individual characters. I very much liked the proud peacock, a pheasant with attitude and the trendy flamingo. Making felt birds is not my usual thing but I could be tempted by my favourite, the hen, whose comforting shape and embroidery really epitomises 'folk art'. -- Carol Winter * SEW Region Magazine (June 2019) * Time for a book review! And today’s book review is all about fun! Folk Embroidered Felt Birds is a new book packed full of – you guessed it! – folk embroidered felt birds! And they’re delightful! If you love birds (I love birds) and you like the look of folk embroidery, and you like working with felt to make three dimensional objects, then you need to add this book to your library. It’s one of those books that just makes me happy when I flip through it. Folk Embroidered Felt Birds is a project book. The projects are small, three-dimensional birds made from felt, stuffed and embroidered. The cover is the seller for me. I know, I know! Don’t judge a book by its cover and all that. But really – a flamingo AND a puffin? With those legs? And those feet? I see this book being perfect for those who like to make. The birds are perfect for whimsical ornaments and delightful gifts. What a great way to pass on a bit of cheer to a friend on a birthday – or out of the blue for no reason at all! The book features a fairly vast array of projects focusing on twenty different types of birds, which are all recognizable. From the humble robin, to the pheasant and flamingo, the parrot, the toucan, the gentle dove and the flamboyant peacock, the gangly stork, the majestic swan, the hen, the goose, the owl, the gull and goldfinch – they’re all there, waiting for you to bring them to life! Like any good project book, Folk Embroidered Felt Birds begins with a section on materials. There’s nothing too out of the ordinary here – felt (the author recommends a wool / viscose blend); embroidery floss; wire (for legs), filling, ribbon, sequins, wire tape, and other very regular stuff. From materials and tools, we move into techniques: transferring the template designs to felt, to sewing, filling, stuffing, making legs and feet, appliqué, and all the techniques necessary for creating a three dimensional bird. Every aspect of instruction is presented in very clear, step-by-step photos with text. The text is succinct quite minimal; it’s very precise and easy to follow. And of course, there’s a selection of embroidery stitch instructions with step-by-step photos as well. And then – the projects! For each project, you’ll find a list of tools and supplies required to make the bird, along with a list of the templates to use from the back of the book. The templates in the back of the book are clean line drawings of the different bird parts, that you trace and cut out for patterns. Along with the materials and templates lists, you’ll find a page of instructions that take you through constructing the bird, referring to the techniques covered at the beginning of the book. The projects in the book are all darling! And the instructions are excellent and very accessible. If you enjoy making things and you like birds, folk art, and felt, this book would be right up your alley! I’m pretty sure it will put a smile on your face! See the full review here. -- Mary Corbet * Mary Corbet's Needle n Thread *Anybody who cut their sewing teeth on felt will enjoy this book; inside it are twenty folk art style birds to make up and display. If, like me you have loved working with felt since early childhood you will probably want to dive in but if you are new to it read the first section of the book before picking up a needle. This will tell you what type of felt to use (a mix of viscose and wool sold on the author’s website) and how to work with it, do several embroidery stitches, sew up the patterns and make the wire legs and feet. When you have the basics sorted you can progress to the patterns. Each one features a page-sized photograph of the bird in a suitable setting, a list of materials, tools and templates and written instructions. These usually come with a simple diagram or two, but unless you are a total beginner you won’t have problems making them up. The first section lays it all out very clearly with staged photographs, including some excellent ones for the embroidery stitches which are so good I wish there was a whole book of them! I think the family pet could learn how to embroider with these…the birds themselves are mostly those familiar to UK residents including robin, blue tit, heron, swan, peacock, hen, goose, herring gull and owl. A few exotics are included such as a flamingo, toucan and parrot, and many are suitable for certain occasions such as Christmas (robin and dove) Easter (hen and goose) and new baby (stork). At the front is a handy double page spread showing all the birds for easy choice, and at the back are all the templates life size. No sewing machine is required for these projects, and all are ideal quick makes for somebody who knows a few basics but is not confident enough for larger projects including older children (be careful with that wire though). Anybody in more need of something easier can go to the author’s website and buy kits of some of these birds as well as lots of other creatures and Christmas decorations. Bundles of wool/viscose felt and kits are available from www.corinnelapierre.com -- Rachel Hyde * myshelf.com *Tweet, Tweet You're guranteed to love Corinne Lapierre's latest book, Folk Embroidered Felt Birds! This read contains 20 flighty friends which you can whip up an afternoon, including swans, hens, flamingos, peacocks and many more. This book also has hand-drawn step-by-step illustrations and traceable templates to make embroidering these pretty birdies fuss-free. * Sew *Corinne Lapierre's easy-to-stitch folk birds include templates for a swan, a hen, a goose, a partridge, an owl, a dove, a peacock and a flamingo among others, making this book ideal for beginners or youngsters. * The Textile Art Magazine - Embroidery *Table of ContentsIntroduction 6 Materials & tools 8 Techniques 10 Embroidery stitches 17 Projects 24 Robin 26 Blue Tit 30 Goldfinch 34 Chaffinch 36 Swan 38 Hen 42 Pigeon 46 Goose 48 Flamingo 50 Peacock 54 Owl 58 Pheasant 60 Thrush 64 Dove 66 Stork 68 Parrot 72 Heron 76 Toucan 78 Puffin 80 Seagull 84 Templates 88

Search Press Ltd RSN Essential Stitch Guides: Stumpwork: Large
