AVEdition Borders: European Architectural Photography Prize 2017
architekturbild, the European Architectural Photography Prize, has been awarded on a two-yearly basis since 1995. This time the contestants' subject is "Borders." A polarized subject, borders can be understood in the sense of opening or closing, of including or excluding, or as definitions of geographical or (urban) spatial areas. They can be clearly recognizable or subtly noticeable, but are always perceived as either protecting or deterring. In the context of the European Architectural Photography Prize 2017, this book by no means focuses on the negative interpretations of this term, but rather on how the concept of 'borders' influences and stimulates photographic-artistic involvement with our built environment. This book accompanies an international traveling exhibition, starting in the German Architecture Museum (DAM) on May 5th, 2017.

AVEdition Trade Fair Design Annual 2015/2016
If all five senses are appealed to in brand communication, then it significantly intensifies the emotional links between the brand and the consumer. Therefore it is no wonder that multisensory aspects play a particularly important role in trade fair presentations. The atmosphere of a trade fair hall can easily lead to a sensory overload. Exhibitors are therefore not only engaged in a product competition, but also in a perceptual competition. In light of this, authors of this year's trade fair design yearbook have once again brought together the best 60 trade fair stands of the past year and show a cross section of trade fair design that appeals to all the senses. Text in English and German.

AVEdition Recyclable by Werner Sobek
The Urban Mining and Recycling (UMAR) Experimental Unit, located on the campus of the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, was designed by Werner Sobek with Dirk E. Hebel and Felix Heisel. All the elements required to construct the unit had to be 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable. Of central importance is the idea that instead of using and subsequently disposing of resources, they can be borrowed from their technical and biological cycles for a certain amount of time before being put back into circulation once again. This project demonstrates how a responsible approach to dealing with natural resources can be applied to creating appealing and sustainable buildings, and places life-cycle thinking at the forefront of design. Contents: Construction, Facade, Interiors, Fixtures and Fitings, Product Design and Sustainabilty, Planning Process, Text in English and German.
