John Wiley & Sons Inc Modelling Photovoltaic Systems Using PSpice
Photovoltaics, the direct conversion of light from the sun into electricity, is an increasingly important means of distributed power generation. The SPICE modelling tool is typically used in the development of electrical and electronic circuits. When applied to the modelling of PV systems it provides a means of understanding and evaluating the performance of solar cells and systems. The majority of books currently on the market are based around discussion of the solar cell as semiconductor devices rather than as a system to be modelled and applied to real-world problems. Castaner and Silvestre provide a comprehensive treatment of PV system technology analysis. Using SPICE, the tool of choice for circuits and electronics designers, this book highlights the increasing importance of modelling techniques in the quantitative analysis of PV systems. This unique treatment presents both students and professional engineers, with the means to understand, evaluate and develop their own PV modules and systems. * Provides a unique, self-contained, guide to the modelling and design of PV systems * Presents a practical, application oriented approach to PV technology, something that is missing from the current literature * Uses the widely known SPICE circuit-modelling tool to analyse and simulate the performance of PV modules for the first time * Written by respected and well-known academics in the field

Hippocrene Books Inc.,U.S. Foods and Flavors from Nepal
Birthplace of Buddha and home to stunning Himalayan peaks, Nepal is also known for its unique cuisine and rich cultural traditions. Nepal is a landlocked country that had little contact with the outside world for centuries, resulting in a unique culinary culture that was not influenced by other cuisines. After opening borders in the 1950s, however, Nepal’s cuisine evolved to take on influences from neighboring India, China and Tibet. Those influences, combined with Nepal’s vast cultural and geographic diversity, result in a singular cuisine characterized by the simplicity of fresh local ingredients that are artfully paired with herbs and spices.A Nepali staple is Daal-Bhaat-Tarkaari (lentil-rice-vegetable), found in many variations and flavors. It includes boiled rice accompanied by daal made from dried beans, lentils, or peas. A variety of fresh vegetables and leafy greens round out the meal. The use of spices is mild and subtle, but meals are often served with a side of spicy pickles. Meat, poultry, and fish are served only occasionally, mostly during celebrations.Author Jyoti Pathak’s first cookbook Taste of Nepal won a Gourmand World Cookbook award for Best Foreign Cuisine Cookbook and showcased the foods and recipes of her native Nepal to a wider audience. This new cookbook brings the foods and flavors of Nepal alive with color photographs throughout, notes about important Nepali customs, festivals and holidays, and a collection of 185 recipes that spans traditional Nepali fare to popular fusion dishes, street foods and the modern Nepali table. Also included are helpful chapters on Nepali ingredients, utensils and cooking techniques and a glossary of Nepali-English words.Sample recipes: Kukhura ko Chowelaa (Chicken Chowelaa) Jwaano-Bhaat (Ajowan Rice) Maas ko Khichari (Split Urad Bean-Rice Khichari) Panchamukhi Daal (Mixed Five Daal) Tinkune-roti (Flaky Roti Bread) Sit le Khaeko Raayo so Saag (Spiced Mustard Greens) Pharsi ko Munta (Pumpkin Vine Shoots) Rukh-Katahar ko Tarkaari (Green Jackfruit Curry) Alu ko Achaar (Spicy Potato Salad with Sesame Seeds) Dahi Haaleko Khasi ko Maasu (Goat Curry with Yogurt)

Hodder & Stoughton Dune
Before The Matrix, before Star Wars, before Ender's Game and Neuromancer, there was Dune: winner of the prestigious Hugo and Nebula awards, and widely considered one of the greatest science fiction novels ever written. Melange, or 'spice', is the most valuable - and rarest - element in the universe; a drug that does everything from increasing a person's life-span to making intersteller travel possible. And it can only be found on a single planet: the inhospitable desert world Arrakis. Whoever controls Arrakis controls the spice. And whoever controls the spice controls the universe. When the Emperor transfers stewardship of Arrakis from the noble House Harkonnen to House Atreides, the Harkonnens fight back, murdering Duke Leto Atreides. Paul, his son, and Lady Jessica, his concubine, flee into the desert. On the point of death, they are rescued by a band for Fremen, the native people of Arrakis, who control Arrakis' second great resource: the giant worms that burrow beneath the burning desert sands. In order to avenge his father and retake Arrakis from the Harkonnens, Paul must earn the trust of the Fremen and lead a tiny army against the innumerable forces aligned against them. And his journey will change the universe.

