Book SynopsisHer name isn’t Cordelia, her hair isn’t black, and she has no parents. These are the tragical facts of Anne Shirley’s life until she comes to Green Gables and faces another: she’s a girl. Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert wanted a boy to help with the farm work but of all the things Anne can imagine, leaving Green Gables isn’t one of them. She’ll do anything to stay – talk less, pay more attention, control her temper. At least she’ll try to. Book 1 of the Anne of Green Gables series by L. M. Montgomery. A tale of literature’s most famous redhead and her colourful imagination. An excellent introduction to classic literature and perfect for readers aged 9+.Trade Review"I immediately fell in love with this book — and with Anne. As the girl herself, the book is positive and when I read it, it was always with joy and happy thoughts. All the adventures Anne had — in her head or not — were always amusing. Whatever happened, Anne learned a lesson and matured a little." - Sarah Coquoz, Blogger"The story is fit perfectly for a young reader and also gives much knowledge! I would absolutely recommend this book to others with young readers at home. " - Keirstin Smith, NetGalley"An amazing first introduction to classic literature. I enjoyed this book as a child and this edition with the illustrations has transported me back to my childhood - what a treat!" - Lucy Greening, NetGalley"I was smiling pretty much all the way through, I even shed some tears at a couple of moments and it just was everything I wished for and dare I say, even more" - Neonila K., NetGalley"This book is a classic for a reason! Anne was a strong female protagonist when there were fewer of them, but she is just as appealing now as when I read this as a kid. I'm sure that my students will enjoy this book, and highly recommend it!" - Janette Forman, Educator"Classic and beautifully written, this book is one of my wife’s favorites. It’s a tale of childhood and wonder...and one I would gladly share with readers, both old and young. " - Reading Lit Resources, NetGalley"If new covers and pictures will lead a new generation of readers to Anne (with an e) of Green Gables, then I am all for it...The book itself has been beloved for years, to there is no need to review the story, just to say that a new presentation of it is always welcome." - Laura Testa-Reyes, NetGalley"It is always fun revisiting this book, a favourite from childhood. Anne is such a precocious and amiable creature. It's impossible not to love her. This beautiful new edition has an updated cover that will surely appeal to young" - Allison Taylor, NetGalley"I recently discover this story and what a good one it’s this young girl is very loveable and I just want to continue reading this series to see what she will do. Very good and strong character her!!" Etienne Breton, NetGalley

Book SynopsisL. M. Montgomery, known as Maud, was born on Prince Edward Island, off the coast of Canada, in 1874. Maud's mother died when she was just a baby and so she had a rather unhappy childhood growing up in the care of her strict grandparents. She was just sixteen when she had her first poem published. As a young woman she worked as a teacher and although she didn't enjoy it much it gave her lots of time to write. Maud wrote hundred of short stories, poems and novels throughout her life but it was the hugely popular Anne of Green Gables and its sequels that made her famous. She died in 1942.Trade ReviewA super cute story about kindred spirits and one of the ultimate examples of true friendship. * Sugarscape *Within months of the book's publication Anne became a classic heroine for any little girl who has ever fretted about her looks, hungered for Art and Beauty, and pursued long words in the hope they would become her special friends * Guardian *A scrawny 13-year-old, all carrot-colored pigtails and outrageous chatter, Anne seems fated to go nowhere but back to the orphanage. Her new family, after all, ordered a boy and she was delivered by mistake. But by turning adversity to advantage with lots of spunk, Anne of Green Gables has enchanted four generations of children and their elders since the world's most widely read Canadian novel was first published in Boston in 1908 * New York Times *Montgomery's ability to incorporate such complex themes into writing that is so accessible to younger readers makes her arguably the grandmother of the YA/adult crossover novel * Guardian *Anne is a captivating heroine, a whirlwind of energy and good intentions * New Statesman *

Book SynopsisCanadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery is the author of the children's book ''Anne of Ingleside''. Toronto's McClelland and Stewart and the Frederick A. Stokes Company released it for the first time in July 1939. (New York). It is also Montgomery's last book to be published. Anne Shirley appears in 10 of these volumes. In terms of publication order, Anne of Ingleside came before Rainbow Valley. The Anne stories are also included in the short story collection of The Blythes Are Quoted, which was written in 1941/42 but wasn't released until 2009. The book's copyright in the US was extended in 1967. Anne travels to Avonlea to see Diana Wright and Anne Cordelia. She returns to the old Morgan house, now named 'Ingleside'. The book spans a period of about six years and includes adventures for each of Anne's five children as well as their aunt Mary Maria Blythe. In many of the stories, the Ingleside children are taken in by children who tell lies to seem more interesting. Gilbert has become distant from Anne, and she fears that he may no longer love her. Shirley, the third son of the Blythes, appears in the book but strangely does not receive a solo spotlight story of his own.

Book SynopsisThe beloved coming-of-age tale of a spunky heroine named Anne “with an E”, for the first time as a Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition, with a foreword by bestselling author J. Courtney Sullivan. Nominated as one of America’s best-loved novels by PBS’s The Great American Read   L. M. Montgomery’s novel Anne of Green Gables recounts the adventures of Anne Shirley, an 11-year-old orphan mistakenly sent to a pair of siblings who intended to adopt a boy to help work on their farm in Prince Edward Island. Yet Anne’s quirky personality and good-natured spirit causes the siblings to grow to love her anyway, and soon the entire town falls for the precocious little girl with bright red hair.   Cherished by both children and adults, Anne of Green Gables is a celebration of fierce individualism, and the families we create, rather than the ones we are born into. This Deluxe edition is enhanced with a Trade Review“Anne is the kind of gal we can all relate to; she screws up a lot, she has a healthy handful of frenemies, she talks back a lot and sometimes wishes she had a different life, a different name, and definitely different hair. But that's what makes [Anne of Green Gables] so perfect for when your real-world anxiety is off the charts. No matter what happens, Anne always finds the beauty in the world.” —Kerri Jarema, Bustle “Rather than dispense the message that it’s only what’s on the inside that counts, ‘Anne of Green Gables’ conveys something more nuanced, that beauty can be a pleasure, that costumes can provide succor, that the right dress can improve your life — all things that adults know to be true, sometimes, but that we try to simplify for our children.” —Willa Paskin, The New York Times Magazine