Book SynopsisThe Royal School of Needlework teaches hand embroidery to the highest standard, developing techniques in new and innovative ways. Written by RSN apprentice and tutor Kate Sinton, this book contains an extensive guide to stitches and techniques, as well as guidance on the materials and equipment you need; how to design your own stumpwork embroidery; framing up; and positioning and transferring your design. Each stitch is clearly illustrated with step-by-step photography, along with expert instruction on how to form the stitch and use it in your needlework. With an introduction to the RSN and a brief history of stumpwork, together with numerous traditional and contemporary examples, this book provides an essential guide to this classic form of embroidery. Trade ReviewBeautiful artworks. Well written and illustrated. Plenty of information on what is needed to begin the art of stumpwork and how to do the stitches. Look forward to trying this method to improve my stitching skills. -- Sara Hawkins * Amazon *I have never attempted stumpwork, so receiving this book, I was reading it as a complete beginner, although I have experience in other areas of sewing. The book takes you right through everything about stumpwork, from the history right through to materials required, techniques and different stitches used. Every technique has colour pictures of each step, making it so easy to follow. Lots of good ideas for sewing your own pictures, or you could make up your own quite easily, following the book's very well written instructions for stitches and techniques. A fabulous book to have on the craft bookshelf as reference material. -- C. Owen * Amazon *Clearly written with easy to follow pictures and easy to understand, just ordered threads and looking forward to starting a project when they arrive! -- Libby O'Toole * Amazon *As an inexperienced embroiderer I hoped this book would expand my knowledge and I wasn’t disappointed. This is a 2021 reprint of a 2011 original and it’s bright and colourful presentation is engaging and informative. The initial 30 or so pages talk you through the history of the RSN, Stumpwork and the tools recommended to achieve this technique. Each of the following pages are clearly set out introducing each stitch with a text description, followed by step-by-step instructions with clear colour photographs walking you through the creation of each stitch. Personally, I would like to have the option for a spiral bound issue so that it lays flat for ease of use – however, this can easily be overcome by the use of a book stand. Whilst the book does not contain specific projects to follow and recreate, it would be possible to use this stitch guide to create a finished piece of work. I feel confident that I could use this book to begin my journey into Stumpwork. Subsquently, I have also been recommended this book by a more experienced embroiderer friend who already owns a copy, so I am confident this would be a suitable reference guide for all levels. -- Helen Todd * Amazon *This book is larger than I expected having seen previous editions of this book series before, but this reformatted version of the 2011 original has been made larger (A4) and thus much easier to read and use. It’s absolutely full of step-by-step pictures and instructions to show you how to do very basic stitches all the way up to much more developed pieces incorporating multiple different stumpwork techniques. The instructions are clearly worded and pictured in detail so that you can easily follow along. The designs are very wide-ranging in content and therefore there will be something that everyone will like. I particularly like the leaves on the cover and that technique is used again on a piece within the book to great effect. I was very surprised to see just how many different techniques were included from wired work and applique to numerous flat and raised surface stitches which can create texture in your work and a number of techniques I’ve never heard of. It really is packed with information, but it’ll be a fantastic resource to keep coming back to over time as my embroidery progresses and changes. Ultimately, it’s a very useful book packed with information, ideas and great places to get started with stumpwork or carry on if you’ve previously had a go. I’d definitely recommend it! Search Press Ltd Modern Kogin: Simple & Stylish Sashiko Embroidery
Book SynopsisDiscover the art of kogin, a style of traditional Japanese sashiko embroidery with modern appeal. Historically, kogin was used as a pattern darning technique to reinforce threadbare fabric and add warmth to the clothing worn by farmers in the villages of northern Japan. With dozens of beautiful and simple geometric patterns, kogin embroidery offers fresh inspiration and authentic technique to proponents of the decorative mending movement. Colourful photos offer step-by-step instruction for learning this simple counted thread embroidery technique. Beginners will discover how to prepare the thread and fabric, how to read kogin charts, and how to make the basic straight stitches that comprise kogin motifs. Once you’ve mastered the basics, try your hand at one of the 25 adorable and easy projects included in the book. Featuring bright and modern colour schemes, these accessories are designed for contemporary life. You’ll find an assortment of pretty brooches, barrettes and hair ties, pouches and coin purses, framed samplers, pincushions, and ornaments, plus potholders, coasters, and place mats for the home. Once you start stitching, we guarantee you won’t be able to stop!Trade ReviewAn interesting read that teaches you how to start this style of embroidery and gives some sweet little projects to get you started. Overall a great book for beginners with clear instructions and diagrams. -- Jessica Irene Morgan * Amazon *I had never heard of Kogin until I came across this book. Although this is an ancient technique the designs included in the book are bright, modern and stylish. It starts with a gallery of the items you can make and then you can skip to that section of the book, and they appear to get more complex as you go along. I am loving the button bobbles, I am thinking of making some to add to some upholstery in my bedroom, anyway I digress... The getting started section easily breaks down the tools and materials and eases you into starting wonderfully. Clear photos with concise text, I think this is perfect for a true beginner to embroidery. I think if you are familiar with cross stitch this could be a natural progression as you will be used to evenweave and linen fabrics. The charts look clear and easy to follow and the construction instructions are also concise and efficient. I do like how this book is simple and straight to the point, it would be welcoming to a beginner as it is a very user friendly book. I would have liked to learn a little more about the origins of this technique but that could be the geek in me. -- Sarah Gage * Amazon *This is a great guide to a fresh and adaptable embroidery style that is suitable for beginners and established crafters alike. Based on traditional Japanese motifs, Sashiko embroidery can take on the look of Japanese, Scandinavian, European contemporary or many other decor trends, and this book gives examples of how you can incorporate that with your choice of colour or embellishment placement. The book starts with beautifully photographed projects, and all of them are small and simple - less intimidating than many other embroidery project books! The book then goes in to materials and techniques, and as you would expect from a Search Press book there are lots of clear photographs and diagrams to help explain everything. The book finishes with diagrams, charts and explanations of how to create the projects in the front of the book, and these would be easily adaptable to other things - I plan on using some of the charts to add an extra something to some face masks I have. -- Natalia Forrest * Amazon *I am fascinated by Sashiko embroidery and pattern darning in general so this book is ideal as it