Taylor & Francis Inc Learner-Centered Leadership: Research, Policy, and Practice
Many new approaches to school improvement are being proposed in the current climate of assessment and school accountability. This book explores one of these approaches, a new model of leadership training known as Learner-Centered Leadership (LCL). It is built around the fundamental idea that learning and learning communities are natural processes that, when properly harnessed, can lead to the highest levels of professional engagement and problem solving. Key features of this exciting new approach to school leadership include the following:Broad-based and Generative—The book’s narratives vividly illustrate the extraordinary ability of LCL to generate new approaches to leadership development. For example, encouraging and assisting school leaders to reflect on their own leadership attributes relative to the implementation of the school mission to ensure high teacher efficacy and student learning. In this respect the volume contributes significantly to the field of school leadership and professional development by extending above and beyond a narrow focus on instructional leadership. Practice Oriented—By creating communities that encourage conversation and analysis the new data-driven models of school improvement are more likely to be successfully implemented. Without analytical discourse, the process of interpreting school data and transforming it into practice would be largely lost. Conceptually Appropriate—The realization that everyone within a school (students, teachers, administrators) belongs to the same learning community minimizes status differences and encourages teamwork. The LCL administrator is much less likely to be authoritarian and power-oriented and much more likely to be transformative and student outcome focused. This book is appropriate for master’s level courses and certification seminars, and for inservice workshops dealing with school leadership.

Cambridge University Press Ethical Theory and Business
For forty years, successive editions of Ethical Theory and Business have helped to define the field of business ethics. The 10th edition reflects the current, multidisciplinary nature of the field by explicitly embracing a variety of perspectives on business ethics, including philosophy, management, and legal studies. Chapters integrate theoretical readings, case studies, and summaries of key legal cases to guide students to a rich understanding of business ethics, corporate responsibility, and sustainability. The 10th edition has been entirely updated, ensuring that students are exposed to key ethical questions in the current business environment. New chapters cover the ethics of IT, ethical markets, and ethical management and leadership. Coverage includes climate change, sustainability, international business ethics, sexual harassment, diversity, and LGBTQ discrimination. New case studies draw students directly into recent business ethics controversies, such as sexual harassment at Fox News, consumer fraud at Wells Fargo, and business practices at Uber.

Emerald Publishing Limited Advances in Global Leadership
As organizations and leadership become more global, there are pressing needs for better developed conceptual models and definitions of what is meant by global leadership; better developed models, processes, and tools for developing global leaders; and a richer base of empirical evidence evaluating various definitions, conceptual models, processes and tools for developing global leaders. This book is divided into three parts: theory, research and practice. The first part begins by looking at how scholars are thinking about global leadership. What are the issues? What is global? What is leadership? Definitional issues, as well as the philosophical problems of universality among cultures, are addressed. The research section introduces several studies of global leadership which demonstrate the challenges of doing research on such a broad topic, as well as providing case studies for specific cultures and contexts. The practice section focuses primarily on the development of global leaders. The key issues here concern defining what we are trying to develop and how to go forth most effectively. The section demonstrates real problems that need to be solved in real time even if the theory and research are lagging.

SteinerBooks, Inc One Language: Source of All Tongues
Following the Tower of Babel story, language historians have long searched for a possible original language from which all others developed. Dr Wadler, inspired by his study of Rudolf Steiner's ideas, spent thirty years researching different languages and the connections between them; this book was the remarkable result. Wadler argues that pre-Columbia America holds the key to understanding the origin of human language and culture. This book is a classic of spiritual scientific literature.

Taylor & Francis Insurance Climate Change and the Law
The insurance industry has found itself at the front line of climate change challenges, providing insurance cover in relation to risks associated with climate change. As risk carriers, insurers pay claims for climate change related losses â such as property damage caused by windstorms, flooding, and wildfires â which have been increasing in frequency and severity. As major institutional investors, insurance companies invest in assets that may be increasingly vulnerable to climate risks. Insurance regulators across the globe have therefore started to require insurance companies to identify, manage, and report on climate change risks that could pose a threat to their financial stability. However, managing and reporting on the effect of climate risk on an insurerâs balance sheet is an inward-looking perspective that does not stem climate change. It needs to be paired with an outward-looking perspective that takes account of the insurance industryâs impact on the environment and t

Hirmer Verlag C.C. Wang: Lines of Abstraction
C.C. Wang (1907–2003) is best known as a preeminent twentieth-century connoisseur and collector of pre-modern Chinese art, a reputation that often overshadows his own art. Lines of Abstraction brings attention to Wang’s artistic experimentations. Spanning seven decades, the catalog focuses on the artist’s distinctive synthesis of Chinese literati ink art and American postwar abstraction. Born to a family of scholar-officials at the twilight of the Qing dynasty, Wang mastered the traditional ink and brush techniques in Republican China and immigrated to New York City. There he sought to perfect the literati painting, a genre associated with Chinese artist-intellectuals that blends calligraphy, painting, and poetry. Drawing inspiration from this historic art form, as well as New York’s artistic climate in the wake of World War II, he advanced breakthrough transformations in ink painting. Held twenty years after the artist’s death, a 2023 exhibit of Wang’s art was hosted by two venues, one at Hunter College and the second at the University of Minnesota. This exhibition catalog includes one hundred color images and features contributions by Daniel Greenberg and Joseph Scheier-Dolberg.
