Search Press Ltd Kawaii: How to Draw Really Cute Animals: Draw
Book SynopsisRETURN TO PLANET CUTE!!! Kawaii: How to Draw Really Cute Animals teaches you how to draw almost 100 different creatures in an adorable manner. Don't believe seagulls and stingrays can be cute? Think again! You don't need any specialist tools or materials to start drawing cute stuff: all you need is a biro or marker pen, then you're ready to go! In her latest book, artist and illustrator Angela Nguyen starts by teaching you the essential techniques of kawaii through quick and easy exercises on the basic shapes, effects and style. From there, jump straight into drawing the myriad beasts – small and big – you can find inside the book, from household pets to the exotic animals in the seas and skies. The clear and easy-to-follow step-by-step diagrams are great for visual learners, and make following the instructions for your kawaii critters a breeze. As a brand new addition to this series, interactive pages have been included to encourage you to get drawing straight away, and practice alongside Angela’s examples. A perfect book for beginners – add cute-appeal to your furry 'n' feathered companions in no time at all! Other title in the series is the incredibly popular Kawaii: How to Draw Really Cute Stuff Trade Review'Kawaii' is Japanese for cute, and here is the sequel to Kawaii: How To Draw Really Cute Stuff. In this book you can find out how to draw all kinds of animals in a cute manner and discover how to make your drawings look this way. You only need the minimum of drawing materials to draw anything in this book and you probably already own them. You also don’t need to be an artist as it is surprisingly simple to draw in this style; far more so than in the style associated with manga. The introduction explains quickly and simply with examples how to make your drawings look cute and appealing. The rest of the book contains the projects, which are divided into where the animals are found. There are pets and common wild animals, ones found in jungles, forest/grassland, water and on the farm. Choose from favourites like cats, dogs, penguins, owls and even dinosaurs or try a more unusual creature like a red panda, stingray, platypus or armadillo. Each animal is shown in several simple steps over two pages together with a fact about it and several poses to try. Unlike the first book this one is more of a workbook as the second page of each project has a drawing to finish and colour in yourself. This is a great way of practising and creating some scenes without having to wonder what to draw. Learn the cartoon shorthand of depicting moods, movement and more – it is surprisingly easy and fun, suitable for all ages and levels of art experience and rather addictive. It is also a great way of making original and personal greetings cards or any other decorative project and like its companion volume one for the keeper shelf. -- Rachel Hyde * myshelf.com *Table of ContentsEnter Planet Cute (Introduction) Chapter One: Getting Started Chapter Two: Close to Home - Learn to draw animals that we encounter every day in our immediate surroundings and homes Chapter Three: On the Farm - Get introduced to a whole barnyard of cute critters! Chapter Four: Forests and Grassland - From the bushlands of Australia to the foothills of the Andes, these animals can be found in forests and grasslands all over the world Chapter Five: Jungle and Safari - Meet the animals that inhabit our rainforests and the wilds of sub-Saharan Africa Chapter Six: On the Water - Discover how to draw a huge variety of water-based creatures, from deep-sea fish to coastal birds and aquatic mammals Index and Credits

Book SynopsisHungry for a new drawing challenge? Well, get ready to enter planet cute! In her new collection, artist-author Angela Nguyen turns even the most mundane foods into living, breathing, adorable characters that you will want to draw yourself. As well as cute food-creature fusions such as blueberry kittens and sausage dog hotdogs, in Angela’s captivating world, sleeping cats lounge atop sushi, curl inside donuts, or peek out from pizza crusts. Including beautifully clear and straightforward step-by-step instructions and minimal text, How to Draw Really Cute Food is great for both visual learners and those interested in learning the essential techniques of kawaii. With chapters on appetizers, entrees, desserts, snacks and drinks, these inventive designs are sure to delight and amuse.Trade ReviewSuch a fantastic book! As soon as it arrived, my daughter and I sat down to have a go. It's instructions are simple and easy to understand, we had no problem creating any of these super cute foods. There are so many different designs as well as different expressions to use. We couldn't get enough of it and have created so many cute pictures. It will be a book we will use again and again. -- Jennelee Baxta * Customer review *Arrived in the post for my 12 year old daughter yesterday and she immediately pulled out the sketchbooks and started drawing. She loves it! And it's supercute! She's delighted, I'm chuffed she's off her laptop, it's win-win! -- Helen O'Niell * Customer review *If you have bought the first two titles in this series you will know that kawaii is Japanese for cute. Now you have mastered drawing animals and objects it is the turn of food to get a cute makeover! It is simpler than I realised and these books all end up on my keeper shelf together with my collection on drawing in the manga style. If you find this difficult rest assured that making things look cuter in the Japanese style is a whole lot easier. The first few pages show how to simplify your drawings and looks at what makes something look cute. Then you can start drawing with the simple, staged