develops both those ideas. There are nearly 40 small projects to work through involving a variety of finished objects. Most of these are really small, like buttons and brooches, but there are also more involved projects like purses and a handbag. The projects give no indication of time required or skill level but the very clear pictures give an indication of the complexity involved. All the projects are clearly photographed at the front of the book and the instructions to make these projects are in a separate section at the back of the book. In between these two sections there is information on the tools and materials needed to produce the items included in the book. Each project also clearly states what is needed to make that item. As an introduction to an embroidery technique I thought this was well thought out with some very interesting projects that wouldn't take too long to finish and would help you develop your skills and interest level in this type of work. If you like working small projects this is a book I would recommend. -- Chris Jones * Amazon *Kogin is a style of Japanese sashiko embroidery with a geometric appearance. Simple and timeless, its clean lines and basic elegance is sure to appeal to modern tastes. You can use it to adorn so many things too, from tiny pins to pictures. It doesn’t take long to learn this straightforward but attractive type of embroidery, and there are plenty of smaller projects here that make up quickly. A lot of them are also of practical rather than decorative use, so you can make attractive buttons, hair ties, Christmas decorations, purses, bags and pincushions. Like all the books I have seen that originated in Japan this one follows a particular layout. At the front are photographs of all the projects, followed by the instructions and patterns. This means you get to whet your appetite by looking at many pages of colourful photographs. There is a short list of tools and materials, then a useful guide on how to prepare the thread and fabric, read the charts, work the stitches and get the tension right. The projects start simply with the smallest projects such as pins and hair ties, and progress through to the larger, more complex pieces. You don’t need to be an experienced embroiderer to tackle kogin work but some knowledge of making up projects and doing things like working with button kits, purse frames and zippers is a good idea. This is a lovely book suitable for anybody with a bit of stitching experience. -- Rachel A Hyde * myshelf.com *This book is aimed at all kinds of expertise levels from beginners to long term kogin enthusiasts. I think there would be inspiration in it for sewing enthusiasts of all levels. The book is by Boutique-Sha. They have produced quite a few books with Search Press and are a craft and lifestyle publisher in Japan who have written hundreds of publications and had them translated into English. The content is great. It teaches you the skills you will need, explains the tools and techniques, and provides 25 inspiring projects you can make. The projects vary from little framed pictures to larger sewing projects like pouches and purses so there is a fab range of items to make no matter what your skill level. I imagine you would start (as I did) with a small project but return to this book again and again to make more items as your skills grow. The photography is really good quality in this book. There are lots of detailed clear photos in the hints and tips sections to explain the techniques, and the photography to show you the finished projects is really nicely set up too. The section which shows you how to make each project uses illustrations instead of photography and these are really well done too. To me the book works well because it covers such a wide variety of experience levels. A beginner could pick it up (like I did) and be really happy learning a great new skill, but an experienced person could also pick it up and find plenty of useful tips and lovely projects. This is a really great book. It has something for beginners, lots for experienced kogin lovers, small projects, big projects, it’s a really well thought out selection of skills and projects. I was a total newbie to the art of kogin and it taught me a great new skill which I think is beautiful. The projects use techniques which date back hundreds of years and make it somehow look traditional or vintage but modern too. As I said at the start, I thought the best way to review the book was to teach myself a new skill from it. So, I did. I decided to use the sample project pattern to make a piece to insert in a handbag mirror frame I had. I think it turned out really well, which is totally credit to this book. -- Jo Burgess * www.mrxstitch.com *Discover the art of kogin, a style of traditional Japanese sashiko embroidery with modern appeal. Traditionally used to repair holes in clothing, it has now been brought up to date and used as decoration. The projects and designs in Modern Kogin are divine. There are samplers, hair clips and ornaments. Each one beautiful. Whether they are given as gifts or made to adorn your home, they will add interest and colour. The instructions have diagrams, charts and templates where necessary to make each project a joy to complete. Simple and contemporary, the patterns are easy to follow. Many projects are small, so will be completed in an afternoon. The techniques can be used to make and decorate other ideas you may have. Filled with inspiring ideas, every embroiderer will love this craft. -- Tracy Shephard * Amazon *Modern Kogin is a new book from Boutique-Sha, a Japanese publisher of magazines and books on craft techniques and lifestyle, and Search Press. It introduces the Japanese embroidery technique which originated in the Edo period as a functional method of repairing and reinforcing fabrics. Kogin uses counted stitching techniques and careful placement of parallel lines to create striking geometric patterns which can be used to adorn a wide variety of objects. After a brief introduction to the technique and its history, Modern Kogin presents the projects covered in the book, from small brooches and hair ties to more complicated pieces including bags and pouches. While the items themselves are generally simple in their construction, requiring only a small amount of knowledge in order to finish the stitching into a completed object, the patterns are intricate and beautiful from the beginning although deceptively simple to stitch. Kogin embroidery may look complicated, but each piece is made up of nothing more than simple straight lines. While the work is simple, the effect is striking, especially when using bold colours against white fabric. The patterns include instructions alongside detailed explanation of how Kogin is worked, including tips and tricks to keep your stitches neat and the order in which to work them followed by step-by-step instruction for each project, including help on making up items such as bags, purses and biscornu pincushions. Modern Kogin is a perfect introduction for a beginner, providing help and assistance in completing the projects to a high standard and avoiding the pitfalls often experienced by those new to the form. -- Gemma Bridges * The SEW Region Magazine - Book Threads *Table of ContentsButterfly Brooches Square Brooches Scarf Pins Circle & Oval Brooches Geometric Patter Barrettes Button Hair Ties Memento Box Kogin Hoop Art Coffee Bean Sampler Floral Sampler Holiday Ornaments Elegant Ornaments Snowflake Pin Cushion Argyle Pin Cushion House Coasters Pot Holder Square Coasters Placemat Bookmarks Framed Brooches Classic Coin Purse Gusset Pouch Zippered Pouches Multipurpose Pouch Kogin Purse Tools & Materials Getting Started Stitching Kogin Sample Project Project Instructions

