Infolge des Strukturwandels in der Oberpfalz wurden in Blaibach Häuser verlassen, Schule, Läden und Gaststätten geschlossen. Für eine Wiederbelebung der Ortsmitte entwickelte der Architekt Peter Haimerl Konzept und Umsetzung eines Konzerthauses und einer Bürgereinrichtung – unterstützt von dem aus Blaibach stammenden Bariton Thomas Bauer, einer Gruppe engagierter Ortsbewohner, Sponsoren und der Städtebauförderung. Der Neubau des Konzerthauses mutet an wie ein archaischer Felsblock und ist mit seiner wunderbaren Akustik ein kultureller Magnet für Musik-Enthusiasten von nah und fern. Ein benachbarter Bestandsbau wurde saniert, erweitert und zum Bürgerhaus umgewidmet, zudem ein ruinöses Waidlerhaus wieder Instand gesetzt.Die neue Mitte Blaibachs ist mit Fotos, Plänen und beschreibenden Texten dokumentiert. Zudem wird das Umfeld mit den suggestiven Ablichtungen des Künstlerduos Edward Beierle und Jutta Görlich neu inszeniert, vergessene Bereiche werden in den Blick genommen und eröffnen ein Feld zwischen Vergangenheit und Gegenwart – so wie es auch in der neuen Architektur angelegt ist.
