HarperCollins Publishers Inc In the Cockpit 2: Inside History-Making Aircraft of World War II
Capitalizing on the success of "In the Cockpit", Collins Design will partner again with the National Air and Space Museum to publish a book on the most significant World War II planes in the museum's collection. World War II is a highly popular publishing genre, and national accounts have asked for a follow-up book to "In the Cockpit". Organized into twelve 'chapters', the book features 32 important World War II aircraft over approximately 47 spreads (104 pages). The text on each aircraft will place it in context from a historical and aviation perspective; images will include close-up shots of the cockpit as well as two to three archival or artifact photographs. There will be a twelve-page appendix featuring silhouettes of the panels with callouts identifying the key features.

Abrams Milestones of Flight: From Hot-Air Balloons to SpaceShipOne
Milestones of Flight takes readers soaring through the high points of American aviation: from the Wright brothers and their competitors to the military pilots who first circumnavigated the globe, from the initial space rocket to the moon walk, from the earliest manmade satellite to today’s spy drones. The book also describes what inventions—such as rocket propulsion, the wind tunnel, and the silicon chip—helped move flight upward and beyond. Profusely illustrated with objects from the Smithsonian’s collection, Milestones of Flight provides an inspiring look at America’s contributions to aviation. The book includes a bibliography, author’s note, and index.
