The need to gather available data on the Eurasien huchen - an important salmonid species - has been forced by a plain and, unfortunately, common fact of our times: the numbers and distribution of this biggest of salmonids have begun to decline and its range has begun to shrink. A seminar on the huchen - the European form of the species Hucha hucha - held in Zilina in February 1973 as a result of a suggestion of the Section for the Conservation of Fauna of the Slovak Zoological Society, indicated very clearly the sad situation. Data on the biology of the huchen are regrettably scarce despite several recent papers (Ivaska 1951, Svetina 1962, Prawochenski and Kolder 1968) with the aim of filling this gap. Supposing that without a thorough knowledge it is practically impossible to conserve any plant or animal species, the participants of the seminar concluded that the existing knowledge on the huchen should be compiled in an exhaustive monograph. The first such outline originated in 1977 under the authorship of J. Holcik, K. Hensel and L. Skacel, and was submitted as a research report to some of the central authorities. Even during the compilation of the report it became evident, however, that there is no difference between the huchen and its relative, the taimen. Consequently, we immediately began revising our first report, which took over three years.

"Omnes Gentes" is a collaborative effort between "Missio"-Belgium, the International "Lumen Vitae" Institute for Catechesis and Pastoral Studies (Brussels), the Faculty of Theology (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), and the Faculte de theologie et de droit canonique (Universite Catholique Louvain-la-Neuve). "Omnes Gentes" believes that the Gospel about Jesus Christ constitutes a challenging and life giving message for all people.The first part of this volume, "A Mission Statement for Today's Christians," contains the contributions of the first "Omnes Gentes" conference (2003). As the title suggests, this conference intended to make a statement on the missionary task of all Christians. In many contributions by Belgian and international scholars it is emphasized that mission is no longer seen as a unidirectional movement, starting from the Western Church, and that the Church in Belgium and Europe is a missionary Church as well.In the second part of this volume, "Rituals for Life," the contributions of the second "Omnes Gentes" conference (2004) are gathered. The fruitful exchanges between scholars from Belgium, Congo, Nigeria, Pakistan, Ucraine and the United States made it possible to reflect on the anthropological, ritual, liturgical and theological dimensions of a "lively" Christian liturgy.

La punition consiste le plus souvent a infliger au coupable ce qu'il redoute le plus dans cette vie, comme l'exil, ou dans l'autre, comme les supplices infernaux, le refus d'inhumer le coupable etant la perenisation de la punition, theme recurrent dans beaucoup de documentations mais etudie systematiquement a propos de la Bible. Des recits caucasiques montrent la prehistoire du mythe de Promethee, puni par les Dieux pour avoir instaure sa propre justice. Ces textes, loin du recit classique et tres empreints d'ideologie chretienne, s'en tiennent encore a la brutalite d'une demesure assurement condamnable. Du Japon proviennent des recits humoristiques se moquant du maitre de la punition qu'est cense etre le chef des enfers ou comment l'on distribue de facon inopinee des coups de baton pour inciter au mieux. L'horrible fait divers qui clot ces contributions montre jusqu'a l'epoque contemporaine le relativite des sanctions selon les points de vue.

Cet ouvrage presente un nouveau mode de description du francais. L'originalite de la description proposee, c'est d'appliquer a la syntaxe une partie des analyses structuralistes qui avaient fait leurs preuves en morphologie. En particulier, on distingue dans la syntaxe des processus analogues aux flexions morphologiques qui representent la partie grammaticale la plus systematique de la langue; d'autre part des processus analogues aux derivations, qui refletent des processus lexicales, beaucoup moins systematiques. A ces deux types correspondent deux sortes de semantique: l'une, attachee aux procedes les plus systematiques, constitue la semantique lexicale, ou 'seconde'. La semantique primitive se laisse approcher par une analyse en traits semantico-syntaxiques: trait d'individualite, de complexite, par la notion d'induction de sens, par la consideration de cryptotypes comme sont les 'phases' de verbes. Les relations entre 'verbe' et 'phrase', entre pronom et lexique, la validite de la notion d'universaux, sont reconsiderees.

Landmark is a collaborative body of photographic work generated over the last five years in Pontiac/Detroit, Michigan, and Toledo, Ohio. In this volume, photographers J.W. Fisher and J.T. Leonard focus on exchanges between individuals and communities, as well as interventions in the landscape. Joel W. Fisher has published, exhibited and taught around the world. His work has been published in multiple magazines and books, including his most recent collaborative publication, 'Landmark.' Fisher has shown in museums and galleries such as the Kiosk Gallery in Missouri, Wassaic Projects in New York, the HGB in Germany and the Fotomuseum in Switzerland. Currently, he is an assistant professor of Art at the Lewis & Clark College. Justin T. Leonard received his MFA in Photography from Yale University in 2009. Leonard has shown work nationally in both group and solo exhibitions. In 2013 he was the recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Individual Fellowship, and in the summer of 2014 was selected to participate in Review Santa Fe by Center Programs. Blake Stimson is Professor of Art History at the University of California, Davis. He is the author of The Pivot of the World: Photography and Its Nation (2004), and coeditor (with Alexander Alberro) of Conceptual Art: A Critical Anthology (2000), both published by the MIT Press. Lisa Larson-Walker is Slate's associate art director, based in Brooklyn. She also is the editor of Slate's Instagram account. She is a graduate of the Cooper Union School of Art, and previously worked at Newsweek and the Daily Beast.
