A teenage movie crush set her standards high. Now a real man needs to meet them. Fast. Chicago obstetrician Mackenzie “Mac” Huntress set her standards for men very high early on. It’s been over twenty years since she fell for a fictional movie heartthrob, and Mac’s content to wait for the real version to come along; it’s her nagging mother who’s not happy with the timeline. So Mac falls back on her lifelong Mom-surviving skill—lying. The latest fabrication: a handsome neurologist named Michael. Pity he’s too busy to meet her friends and family. Problem solved. But when Mac’s little sister announces her engagement, Mac is expected to introduce her elusive “plus-one” at the wedding, leaving her with only forty days to find a flesh-and-blood stand-in for the imaginary Michael. And the only potential Mr. Right comes with a big hitch. However, it turns out Mac’s not the only one bringing secrets to the wedding. With expectations high, and shocking truths to be revealed, Mac’s left to find her own happy ending, which isn’t as simple as in the movies…though it’s definitely worth waiting for.

Anness Publishing Birth of Jesus
This book includes all the best-loved aspects of the famous story, from the appearance of the Angel Gabriel before the virgin Mary, to the arrival of the shepherds and wise men at the stable. It retells key moments from the first Christmas, such as the journey to Bethlehem, Jesus sleeping in a manger, and the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. This special padded boardbook is ideal for babies and toddlers to hold, look at, and talk about. Bright, appealing illustrations and simple rhyming text make this the perfect introduction to the Nativity. When a glowing angel informs Mary that she is going to have a son, the woman frets, because she is not yet married to her fiance Joseph. The angel tells her not to worry, because the baby will be a holy child - the Son of God. However, when the Roman emperor orders a count of all his subjects, Joseph and the pregnant Mary are forced to travel from their home in Nazareth to the little town of Bethlehem...The words and pictures in this sturdy little boardbook have been carefully chosen to help little ones share and treasure the Christmas message.

Liverpool University Press Inequality in the Portuguese-Speaking World: Global & Historical Perspectives
Global social inequality has declined over the past 100 years and the gap between different parts of the world, measured by average lifespan, has narrowed. The internal gap between wealthy and poor in the western world has likewise reduced, from the 1930s to the 1970s, although not in a linear way. The 1980s represented a turning point in developed countries, as the top 0.1% of income earners accumulated extraordinary riches. This new trend did not subside with the financial crisis of 2008, but expanded to less developed areas of the world; indeed, long-term significant reduction of poverty is now considered vulnerable. Inequality of income and its associated impacts has triggered a passionate debate between those who maintain that an unequal accumulation of richness is crucial for economic and social progress and those who believe that it does not encourage investment and that it prevents increased demand, thus negatively affecting the economy. This contributed volume sets out to study social inequality in Portuguese-speaking countries, thus providing diversification of experience across different continents. The purpose is to identify major economic, historical and cultural developments in terms of education, health, life-cycle, gender, ethnic, and religious relations. The current realities of migration are also addressed, since they raise the issue of ethnic integration. This is the first published work to address inequality in a cross-continent yet same language perspective, and presents a striking advance in the global study of inequality.

University of Toronto Press Falsehood and Fallacy: How to Think, Read, and Write in the Twenty-First Century
Falsehood and Fallacy shows students how to evaluate what they read in a digital age now that old institutional gatekeepers, such as the media or institutions of higher education, no longer hold a monopoly on disseminating knowledge. Short chapters cover the problems that exist as a result of the current flow of unmediated information, Fake News, and bad arguments, and demonstrate how to critically evaluate sources – particularly those that appear online. Kilcrease provides a range of tools to help students evaluate the legitimacy of what they read. She discusses how to be on the lookout for bad arguments and logical fallacies and explains how students can produce clear and convincing academic writing. Exercises are included throughout the book to test student knowledge. Written in a positive style and full of useful tools and exercises, Falsehood and Fallacy embraces the idea that everyone is a writer and has aptitude for further growth.

'Fun and fresh and quietly radical, Ruby is the heroine of dreams!' Elle McNicollFor sixteen-year-old Ruby, GCSEs are over and summer has just begun, so that means hanging out with her BFFs in the park on their roller skates and having fun. She didn't expect it to mean signing up to run in the Dawson Dash - a 5k race for sporty sixth-formers. Because Ruby is NOT sporty. But she really needs to prove wrong her mean brother and even meaner PE teacher about what a fat girl can do. When Ruby starts to train, she doesn't expect that she would need help - nor that she would find it in the cute boy who has just moved in next door. As the two jog through the long summer evenings in south London's parks together, with Ollie only seeing her at her sweatiest and most vulnerable, the last thing she expected was that he might . . . like her. Or that she could allow herself to like him.But nothing this summer is working out like she expected . .

Bristol University Press Ageing and the Crisis in Health and Social Care: Global and National Perspectives
Neoliberal political discourses have normalised the belief in northern European countries that individuals are responsible for their health and wellbeing, regardless of social class, gender or ethnic background. Drawing on examples from Germany, Sweden and the UK, Simmonds critically examines how the neoliberalisation and marketisation of health and social care have created an adverse environment for older people, who lack social and cultural capital to access the care they need. This crucial analysis scrutinises provision for ageing populations on an individual, national and global level. Challenging current political and social policy approaches, this rigorous text discusses innovative solutions to contemporary challenges in a complex care system.

There's a goblin about, and grumpy fairies happen to be a goblin's favourite food…Characterful illustrations transport readers to the animal-filled world of the fairy's forest, and easy to read text is perfect for young readers. Ryland, Peters & Small Ltd The Queen: 70 years of Majestic Style
The past 70 years have seen a 25-year-old Princess transform into a nonagenarian monarch who was respected and loved the world over. A woman whose views were never heard, Queen Elizabeth II deployed fashion as a means to communicate and signal her position to the crowds who gathered to see her in public and the millions who watched her television broadcasts: “I must be seen to be believed,” she said. The Queen’s evolving attitude to dress reflected a visual landscape that started as genteel reportage in black and white and over the years developed into a 24/7 live-streamed news cycle, flashed around the world in seconds and driven by social media. Through it all, Elizabeth II’s style was an extension of all she represented as Queen; it was stoical and cautious yet dazzling and majestic. The Queen: 70 Years of Majestic Style celebrates the fashion evolution of Elizabeth II and takes a look at an unrivalled archive of unique fashion moments that bear testament to the care and consideration the Queen took in looking the part for a role like no other.
