The Catholic University of America Press Intestine Enemies: Catholics in Protestant America, 1605-1791: A Document History
Intestine Enemies: Catholics in Protestant America, 1605—1791, is a documentary survey of the experience of Roman Catholics in the British Atlantic world from Maryland to Barbados and Nova Scotia to Jamaica over the course of the two centuries that spanned colonization to independence. It covers the first faltering efforts of the British Catholic community to establish colonies in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries; to their presence in the proprietary and royal colonies of the seventeenth century where policies of formal or practical toleration allowed Catholics some freedom for civic or religious participation; to their marginalization throughout the British Empire by the political revolution of 1688; to their transformation from aliens to citizens through their disproportionate contribution to the wars in the latter half of that century as a consequence of which half of the colonies of Britain’s American Empire gained their independence. The volume organizes representative documents from a wide array of public and private records—broadsides, newspapers, and legislative acts to correspondence, diaries, and reports—into topical chapters bridged by contextualized introductions. It affords students and readers in general the opportunity to have first-hand access to history. It serves also as a complement to Papist Devils: Catholics in British America, 1574– 1783 (The Catholic University of America Press, 2014), a narrative history of the same topic.

Scarecrow Press Historical Dictionary of the United States Air Force and Its Antecedents
The Historical Dictionary of the United States Air Force and Its Antecedents presents terms of the significant events, important leaders, and technological improvements that define the evolution of the United States Air Force. From just three airmen in 1907, the USAF passed through a peak of 2.4 million service persons during World War II to reach its present strength of around 381,000 officers and airmen. Those 381,000 people are members of the most powerful and proficient military arm in history. Since World War II, the Air Force has fought three major conflicts: the Korean Air War, the Vietnam Air War, and the Persian Gulf Air War. It has also conducted numerous contingency operations such as the Berlin Airlift, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the raid on Libya, and the Bosnian Crisis. This volume documents the USAF presence in all of these conflicts as well as the state of the force during peace time including the Cold War tensions. Dictionary entries present concise, accurate information on aircraft and weapons, operations and wars, different organizational forms and bureaucracies, and the politics which governed as the Air Force sought its independence.

Police chief Jesse Stone faces the case of his career in this thrilling novel in the New York Times bestselling series. When a woman's partially decomposed body washes ashore in Paradise, Massachusetts, police chief Jesse Stone is forced into a case far more difficult than it initially appears. Identifying the woman is just the first step in what proves to be an emotionally charged investigation. Florence Horvath was an attractive, recently divorced heiress from Florida; she also had a penchant for steamy sex and was an enthusiastic participant in a video depicting the same. Somehow the combination of her past and present got her killed, but no one is talking—not the crew of the Lady Jane, the Fort Lauderdale yacht moored in Paradise Harbor; not her very blond, very tan twin sisters, Corliss and Claudia; and not her curiously affectless parents, living out a sterile retirement in a Miami high rise. But someone—Jesse—has to speak for the dead, even if it puts him in harm's way.
