The M113 is the most widely used and versatile armoured vehicle in the world. Fielded in 1960 as a simple 'battlefield taxi', over 80,000 M113s would see service with 50 nations around the world and 55 years later, many thousands are still in use. In addition to its original role of transporting troops across the battlefield, specialized versions perform a multitude of other functions including command and control, fire support, anti-tank and anti-aircraft defence, and casualty evacuation. This new fully illustrated study examines the service record of the M113 from its initial fielding through to the end of the Vietnam War. It will also describe the many US, South Vietnamese, and Australian variants of the M113 used in the Vietnam War as well as information on tactics, unit tables of organization and equipment, and a selection of engagements in which the M113 played a decisive role.

Diese Methode steht im Gegensatz zu einer Auslegungstradition, die Apc Joh primär aufgrund paganer Mythologeme erklärt.Gleichwohl verfolgt Jan Dochhorn ein religionshistorisches Anliegen: Er bestimmt Apc Joh 12 als wichtigen Belegtext für die im frühen Judentum und Christentum außerordentlich produktive Vorstellung vom endzeitlichen Teufelsfall, die von Überlieferungen über einen Teufelsfall in der Urzeit scharf abzugrenzen ist. Röm 7,7-25 ist das Kernstück eines umfangreichen Adam-Sünde-Tod-Komplexes in den Protopaulinen. Es hat eine reichhaltige Auslegungstradition hervorgebracht, die Jan Dochhorn in diesem Band in Grundzügen nachzeichnet. Als Hintergrund des Textes identifiziert er die Apokalypse des Mose (Apc Mos). Damit ergibt sich die Möglichkeit, die Apc Mos genauer zu datieren und die Entstehungsgeschichte des jüdischen Adammythos zu beschreiben. Ferner lassen sich die Apc Mos und mehrere mit ihr verwandten Werke dem Milieu von Diasporarückwanderern in Jerusalem zuordnen, dem Paulus angehörte und von dem das frühe Christentum wesentliche Anregungen empfing. Theologisch ergeben sich mit dieser Arbeit Konsequenzen vor allem für die Anthropologie, Hamartiologie und Nomologie des Paulus, die systematisch dargestellt werden und mit denen sich für die Dogmatik, die kirchliche Verkündigung und das Gespräch zwischen den Konfessionen neue Impulse ergeben sollen.

Die Apokalypse des Mose, eine Geschichte über das Leben Adams und Evas nach der Vertreibung aus dem Paradies mit erzählerischen Rückblenden auf die Verführung der Erzeltern, wird seit Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts als Text aus der Umwelt des Neuen Testaments angesehen und dementsprechend als Parallelstellenreservoir verwertet. In den letzten Jahrzehnten ist seine religionsgeschichtliche Verortung strittig geworden, mehrere Forscher weisen sie nicht mehr dem frühen Judentum, sondern dem Christentum zu, wobei in der Regel jeweils mit Parallelstellen argumentiert wird.In dieser Situation zeigt Jan Dochhorn einen neuen methodischen Zugang auf, der etwas mehr Sicherheit verspricht als die Arbeit mit religionsgeschichtlichen Parallelen. Ausgehend von einer eigenständigen Rekonstruktion des Textes untersucht die Kommentierung vor allem die Frage, welche exegetische Arbeit der Apc Mos zugrunde liegt. Der Autor weist nach, daß der Text fast durchgängig auf exegetischen Beobachtungen an hebräischer Bibelüberlieferung beruht, dabei jedoch zugleich auf Griechisch abgefaßt wurde. Ein solcher Text konnte am ehesten in einem griechischsprachigen jüdisch-palästinensischen Milieu des 1./2. Jh. n. Chr. entstehen.

To counter the Soviet threat and that of their client States during the Cold War years 1949-1991, the American military deployed an impressive range of main battle tanks (MBTs) and armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs). The Patton series of medium MBTs (including the M46, M47 and M48) supplemented by the M103s Heavy Tank initially formed the core of the US tank fleet. In 1960 the M60 MBT with its British designed 105mm gun entered service and, in turn, was replaced by the M1 Abrams in 1980. In support were armoured reconnaissance vehicles, progressively the M41 bull dog (1951); the M114 (1961), the M551 Sheridan (1967) and M3 Bradley Cavalry Fighting Vehicle (1981). The armoured personnel carrier (APC) range included the ubiquitous M113 and its replacement the M2 Bradley, cousin of the M3.
