In 2011, Pongo travelled to the Democratic Republic of Congo to photograph the country’s general election and its impact on society. He soon became aware that, as a European educated photographer he could neither define which stories mattered nor were they his to tell. As his awareness of this increased, he came to terms with the limits of photography to show ‘the truth’ as well as his own limitations in accessing and understanding the environment, bias, and stereotypes. The project evolved into the photographs which form his first book The Uncanny. The Uncanny was the winner of the ICP GOST First Photobook Award 2020.

As an aesthetic ideal, classicism is often associated with a conventional set of rules founded on supposedly timeless notions such as order, reason, and decorum. As a result, it is sometimes viewed as rigid, outdated, or stodgy. During the Progressive Era, over 150 African American women's clubs flourished in Chicago. Through these clubs, women created a vibrant social world of their own, seeking to achieve social and political uplift by educating themselves and the members of their communities. In politics, they battled legal discrimination, advocated anti-lynching laws, and fought for suffrage. In the tradition of other mothering, in which the the community shares in the care and raising of all its children, the club women established kindergartens, youth clubs, and homes for the elderly. In Toward a Tenderer Humanity and a Nobler Womanhood, Anne Meis Knupfer documents how the club women created multiple allegiances through social and club networks and sheds light on the life experiences of African American women in urban centers throughout the country. With the increasing use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) across various cancers, the trends for indication at earlier stages, and the use of combination immunotherapy, the frequency of ICI-induced immune-related adverse events (irAE) is expected to grow substantially. Management of these irAE is challenging as it requires not only consideration of the toxicity but also risk-benefit ratios with respect to the primary cancer. Several rheumatic irAE have been reported with ICI therapy including arthritis, myositis, polymyalgia-like syndromes, sicca/Sjogren-like manifestations, and several other less common systemic autoimmune features commonly associated with connective tissue disease. This handbook provides clinicians with a comprehensive overview of the management of rheumatic irAE that develop from cancer immunotherapy. It focuses on the irAE seen with ICI, the most frequently used agents in treating cancer.
