Managerialism has often been defined as an ideology, according to which the effective and efficient running of commercial firms, not-for-profit organizations and public administrations is delivered by individuals who possess superior formal knowledge and expertise in management. Arguing to their exclusive education, managers deprive employers and employees of decision-making power and ensconce themselves systematically in the power structure of workplaces to advance their own interests and agenda. The central thesis of Overcoming Managerialism is that resisting and overcoming managerialism necessitates the re-establishing of the conceptual distinction between power and authority. Second, it requires the rehabilitating of authoritative management as a protection against authoritarian practices. Authority, properly conceived, redirects power to technical experts and professionals and thereby limits managerial power. Überraschend mutet dagegen die aktuelle Konjunktur des Heimat-Themas im Spektrum links-liberaler Parteien, Literaten, Kulturschaffender an. Besteht die auf den ersten Blick anachronistisch anmutende Attraktivität der Idee der Heimat darin, dass sie sich "am mentalen Verkehrsknotenpunkt von Globalisierung, romantischem Neo-Konservatismus und neuen politischen und gesellschaftlichen Konfliktlinien" (Koppetsch) befindet? Verbindet sich die Heimat-Renaissance also mit der Frage nach Sicherheit und der Suche nach verlässlichen Bindungen in Zeiten des digitalen und ökonomischen Wandels? This Approved Document provides guidance on how to comply with requirement RA1 and requirement RA2 of Schedule 1 to the Building Regulations 2010, which respectively deal with the installation of gigabit-ready physical infrastructure and a connection to a gigabit-capable public electronic communications network when new dwellings are erected. It provides guidance on when the requirement for a connection to a gigabit-capable public electronic communications network for new dwellings may be modified or excluded; and also provides guidance on the particulars to be provided when submitting applications for Building Regulations approval. This Approved Document takes effect on 20 December 2022 for use in England. It does not apply to work in respect of which a building notice or initial notice has been given to a local authority before 20 December 2022, or full plans have been deposited with a local authority before that day, provided the work is started on site within the period of 12 months beginning with that day. A separate Approved Document, Approved Document R - Volume 2, provides guidance on the requirements for in-building physical infrastructure for high-speed electronic communication networks when new buildings are erected or when existing buildings are subject to major renovation works.

The Stroemple Collection boasts more than five hundred vintage Venetian vessels that illustrate the height of Venetian glassblowing during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In 2012, George Stroemple commissioned James Mongrain—Dale Chihuly’s current gaffer and an exceptional glass artist—to make a series of ten vessels to replicate major examples of vintage Venetian glass in the Stroemple Collection. The finished pieces exemplify Mongrain’s extraordinary ability to re-create traditional Venetian mastery in glass.Since then, the Stroemple Collection has commissioned Mongrain to make more series, all based on the historic works in the Stroemple Collection.
