JCB Mohr (Paul Siebeck) The Gospel of Peter and Early Christian Apologetics: Rewriting the Story of Jesus' Death, Burial, and Resurrection
Timothy P. Henderson examines the apologetic and polemical characteristics of the Gospel of Peter and demonstrates that this early Christian text was composed by reworking material from the New Testament gospels. He suggests that the category of Second Temple Jewish writings known as "Rewritten Bible" provides the best analogy for understanding the literary relationship between the Gospel of Peter and the canonical texts. An important feature of this study is its investigation of the ways in which certain criticisms and claims from those outside the Christian movement, including both Jews and Gentiles, played a formative role in the composition of the Gospel of Peter and led its author to alter details from previous accounts in an attempt to provide a more compelling demonstration of Christian claims. Henderson also surveys many parallels from other early Christian literature in order to establish more clearly the apologetic traits of this fascinating gospel.

Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht GmbH & Co KG Den Anderen Wahrnehmen: Fallstudien Und Theorien Fur Respektvolles Handeln. Zusammen Mit Peter Meyer
English summary: This volume is a Norwegian/German collaboration lead by Trygve Wyller and Hans-Gunter Heimbrock. It introduces a new way of approaching ethics. The authors point out that it is possible to show phenomenological ethics in practice. The lived experience (praxis) is as important as the professional experience. What people research here is the dynamics between these two fields of experience where the professional experience is taken from the general life experience. Contributions by Jonas Bauer, Silke Leonhard, Peter Meyer, Kerstin Soderblom, Lisbeth Thoresen, Ingvil Lonning, Solveig Botnen Eide, Trygve Wyller and Hans-Gunter Heimbrock. German text.

Goose Lane Editions Peter MacCallum: Documentary Projects 2005-2015
In this his newest book, Peter MacCallum has assembled collections of his documentary photographs of the last decade that examine the particularities of the vernacular spaces of human labour, commerce, and habitation. Conceived as series, these documentary photographs juxtapose the miscellany of the commercial architecture of Toronto's Yonge Street with the uniform elegance of rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis in Paris; an aging zinc foundry in Montreal with a venerable independent garage in Toronto; the functional Theatre Passe Muraille in Toronto with the tiny, lushly decorated Théâtre du Tambour Royal in Paris. Shifting from the industrial to the moumental to the domestic, MacCallum's roving eye lands upon the gritty morphology of the coal-fired Lakeview Generating Station, the restoration of Walter Alward's great limestone monument at Vimy Ridge, and the classical Greek spirit expressed in the front porches of ordinary Toronto houses dating from the early decades of the 20th century. The result is an engrossing collection of photographs that reveal a disarming beauty in sites that both embody and encompass a rich history of industry, commerce, and human habitation.

Bloomsbury Publishing PLC Shakespeare in the Theatre: Peter Hall
Peter Hall (1930–2017) is one of the most influential directors of Shakespeare’s plays in the modern age. Under his direction, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre rediscovered Shakespeare as a writer who could comment incisively on the modern world. Productions such as Coriolanus, The Wars of the Roses and Hamlet established his reputation as a director able to bring Shakespeare to the heart of contemporary politics. He later cemented his reputation with epic productions of Coriolanus and Antony and Cleopatra at the National. With the Peter Hall Company, Hall continued to work intensively on Shakespeare, directing plays in the UK and America. Reviewing Hall’s work in its cultural and creative context, this study explores his approach to directing and rehearsal. This is the first book to analyse all of Hall’s professional Shakespeare productions in a historical context, from the Suez crisis to the 9/11 attacks and beyond.

Yale University Press A Difficult Death: The Life and Work of Jens Peter Jacobsen
Beautifully written and incisive, this is the first English biography of a major Scandinavian author who is ripe for rediscovery While largely unknown today, Danish writer and Darwin translator Jens Peter Jacobsen was the leading prose writer in Scandinavia in the late nineteenth century and part of a generation that included Henrik Ibsen, Knut Hamsun, and August Strindberg. His novels Marie Grubbe and Niels Lyhne as well as his stories and poems were widely admired by writers such as Rainer Maria Rilke, Thomas Mann, and James Joyce. Despite his untimely death from tuberculosis at the age of thirty-eight, Jacobsen became a cult figure to an entire generation and continues to occupy an important place in Scandinavian cultural history. In this book, Morten Høi Jensen gives a moving account of Jacobsen’s life, work, and death: his passionate interest in the natural sciences, his complicated and nuanced attitude to his own atheism, and his painful descent toward an early death. Carefully researched and sympathetically imagined, this is an evocative portrait of one of the most influential and gifted writers of the nineteenth century.

Hatje Cantz Peter Gustaf Dorén (German edition): Ein Hamburger Raumkünstler um 1900
As differentiated as art history is today, a major chapter has been largely neglected: the craft of the interior decorator. And this, even though the delicate aesthetic sensibilities, the sense of color, and the eye for composition required to decorate private rooms have more direct influence on our lives than any work of art in any museum could lay claim to. This richly illustrated volume is dedicated to one of the pioneering German masters of this craft: Peter Gustaf Dorén. Here we encounter his work, with its surprising plasticity and liveliness. This is due not least to the versatility of Dorén’s works, whose aesthetics still set the (color)tone for the history of interior decoration today. Thanks to the fantastic photos and splendid color documentation Dorén himself produced, this opulent book of photos makes it possible to take a trip to the world of interior decoration around 1900, while also allowing a look at the history of the reader’s own four walls.
