The archaeological excavations along the route of packages 3 and 4 of the Batinah Expressway, Sultanate of Oman, conducted during the spring and summer of 2014, recorded over 60 archaeological sites over the 200km stretch of roadway cutting through the Batinah plain, north-west of Muscat. The majority of these sites were prehistoric tombs of varying ages. These excavations have allowed a re-thinking of the dating of some of these tombs, looking particularly at the structural styles of the tombs as well as their location in the landscape. It has also demonstrated techniques of rapid yet reliable excavation and recording techniques adapted from UK commercial archaeology for the Omani conditions. The report builds on the work of academic studies and adds a large dataset to the archaeology of the Batinah, Oman and the wider region. It is hoped that this will allow a wider scale reconsideration of the burial styles of the prehistoric Gulf.

Luftwaffe Bombers in the Blitz will comprise of some 140-150 images of German bomber aircraft during the Blitz of 1940-1941. The images will cover the entirety of the Blitz and will also depict losses across Britain during this period. Each picture will tell its own story, and will be fully captioned with historical detail. Each section will have a short introduction and the images will include those of shot down aircraft, including relatively intact machines, badly damaged/destroyed wreckages, photographs of pilots and other related illustrations. All images are from the author's unique collection of wartime photographs of Luftwaffe losses, collected from a variety of sources across some thirty-five years of research.

This book examines the social aspects of Bahamian society between the early 19th and mid-20th centuries, advancing our knowledge of Bahamian history and helping to locate the Bahamas within the regional and historical context of the West Indies. It shows how, despite the absence of sugar and a commercial rather than agricultural economy, the Bahamas' social development bears great similarities to other countries of the Caribbean in terms of the extreme poverty experienced, the oppressive socioeconomic conditions and acute racial and social divisions that developed in the post-emancipation era. The first part of the book details life and culture within the black community and includes chapters on the colored middle class in the late 19th to mid-20th century, the role of women and aspects of African-Bahamian cultures during the same time. The middle section underscores the effects of Prohibition, including blockade running and alcohol tourism, and the impact of traditional tourism on Bahamian society. The final part of the book covers the historical events that arose out of the growing dissatisfaction among blacks with respect to racism and political and economic marginalization, including the riot of 1937 and the strikes of 1942 and 1958.

Cysteine is a naturally occurring, sulphur-containing amino acid with a thiol group and is found in most proteins. Cysteine is a common constituent in health-care products like protein powders, body-building shakers, and smoothies. In medicine, it is used for the treatment of diabetes, inflammation, angina, chronic bronchitis, cardiovascular disease, flu and osteoarthritis. Also, some studies suggest that it can enhance lung health in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The first chapter of this book focuses on the uses of cysteine in both industries and medicine and health.
