Taylor & Francis Ltd Computers and Aphasia: A Special Issue of Aphasiology
This special issue of Aphasiology brings together papers from six countries in three continents on the ways in which computers are being used in the domain. Information technology is now well established as a means of delivering treatment to people with aphasia and this issue includes papers which describe the latest ways in which this is being carried out. Doesborgh et. al. report on Multicue, a way in which the capabilities of computers are used to support cueing approaches to the treatment of naming difficulties; and Mortley et. al. use the internet as a means of delivering innovative treatment approaches to the client at home. It is important that the high tech glamour of the technology does not obscure the need to critically evaluate the contribution of this mode of treatment. Two papers, Wallesch & Johanssen-Horbach, and Wertz & Katz, review and critique the outcomes and effectiveness of computer mediated therapy. In the 21st century computers are increasingly a part of everyday life and two papers address ways in which people with aphasia may benefit from this and engage in the emerging "information society", Van de Sandt-Koenderman looks at ways in which the technology can be used to support communication in day to day life by the provision of appropriate communication aids. Egan et. al. report on training people with aphasia to access the internet on their own account so that they may fully engage with this resource as active citizens.

SPCK Publishing The Things He Said: The story of the first Easter Day
The follow-up to the author's highly successful The Things He Carried, this book takes the post-resurrection sayings of Jesus as starting-points and uses the same reflection format. The meaning and significance of the resurrection, how it was first communicated and how it is communicated to us today, are explored by piecing together these sayings of Jesus. However, the content may not quite be what we imagine. Following the resurrection, we would expect the triumphant 'I have risen from the dead'. Yet Jesus' statements are so different, so apparently innocuous, that they are often overlooked. The Christian faith stands or falls on the resurrection of Jesus; without it, says St Paul, we are to be most pitied. In this revelatory book of surprising reflections, Stephen Cottrell's retelling of the Easter story encourages us to slow down and hear it properly - perhaps for the very first time.

The University of Chicago Press Pope.L: Showing Up to Withhold
I conoclast and artist Pope.L uses the body, sex, and race as his materials the way other artists might use paint, clay, or bronze. His work problematizes social categories by exploring how difference is marked economically, socially, and politically. Working in range of media from ketchup to baloney to correction fluid, with a special emphasis on performativity and writing, Pope.L pokes fun at and interrogates American society's pretenses, the bankruptcy of contemporary mores, and the resulting repercussions for a civil society. Other favorite Pope.L targets are squeamishness about the human body and the very possibility of making meaning through art and its display. Published to accompany Pope.L's wonderfully inscrutable exhibition Forlesen at the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago, William Pope.L: Showing Up To Withhold is simultaneously an artist's book and a monograph. In addition to reproductions of a number of his most recent artworks, it includes images of significant works from the past decade, and presents a forum for reflection and analysis on art making today with contributions by renowned critics and scholars, including Lawrie Balfour, Nick Bastis, Lauren Berlant, and K. Silem Mohammad.

New York University Press Consorts of the Caliphs: Women and the Court of Baghdad
Accounts of remarkable women at the world's most powerful court Consorts of the Caliphs is a seventh/thirteenth-century compilation of anecdotes about thirty-eight women who were consorts to those in power, most of them concubines of the early Abbasid caliphs and wives of latter-day caliphs and sultans. This slim but illuminating volume is one of the few surviving texts by the prolific Baghdadi scholar Ibn al-Sa'i, who chronicled the academic and political elites of his city in the final years of the Abbasid dynasty and the period following the cataclysmic Mongol invasion of 656/1258. In this work, Ibn al-Sa'i is keen to forge a connection between the munificent wives of his time and the storied lovers of the so-called golden age of Baghdad. Thus, from the earlier period, we find Harun al-Rashid pining for his brother’s beautiful slave, Ghadir, and the artistry of such musical and literary celebrities as Arib and Fadl, who bested the male poets and singers of their day. From times closer to Ibn al-Sa?i’s own, we meet women such as Banafsha, who endowed law colleges, had bridges built, and provisioned pilgrims bound for Mecca; slave women whose funeral services were led by caliphs; and noble Saljuq princesses from Afghanistan. Informed by the author’s own sources, his insider knowledge, and well-known literary materials, these singular biographical sketches bring the belletristic culture of the Baghdad court to life, particularly in the personal narratives and poetry of culture heroines otherwise lost to history. An English-only edition.

Holy Trinity Publications Glorified in America: Laborers in the New World from Saint Alexis to Elder Ephraim
The Orthodox Church is alive and growing on the North American continent thanks in no small part to the prayers and labors of holy men who have served here, some who have been formally glorified as saints and others who may yet be. This book is much more than a simple historical account or retelling of their lives and particular service in America: It is a spiritual manual, which strives to inspire and encourage it’s readers in their own struggle for the attainment of the holiness that adorns the lives of those recounted here and to emulate their deeds.Chronologically the lives described herein span the years from 1854 to 2019 and focus on the time each man spent laboring in North America: primarily the United States, but also Canada and Mexico. None of them spent all their life on this continent but they left a legacy on these shores that endures to this day and will surely continue. The extensive collection of both black and white photographs and pen and ink drawings that intersperse the text, together with a final section of rich color photography at the end of the work, contribute greatly to bringing the reality of their life and times to us.

Bloomsbury Publishing PLC Advanced Contract and Opinion Practices under the Cape Town Convention, Volume 2: Cape Town Paper Series
This book is the second in a series which addresses practical issues relating to contracting under the Cape Town Convention (the Convention). It has been produced by the Legal Advisory Panel of the Aviation Working Group, which has been the driving force behind the preparation and promotion of the Convention as applied to aircraft objects at the centre of activity on legal issues arising under the Convention. The aim of the group is to assist professionals working with the Convention in the context of transactions. This second book (the Green Book) builds upon the earlier Contract Practices under the Cape Town Convention ("the Purple Book"), which set out an initial set of practical guidelines to contracting under the Convention. The Purple Book was published prior to the entry into force of the Convention and since its publication major developments have occurred. The Convention and Protocol came into force on 1 March 2006, on which date the International Registry for aircraft objects commenced operations. The Registry system has been regularly upgraded and is governed by Regulations and Procedures now in their third edition. Already there have been nearly 100,000 registrations in the International Registry and much experience has been gained from the large number of transactions in which contracting parties and practitioners have been involved. The appearance of the second volume in the series, Advanced Contract and Opinion Practices under the Cape Town Convention ("the Green Book"), is therefore timely. Among other things it provides a practical guide to the registration system, with its elaborate mechanism of approvals and authorisations, advice on documentation and arrangements for closing, and annotated forms of legal opinion, both generic and specific. The Green Book benefits from two years of actual practice under Convention and also refers to the recently published revised edition of the Official Commentary by Professor Sir Roy Goode, an essential resource for anybody seeking to understand or enter into transactions governed wholly or partially by the Convention.

The History Press Ltd Brierley Hill: Round Oak, Harts Hill, Level Street, Merry Hill, Quarry Bank, Mill Street, The Delph, Silver End and Hawbush
In their second look at the history and development of Brierley Hill, Ned Williams and the Mount Pleasant Local History Group turn their attention to the areas of Round Oak, Harts Hill, Level Street, Merry Hill, Quarry Bank, Mill Street, The Delph, Silver End and Hawbush. The needs of industry formed these settlements, but once established, they became home to a vast number of schools, churches and chapels, shops and centres of entertainment - as well as a huge number of pubs. The collapse of the metal-based industries and the spread of housing has changed the landscape, but identifying these communities and recognising what went on there in the past helps us understand the development of Brierley Hill.
