Der Altenberger Kreis steht für Optionen in der Ökumene, die offen in die Zukunft weisen und sich von bestehenden kirchenamtlichen Vorgaben nicht schrecken lassen. Über lange Zeit hat Johannes Brosseder dem Kreis angehört; ihm wird in der Studie mit seinem ökumenischen Engagement ein lebendiges Gedächtnis bewahrt. Das Jahr 2017 lädt zu einer Bestandsaufnahme in der Ökumene ein. Was ist erreicht worden? Was ist in Zukunft noch dringend erforderlich? Über lange Zeit war der gemeinsame Blick von Christinnen und Christen auf 2017 von der Frage bestimmt, ob es anlässlich dieses Datums überhaupt etwas zu feiern gibt, oder ob einzig die Trauer über die Folgen der Reformation gemeinsam zu beklagen sind. Beides ist wahr. Trotz der vielen offenen Fragen haben sich die Kirchen in Deutschland auf den Weg gemacht, eine Zeit der Versöhnung miteinander zu gestalten. Der Sammelband orientiert über die geplanten Vorhaben und beleuchtet deren Hintergründe. Perspektiven der Ökumene werden mit biblischen und liturgischen Bezügen eröffnet. Im Blick ist dabei nicht nur die lutherische Reformation, vielmehr kommen exemplarisch auch weitere Orte der Reformation in Europa vor allem die reformierte Tradition in den Niederlanden und in der Schweiz - zur Sprache. Das Buch ist ein Votum für mehr Ökumene gerade angesichts des Reformationsjubiläums im Jahr 2017. Konkrete Handlungsformen (beispielsweise Gemeindepartnerschaften) werden vorgestellt. Die Gemeinschaft von Taizé, deren Weg in die Ökumene erinnert wird, ist eine Quelle der Inspiration für die geistliche Ökumene der Zukunft. Versöhnung ist ein Leitwort der Ökumene und die Zeit ist nun gekommen, sie zu leben. Die Geschehnisse im Jahr 2017 können dazu wichtige Impulse geben.

Einige Akzente: Höhepunkt in den sechziger Jahren war fraglos das öffentliche Podiumsgespräch, dass Präses Beckmann und Kardinal Jaeger während des 12. Juli1965 zum Thema fëhrten: -Katholiken und Protestanten angesichts des Konzils.1973 verabschiedete die Landessynode eine erste bahnbrechende Erklärung -ëber die Zusammenarbeit der evangelischen und katholischen Kirche. (In den achtziger Jahren erarbeitete die Landessynode 1985 eine offizielle Stellungnahme zu den Lima-Erklärungen von 1982 zu Taufe, Eucharistie und Amt.) Anlässlich der Trierer Heilig-Rock-Wallfahrt 1996 kam am 26. März eine -Vereinbarung ... zur gegenseitigen Anerkennung der Taufe zustande. Auf die vatikanische Erklärung Dominus Jesus im Jahr 2000 antwortete die Rheinische Landessynode 2001 mit der Stellungnahme: -Der Weg der Evangelischen Kirche im Rheinland bleibt ökumenisch. Außerdem empfahl sie den Abschluss weiterer Gemeindepartnerschaften am Ort. (2013 wurde eine theologische Grundlegung zum ökumenischen Charakter des Reformationsfestes 2017 erarbeitet.)Dieser Dokumentationsband ist eine Fundgrube fër das ökumenische Engagement der Evangelischen Kirche im Rheinland und eine Inspiration fër ihren kënftigen ökumenischen Weg.

In the countless theological, philosophical, and political discourses that he influenced, he distinguished himself as an ''Eastern'' thinker. At first glance, this seems to contradict the ecumenical and global character of his life and work. The present study shows the person and his work as an example of how global dialogue about unity can lead to a process of imagination and thus emancipation of ones own identity.

Book SynopsisThe pentecostal openness to the presence of the Holy Spirit can be understood in terms of the analogy with the Trinitarian personhood as a mode of the individual participation in the life of the Triune God. This links the pentecostal understanding of the Holy Spirit with the koinonia-ecclesiology of the ecumenical multilateral dialogue. The current understanding of the ecumenical koinonia-ecclesiology is modelled by the life of the Trinity and formed by the sacramental participation of the church in the life of the Triune God. In this way, Pentecostalism can find its access to the eucharistic-sacramental understanding of unity of the church. Conversely, this is also enriching for the multilateral ecumenical koinonia-discourse. The participation in the koinonia with the Triune God includes not only the dimension of the eucharistic fellowship, but also the dimension of the direct personal orientation of Christians toward the presence of the Holy Spirit.

For the sake of interpreting denominational involvement and reservations in Adventism as well as beyond, the study develops a new academic approach to ecumenism based on Relational Models Theory, a comprehensive social science paradigm of interpreting human relationships. The resulting typology of ecumenical interactions and the historical case study of Adventism suggest that such a relational interpretation of ecumenical interaction sheds light on many of the unresolved issues in ecumenics -- such as divergent concepts of unity, difficulties in recognition processes, and the permanence of denominationalism.