Trade ReviewCreate beautiful edgings for table linen, or simple yet intricate designs for cushion covers, lampshades, or purses. There are inspiring photos, clear instructions, stitch diagrams and charts for over 140 designs. This book is invaluable for anyone interested in exquisite openwork embroidery. * Machine Knitting Monthly *The charts are clearly drawn, and the images are very well photographed, something which is not easy to do with whitework! Suggestions for the best way to work the stitches are carefully explained. At the start of each chapter is a photograph of an item that uses the stitches in the following sections. These, too, are beautifully photographed, so well that it is almost possible to work out the details of the pattern from the photograph alone. The effects produced by the various stitches are lovely, and the ways of adapting them by altering the thread, or by the spacing of stitching, and by working the stitch in different directions, are mind-blowing in their variety. The cover boasts over 140 different stitches, but when you take account of the variations of thread and spacing, there are in fact many more. [...] As a reference book of ideas to use in your own designs, this book is a treasure for anyone interested in pulled thread work. It is certainly very welcome addition to my bookshelves - except that it will probably not be on the actual shelves much - it is far too useful to remain in its allotted place for long! -- Alison Larkin * Book Threads Magazine *This is a great book. The stitches and techniques section is so clear and easy to see what to do. The projects are modern and instructions are clear. The iron-on transfers are a great addition. Would recommend highly. -- Nicola Hazleton * Customer Review *I've been an embroiderer for a number of years but wanted to try some modern embroidery. This book contains a good range of stitches which are explained clearly with lots of photos. There are some really cute designs and once I'd chosen my first I couldn't wait to start so I substituted a few of the colours of thread with similar ones I already have. Using 6 strands of thread together is a big learning curve but I love the finished look and have already chosen design number 2. Iron-on transfers are included for each design or they can be traced. The book is written very well, taking into account both beginners and more experienced sewists. The designs are very well photographed, and the instructions are really clear and easy to follow. There is a wide variety of designs, and the techniques for woven or knitted mending are quite decorative. The only thing that seems to be missing is any tips on how to stop the material used for patching on the woven sections from fraying. Other than this minor comment, this book is very educational and enjoyable. Well worth the money. -- Jacqui Grainger * Amazon Customer Review *This book is easy to follow and full of inspiration. Search Press Ltd A-Z of Stumpwork: The Ultimate Reference and
Book SynopsisWith its beginnings in seventeenth century England, stumpwork is today making a revival. Come join us for an exciting journey into the world of raised embroidery. There are over 400 clear step-by-step photographs and instructions presented in five easy to use sections and 20 stunning designs from around the world. Each design is beautifully presented with colour photography, easy to follow instructions and full size pattern. There is expert advice on the materials and tools you need to ensure success and enjoyment, and tips and hints to help you perfect your stitches and techniques.Trade ReviewFrom Mary Corbet's Needle 'n' Thread" A-Z of Stumpwork was originally published by Country Bumpkin Publications, but, as of 2015, it has been recently re-published by Search Press, along with the rest of the A-Z needlework series. This is good news for embroiderers worldwide, because the A-Z books are some of the best embroidery reference books (and the most beautiful!), and they’re now available to a wider audience, more affordably. A-Z of Stumpwork focuses on dimensional embroidery techniques, made famous in 17th century embroidery, and enjoying a huge resurgence in popularity today. The cover above is from the new A-Z of Stumpwork published by Search Press in 2015. If you own the old version, or if you’re considering buying a used copy, the old cover looks like this: The book begins with general information about stumpwork: materials needed, tools, how to transfer the design, and so forth. Then it launches into the instructional section, which covers surface embroidery stitches (both raised and padded stitches), padding and slip techniques, wirework techniques, needlelace techniques, and beading techniques. Each technique section is filled with step-by-step color photos. Below each photo is the written explanation of the step illustrated. If you’ve wondered how to use felt as padding, wonder no more – the book shows several different ways to use felt, whether in single layers or worked up over many layers. The book instructs on ways of making separate slips – that is, embroidered pieces that are separate from the main design and then attached onto the design. Wired leaves always come to mind when I think of stumpwork, and the book demonstrates clearly how to make these detachable leaves and petals, and how to attach them to the main design. Beads are a regular part of many stumpwork designs, so there’s a thorough section on how to attach beads to your stumpwork projects. And often in stumpwork, we run across covered beads – berries or whatnot made out of thread-covered wooden beads. The book details different ways to cover these types of beads. Finally, the back of the book features over twenty beautiful stumpwork projects created by talented designers from all over the world. (Incidentally, the “Magic Mushrooms” stumpwork designabove is available for free on the Country Bumpkin website.) The designs range from tropical birds to modern flowers to scenes of Africa to Elizabethan flowers – there’s a wide variety of designs, and they’re suited for beginners to stumpwork, to intermediate (and beyond). The back of the book contains line drawings for all the designs and their elements. What can I say about this book that the book doesn’t say for itself? If you’re interested in stumpwork embroidery, then I’d say this is one of those necessary reference books that you’ll want on your bookshelf! -- Mary Corbet * Mary Corbet's Needle 'n' Thread *April 2015 Since it's 17th-century heyday, stitchers have been charmed by raised embroidery's ability to produce truly animated results, and stumpwork is enjoying a well-deserved renaissance. Lizzie Kulinski's teddy bear 'Henry' begs to be picked up and cuddled with his padded muzzle and domed tum. Jan Kerton's beaded 3D blackberries are succulent enough to lure the birds from the trees. Libby Vater's 'Cottontail' bunny's ear, worked as a detached piece, is affixed with an instruction impossible to resist: 'Gently stroke the ear to shape it.' Packed with clear step-by-step photographs and instructions and full-size trace of patterns, this is an essential guide; stumpwork beginners and experts will appreciate the careful distillation of basic and advanced techniques, styles and colourful inspiration. A welcome practicality is the 'lay-flat' binding, which enables the book to remain open for reference while you stitch. * Stitch *March 2015 This form of three-dimensional embroidery has been around since the 17th century. This book shows stitches used with over 400 step-by-step photos. Full-size patterns are included for 20 designs. You'll find out all about raised and padded stitches. Search Press Ltd Flowers in Felt & Stitch: Creating Floral
