University of California Press Authentic Wine: Toward Natural and Sustainable Winemaking
"A great primer...If you're new to the natural/organic/biodynamic wine debates, Authentic Wine is the place to start."--Huffington Post "This is one of the most engaging, thoughtful and enlightening books on contemporary wine...A manifesto for an industry looking to shape its future."--Wine And Spirits Naturalness is a hot topic in the wine world. But what exactly is a "natural wine"? For this pioneering book, best-selling wine writer Jamie Goode teams up with winemaker and Master of Wine Sam Harrop to explore the wide range of issues surrounding authenticity in wine. They begin by emphasizing that wine's diversity, one of its strengths, is currently under threat from increasingly homogenized commercial wines that lack a sense of place. Drawing on a global array of examples and anecdotes, Goode and Harrop examine complex concepts--terroir, biodynamics, and sustainability--in clear language. They also discuss topics including cultured and wild yeasts, wine "faults," the carbon footprint of the wine industry, "natural" as a marketing concept, and more. Authentic Wine illuminates a subject of great interest to wine producers, consumers, and anyone wondering where the wine industry is headed.

A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven, THE SANDMAN is also widely considered one of the most original and artistically ambitious series of the modern age. Silvana The Many Lives and Deaths of Louise Brunet
The Many Lives and Deaths of Louise Brunet brings together several hundred works of art, objects and archival documents, covering diverse geographies over several millennia. From Cranach to 1960s industrial design, and ancient funerary stele to 18th century Japanese Samurai armour, the exhibition draws on the collections of local and foreign institutions. It exhumes trans-historical narratives of fragility and resistance and confronts them with a diversity of works by the biennale’s invited artists. Departing from the context of Lyon, the exhibition is designed as a retelling of the obscure 19th century story of Louise Brunet, a silk spinner from the Drôme, who after joining the revolution of the “Canuts” (silk weavers) in 1834, embarked on an arduous journey of self-reinvention, which ended in the Lyon-owned silk factories of Mount Lebanon. Louise Brunet is portrayed as an elusive figure, part real, part fictional, that appears in different guises, in various places, at several moments in history.

Intellect Books Revolve:R: edition three
Revolve:R was initiated in 2011 by Sam Treadaway and Ricarda Vidal as a multidisciplinary and international collaboration. The project explores the transmission of ideas through collaborative forms of communication ranging from the physical and tactile (such as the sharing of original artworks via the postal service) to the digital and intangible (which includes a parallel interplay online). Besides visual artworks, Revolve:R includes poetry, film, soundscapes and music. The complete work of each Revolve:R edition is presented as a limited-edition bookwork. Revolve:R: edition three is available through Intellect. Revolve:R: edition three is the result of a two-year-long collaboration, between 2016 and 2018, in which artists, poets, and musicians from around the UK, USA, Africa and Continental Europe created artworks in reply and response to one another. During this time many of the artworks featured have physically travelled many thousands of miles before coming together in this publication. Edition three is a continuation of editions one and two (Arrow Bookworks, 2013 and 2015) which explored concepts relating to chaos theory, chance and synchronicity. The first artwork-page of Revolve:R, edition three (page 217) references the final artwork sequence from Revolve:R, edition two (ending on page 216). Throughout the evolution of this third edition the editors have continued the development of the initial ideas and working processes that formed the basis and structure of the original Revolve:R project and have further reflected upon the nature of collaboration. In doing so their awareness and consideration of certain parallels and connections between the artworks has developed their insight into the act of co-creation and the phenomenon of collective consciousness. Each Revolve:R edition is formed of six rounds, or Revolves (effectively forming six chapters within the book), which follow the same pattern. A single 2D two-sided artwork of 21cm² is sent by post, to a number of invited artists with the request that they respond with an artwork of their own by a specific date. Thus the initial artwork sets in motion a multitude of alternative creative responses reflecting the recipients’ various ways of reading, interpreting and responding. Revolve:R: edition three (Arrow Bookworks and Intellect, 2019) follows Revolve:R, edition one (Arrow Bookworks, 2013) and Revolve:R, edition two (Arrow Bookworks, 2015). All three Revolve:R editions also function as catalogues, and artworks are available to purchase as high quality limited edition prints. Further information about the Revolve:R project, including how to purchase the prints, can be found here: www.revolve-r.com Revolve:R: edition three is a powerful and beautiful example of the power of collaborative practice, a vehicle for new artistic dialogue, and an artwork in its own right.

Pushkin Press Falling is Like Flying
This is a story she never wanted to tell, but in the end she had no choice. When her older sister dies at the age of sixty-nine, it brings back a past the author thought she had left behind. Incensed, she delves back into her childhood, recreating the abusive world that she grew up in, ruled over by her tyrannical father, The Minotaur. In a narrative by turns shockingly dark and strangely beautiful, she retraces her path through the phantasmagorical labyrinth, bringing a tale of silent trauma to a triumphant, raucous conclusion. Falling is Like Flying is an extraordinary autobiographical story of abuse and resilience, a literary triumph that reminds us what language is capable of.

Demeter Press Heavy Burdens: Stories of Motherhood and Fatness
Heavy Burdens: Stories of Motherhood and Fatness seeks to address the systemic ways in which the moral panic around 'obesity' impacts fat mothers and fat children. Taking a life-course approach, the book begins with analyses of the ways in which fatphobia is enacted on pregnant (or even not-yet-pregnant) women, whose bodies immediately become viewed as objects warranting external control by not only medical professionals, but family members, and even passers-by. The story unfolds as adults recount childhood stories of growing up fat, or growing up in fear of being fat, and how their mothers' relationships with their own bodies and attempted weight-loss experiences shaped how food, exercise, and body management were approached in their homes in sometimes harmful ways. Finally, the book concludes with stories of women who have since become mothers, examining the ways in which having their own children altered their views on their own bodies and their perceptions of their mothers' actions, and working to find fat-friendly futures via their own parenting (or grand-parenting) techniques.

Trope Publishing Co. Trope Chicago
The first in the City Edition series of books by Trope Publishing Co., Chicago showcases a unique view of one of the most photographed cities in the world by 27 independent photographers from Chicago and beyond. This carefully curated and beautifully bound collection of 206 stunning photographs offers a perspective of Chicago as it has never been seen before. Collectively, the photographs represent a distinctive urban view of the city. The Chicago Edition is divided into eight chapters, primarily focused on the lakefront and downtown areas showcasing iconic buildings, streets and parks. Each chapter is accompanied by a map along with the locations where the photographs were taken. The images reflect the interests of the photographers rather than serving as a comprehensive guide to the city. In many cases, there are several photographs of the same location, shot at different times of the day, in different seasons, with different tones. These studies offer a strong point-of-view, whether digitally processed, filtered, toned, or sharpened — giving each image a contemporary and urban sensibility. Editors Sam Landers and Tom Maday spent nearly a year identifying and meeting with the photographers and meticulously editing their portfolios to produce this unique book. “While the photographers come from all walks of life, they share a common passion to visually capture their city like never before,” said Landers. “They demonstrate incredible resolve and discipline – shooting tirelessly day and night, in rain and snow, to get ‘the shot’– resulting in images and perspectives that few Chicagoans experience,” added Maday.