projects. You only need basic materials such as pencils, pens, paper etc making this an inexpensive way to make your mark. The book is divided into chapters so you can choose from depicting snacks, entrees, desserts and drinks. Main meals are incorporated into entrees for some reason. Each item takes up a double page spread and shows how you can build up a drawing, adding colour and also how to vary it. Popcorn kernels can be shown on their own or in a machine for example. Chocolate can be a bar or in fancy shapes. Helpfully each chapter starts with a page of thumbnail sketches of each item so making your choice of what to draw is easy. There aren’t any projects included but it is not hard to envisage your cute drawings looking great on anything from greetings cards to T-Shirts. I hope there will be more titles in the Draw Cute series. -- Rachel A Hyde * MyShelf.com *During the Summer holidays we were gifted a copy of Kawaii: How to Draw Really Cute Food by Angela Nguyen. I love to try new things and quite fancied trying my hand at kawaii. Have you heard of the word kawaii before? It is Japanese for ‘cute’ and covers everything from food to clothes and toys. Kawaii: How to Draw Really Cute Food I thought I would get a chance to look through this book and try out some of the projects for myself. Sadly my 9 year old took the book as soon as he saw it! My son just loves to draw and learn new things so he set himself up at the table with the book, his favourite coloured pencils and plenty of paper. The book is really well set out with step-by-step instructions and minimal text. It’s great for both visual learners and those interested in learning the essential techniques of kawaii. My son loved reading the book and was soon drawing away. Artist-author Angela Nguyen turns even the most mundane foods into living, breathing, adorable characters that you will want to draw yourself. Taschen GmbH Marvel Comics Library. Spider-Man. Vol. 2.
Book SynopsisTheir collaboration on Spider-Man couldn’t last forever—but the five-years of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s remarkable partnership lasted long enough for their character to evolve into a timeless icon and create a fandom that would last generations. TASCHEN’s second volume of Amazing Spider-Man stories collects the latter half of the duo’s magnum opus, featuring brand new arch-villains the Scorpion, Molten Man, and the Crime-Master, return engagements with Kraven the Hunter and the Green Goblin—and the three-part “Master Planner Saga” that reignited a feud with an iconic mystery villain, and left behind what many comics critics declare to be the greatest super hero story of all time. Beyond the action that faced Spider-Man—all choreographed with aplomb by the master stylist Ditko—there was also the matter of Peter Parker’s maturation during a decade of social upheaval and change. With Stan Lee’s blend of soap opera melodramatics and finger-on-the-pulse social sensitivities, Peter graduated from high school to college and started to deal with a myriad of adult struggles, mirroring the life experiences of the book’s readership. A scrawny teenager no more, Lee and Ditko would widen his network of friends and frenemies, debuting Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn, and, in a series of hilarious cameos, Mary Jane Watson—all characters that would develop into one of the deepest and most substantive supporting casts in all of comics. Also introduced is Harry’s father, Norman Osborn, the short-tempered industrialist who would later be revealed as Spider-Man’s most dreaded foe. Meanwhile, Peter’s up-and-down romance with Betty Brant would reach its culmination with both changed forever. Collected in an XXL-size volume that closely simulates the size and proportions of the original comic artboards, all individual issues have been sourced from the collection of Bob Bretall, holder of the Guinness World Record for largest comics collection. Bretall’s pedigreed collection has been photographed using TASCHEN’s sterling reproduction methods, resembling the way these comics first looked when initially published in 1965 and 1966, while also being digitally remastered using modern retouching techniques to correct problems with the era’s inexpensive, imperfect printing. A custom paper stock was exclusively developed for this series to simulate the newsprint feel and color holding of the original comics. The Marvel Comics Library has earned well-deserved raves from comic collecting diehards for combining an old school comic book reading experience with a luxurious oversized book format, winning the industry’s coveted Eisner Award for Best Publication Design. Complementing the comics is an incisive and often side-splitting essay by British TV and radio host Jonathan Ross. Accompanying his essay is a gallery of original art, photographs, rarities, and other ephemera of the era. © 2023 MARVELTrade Review“A chance for readers to own some of the most influential comics of all times in modern editions.” * Comics Beat *“TASCHEN’s Marvel Comics Library represents a sincere respect and appreciation for comics history.” * Comic Book Resources *

