Quart Publishers Kollektiv Marudo
The spectrum of the young Baden-based office Kollektiv Marudo ranges from conversion and renovation projects to large housing estates. Its founders Alexander Athanas, Ole Bühlmann and Rafael Zulauf strive to achieve sustainable architecture through the integral observation of each building task, while its innovative character never contradicts tried and trusted approaches. Instead, their architecture unfolds between the coordinates of flexibility, local and use-related specifics, and innovation, representing consistent further developments of existing qualities. One such example is the new Brühl school facility in Solothurn, which was completed in 2022: the collective was founded in 2018 after winning the project competition. With an article by Bertram Ernst. Text in English and German.

Quart Publishers Soppelsa
soppelsa Architekten focuses on the relationship between spaces – their qualities, materialisation, proportions and light guidance – and the project programme. Already in the early years after founding their office in 2012, the brothers Mario and Nino Soppelsa managed to apply that approach in a number of competition successes. In 2015, the semi-detached house in Esslingen was their first constructed project. However, their work is not limited to housing and also includes successful projects on all scales: their Hagmannareal Winterthur-Seen residential estate has won several awards, while their newly constructed Oberrüti double sports hall was included in the list of Best Architects 2023. Text in English and German.

Quart Publishers Carlos Martinez: De aedibus 100
Carlos Martinez has been running his architectural office in Berneck (Switzerland) for over 30 years. His great energy and inventive engagement with the urban-planning context and its existing structures have led to numerous architectural projects that integrate themselves as powerful figures in the urban context and landscape. Text in English and German.

Quart Publishers Central and University Library, Lucerne: Original Building and Heritage Renovation
The Lucerne architects Thomas Lussi and Remo Halter Casagrande competently solve the complex tasks involved in heritage renovation today: the ideal preservation of the substance, discovering and restoring often nuanced, detailed qualities in the original building, the careful static stabilisation of the structure and the gentle renewal of individual elements as a result of use in and around the building. The original building was erected in 1951 according to plans by Otto Dreyer - one of the most important Lucerne architects of the time. The library was widely regarded throughout Switzerland. The book documents the original 1951 building using historical plans and photographs, provides insight into the building-historical analysis before the renovation and uses plans and photo material to describe the strategy and measures by the architects in renovating the architecturally important historical building. Text in English and German. Features articles by Cony Grünenfelder, Siegfried Moeri, Ulrich Niederer, and Stanislaus von Moos.