World Scientific Publishing Co Pte Ltd Brave New E-world (In 2 Volumes)
In this two-volume work, writing for a general audience, Dr Michael Gurvitch proposes a unifying concept of electronics which combines the history of electronics with the science of evolution. Drawing on his long experience in scientific development, Gurvitch illuminates electronics from the inside using the point of view of a practicing scientist. What is elusive and often overlooked becomes palpable, engaging and even humorous with the author's tireless and methodical exposition of fundamental scientific roots from which electronics grew and continues to grow. This set contains both volumes of Brave New e-World, presenting the historical review of electronics from the middle of the 18th century to the present day. From the telegraph to the quantum computer and superconductors, Gurvitch combines personal recollections with scientific knowledge to advance the final thesis: the representation of a new non-biological evolution in electronics. This is all done in an intellectually engaging way: spiced by historical anecdotes, warmed by Gurvitch's enthusiastic love for science, and completed with the full participation of the reader. The concluding argument on electronic evolution is alarming, but it might prove to be a necessary concern in the continual development of electronic technologies.

Schiffer Publishing Ltd From Colts to Ravens: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Baltimore Professional Football
Step into the locker rooms, the playing fields, and the owners’ offices with sportswriter John F. Steadman as he relates the fascinating tale of football in Baltimore. In scores of animated first-person accounts, the author tells it like it was: from the organization of the Colts in 1947, through the sale of the team to Bob Irsay in 1972, to the infamous trip out of the town under the cover of darkness in 1984, and finally the acquisition of a new Baltimore team, the Ravens, in 1996. Included in the telling are the player heroes—Unitas, Donovan, Moore, Berry, and others—as well as the coaches, general managers, and owners. Among the cast of characters were con men, real scoundrels, and not a few bizarre figures. Some had good intentions; others were inept; still others were devious. The story is spiced with pungent comments from a man who was there—first as a fan watching the inaugural game in 1947 and later as a professional reporting the championship moments, the demise in 1984, and the ensuing struggle to return to the league.

Pan Stanford Publishing Pte Ltd Introduction to Nanoelectronic Single-Electron Circuit Design
Today, the concepts of single-electron tunneling (SET) are used to understand and model single-atom and single-molecule nanoelectronics. The characteristics of nanoelectronic devices, especially SET transistors, can be understood on the basis of the physics of nanoelectronic devices and circuit models. A circuit theory approach is necessary for considering possible integration with current microelectronic circuitry. To explain the properties and possibilities of SET devices, this book follows an approach to modeling these devices using electronic circuit theory. All models and equivalent circuits are derived from the first principles of circuit theory. Based on energy conservation, the circuit model of SET is an impulsive current source, and modeling distinguishes between bounded and unbounded currents. The Coulomb blockade is explained as a property of a single junction. In addition, this edition differs from the previous one by elaborating on the section on spice simulations and providing a spice simulation on the SET electron box circuit, including the spice netlist. Also, a complete, new proof of the two-capacitor problem in circuit theory is presented; the importance of this proof in understanding energy conservation in SET circuits cannot be underestimated. This book will be very useful for advanced undergraduate- and graduate-level students of electrical engineering and nanoelectronics and researchers in nanotechnology, nanoelectronic device physics, and computer science.Only book modeling both single-electron tunneling and many electron tunneling from the points of view of electronics; starting from experiments, via a physics description, working towards a circuit description; and based on energy conservation, in electrical circuits, developing the impulse circuit model for single-electron tunneling.
