Being a scoutmaster can be one of the most rewarding things a person can do. But it can be a lot of work!Ask any scoutmaster what’s the hardest part of the job, and one of the most common responses you will get would be coming up with the scoutmaster’s minutes. Week after week, over fifty times a year, the scoutmaster must come up with an inspiring, educational, and entertainment message for the Scouts. Let’s face it. Not every scoutmaster is the most gifted public speaker. Research shows that the number one fear of people is speaking in public. And how do you come up with inspiring stories, instructional words of wisdom and motivational messages, week after week? Long-time Scout leader, Larry Carpenter, has written a book that can be a lifesaver for any scoutmaster. This collection of 100 of the best scoutmaster’s minutes offers brief messages that are themed to topics, including the Scout Oath, Law, Motto and Slogan. Additional minutes cover other topics, such as persistence, honesty, leadership, and other positive character traits. This book makes a perfect gift for your scoutmaster. Or, if you are a scoutmaster who is on the spot once a week, make it a gift to yourself!

Carpenter's Son Publishing Unconstrained: Loving God with Abandon
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30). For most of us, this directive from Jesus seems a little overwhelming. What does it look like to truly love God with ALL that we are? Is this really even possible in a culture that vies for our attention and affections from every direction?ABSOLUTELY!If we approach this passage of Scripture as merely another item on our spiritual “to do” list, then we are defeated before we even begin. Human zeal and determination can only carry us so far – we simply can’t transform our hearts on our own. But the good news is that the one who gives the commandment is the one who provides the power to fulfill it! He initiates. He directs. He empowers. We simply cooperate. If you live in a state of constant frustration, wondering if God even takes your weak attempts to love Him seriously anymore, DON’T GIVE UP! Instead, let your heart be transformed by the inexhaustible love of the Bridegroom God, who is ravished with desire for you!

Carpenter's Son Publishing Overflowing: Ministry and Missions That Flow From The Heart
Do you long to be useful to God and hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant"? (Matthew 25:21) Overflowing is born out of ten years meditating on this question: Why does God use some people more than others? In our zeal to be used by God, we have a tendency to rely on doing things for God. However, when God chose to use certain individuals in the Bible, it wasn’t because of their effort or abilities. God was looking at their heart. God still searches hearts. You can become a person that is useful to God—not because of great things you do, but because of a heart that pleases Him. When God finds a heart that is fully His, He fills it to overflowing.
