Volume 26 of the Flora of Australia series describes three families of plants, Meliaceae, Rutaceae and Zygophyllaceae, with 61 genera and 588 species.Meliaceae is a largely tropical family and includes the well-known Toona ciliate, Red Cedar, as well as Melia azedarach, White Cedar, widely planted as an ornamental and shade tree. The largest family, Rutaceae, has 43 genera and 486 species in Australia. Some are rainforest plants, but the majority are sclerophyllous shrubs in temperate Australia, with the largest of the genera, Boronia, having 148 species. The family also includes the economically important citrus group, which includes some endemic species used in the bush food industry.Zygophyllaceae are herbs or subshrubs of mainly inland parts of Australia, and some species are very widespread. A few are declared noxious weeds, and others are reputed to be poisonous to stock.Thirty-three authors, illustrators and photographers have contributed to this volume.

Volume 56A of the highly acclaimed Flora of Australia series covers some of the most spectacular and ecologically significant Australian lichens. This volume provides treatments of Pertusaria and Lecanora, two of the most species-rich crustose genera on rock and bark in Australia. Pertusaria is often dominant in tropical, temperate and alpine communities in eastern Australia. Lecanora occurs on rock, soil, and on trunks and canopy branches of trees in all ecosystems; some are especially prominent in the comparatively species-poor lichen floras of semi-arid and arid regions. Also included here is Usnea, a genus of robust and often luxuriant lichens ranging from almost rigid tufts on exposed, alpine rocks to metre-long skeins hanging from the canopies of temperate rainforest trees. Complete or partial accounts of nine families are provided in Volume 56A, including 17 genera and 287 species and infra-specific taxa. This brings to 1168 the number of Australian lichen species and infra-specific taxa treated in the four volumes published so far.

Volume 37 of the Flora of Australia is the first of three volumes covering the family Asteraceae. This volume presents an introduction to the family in Australia, including a synoptic classification and keys, and treatments of all the tribes represented in Australia, with the exception of the large tribes Gnaphalieae and Astereae, which will each be the subject of a future volume of the Flora.Nineteen tribes, 233 genera and 518 species are treated in this volume, of which the majority are introduced (only 47 genera include native species).Asteraceae are the largest family of flowering plants, with over 1600 genera and 24,000 species found on all continents except Antarctica, and also one of the largest families in Australia, with an estimated 290 genera and 1430 species. The family is found throughout Australia, in all habitats, although scarce in rainforest.Twenty-seven authors, illustrators and photographers have contributed to this volume.
