Wydawnictwo STRATUS, Artur Juszczak Saab 37 Viggen
Book SynopsisThe Saab 37 Viggen is a Swedish single-seat, single-engine, short-medium range combat aircraft. Development work on the type was initiated at Saab in 1952 and resulting aircraft performed its first flight on 8 February 1967. Viggen entered service in 21 June 1971. It was the first canard design produced in quantity.Several distinct variants of the Viggen were produced to perform the roles of strike fighter (AJ 37), aerial reconnaissance (SF 37), maritime patrol aircraft (SH 37) and a two-seat trainer (SK 37). In the late 1970s, the all-weather fighter-interceptor aircraft JA 37 variant was introduced. In November 2005, the Viggen was retired from service by the Swedish Air Force. This book is the most comprehensive on the Viggen yet published in English, with: numerous photographs of the aircraft in service, several of which have never been published before; walkaround photographs of the preserved aircraft; illustrations from contemporary manuals; and original color artwork.Trade ReviewAs a modeller and an aircraft enthusiast I loved this book, as the Viggen is still such a distinctive shape. * Military Model Scene *

Wydawnictwo STRATUS, Artur Juszczak The Fighting Colours of Richard J. Caruana. 50th
Book SynopsisRetired from service close to a quarter century ago, the English Electric (BAC) Lightning has become a cult subject with aviation enthusiasts, especially those who, like the author, remember seeing this mighty interceptor take to the air. As its Avons roared, it rotated on take-off, snapped in the main undercarriage like a flash, and then sat on its tail to go into a vertical climb disappearing to in the deep blue above, all within a few seconds. On its introduction into service, Royal Air Force squadrons faced a leap of several generations in technology, from the cannon-armed, subsonic Hunter and Javelin to the Mach 2, missile-armed Lightning. Its major task was the defense of Britain’s airspace, while for many years, it became the frontline interceptor in RAF Germany, operating from a base less than 100 miles away from the ‘Iron Curtain’. Further afar, Lightning squadrons were based in Cyprus and Singapore. For an aircraft whose development fell victim to false political doctrines at the time of its birth, it has more than vindicated its existence. Notwithstanding its complex nature as a service aircraft, it was loved by all those who worked on it; any Lightning pilot would agree that the only recurring feature in flying the aircraft was a unique sense of excitement.Richard J. Caruana describes and illustrates the Lightning in his inimitable way, a tribute to an aircraft whose retirement from service marked the end of a long tradition of single-seat interceptors in the Royal Air Force.

Kagero Oficyna Wydawnicza Focke-Wulf Fw 190 a
Book SynopsisThe Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A, alongside with the Messerschmitt Bf 109, is the best-known German fighter from the Second World War. The Fw 190, however, had a much higher lifting capacity and was better armoured, and therefore it was used not only as a classic day fighter, but also as a fighter-bomber, assault aircraft, and also as a night fighter. The Fw 190 A had good performance at low and medium ceilings, on which the double wasp BMW 801 engine performed excellently. Fw 190 A entered the operational service in August 1941 and quickly turned out to be a superior machine to the British fighters of that time. The Spitfire Mk V, which was then used by the RAF, only surpassed it in terms of the turn radius. For almost a year, the British had to deal with this extremely difficult opponent, until the introduction of the Spitfire Mk IX, which finally equalized these disparities. The Fw 190 A, however, remained a dangerous fighter, and its appearance on the Eastern Front resulted in a rapid increase in the number of Jagdwaffe aces. Due to the rugged and resistant engine, the armour of the cockpit and strong weaponry it was a real terror for the crews of Russian bombers and assault aircrafts. The book presents color profiles of the most popular versions of the aircraft.

Kagero Oficyna Wydawnicza Soviet Heavy Fighters 1926-1949
Book SynopsisHis book "Soviet Heavy Fighters 1926 - 1949" was written mainly to showcase some of the lesser known, often forgotten, aircraft types, as well as a group of young and prolific aircraft designers who never had a chance to flourish under difficult wartime conditions and limitations inherent to the Soviet aviation industry of the time. Many of the aircraft designs discussed in the book never went into full-scale productions, others didn't progress beyond the prototype stage and some were complete failures. Nonetheless, quite a few of them featured interesting and innovative design solutions. Hopefully, this comprehensive book will serve the purpose of shedding light on some of the lesser known episodes in the history of Soviet aviation and save them from falling into obscurity.

Kagero Oficyna Wydawnicza Boeing (Mcdonnell Douglas) F/A-18 E/F Super
Book SynopsisThe FACA programme (Future Fighter and Attack Aircraft) was once the largest investment in armaments made in Spain. When choosing the F-18 of McDonnell Douglas (today Boeing), the Air Force has had since 1986 - for the first time in its history - one of the most advanced fighter planes ever designed, with very wide possibilities for adapting new systems throughout its operational life, as evidenced by the Retrofit made in the early 1990s and the current MLU.The FACA program (which ultimately remained in 72 aircraft), followed by the CX programme (for 24 aircraft), was the most important challenge faced by the Spanish Air Force since its creation. The professionalism demonstrated by the commission in charge of flight and technical evaluations won the admiration of the countries involved in the programme. The F-18 Hornet has proven to be the ideal aircraft for air forces in countries with large territorial areas and wide coastlines, or extreme weather conditions.

