Regal House Publishing LLC St. Michael Poker & Drinking Club
Father Thomas Abernathy brings together a wellborn Methodist minister, a dogmatic Lutheran pastor, and an enigmatic, evangelical preacher. Father Tom soon finds the Lutheran pastor Rev. Theo Swindberg assuming a preternatural place in his life. The man is nervous and doleful, and to learn what makes him tick, Father Tom attends a service at the Lutheran Church, where he falls under the spell of the pastor’s wife, Naomi. When Naomi is diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, Swindberg calls upon Father Tom to pray over her healing, a request which could be a career-ending departure from Father Tom’s church’s tenets. Father Tom struggles with his feelings for Naomi, and when he reluctantly agrees to Swindberg’s request, he also finds himself struggling with his faith. In the end it is faith, hope, and love that renews them all.

The History Press Ltd The Earl of Dudley's Railway
The Earl of Dudley’s Railway, also known as The Pensnett Railway, was nearly 40 miles of track stretching in all directions from The Earl’s Iron Works (later a steel works) at Round Oak, just outside Brierley Hill. It began life in a spectacular way back in 1829 when a steam locomotive named Agenoria began hauling wagons of coal from pits near Pensnett, out to a basin on the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal at Ashwood. For many years it transported coal from Baggeridge Colliery to the outside world and to Round Oak, and from 1928 until 1939 it carried passengers to the fetes at Himley Park. Now only a small remnant remains at the Round Oak Rail Terminal; the steel works and the pits have gone, some trackbeds have become footpaths, while others have disappeared completely. This book invites you to explore the railway, its locomotives and rolling stock and a little about the men who worked on the line. May it never be forgotten.

Island Press Creating Vibrant Public Spaces: Streetscape Design in Commercial and Historic Districts
This title shows how to strengthen and revitalize our historic commercial districts and suburban centers, too. Public space and street design in commercial districts can dictate the success or failure of walkable community centers. Instead of focusing our efforts on designing new 'compact town centers,' many of which are located in the suburbs, we should instead be revitalizing existing authentic town centers. This informative, practical book describes methods for restoring the health and vibrancy of the streets and public spaces of our existing commercial districts in ways that will make them positive alternatives to suburban sprawl while respecting their historic character.Clearly written and with numerous photos to enhance the text, "Creating Vibrant Public Spaces" uses examples from communities across the United States to illustrate the potential for restoring the balance provided by older urban centers between automobile access and 'walkability.' In advice that can be applied to a variety of settings and scales, Crankshaw describes the tenets of contemporary design theory, how to understand the physical evolution of towns, how to analyze existing conditions, and how to evaluate the feasibility of design recommendations.Good design in commercial centers, Crankshaw contends, facilitates movement and access, creates dynamic social spaces, and contributes to the sense of a 'center' - a place where social, commercial, and institutional interaction is more vibrant than in surrounding districts. For all the talk of creating new 'green' urban spaces, the ingredients of environmentally aware design, he points out, can often be found in the deteriorating cores and neighborhoods of towns and cities across the United States. With creativity, planning, and commitment, these centers can thrive again, adding to the quality of local life and contributing to the local economy, too.

*SUNDAY TIMES SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL OF THE YEAR*'A novel that delights, dazzles and moves in equal measure' Financial Times 'Brutally satirical and grimly hilarious' Daily Mail The venomous lumpsucker is the most intelligent fish on the planet. Or maybe it was the most intelligent fish on the planet. Because it might have just gone extinct. Nobody knows. And nobody really cares, either. Except for two people. Mining executive Mark Halyard has a prison cell waiting for him if that fish is gone for good, and biologist Karin Resaint needs it for her own darker purposes. They don't trust each other an inch, but they're left with no choice but to team up in search of the lumpsucker. And as they journey across the strange landscapes of near-future Europe - a nature reserve full of toxic waste; a floating city on the Baltic Sea; the lethal hinterlands of a totalitarian state - they're drawn into a conspiracy far bigger than one ugly little fish.