Book SynopsisIn The Complete Peanuts 1963-64: this volume is particularly rich in never-before-reprinted strips: Over 150 (more than one fifth of the book!) have never seen the light of day since their original appearance over 40 years ago, so this will be a trove of undiscovered treasures even for avid Peanuts collectors. These "lost" strips include Linus making a near-successful run for class president that is ultimately derailed by his religious beliefs (two words: "great" and "pumpkin"), and Snoopy getting involved with a group of politically fanatical birds. One wonders: Was it the political edge in these stories that got them consigned to oblivion for so long? Also worthy of note is an extended, never-reprinted sequence in which Snoopy gets ill and heads to the veterinarian hospital...Also in this volume: Lucy's attempts at improving her friends branches out from her increasingly well-visited nickel psychiatry booth to an educational slideshow of Charlie Brown's faults (it's so long there's an intermission!). Also, Snoopy's doghouse begins its conceptual expansion, as Schulz reveals that the dog owns a Van Gogh, and that the ceiling is so huge that Linus can paint a vast (and as it turns out unappreciated) "history of civilisation" mural on it.Trade ReviewBeautifully designed . . . Vintage Publishing The Trouble With Women
Book SynopsisCan women be geniuses? Or are their arms too short? Why did we only learn about three women at school? What were all the others doing?'Brilliantly, mordantly funny and extremely clever… There isn’t a man, woman or child who wouldn’t benefit from spending time with this.' India Knight The Trouble With Women does for girls what 1066 and All That did for boys: it reminds us of what we were taught about women in history lessons at school, which is to say, not a lot. A brilliantly witty book of cartoons, it reveals some of our greatest thinkers' baffling theories about women. We learn that even Charles Darwin, long celebrated for his open, objective scientific mind, believed that women would never achieve anything important, because of their smaller brains. Get ready to laugh, wince and rescue forgotten women from the 'dustbin of history', whilst keeping a close eye out for tell-tale 'genius hair'. You will never look at history in the same way again.Trade ReviewJacky Fleming…is brilliantly, mordantly funny and extremely clever, and these are her finest drawings yet… The book is savagely funny and wonderfully constructed, so that you start off giggling uncontrollably but then grow quieter at each successive misogynistic shocker… There isn’t a man, woman or child who wouldn’t benefit from spending time with this. -- India Knight * The Sunday Times *Fleming ably skewers the Great Men of History, not to diminish their own works but to highlight those women who were trodden underfoot… A perfect gift for all genders, ages and political persuasions but is sadly confined to the humour section rather than the place it really belongs – the school curriculum. -- Laura Sneddon * Independent on Sunday *Fleming ably skewers the Great Men of History, not to diminish their own works but to highlight those women who were trodden underfoot… A perfect gift for all genders, ages and political persuasions but is sadly confined to the humour section rather than the place it really belongs – the school curriculum. -- Laura Sneddon * Independent on Sunday *This book is an utter delight – it does something I always admire, making very serious points but doing so through the medium of humour and satire. Search Press Ltd How to Draw: Kawaii Animals: In Simple Steps
Book SynopsisKawaii is a Japanese word meaning ‘super-cute’, and it’s a trend that’s sweeping the globe. Anything can be drawn in the kawaii style, from animals, people, vegetables and flowers to food, vehicles and household items. Here, expert comic book and manga artist Yishan Li shows you how to draw amazingly adorable animals in just a few simple steps. Draw the cutest rabbit you’ve ever seen, a playful panda, koala, fox, sheep and more. There are 28 different drawings to choose from, all full of personality and bubbling over with charm. Each one is developed in 8 easy stages from a rough sketch of the basic shapes through to the finished, coloured drawing, making this book suitable for adults and children of all ages and abilities.Trade ReviewA great book for beginners! It certainly is just that. I was impressed by the simplicity of the book but with excellent results. This book would make an ideal Birthday or Christmas gift for people of all ages, providing they like drawing or animals. I am someone who really and honestly cannot draw! I mean everyone can draw in some capacity but I draw most things badly, so I jumped at the chance to use these simple steps to improve my drawing abilities. The book is so easy to follow, with 8 simple steps to the general shape of the animals. And then you are free to add your own details. They give you inspiration with one coloured in and completely detailed animal per page, so you can attempt a similar end result. The steps are easy, you need a pencil, and I would recommend a rubber, so that you can erase any lines that you don’t need when you complete the finer details. Some lines are there to build shape but not needed at the end. There are all sorts of animals, fish and birds in this book, something for everyone’s tastes. I have given this book a 5-star review. It has something for everyone, with a variety of animals, easy steps to follow and it also gives people the freedom to add their own details, as well as getting great results. -- Sabrina Hackett-Saikul * severnwishes.co.uk *Great book, ideal for beginners! This book is fantastic and easy to follow. The animals couldn’t be any cuter! I find drawing animals freehand very difficult, but this book gives easy step by step applications so that anyone can give it a go. As I’ve practised I’ve gotten better and better at them too. An ideal book for anyone looking to improve their animal drawing skills whilst making them very cute too. -- Customer Review * Amazon *Table of ContentsPlayful puppy Cute kitten Chipmunk Rabbit Chameleon Love Birds Mouse Owl Prancing pony Sheep Cow Hen and chicks Elephant and calf Sloth Honey bear Baby tiger Leaping llama Tumbling panda Raccoon Gorilla Meerkat Koalas Happy hippo Singing frogs Shark Busy beaver Snake Tortoise