Book SynopsisPacked with colour and style, this gorgeous and inspiring new book from Scottish artist Moy Mackay delves deep into the world of felt painting. The book includes an introduction to Moy’s use of colour and texture, as well as a useful section detailing what inspires her and how she forms these initial ideas into a composition. There are 4 easy-to-follow but inspiring step-by-step projects, along with extensive galleries of Moy’s vibrant work. Unlike the broad range of her previous book, the focus here is flowers – in still life, in the landscape and as botanical portraits – and the book includes an in-depth techniques section on creating a range of different flower and leaf shapes, so that the reader can go on to produce their own unique masterpieces. "Moy's passionate use of colour and the deep texture created by felting are what draw me to her work. I also like the way that she concentrates on her surroundings for her subject matter – her work is very free."-Kaffe FassettTrade ReviewNovember 2014 Subtitled ‘Creating Floral Works Using Fleece, Fibres and Threads’. Moy Mackay’s ‘felt paintings’ are works of art. This book contains many images of her work. You can discover how to create a ‘felt painting’ with the four step-by-step projects. See the in-depth techniques used, learn what equipment is needed, be inspired and discover how to add detail with machine or hand stitching. Marvellous colourful and imaginative work. Highly recommended. * Karen Platt Yarnsandfabrics.co.uk/crafts *December 2014 Moy Mackay’s previous book ‘Art in Felt and Stitch’ (reviewed in WOW in September 2012) looked at felting a variety of subjects. In this follow-on book, flowers are the focus. From the outset, the author sets out her more unconventional approach to felting. Using felt fibres to ‘paint’ a picture, she talks of how to use these and other silks and threads to include as much detail as possible. She also uses scissors as an integral part of her process to achieve clear lines and angles. She takes us through the felting techniques from placement of fibres, wet felting, followed by needle felting and then embellishing through stitch. As a book geared towards flowers, the different flower forms are explored and felting techniques explained to achieve the shape and look of flowers as diverse as daisies, thistles and lavender. This is a particularly good section, providing enough different shapes for the reader to be able to tackle most flowers. The author’s reworking of a Victorian-style flower study is a work of art before it’s felted, and to see the project explained from start to finish puts the different stages into context. The book covers three main areas of flowers in art and adapts them to felting. In addition to the ‘Victorian Study’, there are ‘Flowers in Still Life’ and ‘Flowers in Landscape’. Each of these contains a sample project, fully illustrated with step-by-step instructions and photographs, together with a large variety of finished pieces for each section. This is a very bright and colourful book, full of beautiful felted pieces that show you how to felt flowers in a variety of artistic styles. * Workshop On The Web *February 2015 Textile artist Moy Mackay's book Art in Felt and Stitch was a huge success, and this follow-up volume delves a little deeper into her methods and inspirations, Moy's paintings are a vivid fusion of felting and stitching techniques with fine art; what really sings from these pages is the tremendous sense of energy her work contains, and this is an exuberance that extends to the reader. When you see what the author achieves with carding felt and hand stitching, you can't help but want to give these methods a try yourself. With a complete lack of any kind of pretension, Moy helps the reader construct their own works of art with ease, breaking down her techniques in a very understandable way, and encouraging experimentation. The images and illustrations are sumptuous, and the book provides a rich seam of inspiration which anybody with even a vaguely creative notion will want to follow. Whether you're looking for something different to do in between heavy quilting projects, or want to supplement your existing skill set, then you should give this book a try; its dreamlike images and good advice will stay with you. * Popular Patchwork *April 2015 Moy's 'felt paintings' blend traditional felting techniques using fleece, threads and fibres with hand and free-machine embroidery to create dynamic, tactile images. Colour guru Kaffe Fassett describes Moy's style as 'very free' with a 'passionate use of colour and deep texture'. As Kaffe says, Moy 'concentrates on her surroundings for her subject matter'. Indeed, in this especially, Moy's fine art training shines through. Flowers are not outlined and separated from their backgrounds, but interpreted as part of their environment whether in their natural habitat or in bouquet form in a still-life. Although outlines and details may be emphasised by stitch, the flowers are always completely integrated with the ground. In 'Summer Meadow', for example, suggestions of individual blooms are created using additional stitch in the foreground, diminishing subtly in size and quantity tumbling around a house at the picture's centre. The landscape is then interpreted more loosely, the horizon and skyscape melding as naturally as if real. Full-page images of Moy's jewel-like pictures are invitingly textural, encouraging further experimentation. Full instructions are given for creating both individual flower forms and landscapes. Introductory chapters cover not only basic techniques and materials but are also a guide to developing your own design style. * Stitch *Table of ContentsIntroduction 6 Materials and equipment 10 Inspiration 22 Colour 30 Adding texture and detail 36 Techniques 40 Essential flower forms 64 Leaves 82 Flower study 86 Flowers in still life 94 Flowers in the landscape 112 Index 128

Search Press Ltd Fabulous Felt: 30 Easy-to-Sew Accessories and