Kagero Oficyna Wydawnicza Warsaw Pact Vol. II
Book SynopsisIn early 2001 we launched the CAMOUFLAGE & DECALS series. Although the first book in the series was an instant hit, we were forced to abandon the series due to technological issues with decals production. Over the years we released a number of books with decals sets, while the CAMOUFLAGE & DECALS series was patiently waiting for its turn.Well, the time has come to revive the series. Encouraged by mail from our Readers and queries from hobby shops all over the world, we decided to revisit the idea from twenty years ago. We are launching no fewer than three new books in the series, filled with artwork commissioned from well-established and respected authors, with whom we have had a pleasure to cooperate over the years. Featured artists include Jacek Pasieczny, Janusz Światłoń, Maciej Noszczak, Sławomir Zajączkowski, Arkadiusz Wróbel and Mariusz J. Dziedzic.Future books in the series will feature vehicles and aircraft in camouflage representative for a particular period and battlefield. Each book will come with a free set of decals corresponding to the main theme of the book. The first five books in the series will feature color plates published over the years in Kagero books and magazines. At the time of writing the work continues on follow-on CAMOUFLAGE & DECALS books which will feature new, previously unpublished material.Trade ReviewThe renderings are very well done with a slightly worn appearance to them. * IPMS/USA 16/11/2022 *

Kagero Oficyna Wydawnicza Eurofighter Typhoon
Book SynopsisThe Eurofighter program is the most important military and industrial collaboration project that has ever been carried out in the Old Continent. Originally born as an air superiority fighter, intended to counteract the numerical superiority of the Warsaw Pact air forces, after the end of the Cold War it has gradually become a true multi-purpose fighter, possibly the most advanced that exists nowadays, with the possible exception of the North American F-35 Lightning II. It is true that its entry into service was extended over time, there were many new technologies applied in which the European companies involved in its development had to start from scratch: electronic equipment, pilot equipment, etc. But this has been, within its difficulty, the least problematic. The really difficult thing has been that the four partners agreed to go overcoming the milestones that the program was presenting as the months and years passed. Spain has always shown itself to be a very reliable partner and its industry, led by EADS-CASA (now Airbus Defense & Space), has been able to respond effectively and decisively to the challenges that continually presented themselves. We can not say the same of Germany, where the Eurofighter issue became an internal domestic political argument, with ongoing debates in the Federal Parliament, but today these debates have already been largely overcome, although its operational availability rate is the most low of all users.

Wydawnictwo STRATUS, Artur Juszczak Supermarine Spitfire V: Polish Squadrons Over
Book SynopsisThis year marks the 80th anniversary of the Allied landing at Dieppe, France, on 19 August 1942, one of the most controversial battles of the Second World War, which also involved extensive air operations to provide direct support for the amphibious assault and to defend the troops and the fleet against the Luftwaffe. This book is a tribute to the 1st Polish Wing, Fighter Command’s most successful wing during the operation. The wing provided 10% of the Spitfire squadrons engaged in the battle, suffered 3.5% of losses and was credited by Fighter Command with 17% of all enemy aircraft destroyed. Nos. 303 and 317 Polish Squadrons were the top-scoring units that day. Notably, they achieved this while still flying the Spitfire V variant, while some Fighter Command squadrons already had the much improved Mk IX.Several hundred of carefully selected and extensively captioned images depict Spitfires of the five Polish squadrons, as well as the men who maintained and flew them in support of the Dieppe landings.Trade Review...another superlative addition to the Polish Wings series and is very much worth picking up and reading. * Modelling Madness 16/11/2022 *

Kagero Oficyna Wydawnicza Lockheed F-104 Starfighter
Book SynopsisThe Lockheed F-104 was one of the most popular supersonic aircraft in history, although it did not gain recognition in its home country, the United States. Nevertheless, it was used and modernised in fifteen countries around the world. It was the first combat plane to exceed the speed of two Machs, and the first to use the six-barrel M61 Vulcan cannon for combat. The Korean War showed that the US Air Force did not have much advantage in the air over machines from the USSR, especially when it comes to fighter aviation. The Soviet MiG-15 was certainly not inferior to the F-86. In addition, there was mass production in the USSR, where state budget constraints were not taken into account. In this situation, it was necessary to gain a qualitative advantage, and a huge one at that. It was supposed to be given by the F-104 fighter. It was a relatively simple plane with a long fuselage and short and thin wings. The plane was supposed to be as fast as possible to use the combat method: chase, hit, run. The attack was to be carried out with the use of missiles. In 1953, Lockheed received a contract to build prototypes, and three years later face=Calibri>– on April 2, 1956 – pilot Joe Ozier, flying YF-104A (serial No. 55-2955), achieved twice the speed of sound.

Aviation Collectables Company G.80/G.82: The First Italian Jet Trainer
Book SynopsisOnly a few days to December 9th, that date is important because on that day, in 1951, it made the first flight G.80, the first Italian jet trainer. Although produced in Turin the historical flight happened to Amendola, military airport where the prototype was transported from Turin. The choice was obligatory because the Turin track was not long enough to guarantee operations with the new FIAT airplane. The history of the G.80, and of the subsequent improved version, the G.82, deserve to be known. The fifties, in Italy, were the pioneering times of the design of the first jets, the industries were trying to recover from the recent destruction of the war and were looking for markets to restart production. In this context the FIAT initiative, at the time led by prof. Valletta, who authorized Ing. Gabrielli to the project. Aviation Collectables Company could not let the history of the G.80 / G.82 go lost in time and in the Italian Aviation Series the important FIAT project has found the place it deserves in this book.