Book Synopsis30 easy-to-make, stylish decorations all made from felt. The book includes templates, a comprehensive techniques section, guide to embroidery stitches and beautiful hand-drawn illustrations to accompany every project. The fabulous projects include mug hugs, hanging decorations, seasonal decorations, pillows, ornaments, wall-organisers, brooches, children’s toys and much more.Trade ReviewSeptember 2016 This book, the second from Yorkshire based designer Corinne Lapierre, is packed full of 30 craft patterns sewn using felt. It is easy to think of felt being used to make decorations, but this although the book does have patterns for lots of hangers and brooches, it also contains projects for the home, such as a wall hanging organiser, a mug cosy and a cushion. I was attracted to the wide variety of designsl, and the Scandinavian influence stops the book from looking too 'cutesy'. Sometimes felt books can feel like they are aimed at children, but the choice of designs and colours prevents this, and many of the projects feel very grown up. However, it would also be an ideal present for a child, as the patterns are well written and easy to follow, plus felt is a good introduction to using a needle and thread. The beginning of the book has clear photographs with the embroidery stitches and it is this addition which really enhances the designs. There is something very satisfying about makng items from felt. With no raw edges to worry about it is easy to get lost in playing with colour, cutting and stitching, and this book will provide you with enough inspiration to keep you sewing all through the year. * Popular Patchwork *Wool felt is the medium for the quirky, cute projects in designer Lapierre’s debut collection. The book opens with several brief tutorials on stitching and embroidering felt, including information about transferring embroidery patterns from templates and a detailed guide to the basic embroidery stitches used in the projects. This is followed by three seasonally inspired groups of accessories and embellishments, as well as a final “catch-all” chapter featuring a number of nature-and-animal-themed projects. Each project features a list of tools and supplies required (including the amount of felt needed in each color) as well as step-by-step instructions for completing the project with line drawings or photographs of key points. Projects span the small and simple, such as the carefully folded rose brooch, to intricate and complex, such as the owl pillow. Everything is hand-sewn and hand-embroidered, so a sewing machine isn’t required. Some basic sewing knowledge is assumed—there’s no information about cutting pattern pieces or constructing stuffed toys—but wool felt is a forgiving material and beginners should be able to work their way through the projects. VERDICT Sewists looking for “slow-sewing” projects or hand-stitchers desiring fun projects to embellish will be drawn to Lapierre’s adorable designs. * Library Journal USA *Fabulous Felt by Corinne Lopierre is a lovely book that gives you inspiration and projects to cover all seasons! There are 10 pages of techniques and stitches so this book is good for anyone new to working with felt. There are a number of projects for Summer, Spring, Autumn and Winter and these include both Easter and Christmas decorations and even Halloween. All the templates needed for the projects are in the back of the book and only a few require photocopying at more than 100% so most can be traced directly from the book. The instructions are clear and there are some lovely photos to help guide you! Overall I'm really pleased with this book! * Gemma Cornish *With 30 projects that are very appealing, it's really nice when it has all the information we need to get started. It gives extra motivation, when everything you need is at your fingers from start to finish. It comes with a step by step guide, amazing and lovely photos, good attention to details and all the templates needed are also provided. Absolutely love it and will definitely recomend it to friends. * Ana Afonso *Still working my way through this fabulous book. I'm a totally beginner to felting and have found this book excellent for newbies! The instructions are clear yet concise to follow and the patterns included are fabulous! I've picked out my first project and slowly working my way through- can't wait for it to be finished so I can pick another! * Helen Louise *This beautifully photographed book will appeal to both kids and adults. It's full of gorgeous contemporary scandi/folk style felt projects (30 to be exact) that are suitable for beginners and more advanced crafters. Each project contains details of materials and tools required plus step by instructions that are accompanied by clear photographs or illustrations. The templates at the back of the book are easy to trace and duplicate plus they are mainly true to size with the exception of a few that need to be enlarged 200%. My girls (9,9,10) are all totally smitten with the book and love how quick many of the makes are. They have started to create the most delightful gifts for friends, teachers and themselves and all the time they are slowly learning new stitching techniques that they can apply elsewhere. #ReviewItFriday * Blue Bear Wood *This book is colourful and very well set out with makes for both novices and experienced crafters. It ranges from small brooches and decorations to larger cushions and wall hangings. The step by step instructions, patterns and photography are very clear and it is easy for children to follow too. Thirty lovely items to keep you entertained crafting throughout the year. I am now looking forward to the next book by Corinne Lapierre. * Lynn Harris *Fabulous Felt by Corinne Lapierre is a delightful book that will suit beginners and experienced crafters alike. It would make a wonderful gift for beginners to encourage them since the instructions, lists of materials and descriptions of how to make the projects are clear and concise. Patterns are included and there is a lovely range of projects to choose from. More experience crafters could adapt the projects and make them more intricate as desired as a springboard for personal creativity. Instructions include the basic skills needed to embark on the projects from scratch and together with the colour photos make the book very accessible. The projects are so inspiring and some would be suitable for family craft sessions on a wet holiday. The finished projects would be lovely as handmade personal presents if you could bear to part with them or could be given as cutout kits for crafty recipient to make up for themselves. All in all it is a delightful book that would be inspiring to purchase or receive as a present. Thanks to Corinne for the hardworking and inspiration included in it. I already have a project picked out but have also found myself just picking up the book and reading it since it is so charming to browse through too. * Dianne Barnett *I received this book as a gift. I'm not the best crafter but my daughter is very much into creating things, so I was hoping it would give me easy to sew projects we would be able to do together. I find the book very clear structured. The projects are very charming, shown with very good photography and small enough for me as a beginner to try out. I was concerned not to manage to follow the instructions but the first few pages help understand terminology and give clear guidance applique and various stitches required. The templates are also very useful. I'm very happy with the book and am looking forward to trying our first project - the butterfly and flower hanging. * Nicole Selley *Fabulous Felt is a fantastic tutorial book with beautiful full-colour photography throughout. Each page is full of information and written in an simple, easy to understand format. There are thirty patterns included but these can be easily adapted to your own ideas and imagination. She patiently explains how to do each stitch in the project in the first few pages, using excellent photos to show how they are done. I like the fact that it is sectioned into themes, e.g. Summer Garden, Spring and Summer, etc. Every project is easy to find with the contents page at the front. There is an abundance of templates at the back and only a few of them need to be enlarged - always a bonus for me! I particularly like the chicken projects and have the perfect felt ready to do this. Each project has a small section on the side, detailing what templates, tools and material is needed. I really enjoyed looking through this and will definitely be using this book for years to come. 10/10. * Kaiserin Maggs *Fantastic book, very clearly written with excellent photographs. The part showing how to do some of the stitches is great for beginners and those of us who have forgotten how to do some! There are projects for everyone, children would be able to do some of them, or help someone older to do them. there is something for everyone and all seasons in this great book * Donna Hall *This book is set out well with clear photos showing the different techniques and equipment used to create the projects, exactly what I look for when attempting something new. The templates are clearly labelled and are printed with a thick enough line to accurately trace around. The instructions are comprehensive, easy to understand and along with the photos show exactly how each project should be completed. As felt comes in such wonderful colours, it would be easy to stray from the suggested colours to come up with personalised projects. Experimenting with the template sizes would help get much more out of this book, I'm thinking of enlarging the Woodland Mobile to make bunting for my campervan and shrinking the Lavender Sardines and adding a magnet to each one to make a fishing game! * Sarah Dennis *Lovely book well written. The projects are clearly explained and easy to make with fabulous photographs to help. All the templates are at the back of the book and easy to use. All the stitches are also clearly explained making the projects a delight to make. Highly recommended. * Jen English *June 2016 We love Corinne Lapierre's style and felt kits she produces and so we're excited to learn that she hasa a second fabulous new book coming out. You'll be glad to hear we weren't disappointed. Corinnehas designed 30 brilliant new scandi-style felt creations that are suitable for both the complete beginner as well as more experienced crafters, Split into four chapters: Summer Garden, Spring & Easter, Autumn & Winter and Home and Lifestyle, there's plenty to choose from yourself, your home and love ones. * Love to Make *Comment For all the projects Lapierre recommends felting material made from a blend of wool/viscose. Apart from supplying yourself with good quality felt, you do not need to equip yourself with much more than a basic sewing kit will provide. Some projects require the use of fusible webbing, plain tissue paper and toy stuffing and it would be enhancing to purchase some special threads, plus beads, buttons etc to make results extra pleasing. The book is suitable for crafters working at all levels. Techniques are shown in close up photography and there are templates at the back of the book. With the exception of just one of two designs the designs geared for children do not include small parts. Conclusion :How lovely that author Corinne Lapierre grew up with a creative Mum who inspired her! I see a lot of craft books but I was really taken aback by the stunning, yet gloriously simplistic layout of this one. I will be very quick to recommend Lapierre and her work in the future, plus the book itself. The felt designs are pretty fabulous so the book lives up to its bold title. This book has been received very well with 100% 5 star reviews on Amazon * Debra Hall -Notcompulsory.blogspot.co.uk *Find 30 little contemporary projects suitable for complete beginners. I think the front cover just about says it all for this book. Colourful, cute, desirable and fun projects. The book is split into chapters: Summer Garden; Spring & Easter; Autumn & Winter and Home & Lifestyle. The techniques section includes the basic techniques needed and the stitches used. Even children could easily master this, under supervision. There isn’t anything to dislike. It’s full of easy yet stylish projects using bought felt, well photographed and foolproof. There are templates too, some need to be enlarged. * Karen Platt- yarnsandfabrics.co.uk *Table of ContentsIntroduction 6 Materials & equipment 8 Techniques 10 Embroidery stitches 14 SUMMER GARDEN 20 Beach Hut Bunting 22 Rose Brooches 26 Flower Brooches 30 Lavender Sardines 32 Racoon & Fox 34 Spring & EASTER 38 Hen Egg Cosies 40 Bird Hanging 42 Easter Decorations 44 Spring Hanging 48 Butterfly & Flower Hanging 50 Decorative Rabbits 52 AUTUMN & WINTER 56 Christmas Lavender Bag 58 Woodland Mobile 60 Halloween Decorations 64 Christmas Pixie 68 Scandi Houses 70 Mug Cosy 72 Heart Hanging 74 Christmas Clog & Mitten 76 Scandi Horse 78 HOME & LIFESTYLE 80 Bag Charm 82 Russian Doll 84 Sleepy Fox Brooch 88 Scandi-Style Pillow 90 Owl Pillow 94 Sleepy Fox Pillow 98 Toy Bunny 102 Wall Hanging Organiser 106 Hedgehog Pillow 110 Children’s Wall Hanging 114 Templates 116

The inside cover introducing the author is really informative and the illustrations on adjoining page are stunning. The acknowledgement pages and contents pages whet your appetite as to the awaiting projects. I love the bat on the foreword page and the clearly explained introduction. The first chapter discusses in clear details the equipment needed to undertake these beautiful craft projects. The successive chapters cover the use of different sized needles, the fabrics and frames which will be required for gold work, how to transfer a design, and include illustrations of padding your project to provide area and depth to your finished piece of work. I love the stunning dragonfly illustration on the appliqué page on 22. Mounting your work is clearly explained in easy details and the goldwork is explained with some beautiful illustrations along with order of work details. Metal threads and their categories of use are discussed with helpful notes. Goldwork techniques such as purl chippings are beautifully illustrated and stem stitch information is discussed. The section on Handmade twists is informative, and is discussed along with Pearl purl, Elizabeth twist, Broad and whipped plate. I love the embroidered butterfly in this section. The goldwork wild rose, is beautiful and the colours of the goldwork violet is stunning. The three-dimensional goldwork is outstanding, especially the Christmas rose. Silk shading threads are usefully explained on page 59, along with silk shading techniques on page 60. Silk shading and the beautiful tulip flower and gold and silk work iris is brought to life in this part of the book. Flowers and the author’s stunning use of them in her work is also discussed. Trees and their use in embroidery is then discussed, with leaves, seeds and berries being shown in intricate and detailed images to enhance your craft projects. One leaf is portrayed in many ways. Fronds and fungi help bring textures and shades to embroidery pieces and are illustrated beautifully. Butterflies, bats and dragonflies, which are the author’s favourite are clearly defined. I love the bat and can’t wait to work on this project. Seasonal projects inspired by summer, autumn and winter are brought to life by the author. -- Caroline Perraton-Waters * Customer Review *Goldwork and Silk Shading Inspired by Nature is wonderful for anyone just starting out with the goldwork technique. But the information about silk shading is absolutely priceless as well. The book starts off talking about equipment; including needles, fabrics, frames (how to dress a slate frame), and hoops and ring frames (including how to bind them). Then it goes into how to transfer a pattern, tracing, prick and pounce and trace and tack. There’s a small section about mounting your finished piece properly, by using either the herringbone technique or the lacing technique. The second section of the book focusses on goldwork, explaining in detail exactly how it’s done. The order of work, the different types of metal threads, and the techniques, including the different stitches, are all discussed in detail. It then has a few projects that are entirely goldwork. They are stunning! The third section is dedicated to silk shading. Again, going into all the details of how to work the technique. It breaks down the stitches very clearly. Then has a few projects, even going into stump work. The fourth section demonstrates goldwork and silk shading combined. Again, explaining what’s required to stitch a piece using both techniques, and breaking down the stitches. Then Hazel takes you through projects that combine both techniques. Instructions are included to stitch samplers, small flowers and leaves, trees, berries and seed, fronds, and fungi, butterflies, dragonflies and even bats! The last projects are much larger and more detailed, putting everything that’s been learned throughout the book into practice. They are so beautiful. I especially love the Robin. I highly recommend this book. If you can find a copy, you won’t be disappointed. -- Jessica Devin * Embroidery Artist *Glorious and delicate depictions of nature. I liked the layout of this book and the combination of silk shading and goldwork which lent a delicacy to the finished pieces. Diagrams, photos and instructions were clear and there were plenty of projects to follow resulting in realistic nature embroideries. This is an inspiring and informative book. -- Marilyn Ralston * Amazon Customer Review *Definitive Work on Goldwork & Silk Shading. Goldwork and silk shading together – what a winning combination! Add in the fact that they are being used to depict the beauty of the natural world and you have a gorgeous book. Sadly this was the author’s final work and has been finished with help from her friends. This is the sequel to Hazel’s definitive work Goldwork: Techniques, Projects and Pure Inspiration and contains some material in common, mostly from the section on basic working methods and materials. If you are new to either type of embroidery, this book is a good place to start as you can discover what you need to purchase and what it is all for. See the myriad of metal threads available and learn how to dress a frame and a hoop, transfer patterns and how to use each type of thread. To put this knowledge to instant use there are quite a few projects to work through, all beautiful and impressively professional looking together with a list of materials and the all-important order of work. Do note that this might be a good book for beginners to goldwork and silk shading, but it is not ideal as a primer for people who are new to any type of embroidery. These are some of the more advanced techniques and the book is squarely aimed at those with a thorough grounding in all the basics. For example, the instructions aren’t accompanied by photographs and the information on 3D work is fairly sketchy. There are some diagrams for embroidery stitches and quite a few samplers where you can practice depicting sets of popular flora and fauna. These include trees, leaves, fungi, flower shapes as well as dragonflies, butterflies and, making a nice change, bats which were a favourite of the author. There are more projects where you can practice goldwork and silk shading together to make beautiful studies of all the above, plus a section of four projects depicting the four seasons. I was pleased to see that silk shading does not have to be done using silk threads, and most of the pieces shown have been worked using the cheaper and more widely available cotton alternative. This is a beautiful and very useful book to treasure, one for the keeper shelf. -- Rachel A Hyde * Customer Review *Table of ContentsForeword 6 Introduction 7 Equipment 8 Needles 10 Fabrics 12 Frames 13 Transferring a design 18 Padding 20 Mounting your work 23 Goldwork 24 Rules for goldwork 25 Order of work 26 Metal threads 27 Basic goldwork techniques 31 Purl chippings 31 Shading with chippings 32 Fuzzy effect 32 Graded cutwork 33 Stem stitch formation 34 Purl loops 35 Couched threads 36 Twists 39 Handmade twists 40 MIlliary 41 Plunging threads 43 Pearl purl 44 Elizabethan twist 46 Kid 47 Broad, 11’s and whipped plate 48 PROJECT: Wild rose 50 PROJECT: Goldwork violet 52 Three-dimensional goldwork 55 PROJECT: Christmas rose 54 Silk shading 56 Rules for silk shading 57 Order of work 58 Silk shading threads 59 Silk shading techniques 60 Split stitch 60 Silk shading 61 PROJECT: Silk-shaded wild rose 66 PROJECT: Silk-shaded violet 68 Adding a three-dimensional element 70 PROJECT: Three-dimensional Christmas rose 70 Goldwork and silk shading combined 72 A few basic rules 72 Order of work 72 Complimentary stitches 74 PROJECT: Combined wild rose 78 PROJECT: Combined violet 80 Adding a three-dimensional element 82 PROJECT: Three-dimensional Christmas rose 82 FLOWERS 84 SAMPLER: Flowers 84 Taking a simple flower further in metal threads 94 Taking a simple flower further in stranded cotton 95 PROJECT: Gold and silkwork iris 96 TREES 99 SAMPLER: Trees 100 Small trees 104 PROJECT: Bonsai tree 106 Leaves, seeds and berries 108 SAMPLER: Leaves 108 PROJECT: One leaf, many ways 114 SAMPLER: Berry and seed 116 PROJECT: Acorns 124 Fronds and fungi 126 SAMPLER: Fronds 126 SAMPLER: Fungi 132 Butterflies, bats and beasts 138 PROJECT: Three Butterflies 138 PROJECT: 3D Goldwork and silkwork butterfly 142 PROJECT: Three Bats 144 PROJECT: Bat 146 PROJECT: Bats 148 PROJECT: Three Dragonflies 150 PROJECT: Large Dragonfly 154 Seasonal projects 156 PROJECT: Clematis Early Semi-Double Dr Ruppel 156 PROJECT: Sumer Wildlife Garden 160 PROJECT: Autumn 164 PROJECT: Robin 168 Templates 172 Glossary 192
